Guest Reviews
- Olga (7/5): - The view is beautiful.
The price-quality ratio is perfect. The hotel manager, a man, did not help carry the suitcase down the stairs.
Instead, he sent his assistant, an elderly woman, saying that it was her job.
- R&J (8/5): - Maria Pyramid House is very basic but the terrace view of the pyramids was outstanding. Probably best you can get at this price. Hardy working family business. Office is upstairs and it took a minute to find it. Room was adequate for us with strong air conditioner. Office location not clear.
- anton (10/5): Super service - We had a wonderful four-night stay at this hotel and couldn’t recommend it more.
The rooms were spotless and the service was outstanding from start to finish. The team went above and beyond to help with anything we needed, sorting out every little issue that came up during our trip without any fuss. They also arranged our airport transfers both ways, which made everything so much easier.
Breakfast deserves a special mention. It’s served on the rooftop with a stunning view of the pyramids, which makes every morning feel special. The food was genuinely delicious, and on one morning when we slept in and missed the regular service, the staff still made sure we got fed. Small thing, but it meant a lot.
Honestly, the whole team made us feel looked after the entire time. Huge thanks to everyone, we left very happy and would absolutely come back.
- Katia (6/5): - Chambre confortable.
- Vadim (4/5): -
- Janie (10/5): Enjoyable & comfortable. As a single female traveler I felt looked after & safe - Excellent location, friendly & helpful staff. Airport pick up was spot on, with a friendly & safe driver

- Nicola (10/5): Fabulous family hotel - A lovely little 5 bedroom hotel with the most amazing view of the Pyramids. Fabulous breakfast on the roof terrace and Mohamed and his family are the nicest, friendliest and most helpful.people. Everything was perfect
- Audrey (10/5): Super ! - Personnel disponible et aux petits soins
- Kevin (10/5): Awesome Property, Awesome Host - Believe everything you've read; this place is awesome and couldn't be closer to the Giza pyramids if that's where you're going. Ditto, a 10 minute walk to the new Grand Egyptian Museum, so no taxi needed if you go straight up the street. Here are somethings others haven't shared that make them MORE awesome: There's an ATM literally across the street. They have chips, candy and several types of soda pop in the front room. The rooftop deck is across the street from the pyramids. Yes, across the street.
To echo others, just try to keep your hosts from helping you. Good luck!! They even got up at 3.30am to help me meet my taxi to the airport, which they arranged for me at a reasonable cash fee. Anyway, I spent two nights here in literally perfect comfort with the friendliest of hosts. Book them yourself to enjoy the same.

- Michele (10/5): Fantastic Experience! Highly recommend Maria's Pyramid House!! - Maria's Pyramid House is a wonderful small, family hotel that is perfectly located near the Giza Pyramids. The views of the pyramids from our rooms and the rooftop dining area are absolutely breathtaking. The best part of the hotel was the staff. Mr. Mohamed and his team are incredibly caring, responsive and efficient. Mr. Mohamed was so helpful, courteous and extremely professional. He helped us to set up our trip and planned 4 days of excursions with a wonderful private guide and a great driver. We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. I highly recommend it!!!
- Hanzel (10/5): Superb location, great staff - The hospitality from Mohammed 1 and Mohammed 2 and all the staff overall was great, great location and they make you feel at home Nothing, all was great
- Heike (9/5): Super freundlich sauber sicher Pyramiden Blick - Freundlichkeit des Eigentümers

- Kutlwano (8/5): Have a variety when it comes to breakfast. Cater for international visitors, not just Egyptians. All in all, everything -
- Frances (9/5): - Super freundliches Personal
- Heike (9/5): Wonderful stay - great traditional Egyptian breakfast (no stomach problems) with a view to Giza pyramids - can one top that? Lovely family owned small hotel, inside all modern, very welcoming owners. noise of the traffic, but at least no noise from neighbours.
- Mattia (10/5): Come in famiglia!

