• jeanrenault (9/5): Vue superbe - Excellent accueil, petit déjeuner copieux livré à la chambre. Vue exceptionnelle sur la montagne environnante. Accès à la ville assez facile via la voie de chemin de fer. Juste le débit d'eau de la douche très réduit!
• Elisa (8/5): Leckeres Frühstück bei schöner Aussicht - Das Frühstück war sehr lecker, der Ausblick wirklich schön und Buddi hat uns alle Fragen beantwortet. Uns hat es nicht gestört aber es wäre vorher gut zu wissen gewesen, dass der Weg etwas anstrengend ist. Man kann natürlich ein TukTuk nehmen aber dafür wollten wir nicht extra Geld ausgeben. War zu Fuß aber völlig machbar. Es gibt keine Klimaanlage aber auch die war nicht nötig weil es in Ella nachts recht frisch ist. Der Ventilator war etwas laut aber hat seinen Dienst erfüllt. Der Wasserstrahl von der Dusche hat das Bad etwas überflutet aber dafür war das Wasser warm :) Rundum haben wir uns wohl gefühlt und würden es weiter empfehlen.

• Lynn (10/5): Wonderful family run accommodation, Magnificent views. - We stayed three nights and loved the Blue Ribbon Homestay! We arrived during a driving rain storm soaking wet (long story) and the manager, Buddhi, greeted us with extra towels and two cups of hot tea. When we checked out, it was before breakfast, and he made sure we left with a bunch of bananas for our drive. Thankfully, the weather dried out and we could enjoy the magnificent views. We slept so well here, breakfast was always very good and served at the table overlooking the beauty that is Ella. It’s true, the water pressure is low, but with a little adapting, we easily took short showers. Be sure to walk down the train tracks for the best way into town (dont take the road), and if you take a tour that’s in a car or van, chances are you will have to meet them at the main road, but a tuk tuk can make it to the accommodation just fine. All in all, we absolutely recommend a stay with Buddhi and his family at this homestay in the hills of Ella.

• Thomas (10/5): Une belle à Ella …. - Un hôte accueillant et serviable dans ce lieu niché dans la montagne: calme avec une belle vue Petit déjeuner copieux et savoureux pris sur la terrasse en regardant la montagne ⛰️. Le lieux est très propre et bien entretenu. Douche bien chaude le soir 😃 et très tiède le matin 😳
• Guillermo (7/5): Bonitas vistas pero a qué precio. - Desayuno muy bueno, contundente y variado (dulce y salado), pero está disponible de 8 a 10, algo tarde si quieres ir a hacer las rutas típicas de Ella y no derretirte en el intento. El anfitrión es amable, pero muy distante, en este sentido no es un "homestay" cómo otros de Sri Lanka, no hay casi interacción personal; es un hotel que gestiona un particular. Las vistas son preciosas desde la terraza de la habitación, pero para mi no compensa por la ubicación (esta muy alejado de la zona de restaurantes y desde donde se empiezan las rutas), aunque se puede ir caminando en unos 15-20 min sin peligro. En tuk-tuk es una ruta estimulante. Para nosotros, las vistas no compensan la ubicación. El baño está limpio, pero en un intento de hacer que los grifos parezcan un nacimiento de agua en la roca, los chorros se dirigen mal y acabas empapando todo, tanto en ducha como en lavabo.

The views from our terrace were incredible, the breakfast served directly to our table outside our 2 rooms was the best one we had during our entire stay in Sri Lanka (with the fluffiest homemade banana pancakes and tastiest egg hopper!), the kindness of the owner who was always there to help, the very comfortable & clean beds protected by mosquito nets (although we didn't really see/hear any while we were there,), the array of wildlife just on our doorstep who came to visit us on our terrace... Even the fact that it was only a 10-minute walk into town (although part of the way is along the very dimly lit railway track!!! Our driver had to follow the road that slowly climbs up and up which is ridiculously steep and narrow at times! . The only thing was the lack of water pressure and the somewhat tepidly warm water in the shower! But given the hot temperatures outside it wasn't too much of a problem in the end!

