• catrinam385 (10/5): Decent hotel, awesome service - We had a very nice two-night stay at the DeSoto. The rooms were clean and perfectly serviceable, but nothing exceptional. The hotel and street were quiet at night, and the location was great: easily walkable to things we wanted to do, but not so close that the streets were covered in tourists. We unfortunately did not use the amenities, as the weather was not the best for poolside lounging. The staff were great, though. I mostly interacted with the valet staff, who were all very personable. Big thank you to valets Xavier, Gio, and DJ. From our first impression on pulling up to our last as we drove away to a wave, they were awesome. Big props to those guys, who were working hard with a great attitude. If we're in Savannah again, we'll be back here.

We were right in the downtown historic district where everything was a walkable distance. We enjoyed our stay immensely. DeSoto keep up the great work!
• Claypot1268 (10/5): Fun with friends. - Location location location!! In the heart of it all. Walked the 22 squares over 3 days. Close to so many good restaurants and coffee joints. AND has a great pool bar to relax at prior to going out for the night.
• 688megant (6/5): Fine… should be better - It was ok. Had to complain about noise from my neighbors one night. Walls and connecting doors are extremely thin. There were ladies in the room next to me the next night and just them having a slightly loud conversation was extremely disturbing. The most disappointing thing happened the morning I checked out. I went to the front desk around 4:45am on my way out to get my car. The lady at the front desk was sleeping. I said “excuse me” to wake her and ask her if I could park my car up front to load my bags. Her response was to go ask valet. I went outside to ask and didn’t see and valet or any signs of valet. I went back in to ask her where they were or if she could help me and her response was to tell me to just wait for them outside. I had a flight to catch and honestly expected her to have some answers for me. On my way back in from parking my car up front (never saw valet so parked there anyway) she was asleep again. I also wish there was a small pantry area where you could grab snacks and drinks late at night. No place to get anything but water if the restaurant is closed. As well as no fridge either. So you can’t take anything back for when things are closed. For as nice as this place is it felt like a holiday inn.

A few minor things in the room needed to be addressed such as loose bathroom fixtures (tub and sink), and there was a stain on the carpet but we enjoyed every bit of our stay. It was within walking distance to just about everything. The texting service for the front desk was top tier.

From the moment I arrived, the customer service was exceptional. Raven at the front desk was welcoming, professional, and incredibly helpful, making check-in smooth and ensuring I felt valued as a guest. The gentlemen at valet also provided excellent service throughout my stay. They were courteous, efficient, and always greeted me with a smile, making arrivals and departures stress-free. The combination of Southern hospitality, attentive staff, and a beautiful hotel made my visit truly memorable. I highly recommend The DeSoto Hotel and look forward to staying here again on my next trip to Savannah. Thank you, Raven and the valet team, for going above and beyond!

Savannah is such a wonderful, welcoming city, and The DeSoto truly does not disappoint. My room was spotless, comfortable, and clearly well cared for, and every interaction with the staff was excellent — friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. The pool was refreshing and a perfect place to unwind after exploring the city. I also stopped into Proof & Provision, and the drinks were fantastic — some of the best I’ve had in a hotel bar. Overall, I couldn’t have been happier with my stay. I’ll definitely be back. Until next time, Savannah
• H4015JBkrism (10/5): The DeSoto Delivers — Highly Recommended - We had a wonderful stay at The DeSoto Savannah and would highly recommend it! From the moment we arrived, the valet staff were incredibly helpful and set the tone for the whole trip. The front desk team was equally warm and accommodating throughout our stay. The room was comfortable with a beautiful view, and both the restaurant and coffee bar were excellent — we really enjoyed both. The hotel itself is stunning and the location is hard to beat. The only minor things to be aware of: the room doesn’t have a mini fridge or microwave, and the TV is limited to live channels only — no streaming apps — with internet that was a bit too slow to make up the difference. Small inconveniences in an otherwise fantastic experience. We’d definitely stay again!

• tomcH8246TO (6/5): Average Hotwl - Savannah is an amazing and historic city. The DeSoto hotel is in the historic district and close to various restaurants and shops, just a short walk to the river as well which is great. Parking is valet only at $53/night. Would have preferred self parking for less but understandable. The lobby and restaurants were nice. The pool area was good and I liked that it had a large shallow area, great for kids. The hotel itself is a bit dated and updates/upkeep is a bit lacking. Our room was a decent size but had decent wear and tear and poor maintenance/cleaning (pain smears on the door handles, lots of caulk, stains on the vanity which were able to be removed with some intentional cleaning. Staff were friendly when approached but not very attentive. Overall it was an ok hotel but I will not be back.
• S5610PFmarkw (10/5): Perfect as Usual - We came down to Savannah to pick up our son from SCAD for the summer. As usual (this was our 4th time staying at the Desoto), everything was perfect. Everyone there is incredibly friendly, nice, and helpful. The Valet service in particular was excellent. I would like to give a big shoutout to Gio, Darrell, and Reese specifically for the way they did their job. I also want to recognize Akilah at the front desk for her friendly attitude and assistance. We will be back again in September. Thanks!!
• Lilidalla (10/5): Our Favorite Hotel in Savannah - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The DeSoto. It was our second time to stay there during our granddaughter’s college time at SCAD. She graduated on May 29, and we were kept busy with her related activities and events. Thus, we didn’t use any of the hotel’s amenities other than an immaculate room with comfortable bed and the restaurant for a delicious breakfast. Everyone we encountered was cordial and willing to be of service. The DeSoto’s location is ideal since it’s in the middle of the Historic District and easily walkable to our areas of interest. Savannah is a beautiful city and The DeSoto is a wonderful lodging choice for experiencing it.

