Guest Reviews
- David (2/5): - Awful place, cockroaches in room, bathroom smelt horrendous, worst place I've ever stayed, if you're looking for somewhere near to paddington you'd be better off sleeping on the station floor all night
- Verified traveler (2/5): Disgusting - Absolutely disgusting don’t waste your time booking.
- Samantha (2/5): Terrible disgusting filthy hotel- DO NOT STAY - Absolutely filthy, dirt, urine stains on bedding, urine smell in room. Revolting bathroom, dirt everywhere. Windows cracked and covered in dirt. Do not stay here. We had to find another hotel as it’s not fit for purpose. Images on the hotel advertisement are not for this hotel they are fake. Worst hotel I have ever seen.
- Jagruti (2/5): - Worst stay of my life the bathroom is full of molds, cockroaches around, dirty rooms and dirty stains everywhere, foul smell, no heating the only good thing was the bathroom had hot water. I would never stay in here… bad very bad
- Safari10868283144 (2/5): HORRIBLE. FILTHY. WHAT A NIGHTMARE. - The photos are nowhere near the actual situation of the place. As soon as we walked in at the reception, it is obvious that NIP IS A KIP. It is NOT WELL MAINTAINED.
Much to our dismay, our room is the worst place I have ever stayed at. I’m sure their every room is the same. It was a dark box room with UNCOMFORTABLE AND OLD MATTRESS. The curtain was FULL OF DUST and we started sneezing and having sinusitis. The back of the old cabinet was FULL OF DUST AND RUBBISH. Very DISGUSTING. They even placed a very old bedside table that is STAINED AND YUCKY. CARPET IS FILTHY.
Much more, the toilet is UNBEARABLE. Very basic but the condition is much less than standard. We couldn’t even use the shower because IT IS FULL OF HAIR AND SOAP SCUMS. CLOGGED drainage. Very disgusting.
Because we couldn’t stand the situation anymore, I talked to the receptionist but he was not helpful and did not care at all. He also insisted that the booking is NON-REFUNDABLE despite their BIG NEGLIGENCE.
The highlight of our stay was the LEAKING CEILING LIKE RAIN which started at 6:30AM and we were not able to rest any more. We packed our bags and left.
They agreed to refund 80% of the fee, but they don’t even deserve that 20% for the situation that we experienced. To be honest. WE WERE TRAUMATIZED. I NEEDED TO HAVE COUPLE OF SHOWERS TO WASH DOWN THE DIRT FROM MY BODY.
They only want to take profit, but did not care about their service. How can you offer such business without maintaining your rooms? HORRIBLE.
MISLEADING PHOTOS ON BOOKING APPS. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!
- Richard (2/5): Filthy, Disgusting - Sleep at the station - I had the misfortune of booking this hotel for a recent trip to London (Dec 2024). Arriving in London at 1:30AM myself and my husband traveled over to the hotel. As we opened the door to head to the reception desk we were greeted by dated and run down interior and a carpet that was threadbare and filthy. The reception desk was not much better, held together with duct tape, filthy yellow walls and a receptionist that was slouched in a chair in a shirt that was a filthy grey/yellow colour (I can only assume if it had seen a washing machine this year it would have been white). On giving my name the receptionist threw a key at me and asked me to 'check the room before payment was taken' to which I asked 'what exactly am I checking for!'. I went down to the room which was accessed via a stairwell in the cupboard under the stairs to the basement level (which to be honest was more reminiscent of a dungeon). On entering the room the walls were covered in black mold, the bedding was filthy and there were a number of large bugs running around the floor of the room.
I left the room immediately and told the receptionist that I was not willing to stay in that room. To which he replied, 'I don't have any other rooms but you won't be charged'. Myself and my husband then left and found alternative accommodation. You would think that would have been the end of my experience with this 'hotel'! However they charged my card the full amount and when I phoned them they refused a refund.
- _M4279GH (2/5): Avoid in all cost 🤮🤮 - This is the worst place I've ever been to, if I could rate it 0 I would. We arrived at the hotel in the evening, they gave us a room on the 5th floor, a spring mattress that was impossible to sleep on, blood stains on the sheets, a dirty shower, hallways full of trash. We asked to change rooms - they gave us another room that was just as dirty, a cockroach was running on the floor as soon as my partner opened the door. A disgusting room. We said we couldn't sleep there and they didn't give us any other solution, we went to look for another hotel and in the meantime they won't agree to refund our payment! shameful! Run away
- U9890EHdannyb (2/5): So bad we didn't stay. - It was so bad we walked out and stayed elsewhere - refused a refund. Don't even consider booking this place, honestly. Filthy, even in the hallways and reception, no blackout curtains or blinds, poorly maintained with furniture and fixtures damaged/broken. Run, don't walk, before you catch something!
- Rik1419 (2/5): FILTHY AWFUL HOTEL, DO NOT STAY - BETTER SLEEPING AT PADDINGTON STATION! - I had the misfortune of booking this hotel for a recent trip to London (Dec 2024). Arriving in London at 1:30AM myself and my husband travelled over to the hotel. As we opened the door to head to the reception desk we were greeted by dated and run down interior and a carpet that was threadbare and filthy.

