- Rahul (7/5): Unique location up an intense drive up and with a snake canyon hike which was (hard but) fantastic. - 1. Location was very unique (but please refer to the drive up in the next section).
2. Rooms were basic but quite nice and comfy 1. Booking.com should definitely ensure that potential guests know that the drive up is quite hard; last 6 kms is very steep, narrow and windy.
2. Food could have easily been better; although we were'nt expecting it to be great basic items like scrambled eggs, salad, hummus etc were not upto expectations. Goat//Lam and Chicken curries were good though.
3. Rooms should have at least some basic storage for clothes.

- Martin (9/5): Good people, great place. Exceeded expectations. - very nice and comfortable place, that offers an amazing value for money. Dinner and breakfast were better than expected. Will come back no doubt. I didn't have enough towels for all guests, but didn't ask for more either. The mattress is not as comfortable but certainly good enough given the location and remoteness of this place.
- luca (9/5): - Posto molto bello. Terrazza super

- PRAVEEN (8/5): It’s a nice place to stay for a night enjoy the Mountain View’s - Nice location Food servings

- Milan (9/5): Breathtaking place !! - Very stylish accommodation in the heart of a mountainous area with an incredible view of the village on the opposite slope.
I enjoyed the "stony" fortress-like appearance of the building.
Amazing views everywhere!
From the sofa just at the entrance into the room, from the dining area, from different terraces the place offers, amazing indeed !!
Very tasty breakfast included in the price and excellent dinner for the additional charge. We enjoyed it very much.
I definitely recommend staying there for two nights, you can explore the little gorge not far and the village one day and do Snake Canyon the other.
Very polite, I would say extremely polite staff and welcoming owner !!
Amazing' A little bit more storage area, wardrobes in the room would be helpful but does not trouble seasoned travellers.
- Emily (10/5): Amazing view, nice food, huge terrace - Amazing view over Bilad Sayt village, massive wooden terrace, big rooms. Thank you to Kees (sorry if that is the wrong spelling) for all the food and his kind service!

4x4 auto is een must.

- Istvan (10/5): -
- Bernadett (10/5): Amazing accommodation close to Jebel Shams - Perfect, quiet location, breakfast and dinner were really nice.
- K (8/5): A perfect place to sleep in the mountains for the Snake Canyon! - Perfect location in the middle of Wadi Bani Awf.
Amazing views of the Bald Sayt village, with some good food to recharge.
Lovely hosts and an amazing tour guide Bader for the Snake Canyon. Room was basic and the bed not very comfortable.
- SHTX (10/5): Book this mountain inn. - Lovely mountain inn facing the village.
Beautiful outdoor deck spaces to enjoy in nice weather.
Sunrise over the mountain/ & light reflecting off the magnificent mountain Vista.
Nice on site dining
Staff was great!
My friend enjoyed the 5 hour canyoning trip arranged in advance by our host @ the inn.
NOTE
MUST arrive in 4x4 with mountain driving
experience.
Long, dirt based, sonmetimesx1 lane twisting, turning straight up & straight down hill 24 KM before the 1st real paved road on return to Muscat . Beds are hard as a rock! Linens are very nice.
(We were ok without heat as weather was pleasant.
A-con is available. )
I would stay here again it's very well done
- Peter (7/5): - Die Lage. Unpersönlicher Service. Essen mäßig. Sehr harte Matrazen.
- Verheyden (8/5): - The view was awesome and the food excellent. The road to get there is very difficult and you really need special kills to arrive and leave safely on the dirt road.
- Jan (9/5): Hervorragend für Wandern. 4x4 Auto notwendig. Eine Abholug im Tal geht auch. - Super Lange, nettes Personal.
- Rolf (9/5): - Alles tipptopp.
Tolle Lage gegenüber dem Ort.
Schönes traditionelles Guesthouse.

- agenzia (4/5): Località fantastica da non perdere. La struttura no. - La vista è indubbiamente stupenda.
