Guest Reviews
- Paul (10/5): - Stunning
- David (10/5): A terrific weekend !!!! - Had a terrific breakfast each morning, had great evening entertainment.
All the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Nothing.
- Morgan (10/5): - Brilliant location. Spacious room. Wonderful breakfast and the staff including the manager was very hospitable.
- Glyn (8/5): - Location was good for my needs.
Breakfast was very good All was good very good staff were brilliant going back.
- Amy (9/5): - Beautiful historic house, original features. Very comfy bed and furnishings to a high standard. We unfortunately only got one night here where we arrived a little later than we'd have liked and needed to be away earlier in the morning so we didn't sample the breakfast, but we'd very much like to visit again and stay longer. Beautiful surroundings and the swimming pool looks a great added feature. A little tricky to find in the dark as you drive through the caravan park to get to the main house, we felt unsure if we were going the right direction but I'm sure in the day light it's much more obvious.
- Jessica (1/5): Diddnt stay due to rude staff - Diddnt get to go Staff we rude upon enquiries- attempted to change the booking and they said no after being rude
- Kenneth (10/5): -
However... Toilet had schoner gekund.

- Martyn (10/5): would come back! - value for money was excellent. very clean. massive room and great facilities.
- Ethan (10/5): -
- Emma (2/5): - The bed was comfy The room was dirty not vacuumed and very dusty and the windows were broken and dangerous
- Juliana (10/5): The stay was very enjoyable and I hope you take this as constructive criticism just a few tweeks will make it more enjoy - The rooms were lovely very spacious & comfortable beds No non slip bath mat in the bath which was quite difficult to get into. No bin in the bathroom to put used shower bottles etc. pillows were very thin. Wall lights next to the bed were high up in the wall you had to get out of bed to turn the light out after reading your book.
- Natasha (7/5): Overall really nice place with a very friendly chef - The spa was lovely , the food was very nice. some staff were friendly others not so much. The hotel is lovely full of character, however maintenance required, exposed wires on light fixtures light also flickering, hair dryers not working, whilst eating breakfast in the morning we were not shown to the restaurant we were left in the bar, the chef took the order the food was nice but as we were eating the cleaner sprayed polish and strong air freshener all around really ruining our meal.
- Charlene (10/5): Fab stay! - Lovely location, spacious comfy rooms, staff were lovely and accommodating. Would love to return soon.
- Polson (10/5): A wonderful stay with charming style, great food, and friendly service - We had a wonderful stay! The room was beautifully styled with a modern touch, while still keeping its charming old features, The combination of classic character and contemporary design made it feel cosy, elegant, and very special.
Breakfast was lovely and plentiful, and we also enjoyed a delicious dinner in the restaurant. Everything was beautifully prepared and full of flavour. The staff were warm and welcoming throughout our stay.
A special thankyou to Jade for serving us with such genuine smile, and compliments to the chef for the fantastic food. We truly left well looked after and would happily return.
- Lady Louise Rooney (8/5): Woodlands Hotel and Spa - Room was a family Room lovely and clean. Tea/coffee and hot chocolate š« & Biscuits.
Bathroom quite small though. Bathroom spacious so could have put a bigger bath in. Lots of fresh towels. Bath too small.
- Bobby (10/5): -
- Jack (10/5): -
- Brenda (10/5): Perfect - The hotel has beautiful surroundings. It is very clean with excellent facilities, the staff were so helpful and really look after their guests. It was so peaceful we had the best sleep. We did not want to leave. We are going to return with rest of the family. That we didnt stay longer, we did not want to leave. It was beautiful. Thank you for a lovely stay Woodland Hall.
- Jade (10/5): Beautiful getaway, beautiful views - The room was lovely, I stayed in the family room and it was just perfect. The staff were amazing! Couldnāt do more, so helpful and friendly. Will 100% be returning Nothing really.
