Guest Reviews
- Tricia (7/5): Will come back. - A great stay. Breakfast was okay.
- Jeff (3/5): Wish I stayed somewhere else. - The staff were excellent. Very friendly The hotel is very dated and no maintenance has been carried out in a long time. Lights are hanging off walls, tiles are broken, mirrors were dirty. Even sliding door was broken. Badly in need of a make over
- Ayoun khawaja (10/5): -
- Dillon (6/5): Good value for money and activities for all ages. A bit run down in desperate need of some love and a facelift - Resort style and cost affective, rooms are good. Desperate need of TLC and a face lift. Golf course also poor condition
- Megan (5/5): - Bed was comfortable Uncleanness of the room and unfinished repairs to room
- Rhonda (5/5): A roof over my head for the night - It felt very void of personality and love
It’s been left to it’s environment absolutely just a tax write off for Ramada
- Cameron (10/5): -
- Sanjay (5/5): - Location Wasnt maintained well, shower was leaking, tv didnt work, carpet in room was quite dirty., pool wasn't clean at all, breakfast was just ok
- Jon (6/5): -
- Ellen (8/5): - So much to do!
Friendly staff and went the extra mile with Easter for the kids
This is our second year visit for Easter and we'll likely be back next year too.
- Joanne (5/5): It was ok. The staff were lovely. - Comfy bed, room was tidy but tiles were filthy.
Bathroom is very dated and small. Comfy bed, room was tidy but tiles were filthy.
Bathroom is very dated and small
- Amanda (8/5): Lovely location and 70’s charm. Definitely go again. - The resort is in a beautiful location and has a lovely feel about it. Not that we didn’t like, but sadly, a lack of love has meant that the exterior, once the pinnacle of luxury resorts, is now neglected and a little sad.
- Guest (7/5): -
- Ping (8/5): - Relaxing.
- Sommer (10/5): -
- Nicole (5/5): Good to visit but disappointing. - The breakfast and staff were amazing. The buildings are very tired. The non working water features had gone stagnant. Could be more lighting for walking to and from pavilion at night, especially when golf buggies are sharing the path!
- Hayila91 (8/5): A Hidden Gem with Incredible Service - Staff: Extremely personable at both check-in and check-out - made a great first and last impression.
Breakfast experience: The included buffet breakfast was phenomenal. The food was delicious and varied, and the restaurant staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and kid-friendly. A really lovely way to start the day.
Room: Great size with a beautiful view. Comfortable and well set up, with thoughtful touches like extra pillows in the cupboard.
Location & arrival: The drive into the Kooralbyn was absolutely spectacular - sets the tone for the stay. Dated features: Some areas (like reception and parts of the room) feel a little outdated.
Maintenance touches: Minor things like paint touch-ups and older appliances could use an upgrade but nothing that impacted the stay in a major way.
- Rens (7/5): - Good location, large room and friendly personell It was all a bit outdated and our wifi didn't work in the room
- Brooke (6/5): Nice, but no washing machine or microwave - Neat, clean No microwave in room, too far out. And washing facilitie didn’t work.
- Chao (1/5): Not pleasant - Affordibility compred to other options What I found most disappointing about this place comes down to several serious issues.
First, the staff attitude was frankly unacceptable. When I reported that the WiFi was not working, the staff member didn’t even bother to respond properly — she simply handed me a note saying no password was required. I clearly explained that the issue was not the password, but that I could not access the network at all. Only then did she reluctantly reply that “everyone has the same problem.” This kind of dismissive and indifferent response is simply not acceptable in any service environment.
Second, the facilities are in poor condition and clearly outdated. The balcony in our room was large, but many of the tiles were broken or missing, and there was visible rust across surfaces. Overall, the property feels neglected and poorly maintained.
More concerning, however, is the safety issue. During the night after around 9:30–10 PM, I found the lobby doors locked from the inside — not only the main entrance, but also an additional inner door. A sign suggested calling a phone number in case of emergency, which is frankly alarming. What happens if there is a fire or a real emergency? For example, one night around 10 PM I needed to go out to charge my electric vehicle, but I was effectively trapped inside the building!
Overall, the working staff appears to prioritize their own convenience over basic guest needs and safety. It is also difficult to believe that management is unaware of how poorly these situations are being handled by staff. This reflects a serious failure in both service standards and operational oversight.
