Guest Reviews
- Bronwyn (10/5): Incredible! Definitely stay here! - A lovely place to stay! Rooms were clean with comfy beds and hot showers. The pool was also incredible and needed after a hot day hiking!
The lunch upon arrival was delicious (pork and chips with salad) as was dinner (mashed potato and chicken) and they even made my boyfriend a cake as it was his birthday! Pepino the 14th at old cat was also lovely company. Thank you so much for making our stay and his birthday so special! Nothing! 10/10 :)
- Katie (10/5): - This place offers really great value. I had a comfortable room with a private bathroom. It's a nice-sized property with amazing views, including a huge terrace. The owner was incredibly attentive and helpful. Dinner was massive for the price and accommodated my dietary needs. The included breakfast was also great! I wasn't able to use the pool (this was a temporary problem affecting the whole oasis as far as I could tell, not just this hostel, so it isn't their fault!) but I envy anyone who gets to, because it looked awesome. As some reviews have mentioned, there will be a lot of small bugs in the room. But they are harmless. They are attracted to light and they will find something else to do once you turn off the light. :)

- MARIA (8/5): -
- Antonia (10/5): - Amazing Pool and really good food!
- Margaux (6/5): -
- Claire (9/5): Restful stay at the heart of the oasis - Everything Anything from the shop is VERY expensive (water 2L 15soles !’)
- Andy (9/5): - Swimming pool is excellent!
- Georgia (9/5): -
- Philippe (8/5): -
- Hubert (6/5): Pour une nuit ça passe - La vue Les repas frugaux
Les draps pas propres
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Katrien (8/5): -
- Karel (7/5): Good -
- Nelly (7/5): Good - The pool is very nice! There are no outlets in the room and no possibility to charge the phones. I wish I knew it before coming. Also no mirror in the whole room and the shower has not curtain so the whole bathroom will be soaked in water. Easy fixes for the hotel to do
- Maxime (9/5): Superb - Good and generous meals.
Spacious and clean room.
Very nice and welcoming staff.
You are given towels, toilet paper and soap.
The pool is a great plus ! We would suggest adding a curtain in the shower, as well as a mirror for confort.
Although we understand that this place is hard to reach, 15 soles for a bottle of water when the same 2,5L cost 6 soles in the city… made us feel a bit robbed. The meals cost the same as elsewhere, why not the water ?
- Ewout (8/5): Good, but needs some attention - The pool and the rest of the lush garden are beautiful. Room is simple, but ok. Host was really kind guy, little English spoken. Room only had a bed. Not even a mirror in the bathroom. Needs an upgrade. The prices in the shop are too high, especially for water (10 soles for a small bottle). Better get your snacks, drinks and beers at the little kiosk just before descending the last part (coming from Llahuar or San Juan)
- Sally (6/5): Ok - Lovely pool and staff, facilities were basic No water in the morning in the bathroom
- Casey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (9/5): Superb -
- Magali (7/5): Good - Very nice to refresh in the hotsprings after a long walk!
- Elen (9/5): Superb - The gardens of the property are beautiful. The bed is comfortable and the room is cool. We had lunch and dinner at the property for a very reasonable price. We were also able to request a time for breakfast (available from 5/5:30 onwards). For an additional 5% you can pay with card which we did.
- Ben (8/5): Very good -
- Jan (8/5): Very good - Located at the bottom of Colca Canyon in a green aosis. The fscility boasted a pool with loungers. Breafsst was included and dinner could be bought. There was not a singel hanger in the room nor a place to hang clouths.
- Tracey (7/5): Good -
- Magdalena (9/5): Quiet jungle stay with pool - Beautiful location, jungle feeling, pool, good for 1-2 nights shower had no hot water
and don’t expect big breakfast- it’s remote location
- Tarun (9/5): Superb -
- Hugo (6/5): Pleasant -
- Taco (9/5): Amazing stop in Paraíso - Amazing place to stay after hiking Colca Canyon. Great value for money. They take great care of the plants and the pool. The breakfast was served early so you can make it back to Cabanaconde in time for the early busses. Lunch was served at a particular hour, make sure to tell them in advance if you would like to be served. We informed the staff we found drill holes under the window with sight on the bed. Shocked as they were, they made an effort to conceil it permanently. After we found reviews on several other hostels in the oasis having the same situation, advise to travelers in this oasis to be carefull and vigilant on this whichever hostel you choose.
- Kevin (9/5): Superb - Swimming pool, good price
- Deryck (10/5): Great value Colca Canyon Trek stopover. - We stayed at Eden Lodge at the end of our3 day canyon trek. Exceptional value for money. Superb pool, welcoming staff and good food. Nothing to dislike.