- Thatcher (4/5): I was hopeful, it looked like a lovely place. Nice room but lack of attention to detail spoilt visit - Room was nice, and bed comfy Bathroom - there was a turd in the toilet and "toilet snails" inside the pan, despite a sticker on the room door saying the room had been "professionally cleaned"
Breakfast - no menu, no muesli, no brown bread for toast, no marmalade, tea in a cup, i.e. no pot, a sundae spoon to stir my tea?
Cup of tea in the room - UHT milk was off so the last mouthful of tea was lumps, presumably curds and whey - gross..
- chris (1/5): -
- Robert (10/5): - The location Nothing all was good
- Paige (5/5): -
- Ayub (5/5): -
- Emma (5/5): - Location Wifi does not work
Hair in the bed which ruined it
No towels or even a bar of soap to wash hands
No dish cloth to wash up
- Carly (1/5): Awful - No water for over 24 hours when we arrived. Caravan was dirty. Found ear plugs and dirty socks covered in dust under the beds The whole experience
- Midhun (7/5): -
- Nia (7/5): - Room was huge and absolutely gorgeous, all staff we met were lovely too. Bed was very comfortable and the room was very modern. Lots of parking and added perk of 20% off food and drink for hotel guests which was amazing!
We had a lovely relaxing stay. The main door leading up to the bathroom/bedroom didnāt lock, only the bedroom could be locked. On two occasions our door was opened and people entered the room, they left when they heard us talk/walk around etc. One occasion whilst I was in the bath which was quite scary. We emailed the hotel and still havenāt had a response so be careful if staying in the Tower Room when leaving the bedroom into the bathroom.
- Griffiths John (10/5): Enjoyable will book again - Comfy very spacious Nothing
- Gary (8/5): -
- Owen (8/5): -
- Stephen (8/5): Great location great staff although we werenāt made aware on booking of the owners party great night thanks for the invi - Staff facilities Not their fault but a leak resulted in other family members leaving a night early in one of the caravans
- Gemma Marie (9/5): I went for a stay with my husband, was a really nice stay, staff friendly and was welcoming. -
- trudie (10/5): -
- diana (6/5): - Up grade looks lovely Cobwebs and flys all over the room and faeces in the toilet . Tea and coffee not replenished on our second night or towels .
- Laura (1/5): We would not return. - Upon arrival, we were told the room we had booked was double-booked, and we had to wait over an hour before being given keys to a different room. The room provided was not the one we booked ā instead of two double beds, we were given one double bed and a make-up bed.
The alternative room itself was in very poor condition:
⢠The windows did not work.
⢠The room door did not lock securely.
⢠There were dead flies in the towels provided.
⢠The bath leaked badly, flooding the bathroom floor.
⢠The bedding was stained and the room was dusty, causing me to suffer persistent sneezing even after my stay.
⢠Noise from the hotel continued until 1:30am, preventing us from getting any rest.
When we raised these issues, we were told we would be refunded. However, four days later we were informed that this must now be done through Booking.com, which has caused further inconvenience.
Given the catalogue of problems ā from being given the wrong room, the unacceptable cleanliness standards, the unsafe facilities, and the disturbance to our stay.
- Keakile (4/5): -
- Angela (9/5): Very good value for money - Friendliness of staff, comfortable accommodation with easy parking Nothing
- Owain Llyr (8/5): -
- McCormack (8/5): - Staff were so lovely sorting our booking when they had no water on site. Very swiftly relocated at no extra cost
- M Waqas (7/5): Good stay, but very bad experience due to water supply cut for over 24 hours. - Clean and tidy. Had a water cut during our stay, management didnāt had a clue how to help the residents of the park. No effort made to provide bottles water at the property.
Didnāt had a cozy feeling. No board/card games provided at the property (booked via Lyons directly, would prefer to book via private hosts- more considerate and welcoming).