- Mark (10/5): Wonderful - Mohamed and all the family were so welcoming and helpful. Mohamed was very helpful organising tours for us and helping get us, from the airport, to and from the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and to the train station. It was no problem even to change the pick up time from the GEM as we enjoyed it so much we stayed until closing. The tours to the Pyramids and Old Cairo were very good. The hotel breakfast was very tasty especially the flat bread, falafel and bean dish - all with a wonderful view of the Pyramids from the rooftop. The hotel was very well located to the GEM and Pyramids. We were able to relax on the rooftop after check-out on our last day. Thank you!
- Anita (7/5): Sehr freundliches Personal.

- yasser (8/5): Dont expect luxury but its good enough - Location hospitality, good breakfast & a mazing roof view Its not hotel to be honest, No elevator and room view
- Gulliver (9/5): -
- Hikaru (8/5): -
- Karin (9/5): - Wonderful staff: friendly and helpful!
Shukran !
- Josie (7/5): - Excellent view of the Pyramids from the rooftop. Close to the new museum and pyramids. 30 mins from Cairo downtown. Beds were comfortable. Didn't see many restaurants nearby but also didn't explore far from our accommodation. The bathroom was quite small and the shower drain did not work so we often had to have quick showers so the bathroom wouldn't flood. The toilet was also leaking.
- Giovanna (10/5): Consigliato!
- patricia (10/5): - Everything was great. The hotel is fantastic, with wonderful views both from the rooftop and the room. Mohammed and his team help you with everything you need. I hope to come back
- Jennifer (10/5): White glove service, exceptional views, & genuine hospitality! - Muhammad went above and beyond to make my stay seamless and memorable, especially when unexpected circumstances prevented me from booking anything in advance. Despite my arrival at 2 AM, he was quick to respond via WhatsApp, guiding me directly to the taxi he had arranged and staying up late into the night to help organize sightseeing tours for the very next day. His hospitality was heartfelt, and his warm smile never wavered. The rooftop terrace offered a breathtaking, one-of-a-kind view of the pyramids—an experience I’ll never forget. The room itself was spacious, well-equipped with air conditioning, a refrigerator, and a kettle, all at an incredibly reasonable price. If you’re planning to visit the pyramids while in Cairo, staying here is an absolute must!

- Daniel (9/5): -
- ToonT (10/5): - Best view for breakfast ever. Very friendly owner /
- Macy (10/5): The stay was amazing! Mohammed and the other ladies working at the hotel were so kind and attentive. I would definitely - The location is perfect! Nothing
- Luca (10/5): Ci siamo sentiti coccolati sin da subito. Personale gentilissimo e molto premuroso!!! - Vista spettacolare.Personale molto gentile e disponibile Tutto perfetto!!
- Victoria (10/5): Stay here for a very easy and wonderful time right on the steps of the majestic pyramids! - Everything, the moment you step inside you feel at home, wonderful, kind and thoughtful staff ready to help with anything. Can’t think of anything
- Justine (7/5): Great for a night with a view of the Pyramids. - An exceptional view of the pyramids from the rooftop and balcony. Comfortable and spacious room. Very generous Egyptian breakfast. Friendly family run feel. Everyone was super helpful. It’s on a very busy road and pretty noisy! The entrance into pyramids complex has moved and now a few kms away- it was hard to get to from the hotel as taxi drivers don’t know where to go! We’d booked here as I thought we could walk across the road but that’s changed now. Of course not the fault of the hotel - but good to know!
Piscina no la he visto.
- Giorgio (9/5): - Struttura nuova, personale cordiale . Colazione abbondante in terrazza con vista piramidi
- Nemeth (9/5): - Very helpful owner and staff, nice tours to the pyramids and GEM.
- Lucy (10/5): - The rooms were spotlessly clean with great facilities. I think it is family run and you can tell they go to great lengths to try and make the rooms as nice as possible. There are great views of 2 of the pyramids form the balcony and the roof terrace and from one of our rooms. really enjoyed our stay here There were stairs leading up to the hotel and no lift but the hosts helped us with our bags and would have been happy to carry all of them I'm sure
- Stuart (9/5): - The staff are unbelievably helpful. Nothing is too much trouble from borrowing an adapter plug to being physically walked to our dinner reservation so that we didn't get lost! The views of the pyramids are second to none. The water is hot and plentiful, the bed big and very comfortable. An excellent stay and excellent value for money!