You would think that would have been the end of my experience with this 'hotel'! However they charged my card the full amount and when I phoned them they refused a refund. I spoke to my booking agent who also phoned the hotel and they subsequently lied to the agent saying I was a 'no show' and that I would need to provide evidence of the fact that I had been there.
These hotels exploit tourists who they think will let things drop however I'm not that type of person and I don't like to be treated like a fool. I have since raised a refund request with my bank and contacted the local authorities Health and Safety department who are currently investigating this hotel. I will now do my upmost to ensure that this hotel is shut down by the local authority.
Take my advise do not book this filthy excuse of a hotel! I've stayed in a number of budget hotels around the world and at the very least the hotel should be clean and safe. This hotel is neither, and with the black mould is a clear health hazard which should be avoided.
- Louise (2/5): - DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL, EXTREMELY DIRTY AND FULL OF BUGS. We booked last minute due to train cancellations so were desperate and booked the first hotel we found that was close to the station. The bathroom was full of black mould, we didn't feel comfortable using the shower as it was so dirty. We went out to buy dry shampoo rather than showering there. There were cockroaches everywhere too. AVOID
- davewI9765GF (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Awful stay at this hotel. Our hotel room door wouldn’t lock and the hotel offered no solution - he had to blockade the door to ensure nobody entered unannounced during the high. The room was very dirty (see images attached) and the bathroom drain smelt really bad - I think the drains must have been blocked
- Verified traveler (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - Dreadful condition. Dirty, unkept. No lift. Felt unsafe. Avoid at all costs.
- Camille (2/5): - There was mould on the walls, I absolutely do not recommend it.
- David (2/5): Don’t stay here! - The rooms were tiny, run down with windows that did not close, the room smelled, it was in poor decorative order, there was a water pump or something in the room which kept coming on during the night, the rooms were on the 4th floor with steep narrow and winding stairs to them, really difficult to carry your bags upstairs.
- Emma (4/5): - Thankfully it was not as bad as some of the reviews suggested but it was still the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Booking in a rush and I didn't read the reviews before hand but I honestly don't really know how this is allowed to function as a hotel, the beds were the most uncomfortable thing I've ever slept on, the carpets were filthy and the bed sheets werent super clean. We were moved rooms after our door wouldn't lock and their offer to fix it in the morning wasn't accepted...the new room was better but still very very lacking...the windows didn't shut properly so banged constantly in the wind, there were stains all over the walls and carpets and the walls were paper thin.
I did sleep alright but mainly due to the fact I was so tired
The location was really clsoe to Paddington which was great but I really wouldn't recommend this hotel, it really felt like a youth hostel that should be about £20 a night...
- peter (2/5): - Will not be going there again the front dest staff rude and not clean
- Felipe (10/5): - Good location
- Uggers1979 (2/5): DO NOT STAY HERE - OMG - this is by far the worst hotel i've ever stayed in and at a cost of £100 a night its a complete rip off
I'm not sure where to start - everything about the place was awful, dirty bathroom, dirty carpets, curtains not fitting the window, millions of tight dangerous stairs to navigate, no toilet roll in my room - shower not working properly - so only tepid water then cold after about 2 mins
- rachelvF3692BJ (2/5): Disgusting!!! - In complete disbelief as to how this place has permission to function as a hotel. It is terrible, unclean, filthy and overpriced for what is provided!! We were given a room in the basement which had broken furniture, a bed that was nearly on the verge of breaking, filthy curtains, carpets that haven’t been cleaned for ages it seemed! We were so pleased that we were not there for long as it was only to sleep we needed the place and were out in the morning. Please don’t book here, don’t waste your money and health in this filthy place. Would never recommend this place to anybody. The station is very close and that perhaps is the only positive of this place!
I truly wish this place gets a wake up call from the concerned authorities and better themselves if they intend to stay in the business. Very disappointed!
Ps: if I had an option I wouldn’t even give this place a 1 rating!!
- Col Yakubu (6/5): - More efforts on maintenance
- annt765 (2/5): Absolute filth, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. Needs closing down - This is a disgusting place to stay (in fact disgusting is a too good a word for her). It is filthy, its like its never been cleaned in years. When we checked in we was given the choice of 2 rooms. The 1st room stunk, wallpaper hanging off the wall and light in bathroom didnt work, we walked straight out of there. Got shown to 2nd room on 4th floor and youve never seen anything like it. it was filthy. There wasnt a clean thing about it. The tv was so small you couldnt see it from the bed and the stand it was supposed to be on was broken, 1 of the lights above the bed was also broken. The bed was so uncomfortable bed I ever lay on. The only thing better about this room was it looked onto the front and not a brick wall. All the carpets were stained, the skirting boards was at least an inch full of filth and I cant even describe how dirty the toilet and shower was. This place needs closing down. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE
- Mark (4/5): - nice people...but i had to ask for a chair (there was none in the room) and for a water glass (there was none ... and he gave me a cardboard coffee cup)...room was cleaned only once in a six night stay, and then the maid left the dirty wet towels on the floor and did not even replace the toilet paper (which i had to ask for)....lumpy creaky bed
- Eric (2/5): - TV didnt work, bathroom needed a good scrubbing, there was not tea/coffee in room, reception were unhelpful to the point of being surly and sour, did raise matters with reception who merely said they would have to see their manager who was not around - this hotel needs to be inspected by the health authority - avoid at all costs you are better off sleeping rough than staying here
- Frkfryd93 (2/5): Stay away!! - This is the worst hotell ever!! DIRTY, DIRTY, DIRTY!!!! We booked 5 nights, slept one night with clothes on… the bedsheets was not cleaned before we came. Everything was dirty and disgusting!! 🤮 no help or apologies from the staff at the hotel. The bed was broken. And the room have mouses inside 🐭 DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!! It’s the worst!!! We moved to park grand Paddington court. Everything was 100% there, and the price was good!!