- Fazekas (7/5): - The room was perfect, bed exelent, the view from the room (TOWER) was also beautiful. The interior design of the hotel is impressive from the inside. We were always able to park as there werent that many people. Kitchen:
Basically the kitchen is completely dead. The menu does not reflect reality, as there were many gluten free dishes listed and some that were also available in GM versions. My wife is celiac, does not tolerate gluten-containing foods. So I continue, there is no waiter, the lady sitting at the bar really tried to help and we waited about 30 minutes before it turned out that they could not guarantee anything on the menu because the cross contamination is up there, because they did not have clean oil, so they could not even fry anything in the pan. This is a JOKE! I am not gluten free, and since I was very hungry I asked for a duck from the menu, which was not available, then a risotto, which was not either. The lady at the bar went into the kitchen for the 7th time to ask specifically what the chef could offer on the menu. I asked for a burger, which they could only make with sirloin steak, because they did not have hamburger meat. The end result of what I managed to eat for 18 pounds was a bun of 2 pieces of lettuce and 5 thin slices of sirloin steak. This is a joke!
Room "cleaning" every other day, if you ask, if you dont tell the reception they wont come! We were there for 4 nights, but as an experienced guest I asked everything at check-in. On the 2nd day we indicated that we needed 1-2 things, no cleaning needed. Since we left our room at 11 am, they left everything on the floor in front of the room. The staff, including the "defrost chef", is 3 people. The cleaner is only in the hotel for a few hours.
- u (7/5): - Everything 1 of the lights had no switch
- Naing (8/5): - We had a great stay at this caravan park. The caravan was spotless, modern, and well organised, with everything we needed. Beds were very comfy, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The park itself is clean and well maintained, with excellent facilities including a playground, restaurant, walking trails, and easy parking. The setting is beautiful, surrounded by mountains, making it a peaceful place to relax. Highly recommend and would definitely return.
- Shakira (4/5): Overall it was definitely disappointing. - It was a cosy caravan, good for family time and hot tub is good. It was quite far away from a lot of things,
Also the water turned off for two nights in a row and we had no water to shower at all it was absolutely horrible.
- Dianna (1/5): -
- Dineley (8/5): Family stay August 25 - Lovely room
Loved the history and decor.
Quiet retreat The food wasn't good and there was a very long wait for it.tho it wasn't busy .
Having 3 children the menu wasn't great and poor portions and not good food at all.
Breakfast was very disappointing with unedable vegan bacon.looked like dog chews .also the sachets of milk in our room where 2 weeks out of date.
- John (10/5): -
- Salma (6/5): Nice and quiet but not many amenities. - The caravan was nice and clean. the area. The caravan park however is very nice and quiet and in a lovely countryside location with nice views. Lots of cos and sheep. They have a nice little park for kids to play in. Thereās an Aldi about 8 minutes drive away. There werenāt any towels provided. Also, we requested a cot, but they didnāt give one. The kids room was quite small. Thereās no WiFi and the area has quite a low network coverage! I could barely use my data. The nicer attractions are quite far away from the area. The road up to the caravan park is very tight and difficult if 2 cars are passing each other. The check out time is so early 10am!
- Rita (4/5): This was very disappointing as we treated our grandchildren to a hotel break! - It was a nice room. No bin in bathroom. Stain on bedsheets. Duvet on both beds too heavy for summer. Crumbs in drawer. Mark on basin in bathroom. The lights blew after weād turned lights off!!
- Ibrahim (1/5): -
- Ali (10/5): Family friendly and very cosy - Very good location and family friendly environment Wouldāve been better if the caravans had wifi
- Jamie (2/5): Had all the potential to be a good stay - Clean and easy to find 2 hour wait to get my room key, receptionist had messed up all the keys and I then had someone open my room door when I was in there. The staff on the evening were brilliant and very helpful. Not so much with the receptionist
- Neville (1/5): Worst experience - We had planned a family holiday with children at Lyon Woodlands to spend family time together. To my desperation there was no water supply at the caravan during our stay from 9 to 10th August 2025 so we had to leave the property with children in disappointment.