- Peter (9/5): - Tolle Lage. Frühstück mit Pyramidenblick. Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Sehr gute Ausstattung.
- Woody (9/5): Superb - I loved the place. Mohammad the owner is working hard to elevate this place and I have faith this will be the to go to place after a while. You get scared once you arrive Infront of the hotel bldg but as soon as you go to the second floor, it is a different world.
- Adam (10/5): Fantastic experience, would go back again! - The location was amazing with a perfect view of the Pyramids especially on the balcony at the top floor. Breakfast was delicious and the hotel was very clean. The hosts were were very helpful and enjoyed talking to them. Next time I come back to Egypt I would stay here again.
- Kd (6/5): Not too bad but note the above suggestions. Be more clear about extras. - The owner was veryfriendly, helpful and welcoming. He gave us some safety tips as well. Wifi is excellent. The view of the pyramids is beautiful. Shower head not working well. Towels can be upgraded a bit old and off white. I had a shock entering the building. It was dirty and very unattractive. Maybe do something about the appearance and face of the business. Improve on the breakfast. Exactly the same food everyday??? They expected me to pay extra 20usd per day for the room with the view of the pyramids, which I think is unfair. There were no other guests booked for that time so why not just give me that room? Plus there was no such option wnen I made the booking online.
- Elfi (10/5): Your home in Cairo for any purpose - Traveling to Egypt? Search no more: this is the very best place to be! Perfectly located besides the Grand Pyramids without bursting your wallet, you will be perfectly positioned to head on every Cairo tour. The room was spacious, had the most magnificent view, and the breakfast is amazing. But the most extraordinary in this stay is just Mohamed who makes you feel like home every single minute and helps you with any question you might have. Also a great place for hanging out at the terrace while doing some work. Definitely returning and bringing the rest of my family! Absolutely nothing, the stay was spot-on.
- Ania (9/5): Great find right in front of the pyramids! - The room and bathroom were clean with air conditioning. The breakfast was ample and the views from the rooftop were amazing. The staff running the very small hotel were fabulous and always available. There is no elevator but the staff helped us to carry the bags up and down. That's it - everything else was great!
- Camilla (10/5): A true Egyptian gem with stunning views and wonderful hospitality. - Before our stay, Mohamed was very good at communicating, our flight arrived in the early hours and he helped to organise a transfer.
When we arrived - even though it was about 3/4 am he greeted us with welcome drinks and was very helpful and understanding. He just checked us in and showed us the breathtaking views from our room, then the rooftop.
During our stay Mohamed and his team could not do enough to help. He offered to sort out tours and guides, helped to get us taxis gave us insider tips to help us visit the things we wanted. Just a genuinely lovely chap.
The breakfast also gets a special mention. It is served on the stunning roof top, with direct views of the Pyramids. But it is also huge and delicious... Think bread basket, cheese plate and several yummy Egyptian dishes with coffee or tea.
The room was clean, bright and stylishly decorated with an incredible view. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was also very nicely fitted out.
I can't recommend Maria's guesthouse highly enough if you are staying in Giza. Our only issue was not with the guesthouse. It was a but tricky to use Uber because the drivers either cancelled or would not pick up without cash tip. BUT don't let that put you off, the white taxis can be hailed and once you've negotiated a price you are good to go. Also Mohammed and his team were super helpful with this.
- Paul (9/5): Very nice family hotel -
- Corey (10/5): Relaxing and clean, a stones throw from the pyramids. - We searched a long time for a place in Giza that had pyramids views and was both safe and clean and this is the place. It is not the cheapest option but being looked after (and the pool) make it well worth it.
The owner and staff were lovely. The owner only asked once if we needed any tours and didn't press. He was really helpful with advice for transport options and the recent changes to the Giza pyramid gates. I felt comfortable asking him about anything.