- Leo (2/5): - It's wasn't what I expected and it' was unexpectedly rooms I took photos of prove it's not worth the money.
- Zoe (2/5): Awful! Do not stay here! - There was a mouse in a room and the reception guy made me help him try catch it. After 5 failed attempts he finally had another room for us to stay. No mouse to be seen but the bathroom was a health hazard. Only ventilation was an open hole to outside and every surface had black mould on it. The silicon lining in the shower cubical was black with mould. The drain hole was broken. The shower stuck out an unfinished and open hole in the wall. The sink over filled. The whole bath smelled disgusting too. Bed was comfy enough. Only one available plug point in the room. The tv didn't work. Skirting boards hanging off the walls. The windows were terrible for noise pollution also and you could feel the room vibrant when an underground train left Paddington station
- Beth (2/5): - It was awful, unclean, incredibly hot, none of the provisions that were listed. Water was scolding hot.
- Joyce (2/5): - This hotel should not be on Hotels.Com's website!!! The room we were given was deplorable!
The carpet hadn't been vacuumed, the washroom... well the washroom resembled a truck stop rest room. The shower stall was filthy, there was previously used shower items left inside the shower.
The toilet has filthy, had grime and urine stains around the bowl. The sink was filthy, there was hair stuck to the wall next to the sink, from someone who had recently shaved.
The room was below such standards, that my wife was almost going to go and buy cleaning supplies to do a thorough clean of the room!
The front lobby area of the hotel was nothing like the pictures on the website. The front lobby area was unkempt, untidy and the fridge had only a couple of items in it. Not that we were looking for beverages... but the website shows a nice tidy, clean and fully stocked fridge... not the case!
We got into London very late/early in the morning. Could we have asked for a better room, sure we could've. Could we have left the hotel and found a better room, sure we could've.
But when you just travelled by train over-night and your exhausted, we just wanted a bed to sleep in and a roof over our heads.
Hotels.Com we are really serious... the Norfolk Inn Paddington, London, England, should be removed from your website, its not worthy and its misleading, as well as a filthy hotel.
We are seasoned travelers, who have been to many places around the globe... this is the worst hotel yet!
- Kate (4/5): - The hotel is really well located for Paddington Station and very well priced for London, but you really don’t get much for your money!
My room was on the lower ground floor beside the street, and I was woken during the night several times by different noises. Someone arrived at the hotel early in the morning and had a loud confrontation with the receptionist right outside my window which made it hard to get back to sleep.
The surfaces of the bedside tables were sticky and the place felt very unclean. Then, as I was leaving in the morning, I noticed a small cockroach run across the carpet!
I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you really need somewhere, although with a bit of love it has the potential to be a good hotel.
- DJMagicDave (2/5): Disgusting - This hotel is disgusting! Do not stay at this
Hotel. I left after one night but had booked two nights. Didn’t even ask for a refund, I just had to get away from this unclean, disgusting hotel as soon as I could. The staff were very unhelpful. They didn’t seem to care about my complaints. One member simply shrugged his shoulders when I complained about the unclean state of my room. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!
- 696jawaada (2/5): Don’t recommend this hotel at all! Bad experience and customer service terrible. Such a nice area but disgusting hotel. - The worst hotel I have stayed at. They didn’t let me check in early as they needed time to clean but room was still dirty. The heater doesn’t work. The bed/mattress was worn out. Toilet was dirty. I could write a full essay on how bad this hotel was
- Wendy (6/5): - I was not expecting too much because the price was reasonable but was disappointed on the first night of our three night stay. No kettle or coffee making supplies or even cups for water, no hair dryer, tv and remote not working, bathroom was not clean. Next day I insisted on what was promised as advertised and all was working and in place by the time we arrived back in the evening except for things being cleaned thoroughly. It seemed they were open to suggestions but didn't seem to know what they should do to run a hotel. It seemed as though they might have been new at it. They will perhaps improve in the future.