- Powers (10/5): Beautiful, relaxing oasis lodge - Beautiful lodges and grounds, including the pool. Delicious food available, clean and comfortable room. The water hoses were left around the property, including on the grass which made it muddy to walk through. We weren’t sure why hoses were left across walking areas. It was a bit unsafe.
- Sheridan (7/5): Good - Gorgeous staff, very friendly and welcoming. They have a lovely balcony view in the restaurant The matress really hard and uncomfortable. The duvets didnt have any covers on them. There was alot of insects in our room. The pool was dirty so we didn’t get to enjoy it after 2 days of hiking
- Sophie (5/5): Passable -
- Erdin (4/5): Good value for money, pretty average. - Pretty ok. Breakfast was extremely basic (coffee, one fat pancake, Marmelade and butter). There seemed to be only one person to manage the whole property. Had to ask about towels, shower wasn't warm, let alone hot. However, it is in an oasis down the canyon which probably makes it difficult to have a full hotel experience. It's enough to stay a night and hike away.
- Sophie (8/5): Very good - Very lovely setting, perfect after a long hike. The room was simple but comfortable. The pool was great to relax sore legs and the terrace to eat and drink was welcome. Food was provided and when we had an issue with one of the dishes it was resolved quickly. Staff very friendly and proactive. Thanks so much! Only one poor lovely gentleman running around trying to cook and serve and take orders from all the guests - I recommend hiring an extra pair of hands!
- Szabolcs (9/5): Superb -
- Amy (3/5): Disappointed - The location is great after the colca canyon hike and it’s cool that they get resources down there with a mule which explains why it’s a bit more expensive Hygiene standards are very low and there is only one option for meals, if you arrive at 3pm you have to wait until 7pm to eat anything. It was fine for one night but we found it to be overpriced for what it was. Rooms are ok but pool is dirty. A thunderstorm cut off all electricity so we couldn’t charge our phones for the hike the next day but I appreciate it’s not their fault
- Kato (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, good food, perfect to hike up to Cabanaconde center from here. Not very clean
- Mairead (10/5): Exceptional -
- Woohyun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mariusz (8/5): Good value for money - I have a mixed feelings - on one hand it wasn't bad, on the other there's a lot things which can be easily improved.
First, the property, like a whole Sangalle, looks better on photos or from a top of the canyon. When you get there it's still nice but it isn't well maintained.
Restaurant, garden and swimming pool are nice. Rooms are very simple (no furniture, no shower curtain or even a mirror). In reviews I saw many people complaining about cleanliness, I don't agree (at least not fully) but I understand - the room wasn't dirty but it requires some renovation and improvements. Also, there was a lot of small insects and by a lot I mean hundreds of them (fortunately harmless).
Water wasn't cold like many people write but it wasn't hot neither.
In general it's ok for one night and as far as I know other accommodation in the canyon are more or less the same. Rooms renovation is needed or at least some improvements like a mirror or a shower curtain.
But my biggest complain is a payment. The price was $22.50 what's equal to 85 soles. However, I was asked to pay 100 soles (I guess they added 18% VAT which only Peruvians suppose to pay). Showing the price in the app didn't help as they claim that "all their guests pay 100 soles".
- Tom (9/5): Superb -
- Isaac (10/5): Exceptional - The food and the pool. The man working there was lovely and accommodating
- Celine (8/5): Very good - Very friendly staff, beautiful place and nice confortable room with good wifi (pretty impressive knowing the location!) No hot shower
- Traveller (5/5): Passable - The pool was nice. Dinner and breakfast were ok. Staff was pretty grumpy when we arrived. The rooms were not super clean (I'm not sure if they had exchanged the sheets at all) and didn't feel very safe. Everything is spread out a lot and there was almost no one around. I was also charged more than I was supposed to pay and dinner was 25 soles.
- Silvia (6/5): Pleasant - The location was amazing and staff really friendly & helpful No hot shower, bed really hard and uncomfortable.
Quite expensive, breakfast can be better.
- Rachel (8/5): Very good -
- Kiran (9/5): Superb - The dinner was simple but really tasty, and just what I wanted after a long day hiking. The pool was amazing!
- Stefanie (9/5): Nice place to rest after hiking - Staff was friendly. Breakfast and dinner were good. Rooms are basic, but clean. Really nice pool, especially after hiking. Only hot water on sunny days because of solar panels, didn't bother us. The area had a lot of junk lying around and could have been cleaner.
- Jordan (10/5): Must visit accomodation in the Oasis - Stunning surrounding, friendly staff, good food.
