Guest Reviews

- Harry (10/5): A nice private stay in Kanazawa - We didn’t get a chance to meet the host, Michio, in person, but he was very helpful, friendly and accommodating over WhatsApp.
The property is beautiful, with large rooms, multiple reverse cycle air conditioners and is very close to the Asano river, a Family Mart, and the beautiful Hagashi Chaya district. We also had no issues walking from the property to Kanazawa Castle and the Kenroku-en Gardens.
The stairs up to the second story are quite steep, which wasn’t an issue for us, but may not be suitable for some people.
We also enjoyed relaxing under the cozy kotatsu at the end of the day. Thank you Michio!
- Bryson (8/5): - Good location, good value for money, easy to check in. Lots of space Stairs were very steep but manageable. We went during winter it was quite cold in rooms without heating.
- Christopher (10/5): Love it - Love it. Stayed there every time I go to Kanazawa

- Ruth (10/5): Traditional and comfortable. - The property was beautiful and very clean. Everything was excellent and the host very friendly and welcoming. Nothing.
- Pierluigi (8/5): Nel complesso buono ma freddo - Intera casa. Posizione buona per le visite. Bagno freddissimo.
- Fee (10/5): - Authentic Japanese style decor with all modern conveniences.
- Janai (10/5): -
Siamo stati molto soddisfatti. Nulla
- Clea (6/5): Super location . Gorgeous authentic private - Our own little home !
Felt a bit special and authentic Bathroom

- Faustyna (10/5): Magiczny dom w japońskim stylu - Bardzo klimatyczne miejsce. Dom w starym stylu, minimalistyczny, idealny by wczuć się w kulturę Japonii. Czystość nieskazitelna. Wygodne łóżka i futony.
- Eleonora (10/5): Meraviglia - Struttura arredata in stile ryokan.
Michio è davvero gentile e disponibile.
- Sara (10/5): -