This is my worst experience and would not recommend anyone for stay here. We had planned a family holiday with children at Lyon Woodlands to spend family time together. - Sarah (5/5): - Was peaceful Not much to do for kids
- ikbir (9/5): - Very quiet, picturesque location. The caravan was very well presented and had good cleaning standards. Perhaps some tea, coffee supplies would be nice.
- Janice (8/5): -
- Kinsella (5/5): - Food was brillant Rooms was to hot no fans veiw was terrible loojing at tools in a garage an a bin some of the staff was rude drunken people next door no netflix on tv for 116 pound a night its shocking

- Elizabeth (5/5): - Fantastic building, newly refurbished. Comfy room. A few days before the stay the hotel sent a confirmation message through booking.com which stated a higher price than what was on the original booking. The message included the hotel's email address for any queries so I emailed them and asked why the price was different. The only answer they gave was that I should take it up with booking.com and they ignored follow up messages. On arrival they charged the original price but I wasted admin time and was worried by the misinformation.
The food wasn't great and the kitchen wasn't always open as advertised.
- Alison (7/5): Good one night stay - Newly refurbished rooms
Wooden panelling in building is lovely

- Rebecca (4/5): - They was no heating or hot water, the rooms was freezing and we wasn't made aware of this till i checked in. They wasn't any food been served even though it stated the restaurant was open from 6pm.

- Anthony (1/5): TERRIBLE; DON'T WATE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON THIS PLACE - Location was all that I can say was positive about our stay. Where to begin? The entrance hall is filled with post/amazon packages and junk which is never a great first impression. We eventually found the person designated to check us in who "doesn't normally work there". He handed us a key and said "room is upstairs". Room one: not what we had booked. Twin beds to start with. No plug points near the bed. Dirty smear mark on the wall between the beds. Strange smell in the room. Shabby. Went downstairs and complained. Was handed a second key and left to our own devices to find the next room. Room 2: small double bed (again not what we had booked) and the softest mattress I have ever had the misfortune of having to "sleep" on. In fact if you sat on the edge it collapsed. Big dirty mark on the carpet, kettle plugged in to an extension cable that is frankly hazardous, no towel rail in the bathroom, half a loo roll, a broken bin and mould in the grout. No welcome pack in the room detailing breakfast time etc (and this information was not volunteered by the check in person either). As it was late and we had been travelling for over 5 hours we decided to tolerate it for the night and deal with it in the morning. Went out into town to get some dinner and on our return discovered the "hotel" was locked. There is no out of hours number to call and there was no staff on site. I had to force the front door open to get access to the building! After the worst nights sleep (or lack thereof) ever, we decided to leave. There was no one to be seen and there was no one offering breakfast (which we had paid for). To top it all off we got a call later in the day demanding to know when we were going to make payment! Full payment was made on 11 December which I now bitterly regret as had it not been they certainly would not have seen £244 from me! Absolute dump. The "Hotel" is really just a clubhouse for the caravan site.
- Chris (5/5): Very disappointing - No one on reception to check in , ( another couple had been waiting 40 mins also) we had to find the keys behind the desk , no one at check out.
E-mailed afterwards and still not had a reply , very disappointing

- ANGELA (2/5): - Due to storm Darragh weekend of 6 Dec 24 it was a catastrophic stay. The young manager should have made sure the staff stayed overnight to look after us in the morning. This didn't happen and given that this storm had been forecast a day earlier and you didn't prepare for it. So the the following morning when there was no staff about or even phone nos to ring in case of emergency me and another fellow guest had to make breakfast for 6 of us. This was poor show on my books and when the manager finally showed up at 11 30 am he was surprised we had the gimtion to cook breakfast.I therefore think we are owed a refund or some kind of recompense
..I will not be recommending your hotel to anyone...all on all we escaped with our lives.....never again Looking fwd to your reply !! Get some staff for a start
- Mike (1/5): In essence, this so called hotel is nothing more than a bar/clubhouse and cafe for the caravan park. - The room was spacious and the shower was powerful and hot. Literally everything else. The hotel (and I call it a hotel in the loosest of terms) was just utterly dreadful.