• Elina (9/5): Super erholsame Unterkunft in Ella, die etwas abgelegen und dich zentral zum Zentrum ist. - Das Homestay ist zwar etwas von der belebten Umgebung von Ella entfernt, aber es ist in ein paar Gehminuten gut erreichbar. Durch die Lage war es dort auch sehr ruhig. Das Frühstück war super lecker und auch die Familie war super nett. .
• Hannah (5/5): - Die Lage war sehr gut und das Bett war bequem. Der Host war auch nett. Es roch in dem Zimmer in dem wir waren sehr muffig und an der Decke sowohl im Schlafzimmer als auch im Bad war Schimmel. Kein Wunder, da es in diesem Zimmer keine Klimaanlage oder Lüftung gab. Die Fenster aufzumachen im Jungle ist nicht sehr schlau, da Tiere hereinkommen können. Daher keine Option. Unser Fenster im Bad war leider kaputt und daher hatten wir 3 mal Frösche im Bad. Darauf hätten wir verzichten können. Ein schönes Duscherlebnis hat man hier auch nicht. Der Duschkopf hat kein Druck und man braucht sehr lange bis man sich die Haare gewaschen hat. Zudem stand das komplette Bad danach unter Wasser. Für uns keine Empfehlung.

But mostly the view was STUNNING! even better than the photos on the website captured. Staff were also super friendly and we had a delicious breakfast on the morning. Thank you!

• marjon (6/5): Lokatie perfect, via spoorlijn binnen 10 minuten in centrum. Rustig gelegen. Hygiene in kamer op begane grond onvoldoend - Het balkon bij de kamer op de 1e etage. Fantastisch uitzicht en ontbijt plek. Kamer op begane grond was niet schoon (op eerste etage wel) en in badkamer zaten veel mieren. Eigenaar probeerde het op te lossen, maar had weinig effect.

• Grit (8/5): Unterkunft mit sehr gutem Ausblick - Die Aussicht war super, man schaut genau auf den Ella Rock. Zimmer- und Badgröße war gut und alles zweckmäßig. Es ist alles etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber sauber und ordentlich. Gutes Frühstück, nette Gastgeber. Es ist sehr hellhörig, nichts für Menschen mit leichtem Schlaf. Der Zug fährt ganz dicht vorbei.

• Moritz (5/5): Günstiger Aufenthalt mit sehr netten Gastgeber - Zimmer leider nicht sehr einladend. - Besitzer super nett, das Frühstück war sehr lecker und reichlich. Aussicht auf den Wasserfall ist wunderschön. Die Bilder versprechen leider etwas andere Zimmer, diese waren sehr spartanisch und voller Insekten. Man muss sich bewusst sein, dass man inmitten der Natur ist, und somit Lüften keine Option ist. Es gibt zudem zahlreiche Affen, vor denen man sich beim Frühstück in Acht nehmen sollte. Ins Zentrum laufen auch schwer möglich.

• Yen (10/5): Traullocation zum ausspannen. Absolut empfehlenswert - Die Zimmer waren sehr schön hergerichtet und der Ausblick vom Obergeschoss ein Traum. Das Beste Homestay was wir in Sri Lanka hatten. Buddi war sehr nett, unaufdringlich und hilfsbereit. Sehr gute Lage um vom Trubel auszuspannen, dennoch ist man schnell zu Fuß im Zentrum. Es war für unseren Fahrer mit dem Minibus etwas schwierig zu fahren, aber das betrifft die ganze Straße und viele Hotels die dort sind. Wenn man an den Bahngleisen entlang läuft ist man in Max 10 Minuten im Zentrum.

Excellent comfortable and clean rooms, with the most gorgeous view and delicious breakfast! It’s up a hill with view of waterfalls etc, and only a quick walk down to the main street in Ella with loads of restaurants. The perfect spot to explore Ella in a serene location! The family who run it are lovely and made our stay extra special. They offer a great laundry service and as said a truly great breakfast!

• Jessie (8/5): Great stay in Ella - Really nice location, kind owner and beautiful view from the balcony room. We were welcomed with coffee and tea. The room is good, airco is not necessary here, the fan is fine. There is a fridge and we could wash our clothes. Only the shower is a bit medium, low pressure. You can easily walk everywhere.