- Maddie (9/5): - Friendly and accommodating staff when we changed our booking. Aircon a bit loud, but needed as warm night.
- Edwards (8/5): - Clean, compfortable Bit pricey, but I had limited choice
- Ben (7/5): Staff were amazing, the golf course great. The place however, needs a renovation. - The staff are so wonderful. Friendly and welcoming.
Golf course was great. Some amazing scenery. The place is very run down. Everything needs to be renovated and bought up to par. Cheap TVs, bathrooms have seen better days. Please purchase new mattresses, I felt like I was sinking into a hole.
- Rachael (3/5): -
- Geoffrey (9/5): -
- Maddie (9/5): Great comfortable resort. - Position. Comfort and friendly and helpful staff. Air conditioner a bit loud but necessary as a warm night.
- sixtus (7/5): -
- Jan (3/5): Bed and breakfast ok but room and facing were terrible - The bed was comfortable and Karen at front desk was exceptional and Tanya at the breakfast was so friendly The bathroom was so poor, door didn’t close, door knob fell off, two drawers below basin were permanently open very inconvenient, no internet at all so the nice big tv was useless, deck was filthy and the outdoor furniture covered in cobwebs. Will never recommend to anyone and our room was next to partying golfers who continued to party until 1am. So bad👎
- warwick (5/5): - The setting was so beautiful, the place needs a good paint and clean up
- Maddie (8/5): Great for a short break. - Friendly staff. Organised rooms at short notice. Food and drink at the pub next door! Air conditioner was roaring - all night.
- Takeuchi (8/5): -
- Naki (7/5): -
- Hannah (3/5): -
- Gregory (8/5): Lovely, above expectations! - The Resort was above my expectations- clean, beautiful environs, presented with care Obviously was built and at its peak in a bygone era but still offered a quality stay
- evie (3/5): -
- russell (7/5): We have been many times to the resort. I think the first was in the early 1980s soon after it opened - Breakfast below standard
Not many guests would make it hard to keep the buffet looking fresh so understood Sheets and brown bed covers at foot of bed in particular had a damp smell
- Tjaart (8/5): -
- Pawan (9/5): -
- Natasha (7/5): -
- Pam (8/5): great Golf, nice well kept pools, spectacular surrounds - The pool area is lovely. And the golf course is really great!!! Gardens and surrounds are beautiful lots of kangaroos. Just dont expect too much and you wont be dissapointed - the hotel itself has had its day but you can see the glory it once had... almost like staying in an abandoned place.. :) But we love it - beds and sheets are good quality... the curry place down the road is awesome - and the pub was fun...
- Nicole (6/5): -
- Winter (3/5): - Loved the grounds away from the hotel, breakfast was delicious 👌
Staff were all extremely lovely! Dirty, falling down, needs alot of repairs everywhere, photos aren't what we walked into.
Its a shame because its such an amazing location and could be so fabulous if someone did it up!
- Peroth (10/5): - Nature and the exterior of the resort Room facility
- Rebecca (5/5): -
- Megan (7/5): -
- Manjula (7/5): - Very friendly staff and comfortable large room. Nothing which I didn't like
- JVu (9/5): -
- Bianca (8/5): -
- Alexandra (8/5): -
- Urvashi (9/5): -
- Shane (3/5): We enjoyed our golf... Unlikely to ever revisit Or recommend. - Unfortunately nothing. All smorgasbord was very average in its cooking and we're all Luke warm :(
Scrambled eggs were very distasteful.
Just overall very disappointing.
The volunteers do a great job but of course disappointing that the Cart paths are in such disrepair.
Room service ..what a joke. ( See attached pic ) after someone had been to do daily service ...
- Fox (7/5): -
- Jennifer (6/5): The rooms were clean and enjoyed walking around the resort. - Beautiful mountains and scenery surrounded it. Walking around was enjoyable. The breakfast was good. It needs some general maintenance and cleaning. There were cleaning items in the restaurant and some of the areas are very rundown. With some TLC they could bring this resort to its former glory
- ANDREW (4/5): -
- Saurabh (3/5): - Got room 1 hour after standard check in time.
