- Uwe (10/5): Ein kleines Juwel - Großes Gelände in herrliche Lage, nah am Zentrum und trotzdem ruhig und im Grünen. Eigener kleiner Trail mit einigen Tieren und sehr schönen Schaukeln nicht nur für Kinder. Zimmer 10,11, 14 und 15 sind sehr geräumig. Ausstattung einfach aber gut. Das Personal ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit. Kaffee und ein bisschen Kuchen ist auch im Preis enthalten. Frühstück ist nicht üppig, aber in Ordnung.

- Jonathan (10/5): Serene, peaceful lodge great for all types of travelers - The breakfast was a quick, easy way to start the day. There were four different choices and always came with fresh fruit. The kids loved the pancakes and my wife and I were big fans of the bottomless coffee and tea. The only thing that could have been better is if we stayed here longer! We only stayed for two nights and would have enjoyed a day to hang out at the lodge since it is so peaceful there.
- Lisa Elise (5/5): Let op welke kamer je boekt, en weet dat het gehorig is! - Het terras aan de ontbijtzaal is met uitzicht. Dat is heel mooi. Het ontbijt is oke. Economy tweepersoonskamer. Deze kamers liggen in een soort kelder (donker en vochtig) van het 2e gebouw. Je hebt nergens uitzicht op. Bij aankomst in onze kamer (nr 12) merkte we gelijk dat voor de deur een vreselijke lucht hing van een dood dier. Dit direct gemeld bij Eva van de receptie. Er is iemand gaan kijken, maar kon niets vinden. Er werd bevestigd dat het er inderdaad stonk. We konden in de kamer dus geen raam of deur open doen en ook geen gebruik maken van de twee stoelen buiten. Volgende dag werd er ook geen oplossing gezocht, alleen bevestigd dat ook kamer 14 last van de geur had. Wederom werd er ook deze dag geen oplossing geboden. De laatste dag bij ontbijt kwam Eva zeggen dat er een dood stekelvarken was gevonden bij kamer 11. We snappen dat dat kan gebeuren in een jungle, maar dat er geen enkele oplossing voor de stank werd geboden vinden wij niet kunnen! De parkeerplaatsen zijn minimaal bij de appartementen. Laatste dag bij ontbijt wilden we graag buiten ontbijten en vroegen of er een lege tafel afgeruimd kon worden. Met veel tegenzin werd het gedaan. Jammer! Daarnaast zijn de kamers enorm gehorig. In de nacht hoorden we het gesnurk van de buurman en de dag erna hadden we buren met 2 kinderen, we konden letterlijk verstaan wat ze zeiden. We zouden niet nogmaals hier terug komen.

- Catalina (4/5): Altas expectavias que golpean con la realidad, no recomiendo - La ubicación muy conveniente la Habitación demasiado pequeña para el precio, tiene segundo piso y no tiene aislante de ruido, por lo que se escucha mucho cuando caminan o hacen cualquier cosa en las otras habitaciones, olor a baño terrible en toda la habitación, tuvimos que poner el abanico para poder dormir, deberían tratar las tuberias. Las camas con un colchón super deficiente.

- GundegaN (10/5): Great stay close to the jungle - Super nice location - away from the main roads, finally could really sleep great. We had a room on an upper floor and it was amazing sleeping with full jungle view and waking up with the morning sun. Also the balcony was cozy to sit on. The small jungle train was nice addition. Breakfast was great - offering 4 different options and as much juice and hot drinks as wished. You can hear the noises from the hallway, but that was not very bothering.

Nice short trail on site with sightings of birds and agoutis. Well-maintained grounds. Noon checkout. If you want to be within walking distance of the town of Santa Elena, I would not choose this location. It is walkable (about 30 minutes), but the return trip is uphill.

- Jean-Michel (9/5): Très bon établissement pour visiter la région de Monteverde - L'hôtel est situé dans la végétation, tout près du patelin où on trouve à peu près de tout. Accueil très aimable. Hôtel très calme. Nous avions une chambre très spacieuse (2 chambres communicantes en fait), Très grand lit. Table et 2 chaises, grand fauteuil cossu avec repose pieds. Cafetière avec du café. Un grand balcon avec fauteuils. Grande salle de bains. Le tout très propre. On trouve 2 bons restaurants à 5 mn à pied de l'hôtel (De Lucia, Thomas&Thiago). Le petit déjeuner, très bon, pourrait être un peu plus copieux.

Très peu d'espace autour du lit, literie peu confortable (sommier fait de planches de bois), pas d'insonorisation alors que nous avions des voisins bruyants dès 5 heures du matin, aucune vue. Évitez la chambre 3 (chambre Standard*) à tout prix. Tout ça pour 150€ la nuit : mauvais rapport qualité prix. * Je n'ose pas imaginer ce que la chambre dite "économique" réserve comme surprises

Der in der Anlage angelegte Trail durch den Wald, bietet zu jeder Tag und Nachtzeit tolle Eindrücke. Suite im Obergeschoss ist zu bevorzugen wegen der besseren Aussicht.