• VK (9/5): - Eine Aussicht, an der man sich nicht satt sehen kann. Ort ist sehr gut erreichbar über die Schienen uns man ist schnell mitten im Geschehen. In der Nachbarschaft gibt es ein hotel mit Pool den man auch als Gast benutzen kann, auch dort eine super tolle Aussicht. Etwas teuer für das, was es ist ä(v.a. wenn man ohne Frühstück bucht), im Badezimmer etwas Schimmel am der Decke

Wir hatten leider ein Zimmer unten wo man keinen direkten Ausblick hat, aber wir konnten dann spontan oben frühstücken, was wirklich toll war. Von dort hat man eine traumhafte Aussicht :) Es war vorab nicht klar dass man nicht von allen Zimmern eine gute Aussicht hat. Aufenthalt war trotzdem super :)
• Nicolas (7/5): Agréable mais bruyant - Chambre spacieuse, homestay proche du centre en 10 min max à pieds en passant par les voies ferrées ce qui est sympa comme balade. Petit déjeuner copieux et très bon Personnel serviable et sympathique La maison se trouve à l’écart certes mais collée à une route très empruntée jour et nuit. Notre chambre était en bas, et nous trouvions à seulement 2 mètres de la route. Le bruit était très déplaisant et en plus de la route nous entendions toutes les personnes qui passaient devant discuter, un samedi soir il y en a eu toute la nuit malheureusement.. La vue décrite n’est pas vraiment dégagée depuis l’étage du bas non plus.

• Rachelle (9/5): - Seamless check-in and check-out. Although there is no air conditioning the fan provided was quite strong. As my mother and I wanted to hike a portion of the Pekoe Trail, the owner kindly accepted to keep our bags for a few days and transfer them to a driver who would bring them to us at the end of the hike. I was expecting a view from the property, unfortunately our room was on the ground floor and we did not have access to the balcony of the second floor. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the description of the room I selected? If you want a view make sure it specifies that it is on the second floor.
• Lea (9/5): Absolute Empfehlung - Super ruhige Lage aber trotzdem ist man in 5 - 10 Minuten zu Fuß im Zentrum. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Besonders gefallen hat uns auch das leckere Frühstück auf der Terrasse mit wunderschönem Ausblick!

• Liam (7/5): Nice stay and location - Amazing location and view. The breakfast was nice, filling and traditional. Did laundry for us free of charge. Organised a tuktuk in to town on our first evening. Hosts were kind and helpful. Although the hosts were helpful, there was no one around where we arrived and wasn’t an obvious check-in process. Someone found us eventually and showed us our room, but nothing was explained like WiFi, breakfast, payment, where to find the hosts. There were also lots of ants in the bathroom walking along an obvious trail.
• Paulina (10/5): - Beautiful view at the mountains, not very far from the city center. Good breakfast and it is possible to ask for laundry. WiFi works well. The owner was nice and helpful. We had very relaxing stay.
• Sebastiaan (9/5): Waanzinnig uitzicht - Fantastisch uitzicht! Heerlijk bed Ligt heerlijk rustig, loopafstand van het drukke plaatsje. De omgeving is echt prachtig!m, enorm genoten. Waterdruk was niet super en de badkamervloer was na het douchen nat, maar dat hebben we bij meer accommodaties in SL gehad dus blijkbaar gewoon hier.
• Matthias (8/5): Im Grünen mit Durchblick zum Little Adams peak - Haus liegt relativ abgelegen an einer kleinen kurvigen Strasse. Das grosse untere Zimmer hat einen Sitzplatz, wo das grosse Frühstück serviert wird. Umgebung sehr grün, viele Blütensträucher, freundlicher Service. Das untere Zimmer liegt sehr nahe an der Strasse, so dass man den Eindruck hat, die Tuktuks fahren grad durch das Zimmer. In der Nacht ist es aber praktisch ohne Verkehr. Zimmer relativ dunkel. Die oberen Zimmer haben sicher eine bessere Aussicht.
• Manu Lo (9/5): - Ein sehr süßes Zimmer, gemütliches Bett. Eins der tolles Frühstücke meiner Reise mit der schönsten Aussicht überhaupt. Die Lage ist etwas abseits, für mich jedoch genau richtig. Es war sehr ruhig, sehr gemütlich. Fußläufig gelangt man auch in die Stadt, zwischendurch ist mit kleinen Hügeln zu rechnen. Buddi war sehr hilfsbereit, er antworte auf Fragen ziemlich schnell. Und das Bettzeug hat sich ein wenig feucht angefüllt, was in der Lage, mit dem Regen, in den Regenwäldern bei den Temperaturen in den Bergen ohne Heizung auf dem Zimmer wahrscheinlich unvermeidbar ist.
• Thomas (10/5): - La chambre était très propre et le lit confortable, les hôtes nous ont accueilli avec un thé massala et le petit déjeuner était bon et copieux. Les environs d'Ella sont magnifiques mais il y a beaucoup de touristes. Le logement est très calme et se trouve à une bonne distance de la rue principale d'Ella qui est très bruyante (beaucoup de circulation et de cafés qui passent de la musique européenne, c'est sans grand intérêt) Agréable séjour, merci !
• Katra (7/5): - It was the greatest view on the jungle. We arrived late and the owner wait us without any problem. The breakfast and the tea was very good. There was some holes in the net. The floor was not very clean, but it was ok.