- V5465BUkarens (2/5): Terrible. Avoid at all costs. You have been warned!!! - Terrible. Avoid this hotel. I was asked if I wanted to see the room when I checked in. That raised alarm bells! The first room I was shown, the Tv screen was smashed. The 2nd room the curtains were hanging off the curtain pole and they said they couldn’t fix them. The 3rd room with the crack in the window (sellotaped) was the best of the 3 but still awful. I did not expect loads of mod cons but do expect a general level of cleanliness. The photos advertised (I booked via trivago) does not reflect the rooms (having seen 3 of them). There were no towels, mug, spoon, the sink and shower took a long time to drain. Despite me reporting this, nothing was done. I had to stay there as I knew they would have probably fought to give a refund and didn’t want to start knocking on hotels as a solo traveller trying to find alternative accommodation. Location (2 min walk from Paddington station) is the only positive. Avoid at all costs.
- Ayodele (6/5): - While i wasn't expecting a five star notel, this inn is very dirty and unkept.
The tv advertised in the room is tiny and doesnt work.
There is no battery in the tv remote control, no rubbish bin in the room just to mention a few.
I won't be going to this in again
- Spencer (2/5): WORST HOTEL- DO NOT STAY- revolting. - I work work in central London during the week and stay in a variety of hotels.
I have to say this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
Ground floor room, bedroom wall paper falling off all walls, bedding was itchy toilet was absolutely revolting, looked like a seagull had exploded over the window.
Shower was tiny and you had to walk sideways to squeeze in and then nowhere to hang a towel so had to rest it on the door handle. Totally horrid, thought about checking out and finding somewhere else.
Hotels.com I am angry that you have listed this and thoughts now on your quality.
- Hazel (2/5): COCKROACHS everywhere, even in the bed! - Several dead cockroaches on the floor, pulled back the sheet and one scurried out of the bed. Pulled forward the bed, a live one on the wall and floor behind it. Next to rubbish and a scrunched up dirty pillowcase that had clearly been there for months. Baby coackroaches all over the shower tray, that we’re coming up from the plug hole. Flushed them away, they were back a couple hours later. And in the sink. So much mess on the bathroom mirror couldn’t see in it. Bugs on the floor behind the mirror No pillowcases on the pillows. The stench in the room reflecting its state, which could not have been cleaned in a long time. Couldn’t open the window. I asked to be moved, but told the hotel was full. I asked for a refund and told to go back to hotels.com. I asked hotels.com who told me to wait until they got a refund from the hotel. who offered 25$ compensation (which never arrived). But couldn’t find another hotel for that in London anyway, and so late at night. Will be reporting to the health department. Was awake all night. Do not stay here
- Robert (2/5): - Very dirty.
Claims 2 stars, should be zero.
- Robert (2/5): - Very dirty, claim 2 stars, should be zero.
Show phone and concierge on website, neither are there.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Cockroaches - Vile. My room was a basement double room with en suite bathroom that smelt dreadful and was crawling with small cockroaches.
- Sian (2/5): - The room was dirty, furniture was old and broken, including the bed. The bathroom was smelly and not pleasant. When we got into the room the blind was not on the wall. We asked for a different room and were told that the blind would be fixed. It was but the blind was of no use as the material was so light that you could see the window frame through it even at night. We couldn't wait to get out of there!
- G9703DIchrisp (2/5): Bedbugs and filth. Don't give these people your money. - There was an actual bedbug on my body. This place is filthy and stinks. The first room they put me on looked like a derelict and smelled of chemicals, toilets and mould. The floor was stained and had not been cleaned ever. Someone’s q-tip was still under the ‘dresser’. The curtain hooks were broken and the curtain didn’t cover the window. The door lock was broken and wouldn’t lock. There was a crushed cockroach in the hall outside my room. But most of all, there was that bedbug, crawling on me. When I complained to the staff, he didn’t seem too surprised. He put me in a different upstairs room which was less malodorous and sordid but still awful. You couldn’t get into the bathroom/toilet easily because there was furniture in the way. There was a pile of rags in the hall covered in something disgusting. The place was sauna hot, and while there had been no air conditioner in the first room the one in the second room wasn’t plugged in … and indeed, there was no socket to plug in to. If it hadn’t been past midnight, I would have left. I had just travelled halfway round the world, had been awake nearly 36hours and was exhausted and just wanted to sleep but even in the new, cleaner room, sleeping was not an option because I was checking for bedbugs and roaches. On top of this, I could hear everything the people in the neighbouring rooms were doing. Overpriced? I wouldn’t stay here if someone paid me. This place should just not be open. It’s a health hazard and just steals your money. And has bed bugs.
- Lucy (2/5): - I stayed here for 10 minutes before leaving!
This is has to be the worst hotel I have ever experienced. Do not stay here get the late bus home!
- Sightsee02717090364 (2/5): Very bad hotel. - Drefull hotel tiny room no remote for TV. There was no no toilet in the room. Floor was dirty and not cleaned, bed covers were dirty I hat to ask for a towel for my room and the receptionist hat to check to see if one had being put in as thou I was living to him. Receptionist was all so very unprofessional and extremely rude. Ther were no tea spoons in the room. And hairs in the shower also the shower was very small and cramp all so had no toilet in the room.