- Kunjal (4/5): - The location is beautiful. The facilities are not maintained, except the pool and golf driving.
I had requested delux king suite with mountain view or golf view. I didn't get the room I requested, the staff was not ready to help accommodate my request, blaming it on booking.com.
Room was not cleaned properly, there were used cup and saucers that were not removed before we checked in. Also, no room cleaning was not on the next day.
Kids sofa come bed was not comfortable at all, had a huge gap at the head side. We had to stuff up pillows to prevent my kid sliding through it.
- Hughes (10/5): Let's slow down and pause life for a second - Husband and I went away for the first time in two years together for a reset, we wanted a quiet location with everything we needed close by. This resort delivered everything we needed and wanted. We both agreed that this place was one of the best we have stayed out especially for service and quality. We had dinner and breakfast at lillies restaurant the food was amazing and to die for! Especially the grass fed rib fillet. Tanya was absolutely amazing and a credit to the resort her cocktails were next level and her service went above and beyond. We also had lunch at the tavern once again the food was pretty darn good. All the staff were friendly and polite. Our room was very comfortable. We loved watching all the wild life that was around the resort. Although this place had a old charm feel to it, it certainly made the new fancier resorts we have stayed in feel terrible in comparison. Everything about this place screams relaxation , let's slow down for a minute and let's enjoy each other's company....let's make the world pause for a second so we can catch our breath. Even if we don't play golf 😆 The older style TV's in the rooms made it difficult to watch. But it really wasn't a big deal as we found other ways to amuse ourselves
- Fiona (7/5): -
- Silvia (7/5): - The room was good and the bed very comfortable. The unkempt state of the whole place. Very unloved.
- Annette (10/5): - Friendliness of the staff. No cutlery or microwave in the room
- sharon (8/5): - The room with a balcony, the size of the room That it did look some what run down every where we looked
- Stuart (9/5): -
- Russell (7/5): Confortable & pleasant . Would recommend to anyone - Spacious & clean Nothing really stuck out
- Sharon (9/5): Fabulous !!!! - The staff on reception and housekeeping… they are friendly, funny and entertaining. The overall cleanliness has improved a lot since our last stay, and it was good to see the broken furniture and lights removed. Water dragons are always fun.
- Amber (10/5): Wonderful stay amongst nature - Location was beautiful, the resort sits amongst the beautiful nature of Kooralbyn. The staff were wonderful and all be dry friendly and helpful. Only thing was we didn’t know the onsite restaurant would be closed during the week so we had limited dinner options. But the local tavern made up for it with a great dinner at a good price.
- Belinda (5/5): Needs a lot of work to clean it up and have it all open and operating - Bed was comfortable Run down needs a good clean, need to repair mouldy areas, holes in walls, runners on sliding doors, rubbish in patio area
- COOK (4/5): - The Willd life Karen Cook was the only proffesional staff member , thd rest were rude , The food was not worth the pricev and was microwaved with ridiculous portions of veg , mini golf needs to be upgraded at pavillikn
- Jake (8/5): - The rooms had a door in between as it would most likely be a connected room if booked that way but it allows to much noise from the neighbours in
- Kylie (5/5): Not returning. - The peace and quite of the area and the little Pavilion down the road. The entire complex needs a MAJOR do over. Our room was comfortable enough although we shared it with 2 cockroaches, spider webs and a daddylong legs. Paint work chipping away with no clear attempt to vacuum. Our balcony was not safe for us to use, as the balcony above had had some previous patch up done. The floor above had leaks making the patch up work to drip constantly on to the tiles at our feet. Which had permanent stains and corrosion from said patch up. The balcony had not been swept. Render from the walls falls away on to the flooring. Powder like dust all OVER balcony floor. Was a massive health and safety issue.
- Sarah (6/5): -
- Nikita (7/5): - Buffet breakfast was okay, the staff were lovely and there were lots of activities. While there was lots to do, there were even more activities that just weren’t available. Grounds are in desperate need of a facelift.
- Kaori (7/5): - Huge property with many fun activities to do. I was hiking Mt Barney, and here was convenient location for me to stay.
- Cecilia (10/5): -
- Ryan (8/5): -
- Emilyn-Mae (4/5): -
- elissia (8/5): -
- Jen821 (5/5): - We love the location The Hotel needs a tender love and care.Very Outdated and needs a deep clean, but the location was superb. Breakfast can be improved.
