Guest Reviews
- Guest (5/5): Nice, but there were safety and cleanliness issues. - I enjoyed the view and the privacy of the property. The house had laundry facilities and other modern updates such as a dishwasher, and the decor was nice. The house was very clean except for the bed linen. The deck is in desperate need of repair. Many boards were warped and raised to the point of being hazardous, especially after dark. I didn’t want my son out walking around on it without me there, which was kind of sad because the deck is what really made the property appealing. Also the propane tank on the grill was empty. The host did offer to reimburse me if I went into town and exchanged the tank, but I didn’t take him up on that offer as there was a second grill that still had some charcoal left in it that I used instead to prepare dinner.
Finally the most disturbing thing I encountered was when I went to put my son to bed and rolled back the covers to find obviously dirty sheets with pubic hairs being very visible all over in the bed. I sent the host pictures and informed them that the sheets had obviously been slept in and were dirty. They did not respond to that text.
All in all the place was nice with the exception of the aforementioned issues, but I would probably not return unless I knew they had been corrected.
- Guest (10/5): It was what we needed. Simple, clean, comfortable. Wish we had a longer stay to enjoy the porch. - Simple and efficient in every way
- Alicia (10/5): Was a beautiful stop on our way through Colorado. Will definitely have to come back for a longer stay - I love the views There wasn’t anything we didn’t like
- Scott (9/5): Charming house with great views - The location was great. The house was fully equipped, cute and charming. The deck was huge with great views in every direction. The night sky from the deck was simply spectacular. It was cold outside but the wood burning stove was my new best friend. It kept the house warm. My first visit to Crestone and the house made our stay very pleasant.
We'll be back. Some things were a little worn but added to the charm.
- Forster (9/5): Superb -
- Dmitriy (10/5): Exceptional - Location
- Susanna (7/5): Good -
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful spot to see the stars. Has a wrap around deck for 3/4 of the house for amazing views. Very peaceful.
- Jennifer (1/5): I left and the host chose not to refund any of my money - It was not at all like the pictures. The outside was run down and dilapidated, screen off the window laying down, trash in the yard, mold all over the house, and broken down car with junk in it nextdoor
- Timothy (10/5): Beautiful, peaceful stay in Crestone! - Very cozy place nestled in the pine trees! It made you feel like you were at the only home out there. Host were very pleasant to deal with! Checking in and out was so easy!
- Yuriy (9/5): Perfect place to stay in warm weather! - The location is great for the purpose. It is definitely far away from busy life, but you probably look for it if you point your map at Crestone. It is worth to point that the property is just 100ft away from a pawed road so it is possible to get there literally anytime. The house is perfect, the bathroom is clean and large enough, both bedrooms are also good sized and the kitchen is well equipped for a couple day stay. Did I mention views? - They are gougers in any direction! Despite of all-weather access I would not way this house is perfectly fit for a winter stay. Half of the house still has old single-glazed windows and with the temperature regularly dropping to tens it requires a lot of efforts to keep the house warm. You might need to run electric and propane heaters continuously and help them from time to time with the nice wooden stove. It is not a big deal, but be prepared.
Based on a guest books I'd assume that owners are very experienced, however It would be nice to have some guide on how to find things in house, how to use them, etc. I accidentally solved the puzzle with finding the axe, but unable to find a paper to star fire. I also was lucky and found an electric heater. And etc. So some guidance to further guests would be very much appreciated.
Since house is wood/propane heated, I'd expect to have carbon monoxide and smoke detectors detectors which was not a case.