- aebromley (2/5): Avoid this slum at all costs - I agree with other reviews. This is not a hotel it is an extortionate squalid slum. We arrived for a concert at Hyde park and found the room was filthy. Dirty sheets, sheets that didn’t fit, one bed with two wheels missing. There had clearly been a fire in the room as the wall around the plug socket had scorch marks, the carpet had not been hoovered, the bathroom was rank and foul smelling. No tea and coffee facilities and the towels were a grey shade of off white. To top it all a male who said he was the owner arrived with a child in a buggy and left her outside on the pavement with us and another 8 guests who had walked out of their rooms, as we did. The child was trying to climb out of her buggy and we had to stop her from falling to the pavement. The hotel have completely refused to refund our money so we had to spend out on an alternative hotel for the night. Do not book this hotel it is revolting and the staff could not have been less rude, disinterested or communicative.
- Ralfs (2/5): - Very poor place
- Z9660NTjamesm (2/5): Avoid this place at all costs - Hotel was absolutely filthy and unfit for accommodation. There were bags of rubbish piled up outside from a neighbouring hotel. Carpets and paintwork were old and dirty throughout. In the room, curtains were hanging off the rails and did not close. Bathroom couldn't be accessed without rearranging the furniture. No tea/coffee making facilities as described only two mugs on a bedside locker in front of the bathroom door. The bedsheets were dirty and contained long hairs. Sheets had not been changed. We decided we could not stay in this room and asked to see another which was as bad. Receptionist was indifferent to our concerns. Decided to cancel there and then and receptionist said he could arrange that but we would be charged for the first night which we strongly disputed but got nowhere at that time. We left and checked in at another local hotel. This hotel would be better described as a squat. It's description on the website bears no resemblance whatsoever to the reality of it's condition. I booked it in good faith based on the website description and location. I realise now that I should have read other reviews online as others have had similar experiences here. You need to avoid this place at all cost. I am currently trying to get my money back.
- nac214 (2/5): Stinky, dirty, cockroaches, glass, mold - The hotel is absolutely disgusting. I was greeted to a dirty stinky room that was cockroach infested and broken glass on the floor.
Hotel staff provide no service, they lie to booking agent to steal money.
Avoid this place at all costs, it is not suitable for dead dogs.
Luckily I found a great hotel round the corner. This place has spoiled my hotel experience. The rooms are only suitable as jail cells. However, I believe you would get better quality at His Majesty's Pleasure!
The owners should be prevented from this business as they are literally stealing people's money with such poor quality.
DO NOT STAY HERE. You have been warned!
- Nathan (2/5): Unsuitable for humans - The hotel was possibly the worst hotel I have stayed at.
There were cockroaches in the room, broken glass in the floor and dirt and mess everywhere.
The hotel staff did not resolve any issue. To cover up the unsanitory conditions the hotel staff even lied to hotels.com service rep suggesting that I did not complain.
I am extremely disappointed with the service. I would not recommend any person stay here and hotels.com should review the relationship with this hotel until they can prove that property is suitable for hotel use.
- Gerard (2/5): - The other reviews were spot on. This hotel is dire.
- Verified traveler (4/5): A disappointing stay with cockroaches - The advertised picture is/was a whole lot nicer than the room we stayed in. Also i feel like the room we eventually got was given to us as a punishment due to our 2 different check in like experiences. I had arranged to drop off luggage earlier than check in time and was assured we could check in at any time late in the evening (attended a concert at hyde park). At luggage drop off the first man was lovely, found our booking, knew we were dropping off luggage and got us to us fill in the white form, ready for check in later. He was really nice. At 1130pm when we actually checked in the 2nd man was quite rude, aggressive and argued we had lost our room key card. After much deliberation and explanation he got me to fill in another white form(which i had said was completed before). He then deliberated and gave us a key for LG2 but then suddenly changed his mind and gave us LG1. It was very late and we were too tired to complain but there were cockroaches, and constant pigeon noises from outside. Every thing could also do with a bit of a general deep clean. It wasnt particularly expensive but our room was nothing like the picture
- Redmolly70 (2/5): Not even a 1 star hotel - Booked 4 rooms at this hotel for a concert at Hyde park as it was a good location. As we arrived there was a lady at reception complaining about how dirty her room was and that the sheets were filthy. The guy on reception asked us would we like to view our rooms which we did. Curtains hanging on by a thread. A foul smell in the bathroom which was filthy. The sheets were stained and there was blood on the pillow I wouldn’t let my dog stay at this place. Another member of our group had a dead cockroach in her room. We decided there was no way any of us would stay there. The guy on reception didn’t see why we were complaining. We were not the only ones who decided to leave. We missed half of our gig as we had to find another hotel and now the booking agency we used are refusing to give us our money back and have offered us 50%. I don’t know how this hotel is allowed to stay open avoid at all costs.
- Daniel (2/5): - The room is not cleaned and well maintained. The size was not on the standard with we paid. The toilet was dirty and the shower room only fits for the small kid. it's was a very poor and disappointed experience.. hopefully this comments help facilitate improvements.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Scratch this one off my list. - The room was not serviced during my stay.
