Guest Reviews
- James (8/5): Riad Tazi. - Really friendly and helpful staff. It was difficult for my taxi driver to find.
- Mervina (8/5): Casablanca homestay - The Riad was difficult for the driver to find on the evening of arrival, and we were hesitant about staying. But in the light of day, the Riad was delightful. The host was easily contactable, and the Riad manager, Yahir, anticipated our every need. It was a few steps to the nearest cafe and bakery and appeared to be situated between 2 tram services. We had trouble manipulating the hot water system. We were given a single towel each. Both solved by Yahir
- Virginia (4/5): Not so great - The young man, Yahia, who greeted us and took care of us for the one night that we stayed, was the nicest, friendliest and most helpful host that he could be, given the circumstances of the property. He brought us juice and a tray of cookies when we arrived, and provided a proper Moroccan breakast in the morning (10 Euros). He also arranged for a friend of his to drive us to a restaurant, or anywhere else we needed to go; it seems that taxis are difficult to get in this neighborhood. The interior couryard of the riad looked nice, but the only furniture was two couches, a table and a few chairs. There is also a swimming pool and garden area surrounding it, with some tables and chairs. The taxi driver at the train station told us that the address of Riad Tazi was in a bad area, he was right. He was able to locate the street, but had to ask some people exactly where the property was. Without the taxi driver, we would NEVER have found this place. The front gate was in a narrow, unkempt alley, off the small main road. There was no sign with the name of the riad, nor was there a house number. A young man who happened to be there, pounded on the gate until Yahia opened it. The inside looked like a typical riad, with mosaic pillars and carved wood, but there was no reception area, only a table and 2 couches in the middle of the room. There was a box of tissues on the table, with some crumpled up ones next to it, that had not been thrown away. Yahia led us up some stairs to the upper floor where all the rooms are. Turns out we were the only guests there, and we found out later, only the 3rd party to have stayed since they opened about a month ago. We got a key to the entry gate and one to our room, which had one large window facing the hallway. There were no curtains on the window, only shutters on the outside. Since there was no AC, closing the shutters for privacy would reduce the air circulation, and it was still quite warm in the room. We asked for a fan, which Yahia evidently went out and bought and then assembled for us in the room. We also needed a hairdryer, which he had and brought, and there was only one bath towel and no hand towels, so he brought those as well. The floor did not look clean when we walked in; there were a few ants coming from the baseboard and crawling into the electrical socket above it; the bedspread had a dark stain on it. There were no towel bars or hooks in the bathroom, but it looked reasonably clean. We left after one night, though we were booked for 3. Payment was to be in cash, 300 Euros for 3 nights. We paid 100 which was too much for this place. Courtyard Marriott was 115/night w/brkfst!