- Guest (10/5): - Absolutely stunning location and view I loved everything about the stay
- Arun (9/5): A truly memorable and peaceful mountain getaway
A - A truly memorable and peaceful mountain getaway
Our stay at Bald Sayt Guest House was simply magical. The entire place feels very quaint and authentic — right from the charming room entrance doors to the beautiful stonework used in the construction. The beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep.
Perched at the top of the mountain, the guest house is breezy, open, and surrounded by dramatic peaks. The view overlooking Bald Sayt village is absolutely breathtaking. Despite visiting in June, the weather felt cool and pleasant thanks to the refreshing summer breeze. We spent hours just sitting outside, soaking in the peace and quiet of nature — no distractions, no stress, just serenity.
The food was simple yet delicious. We especially loved their karak chai, a perfect companion to the mountain view. Having breakfast, lunch, or dinner amidst such spectacular surroundings is a unique experience.
Our children loved every moment — from exploring the guest house to walking down to the village and hiking the mini Snake Canyon.
The owner was extremely helpful and courteous, and the two Nepali cooks were warm and attentive as well.
We absolutely loved our stay at Bald Sayt Guest House and are already looking forward to visiting again in winter!
- Fatima (10/5): An amazing experience - This place is amazing. Well worth a visit, make sure you travel with a decent 4x4, the dirt track is not easy to travel on with a regular car, it is extremely uneven and rocky but great fun. The owners are a local family who arrange tours themselves. We did the snake canyon one and it was amazing. Breakfast, lunch and dinner absolutely delicious. Comfortable beds, please just book it and have an amazing time! We absolutely intend to go back!
- Tyler (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast and views were amazing. The hosts had a lot of helpful information. It was intense drive to get there. Buckle up.
- Omair (8/5): Very good -
- Szymon (10/5): Exceptional - worth staying here! ;)
- Stanley (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Beautiful view, great location and very special snake canyon experience. - Very professional canyoning guide! We had a great time exploring the canyons with Zahir. Even though there were only two of us, he still went ahead with the tour, which we really appreciated. The location also offers beautiful views of the mountains and the village. The architecture blends in nicely with the surroundings and doesn’t stand out inappropriately like some of the neighboring hotels. The food is great too! Maybe food could be refreshed in terms of variety for guests staying more than 2 nights.
- Marco (7/5): Excellent lodge to visit Snake Canyon - Beautiful terrace with wonderful view The shower could use a curtain
- Ismail (8/5): Very good -
- Samuel (10/5): Great stay with amazing view - We had an amazing stay at the Guest House. The view is amazing, the breakfast we had was great (lot of food and choices), the room was spacious, and our host made sure we had everything we needed. The only bad thing we have to say is that the bathroom was a bit smelly and the water pressure low, though it wasn’t a big deal. Highly recommend!
- Aneesh (7/5): Good - Good experience. Loved the location. The last 45 minutes drive was breathtaking. Typical 4WD experience !
A must visit location for adventure lovers, hikers.
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - What a wonderful location and the guest house was wonderful. Beds really comfy with AC and fan. Sitting outside reading while watching the village and mountains. A lovely spot. Food was great too we had dinner and breakfast and were very well looked after! Will visit again soon for sure.
- Gopakumar (9/5): A homely stay - The location overlooking the village was superb. Mr Kaiz, the caretaker welcomed us with a smile and showed us to the room. The rooms were well appointed. Free coffee and tea can be had at the restaurant. Night dinner was buffet style . We had to tell the caretaker in advance to avail the dinner. The breakfast was simple and filling. WiFi connection was good. One needs a 4x4 vehicle to reach the property. A slipper to be used inside the room would have been welcome.
- Leon (9/5): Satisfying - Nice place…
- Alison (4/5): Disappointing - Beautiful views. Coffee and dates on arrival Our room was dirty and looked like the bedsheets were not changed. The bathroom was very smelly.
