• Bill (1/5): Neglected property fails to measure up - No provisions for breakfast. Owner was out of the country. I paid in advance for three nights but left the property the first morning due to conditions there. The host was out of country, advising me that "the door auto locks so you must have the keys with you when exiting the property. i am not currently in the UK so if you lock yourself out it's possible you will have to book a hotel for the night due to self locking doors," It was clear that I was on my own to deal with any problems that emerged. Here's what I encountered: 1. There was a leak in the toilet seal causing unsanitary puddling around the base of the toilet. 2. Mold was present in the grout around the tub/shower. 3. Sheets in the bedroom were threadbare and pilled. 4. Laundry had been left in the washing machine contributing to the overall neglect of the property. By the next morning, I stopped looking for any more health hazards and booked another property in York. I shared these observations by email with the Host during my departure. That afternoon, the Host responded by email: "Good afternoon I’m so sorry to hear that. I can send someone round now to fix the issues for you." These issues should have been addressed well before the property was offered for booking. During my two-week vacation, I stayed in four other Booking.com properties that met or surpassed my expectations. Unfortunately, York City Apartments did not measure up due to chronic neglect.
• Heidi (1/5): Total Nightmare - Nothing! This was by far the worst accommodation I’ve ever experienced. The moment we opened the door, we were hit by a horrendous stench, a combination of rotting trash and mildew. It was immediately clear that the apartment had not been cleaned in a long time. Once inside, we found: Slimy drains emitting foul odors Mold covering parts of the walls Pet hair everywhere, including furniture and bedding Dirty interiors, grime in every corner What looked like human excrement on the bed sheets It was absolutely disgusting. We were forced to go out late at night to buy new bedding, just to have something clean to sleep on. We contacted the host immediately. He said he would send a cleaner that night, no one showed up. He promised again for the next morning, still no one. At that point, we had no choice but to leave early and find alternative accommodations. The smell was so pervasive it soaked into our clothes and luggage, we had to find a laundromat the next day just to wash everything we brought. This property was not only falsely advertised, it was unhygienic and potentially a health hazard. I cannot stress this enough: do not book this place unless you want to spend your trip dealing with filth, broken promises, and additional expenses. Total nightmare.

• Joanna (9/5): Lovely, comfy and convenient place to stay. - The location was great for us as only a 3 min walk to my daughters new house. We helped her move. Easy to park and nice and quiet. Struggled with the TV. Couldn't work it and ended up watching what we could rather than having a choice. We couldn't find any instructions. So maybe something to add to the welcome book?
• Deanne (9/5): Superb - The apartment was a pleasure to stay in clean and comfortable. Slight problem with the address which gave us a different location from the direction map connected to the site. Heating in the flat is a bit unpredictableit was rather cool overnight and could not be adjusted.
• Paul (8/5): Great value for money. - Clean and well equipped, very peaceful, and a good location. Struggled to get TV to work, and tap in bathroom needs looking at, TV could be us not understanding it .
• Beatrice (9/5): Perfect comfortable apartment, easily accessible to York with everything you could need. - We had a wonderful stay at Ryan’s apartment. It was well equipped, spacious, beautifully decorated with luxurious extras we weren’t expecting such as hand cream, tea, coffee, a hotel chocolat coffee machine etc. The shower was powerful and it had a bath too which was a bonus for us. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of hanging and drawer space. Parking was easy right outside in the car park and there was little noise from adjoining properties. Plenty of local shops, including a very good Off Licence/Store that sold a brilliant selection of home made cakes, pastries, quiches etc two minutes walk away. Ryan was very responsive to questions and the arrangements for key collection were very easy and straightforward. This will be my 1st choice for future visits to York when visiting my daughter and grandson. It gave us independence and my 5 yr old granddaughter who came with us loved her cosy bedroom. It wasn’t a huge problem but I would have like a bigger selection of TV channels. Band width was also a bit slow so internet suffered at times. The plumbing was quirky, and a bit noisy at times, the kitchen tap came on when we ran the bath! If fully self catering, dry food storage space was limited as all the kitchen cupboards were full of crockery, equipment etc, but it wasn’t too difficult to have it scattered around elsewhere. Food preparation surface space if cooking a meal from scratch is very limited but we managed by moving appliances we didn’t use.

• Rebecca (7/5): Good location and a good flat. - Plenty of space, nice neighbourhood. Shower was great and the beds were comfy. We could have done with instructions for the heating and cooker. The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner.

Pub just around the corner and shops very near. We couldn’t get TV to work…would have been good to have some information how to use…think it was a smart tv ( we are not good with tech)