Very helpful staff who organised transport to the park and gave us details of a local company delivering food . There is a lovely trail within the property and it is walking distance from a gorgeous reserve where you can walk and then enjoy a drink on their terrace. Very special place. Nothing

Klein, kein Tisch, kein Schrank, die Handtücher waren Lumpen. Aber überall Schilder (mach das Licht aus, spare Wasser, save the planet ...(fly to costa rica).

- Erwin (9/5): Wunderschöner Rückzugsort in der Natur - Die Cala lodge ist ein wunderschöner Ort für alle, die Ruhe, Natur und authentische Erfahrungen bevorzugen. Viel Holz, stilvoll eingerichtet, traumhafter Blick von der Terrasse, Tierbeobachtung beim köstlichen Frühstück, freundliche, zuvorkommende, aber nicht aufdringliche Mitarbeiter. Wir haben uns einfach wohl gefühlt! -
- Angelo (9/5): Tranquil Stay in Monteverde - Very pretty property, hidden away in the forest. The little trail they have is also a huge plus. Breakfast was really good with an amazing view of the forest. They also offer coffee and banana bread between 3-5pm which you can enjoy while the sun sets, birdwatching. Room was well equipped and bed was comfortable. Staff very friendly. No place to hang stuff in the room and no proper ventilation in the bathroom.

La petite cuisine est très utile et la literie de bonne qualité. L’accueil était vraiment agréable Le service de linge est vraiment cher (25$).

- Eduardo (10/5): - Estuvimos el año pasado y este hemos repetido. El acogimiento, las vistas, las habitaciones, todo todo tiene un cuido que hace que volver sea toda una experiencia. Mejor sitio en monteverde sin duda.

- Ariel (8/5): Nice, but probably wouldn’t stay again - It’s quiet (heard only wind howling at night) and set into a little forest. There’s a birdwatching deck, although it was raining and I didn’t see any birds. The woman at reception was very friendly. The price (I paid 89 USD for an economy room) was crazy for what you get. The room was tiny and had no space for unpacking. I didn’t try the breakfast because at 6:30am that’s unfortunately quite late for those of us who go out birding at dawn!

We stayed at a Junior Suite with Balcony room and it was great to sit there and listen to all the birds in the evening. Friendly staff as well. They have a short trail on premise as well. We only stayed one night but could have easily stayed another night if we didn’t have to fly out the following day. We missed breakfast so not sure how that was. Plenty of parking on premise too. The only negative is that you do get to hear the moto bikes zipping up and down the main road from the balcony at times. Shortened breakfast hours. Motorbikes noises from main road.

- Ann (10/5): Excellent! - We stayed in the Jr Suite with balcony in a beautiful, clean room, with comfortable beds king and queen or maybe it was a double bed. In our bathroom was a bathtub! There was a writing desk, little fridge, coffee pot with coffee & sugar, plus ice available upon request. The little balcony attached to our room, and a wide communal porch below with couches, tables, and chairs provided a great view as did a large circular cast iron deck floating out over the canopy. We made our cocktails there and watched the sun go down over the scenic mountains. Inside is a small bar and seating for the made to order delicious complimentary breakfast.The host was extremely pleasant and professional and went the extra mile to ensure our comfort. We will definitely be coming back! There was nothing not to like! Beautiful view, quiet location, comfortable room, excellent host, and delicious breakfast. Onsite parking.

- Doris (8/5): Lovely lodge in beautiful rainforest setting - The location in the rain forest. The staff was very friendly and I felt comfortable and welcomed and received good information about the surroundings. Really enjoyed the rainforest walk around the lodge. I had booked a budget room, which was kind of a motel style accommodation. The mattress of my bed was quite soft, a bit like a hammock, not so good for a pleasant sleep and for my back.

- D (10/5): I would like to thank the staff at Cala Lodge for making our first trip to Costa Rica memorable. - The Villa we stayed in was amazing. Two large bedrooms two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Check in was very easy. The staff were super helpful when we wanted to go out and see the sights. Breakfast was beautiful out in the deck with nature all around us. Honestly I can’t think of anything we didn’t like. Our stay was perfection from beginning to end.

- Christine (10/5): Cloud Forest Paradise - What an amazing place! I spent a lot of time on the grounds, as I was recovering from a cold when I first arrived and needed to rest and recover, and this was the most perfect place to do that. I loved the little walking trail, and there were always cute birds to see from the main lodge area. We had a lot of wind and rain when I was there, which was very fun and added to the cozy cabin-like experience. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, and I loved the high-ceilinged shower with nice toiletries. As a solo traveler who did not plan many activities in advance, the front desk staff were super helpful and patient with all my questions. They booked so many tours for me (ziplining, night tour, and shuttle to Santa Elena) that all picked me up straight from the hotel. Eva also told me about the Monteverde En Casa app so that I could get food delivery! There are some restaurants close by, but that was a lifesaver on those cold and rainy nights when I just didn't want to leave my cozy room. The location is awesome, but just be aware that you are a bit farther from town. Ultimately I think it's worth it, but I did spend a bit more money to get delivery rather than walk solo in the dark some days. Rooms can get a bit chilly so bring sweats if you are prone to being cold like me.