This area is quite remote so bring food if you don't want to eat the food at the accomodation.
- Augustin (10/5): Beautiful view and nice stay - The view is like on the photos, awesome. It really worth it to do the ride, you can easily reach driving from Nizwa or Oman, with a 4x4 wheels.
Breakfast and dinner were good.
Famous spot for hiking
- Domna (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (9/5): Superb - Great location, friendly stuff, clean bed, and a million dollar view.
- Sven (9/5): Superb - Great location, very friendly stuff
- Yan (8/5): Very good - The location! It overlooks the village of Balad Sayt, with an amazing view from the balcony. The bed was comfortable, room was spacious. Breakfast and dinner were basic buffets but this is expected in a small mountain village. The rooms seem recently renovated, but there are some small flaws here and there. Room doors do not stay closed unless locked. It was inconvenient when the kids want to sleep and we want to stay outside.
- Eric (9/5): Comfortable stay surrounded by mountains - Great location, good price for money, comfortable, simple but traditional dinner and breakfast. Welcome could be warmer. Rest was all good.
- Jo (10/5): A really wonderful local guest house with charm - It is a fabulous guest house with a perfect view of the village
The bed and pillow are the best I have had in Oman!
Tea and coffee and dates all day
Shower was good pressure and the meals were excellent.
Super quiet and lovely owners who can also take you canyoning which is amazing! Nothing - I loved it all
- Clémentine (10/5): Serene - The ultimate location with a stunning view over the village. Serenity of the place and kindness of the team. Tasty food.
We loved everything, even the road to get there; which is an experience in itself.
- Vasily (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hj (8/5): Peaceful, quiet with amazing views. - The guest house overlooks the balad sayt village. It is very peaceful and relaxed.
Be aware that you absolutely need a 4WD vehicle to get there. I didn't have this, but I could arrange pick-up by the guesthouse from the end of the nearby asphalt road, for which they charged 25 OMR. I was very happy that this could be arranged on short notice! I chose to stay here partially because I needed WiFi, and it didn't disappoint.
Finally, the views were absolutely amazing. My attached picture shows the view directly from the door of my room. The breakfast and dinner were quite expensive for what you get. On the other hand, everything has to be driven in by off-road truck so that may justify some of this.
Communicating in English with the waiters/cooks was a bit challenging.
Also good to know that the guest-house is really a guest house -- not a hotel. The rooms are quite bare-bones, and you'll see some barely finished plumbing and electrics. Then again, this is in a hard to reach place in the mountains, and in some way it adds to the experience.
- Jakub (10/5): Very good location and host. - Great host and location. None
- Azmir (9/5): Cost little guest house in the middle of nowhere - Breakfast was good. We did not expect the spread to be good considering it was only our family that day. It was also ready on time as per my request. Linen were of high quality and the bed was comfortable. The location is was fantastic as it was over looking the village. Nothing really bad but could be better if they clean the grill at the common area. I had to clean the residue of the previous grilling myself. Another side table for bed would be nice.
- Maria (10/5): Amazing stay in bald sayt - Everything! It’s comfortable, built with local stones, has amazing view and super nice owners! The food was great too. All perfect, we loved it!
- Rainer (7/5): Beautiful spot in the mountain - Beautiful location Limited food option but this is expected at a place like this
- Sheila (10/5): Peaceful quaint stay with everything you need - Fantastic view and service. So quiet and peaceful and perfect stop off between our drives Just getting there was very long (our own fault) but other than that nothing!
- Janet (8/5): Very good -
- Saleh (10/5): “An incredible stay at Balad Sayt Guest House, where the staff genuinely treat you like a guest in their own home—truly - Amazing view breathtaking
- Renate (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely staff. Beautiful Omani style rooms, Excellent view over the village, Good guide to the Snake Canyon!
Highly recommendable.