- Sarah (1/5): Unhelpful staff, avoid this destination. - .. I am still waiting for a reponse to my email.:
Can you please refund my booking. We arrived at the property to find no power on the whole site. We hung around hoping the power would be restored, however it was becoming very dark and cold and my toddler was hungry and upset. As a result we have left the property and returned home. Could you please refund the booking. Thank you
- Iftkhar Ahmed (1/5): I had to wait 45 minutes for my room keys. There was no one at reception. I tried calling office number numerous times a - Location Service
- john (8/5): - All good, comfortable room and bed, good breakfast
- Rachael (8/5): -
- Emma2328 (10/5): Amazing staff and place to stay! - We had an amazing time at Lyons Woodlands Hall. We had booked a lodge weeks ago and had no idea that there would be a storm! We managed to get to the hotel after driving through floods and fallen trees etc. When we arrived, there was no one in reception and we sat down to warm up and wait in the bar. After a few minutes, a really nice man called Will asked us about our stay and what we had booked etc. He couldn't have been more helpful, especially when he explained that there were hardly any staff in because of the storm. He spoke to his manager who agreed that, should we not be able to travel home on Sunday as planned, that we could stay an extra night free of charge. He offered us afternoon tea free of charge and explained about breakfast with Santa in the morning. He honestly deserves a pay rise and a bonus for Xmas!!
The lodge itself was clean, spacious and very warm, the heating had been left on which we were very grateful for! There were 2 toilets, which, when you have 3 teenagers, was a godsend! The kitchen had plates, mugs, cooking utensils etc. The beds were comfy and we all had a good night's sleep, even with the wind raging. I'd read some previous reviews about the lodges and was apprehensive about staying here, but in my opinion, it was a lovely stay and the staff were beyond helpful. We can't fault a thing.

- James (1/5): Absolutely shocking!!! - On first arriving the camp looked great and well kept and it went downhill quickly from there!!
Arriving at the hotel we checked in and went to find the room I really donāt know how they can call themselves a 4 star hotel the room was fairly poorly maintained and quite dirty with mouldy grouting in the bathroom went down to the bar / restaurant and had a few drinks and then went for a bite to eat later on in the evening and that was even more disappointing than the room I ordered a double cheeseburger that was supposed to come with bacon coleslaw salad etc I canāt even be sure if the burger was actually meat came with no coleslaw or bacon no members of staff came to check on us because the restaurant staff was also the entertainment for the evening so off we went to go to sleep the noise from the bar was quite bad until very late on the bed was awful so 9 am get sorted and head down for the breakfast that was included to find no breakfast or no staff !!!
- allan (9/5): - My Previous answers explain my stay
- John (10/5): - Hotel and all of the staff where exceptional Early closing of the bar and unable to gain access to room until 3pm as we where only stay one night
- Phil (10/5): A unique hotel with amazing staff, thank you Will and team. - Found this real gem by chance but what a find. Couldnāt find any fault in this hotel. Our room was beautiful. We ate both breakfast and evening meal on both days of our stay and the food was fantastic. For us what made this stay even more amazing were the staff. Will; the f&b manager was amazing and so attentive. He really couldnāt do enough for us. The young girl working in the restaurant was fantastic too. In the process of building a swimming pool, wish it had been finished.
- Sterren (8/5): Well worth the stay! - The hotel is absolutely beautiful with all its old panelling. The roomprice is certainly value for money.
Maintenance guy extremely helpful. - thank you again. No filter coffee (at breakfast), machine was broke.
The menu on the website did not reflect the bar menu.
The room was fine, but did not look like the one on booking.com site
- Georgina (9/5): Would recommend to family, friends - Very comfortable nice place food nice