• Amit Gofer (8/5): נוף מהמם Buddi מארח מקסים - מיקום מצוין מול נוף יפה, מול המפלים ומול אלה רוק. החדר שלנו היה גדול והכיל שתי מיטות זוגיות. ארוחת בוקר עשירה וטעימה. זרם חלש מאוד של מים חמים.
• Nicholas (9/5): - Incredibly comfortable bed, the matress and pillows were sublime. Wonderful and filling breakfast view amazing views of the hills and waterfall. The tuktuks in ella are expensive vut we hired scooters so getting around was fine, you could also walk down into the main town easily The fridge in the room didnt work as the plug didn't fit the socket.

• Dennis (6/5): - Super Lage etwas außerhalb vom Trubel in Ella. Aber immer noch nah genug um schnell in der Stadt zu sein. Schöner Blick auf den Wasserfall! Das Bad wurde nach dem duschen nicht trocken und man musste danach im nassen aufs WC. Außerdem wirkte das Bad etwas arg in die Jahre gekommen. WiFi war zwar offiziell vorhanden, aber lief sehr unzuverlässig. Zudem gab es regelmäßig Stromausfälle
• Steff (7/5): - Der Ausblick vom Zimmer auf die Berge und den Wasserfall war super schön. Der Hoster hat sich sehr viel Mühe gegeben, um die Wünsche der Gäste zu erfüllen. Die Tuktuks und Autos fuhren direkt am Zimmer vorbei, was die Ruhe immer wieder störte. Aufgrund des Regens waren die Betten und Klamotten sehr feucht.
• Susan (9/5): Lovely quiet location with great views good host and great breakfast - Breakfast location and views were excellent. Host was very nice and helpful. Shower was very weak and water never got got enough for a warm shower.
• Mathilde (7/5): - Le lieu est suffisamment éloigné de la ville pour être relativement calme. Si vous le pouvez, demandez à obtenir une chambre à l’étage. La vue sur Ella Rock est superbe ( quand le ciel est dégagé) Le petit déjeuner est bon mais comparé à ce que nous avons pu avoir dans d’autres logements au Sri Lanka, on pourrait dire que c’est moyen. L’hote est très gentil et serviable mais ce homestay ne répond pas à des critères de base : pas d’accueil et n’apporte pas d’attentions particulières pour ses clients. Néanmoins, à la moindre question, Buddi répond présent et toujours avec le sourire. Lit confortable mais décoration d’une autre époque, une prise non fonctionnelle sur deux et eau de la douche rafraîchissante !
• Zoë (10/5): Perfect homestay - would 100% recommend. - The view was incredible - absolutely spectacular. Location was perfect for exploring the area. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. No hot water.
• ESTELLE (7/5): Homestay simple dans un bel environnement - Cet établissement est sur une petite route en hauteur proche de la ligne de chemin de fer (mais pas de nuisance car peu de train ) Accès en tuk tuk pris en charge par le patron à l arrivée et au départ En longeant celle ci on arrive en moins de 10 mn en centre ville Petit déjeuner correct Le personnel n est pas très réactif Nous avions des horaires à respecter le matin mais le petit déjeuner était toujours servi en retard Pas d eau chaude le 1er matin
• Patrycja (7/5): Average accomodation for reasonable price - Great breakfast , beautiful view, sounds from waterfall, nice host While high humidity in this area is normal , the downatairs room was very stinky, mold in all bathrooms, also stinky inserts info bed sheets. Cold water with low preassure, leacking sink. Difficult to get there (by tuk tuk or small car , 1km from main road)