There was a roll of toilet paper propping the window open.
The bathroom door had been kicked open at some point and not repaired—the wood was still splintered and the door didn’t latch.
The bathroom curtain was flimsy and filthy
- DANILO (2/5): - I dont like property, first arrival on room the bed sheet dirty stain, spring roll wrap scattered on bed, need to request another bed sheet..2nd day there is a mouse running around, when i check my chocolate that i buy on duty free, one of chocolate, mouse ate that.very disapointed thats my gift to my friend.the 3rd thing the reception did not help us to get taxi...
- Joanne (2/5): - The property was not all like the photos. I made the mistake of not reading reviews. Vermon ate chocolate i had bought for gifts over night. This must be closed down for health reasons. I woud like my money reimbursed. There is no lift. You have to carry your bags up and down the stairs. I cant believe Exedia are associated wththis accommodation.
- Joel (2/5): - Poor Maintenance,Rat running inside the room, too narrow for the shower, weak pressure for the water, not good for customer services
- Nixpix84 (2/5): Awful - Just had a 1 night stay here and it was 1 night too long. The room was filthy. The shower had orange scum covering it. No tv as advertised, just an old bracket on the wall. No tea or coffee making facilities at all. There was a heater leant up against the radiator and stains on the bed and carpets. The toilet seat kept falling off and could barely fit into the bathroom it’s that small.
We were also woken up with an abrupt knock on the door at 8.30am this morning demanding payment. We checked out and refused to pay full price. Not even worth the half price we paid. Would never stay here again or recommend.
- Jamasp (2/5): - Absolutely dreadful rooms. Terrible property. Will be asking for a refund.
- Irshad (4/5): - No lift
- Patsma250 (4/5): Scruffy, grubby place - far too expensive for the experience - Good location for Paddington Station but only hotel in the square with people sitting on the steps smoking, cigarette butt's littering the pavement and exterior looking down at heel. Reception had dirty seating and I had to pay extra for a room on the ground floor which was accessible for mobility issues despite having asked when booking a couple of months earlier. The room was accessed through hallway with toilet on one side and shower room on the other. Shower had cracked tiling with dirty grouting. Bedroom area had peeling wallpaper and wobbly light fitting . The only thing in its favour was the bedding which was very clean but I definitely wouldn't stay here again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Very Dirty - I expected this hotel to be accommodations in a convenient location that would perhaps be basic but clean. They were not even remotely clean.
There was a stain on the wall from some kind of liquid (photo) that I hope was not biological. The shower and sink had stains or bacteria growing. They badly needed to be bleached. The sink counter was off its hinges so it was difficult to shut the door. If I had not been about to head off on an international flight I would not have even used the shower, it was so unpleasant. I did not photograph the toilet but it had obviously not been cleaned, which is unhygienic.
The building stairway smelled of sewage, which is concerning.
I normally rely on hotels.com to help me avoid cases like this. It was the dirtiest hotel I have stayed in in the past 15 years. If there were any hotel open nearby I would have left.
This hotel did not match the standards of the website and should not be listed here.
- Judy (2/5): Location is the only plus - The bathroom was no bigger than a wardrobe. Very difficult to manoeuvre. The bathroom was also dirty and the tiny basin took forever to drain away the water. Shower was good, with plenty of hot water, but I am a larger lady and it was very difficult to get in and out of the shower as it only had 2 tiny panels on the door. The last place I would want to be trapped.
The bedding was clean but the mattress had a slant on it and it was lumpy. Very old inner spring which was horrendous on my back.
Definitely won’t return as there are many better places for less money.
The location was a real plus as it was very close to the station and lots of places to eat nearby.
It also promotes laundry facilities, but it was out of order. Surprise.
The two staff members I dealt with, were very friendly and helpful.
- James (2/5): Awful - I’ve stayed in many budget hotels around Paddington, I don’t expect 5 star on a budget, but there has to be a line.
* Hotel reception and hallways smell and have attempted to be masked by spray
* dirty windows
* bathroom small with cramped toilet impossible to sit on for anyone taller than 5ft
* crack in glass taped over
* dirty fan
* asked for an extra pillow and told we had 3 already
* tiny, tired bed
* noisy
* good WiFi
* cleanish
* leftover soap dried onto the top of the shower door frame
* 4 gang extension is only power source
* no headboard
* poor decor
* clump of hair fell out of a towel when opened
* rat box in basement garden, complete with rat (at least we saw his tail)
The hotel is generally in poor repair and needs a lot of love, very expensive even for a budget hotel in London
- Jan (10/5): - Ideally suited to arrivals from Paddington, great access to all the sights with underground & bus routes right outside your door. Great variety of good value places to eat on your doorstep and lovely area around the river and park to chill. Rooms were very compact but everything you needed if you are looking for a base to explore London on a budget. Staff were very helpful and amenable providing left luggage facility. Would definitely stay again.
- catherine (6/5): Cheap price...so dont complain if its not 5 star. - Guys at desk were very friendly and helpful. I felt safe there, around corner from the trains, tight next to loads of cafes and 5 mi s to Hyde park. Look what do you expect for 63 sterling a night. Guys said they need to do repairs but they are always booked out. Best do snag list and just do one room at a time. Has potential to be more, they are doing their best.sheets and towels v white and bed was comfy.