The staff is exceptional as well as the comfortable bed, sheets and bedding. My only feedback is there should be more lounge chairs a the pool. Each day there were not enough for the guests looking to lounge by the pool.

• kimdI6730CS (2/5): Very disappointed - I was in room 405 which was horrible because I could hear everybody talking out on the sidewalk, sirens from cop cars going by, people drag, racing up and down the road. I was also right next to the elevator and could hear everybody getting on and off being loud and obnoxious at night. I spent two nights not getting any sleep whatsoever. I would also like to add that there was no refrigerator to put my drinks to keep them cold and there was a lot of mold and in the bathroom. The balcony was also terrible looking. When I reserved the room, I did it because of the location and will never ever stay atthis hotel again.

Simple, clean, fantastic customer service as well as good food. A special shout out to Bre at the coffee shop whose professionalism and expertise were remarkable. She handled a long line of customers with exemplary care, efficiency, and grace.

• mollykH5151UN (10/5): Great Customer Service! - I recently got married and chose to spend two nights at The DeSoto during my wedding weekend, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Francis and Scott went above and beyond to make sure both I and my friends were well taken care of. I hosted a gathering with my closest girlfriends at Edgar’s Proof & Provisions, and Scott somehow kept up with all of our orders—often remembering our preferences before we even said a word. Francis checked in with me multiple times and made sure every request was handled quickly and kindly. The entire staff delivered first‑class service and made an already special weekend even more memorable.

I think this may have been the worst hotel experience my husband and I have experienced in all of our years of travel. Maybe our expectations were too high but I figured for the location (which was great) and what appeared to be a charming historic hotel, we would have an enjoyable experience. So many things were going wrong, I asked to speak to the GM, Mitch Linder to give him feedback and let him know what we were experiencing. He was very approachable and gracious and offered to comp us a night plus a food and beverage credit. He advised he would follow up the next day (he didn’t). Though we appreciated that gesture we would have much preferred to have an enjoyable stay and pay full price. I’ll start with the worst - housekeeping. When they did decide to come, they barely did anything. Left trash cans full, didn’t sweep or vacuum, upon arrival our toilet clearly hadn’t been cleaned. Used glasses were not replaced. It was pretty unbelievable. Interestingly, when we first entered our room, the only thing that greeted us was a QR code for tipping! No welcome anything, no robes, no room service option, no dry cleaning, just asking for tips. Pretty tacky. Though there were so many other problems that added up to a pretty horrible stay, I’ll just say that their business model is odd and off-putting. For a hotel that can’t even keep the rooms clean, they nickel and dime you and offer these tacky gimmicks - $10 toward the coffee shop if you don’t want your room clean, but you need to go each day to the desk to the voucher and then hope the coffee shop is open. We purchased breakfast included. Well, no, it was $30 toward the cost of your breakfast which was clearly going to be more than that. Want a late check out (we didn’t) that’s $50 for the first hour and $100 for the next etc. No towels at the pool, mo

It was pretty unbelievable. Interestingly, when we first entered our room, the only thing that greeted us was a QR code for tipping! No welcome anything, no robes, no room service option, no dry cleaning, just asking for tips. Pretty tacky. Though there were so many other problems that added up to a pretty horrible stay, I’ll just say that their business model is odd and off-putting. For a hotel that can’t even keep the rooms clean, they nickel and dime you and offer these tacky gimmicks - $10 toward the coffee shop if you don’t want your room clean, but you need to go each day to the desk to the voucher and then hope the coffee shop is open. We purchased breakfast included. Well, no, it was $30 toward the cost of your breakfast which was clearly going to be more than that. Want a late check (we didn’t) that’s $50 for the first hour and $100 for the next etc. No towels at the pool, mostly unfriendly staff (Scott and Isabella were great however), dirty rooms, questionable food and yet the gall to beg for tips for..? I think a significant reset with management is desperately needed. We did love the Historic District area of Savannah and will be back but certainly not to his hotel.