• Marusha99 (8/5): Cute place in Ella - Blue Ribbon Homestay is a nice option to stay in Ella, walking 10min from the hectic centre  / via the train tracks. We had the Large Double room which had 2 large double beds, a seating area and a bathroom.  It was clean and had more than enough space for out family and space to keep our 4 big suitcases opened. From the terrace infront of the room we could see the waterfall. Buddy was a nice host, breakfast was delicious and abundant, we were sorry not to be able to eat all the delicaties they prepared for us each morning. The 1st restaurant that is located on the main road, Mateys Hut is an excellent option for external lunch or dinner. 2 things we did not like were and that is why I cannot give highest grade: 1. Part of the windows was not real glass but mosquito net, so the sounds from the street bellow and music in the distance were heard like the windows were wide opened all the time. Luckily the room was turned away from the tracks and trains did not pass so early morning nor late at night. But we heard everything that was going on outside which was not pleasant, and every night someting woke me up in the middle of the night. 2. Ant's invasion in the room, but I was prepared for it and brought sprey with me. It would've been good that this was provided by the accomodation as a prevention as we could not have had any, and being in the jungle we understand this is not something unusual.
• Steph (9/5): Beautiful location and view, lovely hosts - The location is beautiful, the host lovely and helpful. It’s walking distance to the market place yet away from the hustle and bustle of it. The bathroom could do with an extractor fan as it was very damp. The water wasn’t hot enough and shower didn’t work well

• Gerd (8/5): Schöner Aufenthalt mit Fernblick - Die Lage ist wunderschön wenn gutes Wetter ist und man die Aussicht genießen kann. Aber das ist nicht planbar. Wir hatten ein sehr großes Zimmer mit zwei Betten und einem Außenbereich wo wir das Frühstück bekommen haben. Dieses war lokal, frisch und mehr als reichlich. Das überfüllte Zentrum erreicht man in knapp 10 Minuten Fußweg über die Bahnschienen. Unser Gastgeber war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit Wir hatten 2 Nächte und würden die Unterkunft wieder buchen, daher eine klare Empfehlung. Das sind Kleinigkeiten wie: eine Duschabtrennung wäre schön, damit das Bad nicht unter Wasser steht und flexiblerer Kopfkissen.

• dana (7/5): Gut - Der Gastgeber ist sehr lieb und aufmerksam. Das Frühstück ist abwechslungsreich. Die Zimmer waren sauber. So schön die Unterkunft auch ist und der Gastgeber aufmerksam und hilfsbereit ist, so war es auch laut durch die Umgebung. Der Zug fährt hinter dem Haus, die Straße liegt vor dem Haus und die Hörnchen ballern nachts über das Dach. Oropax wären gut gewesen.

• Elisa (10/5): Perfect Hidden Gem - Hidden Gem. Fabulous hosts, great location. Such large breakfast choices. The views and wildlife are breathtaking and with such a short walk to town centre it really could not be faulted. The odd lizard or cricket managed to make its way into the room but all the beds have their own mosquito nets so everything was fine - it also couldn’t be helped given that the house sits in the forest.
• Veronika (10/5): Traumhaftes Frühstück mit ausgezeichneter Aussicht - Traumhaftes Frühstück mit ausgezeichneter Aussicht von Buddis Balkon! Wir blieben leider nur eine Nacht, aber wären gern länger geblieben. Saubere, große Unterkunft mit wunderbarer Terasse, von der man viele Tiere beobachten kann. Und doch etwas weg von dem wuseligen und überfüllten Ella, jedoch zu Fuß sehr schnell erreichbar (ca. 10min über die Bahnschienen). Buddi und seine Familie sind tolle Gastgeber, sehr zurückhaltend, doch unglaublich hilfsbereit. Preis-Leistung: unglaublich!

• Matthijs (5/5): - De locatie is prima, 10 min lopen en je bent in het centrum. Dit is voor mij geen homestay. Ik heb de eigenaar 1x gezien, verder geen contact gehad.
