• Mark (10/5): Absolutely fabulous! - A beautiful old house done up very tastefully. Lots of lovely personal touches, smelt beautiful, homely decorated with chocolates and biscuits on arrival. The kitchen had lots of food supplies as well as fresh milk and eggs in the fridge! Plus the best Chinese food we have had in a long time about a 50 metre walk.... Maybe the stairs for our large luggage but understand you wont get this type of old building on the ground.

Facilité de parking juste sous les fenêtres.

• Putrid (10/5): - The apartment was kept to a high standard, very clean, well equipped with board games to play, a smart TV with a guest Netflix account, small but perfectly formed kitchen, a comfortable, warm bed, as well as some toiletries in the shower, and various sweets and breakfast items to happily snack on. I can honestly say there wasn't a single thing I disliked about this property, or my stay there.

• Enn (10/5): Fabulous wee retreat home - Absolutely fantastic wee place! Very clean, loved the eggs left for the morning! The wee touches made a lovely stay even better. Both my family and my in laws stayed here over the span of two weeks and both families said how fabulous the host Tina was. Highly highly recommend and we can’t wait to book the family in again! They’ve all said they won’t stay in Lockerbie if they can’t book in here!!

• Martin (10/5): Home from home, and the most comfortable bed! - Beautiful cosy apartment with everything you could possibly need to make the stay comfortable, Tina and Scott went out of their way to make me welcome. The conversion of this property from a former 6 bedroom B&B to a family home with a self-contained apartment has been very cleverly planned and executed. The shared garden at the back is beautiful. Nothing. This is a first floor apartment accessed up a steep staircase which I know that some would find challenging.

Good wifi and streaming services. Though there is a (very large) sofa bed, the apartment is probably best suited to a couple as only one toilet and bathroom, which can only be accessed from the main bedroom

• Lynda (10/5): A very enjoyable stay with hosts who think of everything to make their guests comfortable - This place is immaculate! The hosts do a great job of keeping the apartment absolutely gleaming, and it has everything you need for a short stay. It’s very well located - walking distance to the train station, a big Tesco, pubs and takeaways - but it is still peaceful. Tina made us very welcome when we arrived, leaving tea & coffee for us, plus milk and eggs in the fridge, and even treats and a ball for my friend’s dog. Oh, and there were treats for humans too, in the form of some gorgeous buttery shortbread biscuits and chocolates. My friend had the sofa bed, which is enormous! There’s a super-thick mattress topper that fits on it and it was declared the most comfortable sofa bed ever. It is the thoughtfulness and attention to detail that really sets the Retreat apart. Highly recommended if you need a place to stay in Lockerbie. We were in the area for a wedding in Gretna, and it is very convenient, as it only takes 15 to 20 minutes to get there. The entire region is really beautiful and well worth a visit. Nothing!

Lockerbie didn't have the most variety in terms of places to eat but the apartment had good cooking facilities and supermarket nearby so was not a problem.

• Tracyann (9/5): Would highly recommend. Place was immaculate. - The apartment was lovely. It had everything you could want. It was immaculate with an extremely comfortable couch and bed. Tastefully decorated with lovely touches like goody bag for fur babies plus milk, eggs, cereals etc for humans. I would definitely stay here again/recommend to others. There wasn’t anything apart from it being a bit cold when sat watching tv. Fine through the night though.
• Adrian (10/5): Lovely Place to Stay. - It was nice to meet Tina when I went to collect my key, so much better than getting it from a key-safe, and she showed me around the apartment. As with places of this quality, I always feel it's a bit wasted on me, as it would be perfect for guests who are visiting the area for leisure. The apartment is tastefully decorated, with everything you'll need for a stay away. There is plenty of room with a large living room, the bedroom is lovely and the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is very modern, with a very powerful shower. The milk and eggs were a great touch, as were the sweets and biscuits, which were soon devoured. There's a Tesco within walking distance, parking outside is easy, and the area is very quiet. I'll definitely book again. Nothing to say here - I loved it.

Snack, milk, eggs, cereal, real coffee, tea bags and more. It’s the cleanest, best decorated place I have stayed in for many, many years. Only that I wasn’t staying longer.

The host was very welcoming and even left some little treats for when we arrived! The access is a little restricted since it's upstairs

• Julie (10/5): Exceptional - The stop was just off the M74 so easy to find and start your journey the next day. Having breakfast items in the cupboards and fridge (cereals, tea, milk, eggs) was completely unexpected. The host made the property accommodating for humans and dogs alike. There were dog treats, food and water bowls and plenty of dog throws for the furniture. There was a lovely selection of toys for our daughter as well as little chocolates, shortbread and plastic plates, bowls and cups makes life so much easier. We didn't use the outside facilities however you get a good view from the bedroom window, the garden is immaculate with plenty of room for your dog to play and do business. Honestly can't remember the last time I stayed in a such a well equipped property. You can tell the owners took pride in choosing the decor, furniture and soft furnishings. Will definitely be stopping again.

From my initial booking to our stay everything was handled perfectly. I feel I messed the owners around as I didn’t know my arrival time until last minute and then I changed I was coming with my kids to I was coming with my husband. All of this was taken in their stride by the owners and nothing was a problem. The property was ready for us in advance of our arrival time so I made my way along to collect the key and get a look around with Tina the owner. Wow. What an impressive space. Such a beautiful home from home feeling - comfortable and cosy with lots of bits and pieces to make our stay first class. From toiletries in the shower and everything you needed to wash up to eggs, milk, a breakfast selection, coffee and treats. So appreciated. Especially given we were only there for one night. Super comfortable bed. Very quiet and peaceful. Great to be able to watch tv whilst I wound down. To be fair nothing! My only regret is as we were attending an event in Lockerbie that we didn’t get longer to enjoy our surroundings. I’d definitely return!

• Alma (10/5): This is the best example of how guest accommodation should be - I liked the fact that the owners obviously want their guests to enjoy their stay by providing accommodation to exacting standard, a friendly welcome, many extras in the kitchen and bathroom and are willing to provide what they can (garden access for dogs, bike storage for example) to make a stay at Mains Retreat memorable and repeatable I can’t think of a thing

Furnished to a high standard with lovely additional touches including milk and eggs in fridge, chocolates, cake, cereal and biscuits. Nothing could be improved upon. My kids absolutely loved their double room, with their own TV. They asked me if we could stay a few more nights!

• Julie (10/5): Perfect, comfortable and spotless - Our hosts Tina and Simon were a wonderful couple, they met us on arrival and showed us the apartment which was stunning and comfortable, and the added extra of tea/coffee, milk, cereal, eggs and beautiful Scottish Shortcake and Scottish fudge cake and or course the roses chocolates. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed our however short would highly recommend nothing everything was perfect