• 152livh (10/5): Mr. Charlie - The whole experience at this hotel has been amazing but I have to specifically shout out Mr. Charlie with valet. What an amazing first impression to this establishment. We were greeted with big smiles & laughter. Charlie was out front every time we came outside, he remembered who we were, offered water & recommendations. He is a ray of sunshine, the kind of person who can immediately put you in a good mood! You can tell he truely enjoys his job & he is darn good at it!

However, I do have a couple of issues to address. The bath tub in the room needs re-surfacing and there was no refrigerator in the room.
• patrickcP1597YO (2/5): Worst Hotel in the North Historic District of Savannah - The only saving grace at this hotel was their valet service. DJ and Mr Charlie were phenomenal and went above and beyond a traditional valet. Assisting with our luggage, providing local recommendations for food and sites/areas to visit. Now to the reason why this property is receiving 1 star. Prior to check in since the hotel typically only accepts one pet I went up to the front desk and asked them if two pets would be permissible which they agreed to accommodate for an additional fee. At the time of check in no mention of a pet policy other than 1 dog per room was ever mentioned to me by the staff. (Hold this thought it will become relevant later) Upon entering my room it was extremely hot so I set the AC down to 60 to try and cool the room down instead the temperature began to slowly climb as time went by so I called the front desk to have maintenance sent to my room to service the air conditioner. Over an hour passed and the room continued to get hotter and maintenance still hasn’t showed at this point. I went downstairs to inform the staff I would be going to dinner and to NOT send the maintenance to my room until I returned since I had dogs uncaged in there and we were provided a fan to help with the heat until we returned. While out trying to enjoy the town for the 1 day I am in Savannah I receive a call from the staff stating they sent maintenance to my room regardless of being asked explicitly not to and the maintenance startled the dogs causing them to start barking. Due to the barking caused by their staff a guest complained at which point I was contacted by the hotel again and instructed I needed to return immediately to tend to my dogs barking that their staff caused. I spent $200 on a dinner that didn’t even have enough time to get served to me so that went in the garbage. Upon returning to the hotel the front desk shoved a pet policy in my face asking me to sign it since they forgot to mention it at check in and the policy specifically states if your dogs bark they have the right to call you back to the hotel. This is something that should’ve been addressed at check in not hours later when a problem already happened because of your staff members entering my room without permission! On top of ruining my only night out the room peaked at around 75 degrees last night. One of the photos attached shows the room at 74 degrees with the AC on 60 and this photo was taken at almost 10PM, it wasn’t even that hot out there is no reason the AC shouldn’t be able to cool down such a small room. Maintenance was called back after I returned from my ruined dinner and after claiming they fixed the issue and left there was a bunch of black residue that magically appeared in the tub which appeared to be black mold. I am a platinum member with Expedia so I called them to complain at which point they called the hotel. The front desk on duty told them my AC was fixed and there are no issues with my room and the only issue was my dogs because according to the night shift I never made the hotel aware I had dogs at all. But I’ll refer you to the beginning of my message where I clearly told them prior to check in. The elevators are out of inspection and need to be reinspected. The rooms are extremely small, dated and not well kept. The TVs are old with no internet capabilities and look like they’re from the early 2000s. There’s also a lack of electrical outlets around the beds/sleeping area to accommodate charging devices. I can continue to go on if needed and more than happy to have management contact me to discuss a refund I am more than rightfully owed. For a 4 star hotel this is the worst stay I’ve ever experienced and I’ve been a platinum member for almost 4 years and listed in Expedias top 1% of spenders. This is not how a hotel should operate or treat its guests. And lying to Expedia about their guests experience tops the cake only after you consider when I complained to the front desk about all of this they continued to make fun of me and laugh at me with other guests that were in the lobby.

Paint peeling off bathroom door, deep dust layer in shower air filter, lots of dust and dirt. Generally felt unclean. Bed linen were itchy. Didnt even have a fridge in room. Pool area looks a lot more run down than the pictures show. Definitely not a 4 star "upscale" vibe.

It was located within walking distance of most places we wanted to see. You could feel the history. Five stars !!!

The property was clean, well-kept, and surprisingly quiet, which made it easy to relax after a full day out. One of the best parts is the location—you can easily walk to just about everything, which made exploring so convenient. The only downsides were the amenities. The gym and pool are both quite small, so if those are important to you, just keep expectations in check. Also, plan ahead if you want to use the pool—towels tend to run out, so it’s best to grab them early in the day. Overall, a really solid stay with a great location and comfortable atmosphere.

Everything looks new. If you have not been to Savannah before, most will tell you t stay by the river, but that area is crowded and doesn’t have the best restaurants. The DeSoto is in a much better location to the better restaurants, bars, and to the park. It is also an easy walk to the riverfront. We have been coming to Savannah for Severn years regularly to see our daughter, and this is now my favorite hotel when I combine, location, amenities, and quality of the hotel.

Numerous maintenance issues that have been neglected in our room 1006.
