Guest Reviews
- Jean Marc (10/5): -

Je recommande ++
- marie christine (9/5): Une belle expérience - Accueil chaleureux

- JULIA ANN (9/5): Keur Mama Africa & Ousseinu enhanced our stay in Saint-Louis. - Ousseinu who runs it was amazing. He is young, full of energy, takes great pride in running Keur Mama Africa. He did everything to help us & ensure our stay was as perfect as possible. He organised an evening meal for us every evening & served a great breakfast that included home made jam & juice. The area around was a new experience for us but we soon understood that it was friendly, fascinating & totally authentic, the real Saint-Louis & also walking distance to the fish market. Keur Mama Africa was instrumental in understanding Senegal. & its people. Only downside is that it was quite far from the centre of the city but we had fun finding ways to reach it.
- Jan (9/5): Perfect, I recommend it. - If you want an authentic experience, I highly recommend this place. The rooms are clean and the staff is nice. We felt very comfortable. Ousseynou helped us with all our questions. He was very helpful. The location is further from the center, but you can use a taxi or if you want an experience, the local bus. We took the bus number 3 a few times.
We also went to see the beach which is 5 minutes away - incredibly dirty.
- Mariano (9/5): S - I loved everything and the host was amazingly helpful. Super clean room and linen, big bathroom. Loved the location in the middle of the fish village, but for my needs it was a bit too far from the center. Location a bit too far from the center
- Pierre (9/5): - Personnel tres accueillant tres propre
Bon petit dejeuner
Bon conseil
- Monique (10/5): -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kawthar (10/5): Exceptional - I had a great stay, this island is much more quiet than the French island. Which makes it more local, and authentic as well. Keur mama Africa is situated in a fishermen community, where real life happens at the front door. Kids playing, women cooking, and little shops which sells bread twice a day. If you want to spend relaxing days, at the rhythms of the sunrise, sea and the beach, then Keur mama Africa is perfect for you.
Plus it was really easy to travel to the French island, Ousseynou was so helpful and friendly! He showed me how to take the local taxi, where to eat on the French island and the local spots!
- Hannah (9/5): Great local place ! -
- Iria (10/5): Absolutely outstanding experience. I truly felt like I was at home! - From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. A special thank you to Hussain, whose kindness, attentiveness, and professionalism made all the difference during my stay. He went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. His thoughtful presence added a truly personal touch.
The premises were immaculate and beautifully maintained. Every detail, from the cleanliness of the rooms to the inviting communal areas, reflected a high standard of care . I felt extremely comfortable throughout my entire stay: peaceful, relaxed, and completely at ease, as though I were in my own home.
I’ll definitely be coming back, because it’s rare to find a place where you feel so genuinely welcome and looked after. Thank you once again, Hussain, for making this stay so memorable. I can’t wait to return!
- Park (9/5): Superb - First and foremost, the room was very affordable and bed was very comfortable. Washroom, although I had to share, was very clean and with much hot water so that was also great. Staff was so helpful in organizing transportation to and fro. I and my friend did not speak good French, but the staff was trying to communicate with us as much as possible. Breakfast included baguettes and teas, coffee, juice; it was simple but very nice. I found the baguette to be the best in Senegal. Definitely recommend this place to everyone visiting St. Louis. Location was little far from the town center, but staff still helped me to try local bus that took me to there, which was an experience I would recommend. Little noise from outside at night, although it did not disturb my sleep : )
- Pau (8/5): Very good -
- Jolanta (10/5): A little oasis of tranquility - I spent wonderful time in Mama Africa. The płace is like an oasis of tranquility in town. Cozy room, hot water, hospitable and helpful hosts. I definitely recommend!
- Alexia (10/5): Exceptional - A big and comfortable room with private bathroom, clean and quiet, with gentle hosts and beautiful decoration. There is also a nice art shop supporting the local humanitarian association. We fully recommend it!
- Lubomir (8/5): Amazing people, poor location. - Everything was great staff is lovely, rooms are very clean, price on booking is fair for what you get in my opinion. The location is way far from everything and I mean even places to grab some food. You need to walk around 30 mins to find anything or pay for dinner there. If didn’t have my motorbike with me I would have canceled my 2nd night as going anywhere was a bit of a chore.
The neighborhood kids will swarm you if you come with a moto etc. This is nice at first but gets a bit annoying every time you go out. There’s no way to get here with a car it’s very soft sand for the last 100m - don’t try it even with a 4x4 you are likely to have a lot of issues (tight streets and turns and guys blocking whole streets with huge fishing nets. For a motorbike (if it’s an adv one there’s very tight parking on their terrace which requires jumping a 30cm step each time and turning quite tightly to fit (Honda crf 300).
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Esmira (10/5): Just stay here to catch good vibes - This is a very peaceful and nice place, which is situated just in few kms from city center (u can easily catch the taxi for 1000 cfa).
Next to the beach and sunsets.
Extremely clean and quiet (except happy kids laugh).
And if you just want to make smth good - just book this place, which was made by Humanitarian association to help people with job.
There is a small shop with drinks and snacks in few meters, plus you can ask for a breakfast. In other case - 5 mins by taxi toward ile Nord (the city center).
Also u can ask for a dinner, which will be cooked by the lady next door, menu is fine.
There are rooms with bathroom inside and rooms with shared bathroom.
And the bed - it's extremely comfortable! There was no aircon which is OK for December (nights are fresh here), but if you have some health issues, u should consider it