- Dragos (10/5): - Beautiful traditional japanese house, very clean, spacious, and with everything you need for a pleasant stay.
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - The host, Michio, was very friendly and picked us up from Kanazawa Station on the first day.
He gave us some pointers and recommendations on the area, which was appreciated.
The house itself is great, beautifully renovated with the authentic structure still in place. Last but not least the location could not be more convenient, as it's located about 15mins walk away from major tourist attractions such as Kenrokuen gardens and Higashi Chaya district.
Recommended! As also mentioned in other reviews but still good to know: the stairs are steep so this could be challenging for people with mobility issues.
- Catherine (8/5): True traditional house - The house was a true japanese traditional house which is what we wanted to experience. The kitchen is well equipped. The decor was lovely. It was very close to the geisha district, only minutes away. The staircase was more of a ladder than a staircase and it had no handrail: we were scared each time we went down. We kept our suitcases on the ground floor to avoid carrying them in those stairs.
The toilet is almost out of the house at the front: you have to be fully clothed to go there. Only the main room and bedroom are heated: it is quite cold going to the bathroom or the toilet.
The host could not provide transport and it was quite a long walk from the station with the luggage.
- Andrei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Prabh (8/5): Comfortable and convienient, but cold. - Location was very good, all sightseeing spots were within walking distance. The host was very helpful and provided a pick up service from the train station. The bathroom facilities were very good. The stairs in the property were very steep, so they might not be suitable for those with mobility issues. The property can get very cold depending on the weather, so if the forecast is cold weather you should ask for the heating to be turned on prior to your arrival.
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Diego (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elliot (7/5): Good -
- Jessica (10/5): Would use again if in Kanazawa area. - Good location. Staff was so helpful.
Comfortable and had everything we’d need. None
- Tegan (10/5): Wonderful house to stay at - Great place to stay to experience a traditional house.
Great communication from the owner.
Please expect steep stairs to get the bedrooms because that is how the houses are built.
- Christopher (10/5): great - everything. i’ve stayed there before.
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laurie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lachlan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Artyom (9/5): Superb - The house is beautiful and conveniently located near the city center. The bathroom is excellent, and the owners are very kind and welcoming.
Also free bath salts. The house can feel a bit cold at times.
- Danica (10/5): Excellent stay host was amazing! - Beautiful house very central and comfortable Nothing
- Gihardjo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (10/5): A great time all round. Would highly recommend. - A lovely traditional house in a great city. With everything we needed. The host was extremely friendly and showed us some recommendations whilst picking us up from the train station and even let us check in early. We only wish we could have stayed longer. There was nothing we didn’t like about our stay.
- Sarah (9/5): Traditional and very comfortable Japanese home in a great location. - The location was delightful, as was the whole home. It has great traditional Japanese features, while also having all mod cons. They had really thought through what makes a great experience eg beautiful crockery and artwork, as well as being well provisioned.
- Hana (10/5): We loved our time here, he house was beautiful and so comfortable and near some lovely coffee places - Beautiful house! We enjoyed staying here so much!
- Linda (8/5): Very good -
- Miguel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Henrik (9/5): Nice old house a short walk from the tea distrikt - The old architecture is charming. One incident of a visiting bug which name shall not be mentioned :-)
The staircase in the old house is a little intimidating to walk on because it is very steep :-)
- Rachel (10/5): A beautiful house so close to the centre! - This property was great! Such a good blend of traditional and modern with great touches. Nothing!
- Augustine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Solange (10/5): Amazing japanese experience - - Kindness of the host : The host picked us up at the train station and gave us some advices. Very much appreciated!
- Very traditional : Amazing experience
- Good location : Near the Geisha District and close to a bus stop It was a bit cold by night without the heating system but we made it work !
- Essa (7/5): Good - Location
Style
Tidiness It was a little bit noisy in the bedroom, we could here cars driving by at night and it wakes us up.
I believe it is better to set up the main room towards the back of the house ( the other room ).
Also, it would be great to add an iron and a board.
- Amsyari (9/5): Amazing experience for the price - The location was central. 10-15 mins walking to the Omicho Market, Kenrouken Gardens and the Geisha district. Near a nice river to promenade along. A lot of the restaurants nearby, although a number of them do require advance reservations.
The property was a nice experience. Traditional with modern amenities. Beds and futon were comfortable.
Kitchen had a lot of supplies that can be used. We spent the whole night steeping the green tea leaves in the cute Japanese teapot. There’s also coffee powder.
Great place with to have a group staycation and reconnect with friends. There’s cards games and Japanese chess to play with the whole night. On cold days you can make your own Nabe pot using the utensils and stove. The washing machine dryer function didn’t work well. Used the dryer for 90 minutes and our clothes didn’t dry. Even after doing a second round of 90 minutes it didn’t dry. Had to air out our laundry on the racks.
Sound insulation can be improved. At night when someone snores the whole house can hear it.
Would be good if there’s a heater in the area where we put our shoes, since we needed to walk through that in order to use the toilet everytime. Going in the middle of the night can be quite unpleasant.
- Natalia (10/5): Amazing house - Great house and host. He picked us up from the train station and explained us about the house. Very kind and helpful. The house was beautiful and spotlessly clean. Traditional and literally next to the center. There is nothing we didn't like.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kate (9/5): Lovely and spacious and well decked out. Gorgeous in every sense. Thank you - The place was amazing and had everything you needed to be comfortable. We arrived late and the easy access door code was perfect and the heated room and blanket was a lovely surprise. The beds were great and we were lovely and warm. The location was in the middle of everything, easy to walk to. Nothing about the accommodation that we didn't like except experiencing our 1st earthquake waking us up at 5am!! Obviously not the owners fault :-)
- Ross (9/5): Superb -
- Pierre-emmanuel (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely house, in a quiet district closed to the river. For a good Ramen, try the small Ramen restaurant behind the house at the riverside opened till late. The beds room at the street side can be too hell at night or morning-no curtain- but the futons room opposite is ecxellent for a deep sleep.
- Sc (9/5): We had a fabulous stay! - This beautifully renovated house is just 3-4 min walk to the Higashi-yama Chaya District. It offers plenty of space over two floors. The host Michio is wonderful. He allowed me twice for local couriers to be delivered to his office and brought them to the house for me. We enjoyed our stay immensely! One of the two bedrooms upstairs has no curtains, the only reason I didn’t give the place a 10. Some sliding doors or curtains that shield the foyer area would also have enhanced the comfort of the place.
- Mary (10/5): The property managers were incredibly helpful. The guest house is lovely. -
- Jack (9/5): Superb -
- Alan (9/5): Superb -
- Heather (9/5): 2 night stay in April - We loved this place. Great location for all the sights and lovely house perfect for our family of 3. Host collected us from the train station which was hugely helpful. Nothing at all
- Michelle (10/5): wonderful location and beautiful home in geisha district of Kanazawa - big comfortable bedrooms, amazing location near geisha district, owner was so kind and picked us up at station. beautiful old building restored to modern amenities. had washing machine and great kitchen.
- Pornphan (5/5): Passable -
- Kwun Kwan (6/5): -
- Dounis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (3/5): Poor -
- Robin B. (10/5): AMAZING Location and Beautifully decorated! - Property owner was amazing and very accommodating. It was a lovely vacation rental and we only wish we had more days to enjoy. The air conditioning worked very well. We took advantage of the excellent location to walk around the city. There was plenty of space for a family. Thanks for an amazing stay!
- Verified traveler (10/5):