- Aslam (9/5): Superb -
- Alice (9/5): Superb - amazing location and comfortable hotel
- Kostiantyn (9/5): Good mountain view and easy canyon access - Location and view is very good. Canyon next to hotel is amazing. They can cook lunch and dinner as well, but need to be booked in advance. No other restaurants available in the village. Good coffee shop just next to hotel (uphill 100 meters) Rooms need to be cleaned more carefully. Some beds is extremely hard.
- Ahmed (9/5): Superb - The hotel is in beautiful view, which can see the all village and mountains.
- Pavel (10/5): Exceptional - Calm place, good for relax, tasty dinner and breakfast. Incredible view
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional - The guest house is run by two very hospitable and friendly brothers, who originate from the nearby village. The house was built by them in a charming and authentic Omani style. From its terraces there is a breathtaking view of the high mountains and village. The silence is welcoming to the soul. There are walks and hikes that can be taken starting from the guesthouse or the 2 minute steep drive to the village below.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathroom and shower are simple, clean and functional. Our supper and breakfast were homemade and delicious. The were served on one of the terraces.
We would highly recommend this guesthouse to experience an authentic stay in Oman. Thank you very much for an unforgettable stay.
- Oliver (10/5): We visited Balad Sayt twice before - the scenery and drive there are breathtaking - but it was our first stay overnight. - Beautifully located wit a top view on Balad sayt village
- Paige (8/5): Very pleasant stay, would recommend. - Very pleasant stay. Beautiful view of the Village from the top, and close to Snake Canyon.
They organised for us dinner and breakfast. The dinner was very good, but breakfast could offer some more foods rather than only bread and boiled eggs.
Overall recommend! Breakfast was not enough options.
The bed was a little uncomfortable.
- Corina (10/5): We traveled here from Muscat. The road was very adventurous and we arrived just before dark. We were already expected an - Very friendly… nice Dinner and breakfast… and lunch! Nice view over Bald Sayt.
We did the best canyoning tour at Snake Canyon with Rashid Saif from bald sayt Guest House! Our kids loved it! Very cool Adventure!
Thank you!
- Nichole (8/5): Very good - Amazing location. A great place to stay to set you up for either an adventure or relaxing trip.
The rooms overlook the village of Bald Sayt and it’s so peaceful.
A great drive from Dubai if wishing to disconnect.
The road to the guesthouse is one of the best that I’ve seen.
The beds are super comfortable, which is great if doing an adventure like Snake Canyon, must do, which can be organised here too.
The food is plentiful and the curry beef is so nice.
The staff are very nice and advise you of hikes in the area and nice walks through the village.
- Thilak (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (9/5): Superb - Fantastic staff. Very helpful - including advance tips on the easiest ascent, which is from Rustaq.
- Danisolisa (9/5): Superb -
- Mislav (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and clean stay, friendly staff. Would recommend to anyone.
- Zoltan (10/5): Cosy accommodation, an excellent base for exploring Snake Canyon and the village, mountain hikes. - The Village is truly a gem among the barren mountains. The accommodation offers just enough comfort without spoiling the atmosphere of the place. Let's hope we manage to keep this balance.
What we liked:
- Pleasant covered terrace with perfect views of terraced fields, surrounding mountains
- Guide books, information material on attractions in the area
- Friendly staff and hosts with plenty of advice and ideas to help you relax.
- A hearty Omani/Indian breakfast on the terrace.
- On the day of our arrival, a very tasty, hearty dinner was prepared on request
- The road from Nizwa is really bumpy, (4x4 off-road vehicle mandatory), but that is part of the adventure.
- A small canyon is easily accessible in the immediate vicinity of the village. It was fun how surprised they were at our arrival :)
- Rajbir (9/5): Superb -
- Pbpbpbpbp (8/5): Very good - the staff is fantastic, extremely helpful!!! great beeakfast rom small and dirty, dirty batheoom with spiders ans lots of spider webs
- Ozren (5/5): Passable -
- Ali (10/5): Exceptional -
- Naomi (10/5): Exceptional - Cleanliness Comfortable rooms and hospitable owner and staff