- Art (2/5): - Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Broken window in corridor. No toilet in my bathroom (not advertised) Filthy. Smelly.Mattress shocking. This was genuinely the worst room I have ever stayed in.
- Fjch (4/5): - "While the bedding was generally clean, the room itself was messy and in need of a proper cleaning. The most disappointing aspect was that the room description on the website did not match reality, especially concerning the absence of a toilet in the room. Instead, the toilet associated with the room was located in the corridor, requiring me to dress up during the night just to access it. I specifically sought a room with a toilet, so this discrepancy was my biggest disappointment. Additionally, the furniture was very old; I was concerned that the cabinet might fall apart when opening its door. There are much better places to stay for the same amount of money in London."
- Hazel (2/5): - Don’t stay at this hotel if you need to shower or don’t want to get sick from mild infections (see photos - this was the shower at full power). PS. And there were no towels.
- LYNNE (2/5): Needs to be closed by London Council - Hotel smells as you enter. The room was dreadful. Curtains hanging off window. Electrical wires dangling off a 4 way extention lead. Window panes cracked and sellotape over crack. Toilet badly stained. No headboard on bed so pillows could fall down into the alcove behind bed.
- Ahmed (2/5): Terrible stay - I have to change my room three times . All is full of mould, caused me breathing difficulties, no hot water for two days , very noisy and uncomfortable beds
- Eamon (2/5): COCKROACHES!! - COCKROACHES!!! AVOID!!
As soon as I got to my room 2 cockroaches ran across the floor. I had to go and find another hotel as they didn’t have anymore rooms. They refused to give me a refund.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid at all costs - I've stayed at a number of these budget hotels around Paddington, and you get what you pay for, but this was shocking.
Room1
The toilet hadn't been cleaned or flushed (I took this photo after flushing it). Hole in the wall, no TV, no soap or toiletries. Generally grubby, dirty, dark and miserable.
Asked for a different room and got:
Room 2
Dirty bed sheets as photographed. There was a TV (but it didn't work). And there wasn't a toilet, which I wasn't told about. The window was open when I got there (2 degrees outside perhaps?) then it rattled in the wind when I closed it.
By this point, after a long day of travelling, and first hauling my suitcase down into the basement, and then up to the 3rd or 4th floor I cut my losses and managed a few short hours kip. Pick one of the other ones, you'll thank me.
- Laura (4/5): - The room was old and extremely small. The stairs were thighs and it was an adventure to climb up with our bags.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Cheap but not cheerful! - Positives - the pillows were comfortable. Thats it!
Negatives - I get that this was cheap but still... the mattress was horrific, the room was cold, the carpet was dirty and worst of all I had to hold my nose and breath through my mouth when using the bathroom to prevent myself from being sick from the smell of stagnant water stuck in the drains
- Melanie (2/5): - The ‘hotel’ is in a terrible condition and is very, very dirty! There are smashed windows on the landing, the light didn’t work in my room, the sink was completely blocked and the curtains were hanging off.
Awful experience!
- Margaret (10/5): - Good area
- David (2/5): At least the heating worked! - We knew beforehand that the rooms were very small, however not being able to open the bathroom door due to room size and furniture is rediculous. The curtain only covered half the window and physically could not be drawn fully across, not very private on a busy road. As for the bed, whilst clean, the mattress was well past it’s usable life and was lifeless on one side to the extent I nearly rolled out of bed. The bathroom was tiny having been built into one corner of the room. The toilet itself did not look secure and safe to sit on! The only plus points were that the staff were polite and the heating worked (although excessively)
- Daniel (10/5): - Very dirty and dusty room, terrible shower. Bed seemed ok at best. Was a cheap option so cant really expect too much.
- Kimberley (6/5): Basics all there, nothing more. - Room was clean and all I needed. Access was ok for me, but it was up a significant amount of stairs, which were very narrow.
In the London heat at the time, the room
Heated up very quickly even with window open. Would have been helpful to have a fan, though no where to stand it.
Through the night what sounded like a generator kept starting loudly and being noisy for periods of time. This was quite disturbing.
- David (4/5): - Hotel wanted to take a photocopy of my ID which is not a legal requirement when the guest is a UK citizen as they are only required to keep a record of guests and satisfy themselves they are who they say they are. Showing my passport and drivers licence is more than enough proof of id especially when combined with a card payment in the same name. We had a fairly heated discussion and eventually I wrote my licence number on their registration form but still feel uncomfortable with them having even that information. The TV didn't work and the ensuite bathroom smelt damp and I ended up just sleeping a minimal amount and left at 6.30 am without using the shower as I just wanted to get out of the place.
- Jia-Jing (4/5): Basin malfunction - No hair-dryer. The basin is not working.