- Mike (10/5): paradise, great staff, super helpful! partner was sick and needed a mule back out of the canyon, staff helped her get ou - perfect for a hike, little paradise at the bottom of colca canyon would really prefer if the staff mentioned you needed to book a mule night before to be guaranteed a lift back up the canyon
- Zarja (8/5): A relaxing stay in the oasis! - Perfect location in the middle of the Sangalle oasis and the path leading uphill to Cabanaconde is just behind the main building! Property is well taken care of with the pool being cleaned in the morning and a big terrace to chill on. Lodge itself was nice, but the shower was not spectacularly hot nor was the bed very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were quite simple but delicious and the staff were warm and welcoming, even spoke some English. Shower was not as hot as elsewhere – lukewarm at most. And the mattress was very firm and thus rather uncomfortable.
- Steli0 (9/5): It's like a reward - The location of course is perfect and the hosts made the place real cosy.
The pool is a real extra and it wasn't crowded at all. It's real value for money Showers were not very hot
- Van (9/5): Superb - This was a great lodge! The lodges were very comfy and had a private bathroom which was great. The pool was also very pretty and nice to chill after the hike.
- Maria (8/5): Very good - pool :) dinner and the huge pancake for breakfast
- Emily (8/5): Very good - Nice to have a pool to swim after a long hike! The staff were very nice and accommodating. The prices for food and drink are reasonable considering they are brought in by donkey. We were lucky to see no scorpions. As others say the rooms are very bare boned.
- Hugo (9/5): Overall fantastic - The amazing pool and wonderful tropical garden that really did feel like Eden or paradise They ran out of bottled water to buy!
- Ben (9/5): Paradise in the valley - Really amazing place, clean pool refilled every day, such nice staff. Amazing views, facilities. Room is great, not much hot water, but it's ok. Missing a mirror in the room
Kiosk prices of water
Couldn't find the place through the lodges searched for 20 minutes, no signage
- Giancarlo (10/5): Great place - - Great & friendly staff
- Great place
- Hot water (!)
- Good Wifi
- Thinking about where the Hotel is, it's luxury level
- Lucía (8/5): Very good - The pool is lovely, perfect after a long hike. There’s hot(ish) shower and rooms with private bathroom.
Their staff was very accommodating, and they prepared lunch, dinner and very early breakfast. The room is a bit basic, it needs some hooks or a chair or something. We had to put everything on the floor and we couldn’t hang our towels anywhere.
The prices of the meals are quite high compared to other places in the Colca Canyon trek.
- Fabian (9/5): Arriving in paradise - The whole area is just so beautiful. After hiking most of the day it felt like arriving in paradise.
We really enjoyed the pool and relaxing for the afternoon and the evening. Unfortunately the charge really high prices for bottles of water, but I think all of the lodges in the Oasis charge these prices for hikers simply because they can
- Valentina (7/5): Really peaceful staying and nice welcoming staff - The staff has been really welcoming.
The dinner and breakfast were really good.
The oasis and place is really nice and very peaceful. It could be improved with more care in the room.
I know for the place is tough, but a little more attention to room clean and door closure to avoid insects inside.
Water was quite cold but understandable for the place.
The lodge needs to be better indicated since we had to go in all the lodges present in the oasis to understand where to go.
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wrighty626 (9/5): Little oasis in the middle of the Andes 😄Recommend! - Little oasis in the middle of the Andes 😄 Lovely staff. Needs a coffee machine (I know I sound spoilt..)
- Emily (10/5): The best place in Colca Cañon! - We absolutely loved this place. After a long hike from Llahuar, we were delighted to arrive at this stunning oasis. We arrived about 11 so got the pool all to ourselves before lunch. After lunch more people had arrived, but it was still a lovely chilled vibe. The food was delicious. Lots of traditional Peruvian treats. Plus papayas straight from the trees (July) and herbal tea with herbs grown on site. We decided to stay another night and had a lovely time getting to know the friendly staff and their pets. I had a quick wander around on our second day and think we definitely chose the most chill, greenest and prettiest of the accommodation choices in Sangalle. We really didn't want to leave. Many thanks to Jefer, Sandra and Nacho for a fabulous stay.
- Chantal (9/5): Superb - Great pool and social areas, soo idyllic! Also the staff was very lovely. Matrasses were lil bit uncomfortable
- Pascale (10/5): Exceptional - Nice personeel, environment swimming pool Insects in room
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Mirka (9/5): Superb - Staff was super friendly, location great, clean rooms Scorpion in my room and no toilet paper, not hot shower and you cannot pay with credit card
- Károly (10/5): Exceptional -