This is a small owner operated guest house, it only has 5 rooms I think. There is a small balcony seating area and a rooftop dining area with some cover. both are very nice, nicer than the pictures suggest.
The rooms are relatively quiet with thick windows.
The pool is in the hotel across the street and is really nice. The staff there were welcoming. They literally said they want us to feel at home and gave us hotel towels. There is also a change room and toilet next to the pool and a bartender making mocktails. The pool was included in the price, you just ask the front desk for a token and give it to reception at the other hotel.
There is a little shop down the street which sells drinks, snacks, and ice creams.
Most rooms can see the pyramids and from the upstairs dining area the view is amazing.
It's walking distance from the Mena house Marriot and you can go there and get very nice massages.
The owner gets in contact by whatsapp before you come and is there waiting to greet you with welcome drinks.
The photos attached are the view from the roof and the balcony.
- Joyce (10/5): - I had a wonderful experience at this lovely hotel
- Jane (10/5): A great place to stay, with very nice friendly staff - The staff were so very kind and helpful, thankyou
- Susie (9/5): Superb - Mr Mohammad and family/staff were very welcoming and generous. We had a view of the pyramids from our room and at breakfast upstairs you could not be any closer!! Amazing
Thankyou for all your help with day trips, advice etc Nothing really except we did not realise the pool is in the hotel opposite and indoor, but not really a problem
- Mark (10/5): Memorable stay in the shadow of the Great Pyramid - The location and view are super, literally across the street from the Pyramids. Mohamed has converted the top two floors of his family's house into a neat hotel and has plans for the rest of the building. He is working hard, has good staff, a professional attitude and the knowledge of a guy who spent his whole life in the shadow of the Pyramids. The hotel is simple, comfortable, clean and tidy. The WiFi works, the breakfast was tasty (although way too big for me), the shower was good. I stay in hotels all the time of various standards and can happily recommend Maria Pyramids House to anyone. Mohamed had good tips for restaurants close by, organised my airport transfer and best of all didn't try to push me when I opted out of a guided tour. We had a couple of long chats about Egyptian affairs instead. Thanks mate, much appreciated. It is really fine. The road is a bit noisy at night but what do you expect with that location.
- Rodney (9/5): Terrific location - Location and viviewaaf pyramids were fantastic, friendly, and helpful staff, and they provided a terrific breakfast.
Highly recommend staying here
- Clinton (9/5): Superb - Really enjoyed the room and staff. Definitely recommended. Indeed the place is not really "next" to much, but overall we just caught Ubers to get around.
- Glenn (10/5): Safe, clean, and amazing views of the pyramids! Would 10/10 recommend. - Best view of the pyramids from any hotel. Pictures online are accurate with their close proximity. Breakfast was served on the rooftop which was beautiful and safe to eat. We got room 302 which had an exceptional view as well.
Staff was very kind and willing to help with other food recommendations, taxis, etc. They accept credit card or cash. Also has free hotel wifi.
Location was great and three floors high which helps drown out the busy Giza traffic. In room self controlled air conditioning, full separate bathroom, mini fridge, hot pitcher for tea or coffee, clean bedding and towels, secure location, mine safe in roof, closet with hangers, and bottled water in the room.
In summary I have no regrets staying at Maria’s and would stay there again. Great value and even better location to see the pyramids. Hotel is located up 3 flights of stairs, so if unable to walk, this could be a problem. (Not wheelchair friendly). It does have a handrail and plenty of lights.
- Francis (10/5): A home away from home under the Pyramids of Giza. - Mohammed and all the crew were simply outstanding. There was nothing they would not do to help you enjoy the wonderful sights of Giza. Had to leave.
- Stef (7/5): Great view, bad night sleep - The hotel is actually the 3th floor of a regular apartment building which is reached by stairs only. From the terrace you have one of the best views of the Pyramids you can get. The owner and personnel are extremely friendly and helpful. We had the junior suite which is a very nice room. In retrospect we paid too much though, about 115 US$ per night. Later on we saw the price was much lower. To earn 5 stars there are some annoying or irritating things to eliminate if possible. The most annoying thing is the noise from the traffic and the construction work for the metro. Since the junior suite was the room that is most effected by this, we had a very hard time to get a good night sleep even when using earplugs every night. The construction work for the metro will eventually be finished but the traffic noise will always be a problem.