- Natalie (4/5): - Wasn’t great at all - paid £70 for a Saturday night so wasn’t expecting a lot but it somehow still managed to disappoint. Asked for £20 if we weren’t able to return the card key - not typical practice
- Carlton (2/5): - Hotel was not what I thought. Did not stay night, booked another hotel. The room given was in basement, mouse box in room! Bed mattress was so soft and felt very well used. I would not recommend unless your homeless. Only positive location.
- Emma (2/5): Stay away - Hair found on the bed, carpet was disgusting, toilet was all brown with no brush to clean it, windows were so soiled
Would not pay even 10 £ for that room again but because of the Bst festival everything was fully booked
- Brittney (6/5): - They property is VERY conveniently located near Paddington Station. Was easy to go to and from where I needed to via the train station which took about a 5 min walk. The structure itself is a bit outdated (as I expected). Bathroom was clean and hot water was plentiful. Bed/linings were clean. Clean towels. The bathroom was a bit tight. I’m 5’2 and my elbows were hitting either side of the stand up shower. However, can’t complain, it served its purpose for my needs. My only complaint is that the area is loud as there is generally a lot going on and there is a pub at the corner. I heard people ALL night from outside. Almost wish I had some earplugs. No central AC, but was a cool evening. Wasn’t an issue for me. check in/out was quick. If you need to check in early, I would call ahead to check on availability. They did accommodate holding on to my bags until I was a able to check in.
- Ian (2/5): - avoid at all costs
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty and unprofessional - On arrival we checked in and went to our room, the door was already unlocked and dirty towels over the floor, flies everywhere and dirty bedding and rubbish left in room, clearly had not been cleaned. Informed reception and they replied” wait two minutes and it will be cleaned” I told the receptionist it would take longer than 2mins to clean and asked for another room. Again this was not the cleanest but did have a bed made up. Windows had tape on glass as smashed and walls need paint as dirt and marks throughout, mould in bathroom and stunk of drainage. Also staff not helpful and rude - had no hun in hotel to leave rubbish so left an empty can on the table in the receptionist area due to no hun and the man behind desk said that’s not a bin and I said well where is the bin as there’s non in the room or in here, he said bins are outside being really rude and cocky.
- Rabia (4/5): - A terrible place to stay, extremely dirty, broken furniture and absolutely horrible mattress. I asked for a fan since it was 27 degrees to be told that they have no fans. I was given a room in the basement with a window thst opened in a little well with a shed. In order to cool the room, when i decided to open the window, I was shocked and terrified to see coakroches all over the place. This place should be shut down.
- andries (4/5): UNSATISFACTORY STAY - Window broken, could not close. Room not cleaned rubbish on floor from prior guests. Tap loose. Rubbish bins never emptied during my 3 day visit.
- Marisha (2/5): Awful stay - The staff was very unfriendly and not welcoming at all. Our room had a terrible smell of musty old damp carpets. The room itself was not clean, windows full of bird droppings and the extension lead filthy. But he shower was ok but also dirty with hairs. The toilet had no toilet brush and the seat was broken. No toilet paper on arrival we had to ask for toilet paper. We where woken up at 05:00 by the pigeons in the courtyard. Clearly no effort made to deter them from the area. The room was boiling hot and was located down a very narrow staircase. There was rubbish and stuff left everywhere in the corridors. Worst hotel my friend and I have ever stayed in, and for £340 I would expect at least a clean room.
- Asel (2/5): Want a terrible place to stay - this is the one. - When I arrived, there was no curtain on the window. I asked the reception, he said that they will install the curtain tomorrow morning. Since I was suppose to stay only one night, this was not an option. He suggested that I should sleep without a curtain - i cannot change, sunrise is at 4:30 at the moment, so i was suppose to sleep without it.
- Omid (2/5): - The only positive thing about this property was its proximity to the Paddington Station. The service was non-existent.
- Harish (6/5): Norfolk inn - Convenient hotel near to Paddington station and walkable to my place of work. I was out all day and night so can’t really judge it. But a tired hotel in need of a makeover.
- W (6/5): Some surprises - Room size was good with decent bed. General cleanliness not so strong. No towels was a strange policy when you have an en-suite but no floor towels!
- Nelly (6/5): - Staff very nice
- Verified traveler (4/5): Worst London hotel stayed in - Had to move room as toilet not working in original room. 2nd room filthy, had to stand on towels in the bathroom as floor looked like it had never been cleaned, same as carpeted area in main room. Bed side lamps on opposite wall had wire to operate as damaged and hanging off wall. Dangerous
- Caitlin (6/5): - Was ok but no toilet was in the room
- Vimbai (2/5): Avoid avoid avoid ! - Room was not cleaned or mopped or anything. Floor was sticky and muddy. Bathroom stained. Strong foul smell, curtains falling from rails and just so disgusting overall
- Zivanayi (8/5): - Read the reviews. I liked the service from the staff. There are no lifts. Two nights and no complaints. I got what I expected and it was actually better than my expectations. Would recommend it.
- Wynni (2/5): - was told we will have a bathroom with toilet and shower inside the room but instead when we got there the toilet was separate in the hallway with other rooms, in the morning the radiator turned on and was spitting out boiling water next to the bed, very unsafe not happy at all