- Alejandra (5/5): It was good, but I expected something better. - Property has a really good pool even so, it needs a little maintenance around Very dirty surroundings; the room's balcony had food on it, and the bathroom had hair in it. All the facilities require maintenance.
- Joyce (10/5): - Staff were great swimming pools buffet perfect
- Amarnath (5/5): Ok for the payment, can't recommend needs improvements. - Its too far from Surfers Paradise, basic appliances like toster, coffee maker, or cutlery could be added, for their claim of 4 start. Balcony, swimming pool and surrounds are not clean and ithey ate not for use. Some appliances to be added and maintain clean balcony, swimming pools and tidy in and around the resort.
- Harriet (1/5): Don’t expect much from your stay here. It is not great. - There was an issue with a pipe and raw sewage spilled across the entry to our room meaning we were unable to access it at all without walking through it. They did not even offer to change our room until we had complained 3 times. It was completely unacceptable.
- Steven (3/5): - The facilities are really run down. The render on the walls is crumbling and tiles are falling off. Many of the boards on the deck and the hand rails are rotten. The buffet dinner was very poor, especially given the price. We paid for a king suite but it was no better than the regular rooms - on the gorund floor overlooking overgrown garden and the car park. The room appeared to have some attempts at renovation but ungrouted tiles around the sink and a capped off waste pipe in the second room just made it feel very shoddy.
- Kathleen (7/5): Great for a short stay - Pool is great. Buffet at lilies is great. Extra dining options extremely limited I couldn't believe that when it rained, the lifts actually flooded.
- Amandeep Singh (4/5): Not worth it - Property needs a lot attention around cleanliness and maintenance Cleanliness and amenities
- Amandeep Singh (4/5): -
- Tyson (6/5): -
- Judy (3/5): -
- Sophie (8/5): -
- spinaze (3/5): - The tavern for was good Very dirty apartment. Carpets were deterated as was the whole property ( balcony was never cleaned sand dirt covered, cracks down structural walls.) Toilet leaking in bathroom floor. Whole property has no money spent on in decades, abandoned mini golf course, stagnant water into the creek thing that runs through middle ( inside) ,1 of 3 pools was green with algae. Whole place should be shut down and maintenance and cleaning be done before any one else stays.
- Rodney (8/5): - Beautiful location and a golf course with so much potential. The facilites are ideally located. Great staff effort to keep the place running so well Facility was clean but needs to be brought up to the standards of yesteryear. Floods and site aged with a need for maintenance and upgrades
- Mark (7/5): Great value for money ✅ - Dated but completely comfortable ✅
- Mandy (9/5): Great stay - Lots of facilities, clean and comfortable. The bathroom. The door needs to be solid not slats.
- Julie (6/5): - Mould on the ceiling
- Gordon (6/5): - Comfortable bed, large room Outdated, no restraunt open, very small bathroom, garden bed on balcony was full of broken fibro sheeting possibly was asbestos
- Julie (4/5): Disappointing - The room was spacious with a nice outlook. It was clean but tired in appearance. I specifically paid the extra for a room with spa bath and it was very disappointing to find the water was luke warm and went cold very quickly due to the size of the bath and the spout of the tap. No hope of a hot bath evem though i ran full hot water. Tried evening and morning with same results. Also tiles missing at the edge of the bath, nroken handles on vanity. .I also smashed my head on the tv sticking oiut from the wall.
- Sarah (9/5): -
- John (1/5): Would not recommend - The location The accomodation was old, dirty and smelt musty. The staff were not accomodating.
- Shop (10/5): -
- david (5/5): Underwhelming Kooralbyn Resort. This place needs a massive make over if it is to be considered as a - Breakfast was good. Dinner at the restaurant was ordinary. We were first into the restaurant and the food was Luke warm There were labels to tell you what you were eating. Risk of salmonella is hight!!!!! The place is very run down. Mould in the bathroom. Rotting floor boards on the deck. We were in a penthouse and the garden bed was full of fibro or asbestos and polystyrene. Loose tiles in the entrance that actually move when you walk on them.
- Anish (9/5): it was nice and handy - its was nice exeperience dok