Another problem for us were the beds. The beds were too hard for our liking. This problem is solvable though. There were 2 other small irritating problems that could easily be fixed. The shower head is leaking at the side and should be replaced. We stayed 4 nights and there was no cleaning at all during our stay. With better maintenance inside and outside, this would be a great place to stay.
- Cynthia (10/5): Maria Pyramids House offers an incredible view and comfortable stay without breaking the bank - The daily breakfast was served on the rooftop terrace with a terrific view of the pyramids. The entire team went above and beyond to make my birthday extra special! Haitham and the rest of the staff were top notch! I have no complaints.
- Janie (10/5): The warmth & support of a family home, with the privacy and facilities of a larger hotel. - Fabulous homely little (boutique) hotel, with all the facilities you could want.
Breakfast was plentiful, tasty and delicious; served up by a really wonderful, attentive lady.
The host is absolutely amazing, couldn’t be more helpful, thoughtful & considerate. I felt extremely safe and cared for. He arranged outings and transport for me, and ensured I could not come to any harm.
I felt like I was with family, and not traveling alone.
I will most certainly stay again if/when in Cairo - so good. Perfect Accomodation.
Right by the entrance of the pyramids, & a couple of hundred meters from the new museum.
Such a great position for seeing the sights. My view was a pyramid, that I felt I could almost touch. Construction work was a bit of a
Pain - but that is happening in lots of places. The comfortable bed made it not a problem.
- Lindelwa. (8/5): We had a great time, thanks for having us - The views and staff were amazing, and it was good value for money We could only drink alcohol in our room, and there was no pressure or hot water in the shower
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonie (9/5): Incredible view & customer service! - Mohamed, the owner was incredibly helpful & responsive from start to finish - being in communication before we arrived, helping us organize several excellent (& good value) tours and giving us great advice, kindness & service all the way through. The view from the terrace has to be one of the best in the world! And the breakfast was absolutely delicious. There is currently no pool but there is one at a neighbouring hotel that can be used.
- Babak (6/5): - Good view, helpful front desk
- Jess (10/5): Great accommodation on a budget - The rooftop view The pool is across the street
- Craig (7/5): Great view of the pyramids - Great view of the pyramids at breakfast on the roof (and from the window of the room).
Let down by the lack of hot water in the shower - we stayed twice (with a Nile Cruise in between) - on the first occasion the hot water did not work in our room, and on the second occasion, the hot water did not work in our son’s room.
- Anna (8/5): Very good - Good location, clean and comfortable room, friendly helpful staff, amazing view, nice big breakfast.
Things to note: it can be loud at night on the weekend-would recommend ear plugs. There is no pool as advertised which was a bummer. The laundry cost was excessive in our opinion ($15US for a load of washing).
- Michael (6/5): Ok but no swimming pool - Brilliant location for the Pyramids and the view from the terrace is exceptional.
That said, the property description is badly wrong. There is NO swimming pool. One is available in a hotel nearby for a payment of $10 per person. It's an indoor pool which was ok but not worth the money.
Staff friendly. Limited food & beverage. TV didn't work in the room.
Ok as a whole, but lack of swimming pool to chill out by after doing various visits was disappointing.
Please correct the description as it is very misleading.
- Erika (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (9/5): Superb - The quality of the hospitality was outstanding. The staff were always ready to help and advise. They clearly put the guest first. The breakfast was delicious - a varied choice and generously served. The room met most expectations, with comfortable beds, excellent air conditioning and lighting, strong WiFi, a refrigerator and an electric kettle.
I loved the roof terrace with its stunning view of the two largest pyramids.
In sum, a memorable experience. For the first two days, there was no hot water in the room. This was caused by the individual water heater needing to be replaced. During this time, the owner let me use the bathroom in another room. This arrangement worked adequately enough, but it would have been better still for me to be transferred to another room, even if it meant giving me a free upgrade.
