Guest Reviews

- Tye (10/5): Great views, even better hosts - The family running this homestay are spectacular. My room was upgraded for free, I dropped my camera in the rain and they offered to let me put it in rice to dry. The views are unbelievable. One of the kids gave me a little bracelet when I checked out which was so so sweet. I have zero complaints.
- Annapurna (10/5): Chan and her family were so lovely and kind. Their home is in a beautiful location overlooking the rice fields. All the -
- Abdurrahman (10/5): - The view, location away from Sapa city, pool, breakfast and dinner, and the lovely staff.

- Eduardo (10/5): Great guesthouse in Ta Van/Sapa! - Great guesthouse in Ta Van, close to Sapa. Place is chilled and well kept and clean. The hosts Chan and Sung are amazing and made the stay even better. Just wonderful and highly recommended!

- Violaine (10/5): Exceptionnel !
- SARAH (7/5): Overall, the property is very rustic and the surrounding speaks for itself. The house and home owner were really friendl - This property location is absolutely stunning. The beautiful nature and surrounding is so majestic. The property is not close to the central and in bad weather and holiday season it can be a little bit tricky to get transport so keep that in mind. The shared bathroom definitely needs an upgrade.
- Elisa (10/5): - It was very luxurious and perfect location. Also Cha and her husband were really helpful and friendly!

- Edwyn (10/5): Great family homestay - The family were so friendly and fun, made you feel very welcome. The food was delicious and property had an amazing view.

- Katherine (10/5): Truly incredible authentic homestay with local H'Mong family. The highlight of my Vietnam holiday! - If you are looking for a truly authentic homestay experience then Chan & Sung lovely wooden home is the place for you. They are local H’Mong people & Chan grew up in Ta Van village. Sung is from a nearby village. They live in the ground floor of the main building with their three children.
Their simple but beautifully located homestay has a gorgeous infinity swimming pool and terrace overlooking the valley and rice terraces including their own ones. It faces the sunrise. There are generous balconies to the spacious rooms as well as indoor seating and dining spaces if the weather is not so good.
Chan offers delicious home cooked meals including an excellent family meal. The value is extraordinary. Options for conservative eaters are available and there is an honesty bar for water, soft drinks & beer. You can keep your own items in the communal fridge. Breakfast consists of the usual eggs, pancakes & pho options freshly prepared with fruit & coffee. The kids help serve and I noticed Chan ate her own meal with a young woman who was travelling alone. They prepare smoothies and juices to order and "happy water" is also available.
You can (& should) book a hike with them. We went on the ‘easy’ hike with Chan which was reasonably strenuous in small parts for this group of 60 somethings but very enjoyable. A younger fitter group had left earlier with Sung to go higher and farther. The insights, humour and true storytelling of our morning with Chan were a highlight of the 3 week trip to Vietnam.
Chan speaks excellent English and is warm, funny and helpful. Sung's English is good also and their kids are involved in helping serve food and chores around the homestay. We played simple games with them after our hike and messed about in the pool as it was a Saturday and they were off school.
This was the Vietnam experience I was looking for. Caveats are to set your expectations accordingly. This is a simple homestay. There is no aircon (for us nights even in a steamy April 2026) were cool enough to sleep comfortably and I read from other guest that they offer electric blankets in cooler seasons. The shared facility rooms are spacious but very simple and the beds are very firm. We slept on top of our quilts for a bit of extra softness. The shared toilet and shower cubicles are simple but clean. The bungalows with ensuite bathrooms are more luxurious with softer beds and more furnishings but still simple. They work well for families also.
The homestay is off the road up a short path (about 8 mins uphill) which is moped accessible. Sung will come and collect your luggage if you call from the drop off point at the bottom of the path. The stairs to the upper floor are a little steep but there are good handrails on either side.
You are a short walk from Ta Van village which has restaurants, bars, shops (including a pharmacy) and spas. It is well outside the madness of SaPa town.

We deden een tour do - Mooie uitzicht, rustige plek
- Katherine (8/5): Not as good as reviews stated. - Lovely outside area with small pool and views. There was no hot water unless they turned it on. There was no where to hang clothes. No bedside lights. The fan hanging from the wall fell off in the night nearly hitting my daughter. Very noisy people late at night.
- Karen (10/5): -
Niets
- Gemma (10/5): -
- Anne-Kathrin (10/5): Fabulous homestay in the rice paddies - Chan and her family were super lovely and accommodating. Chan's English is excellent, the rooms are comfortable and the food is delicious. Keep in mind this is a homestay though, so walls are a bit thinner and the hot water runs out a bit earlier but you get rewarded with an amazing location and incredible hospitality. Thank you very much for a fabulous stay, Chan!
- Erin (10/5): You won't regret it! - We had an incredible stay – the views over the pool are amazing, and our hosts were unforgettable! The hikes were led straight from the accommodation, and our hostess was the best tour guide!
- Sirine (1/5): Horrrible !!! - This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had while traveling.
From the moment I arrived, the host (Madame Vu) was extremely nonchalant and unwelcoming. It honestly felt like she did not care at all that I was a guest. There was no greeting, no warmth, no effort to make me feel comfortable. When you run a homestay, basic hospitality should be the minimum. Here, there was absolutely none.
I simply asked a question about spiders after noticing webs (which is understandable in nature). Instead of reassuring me or being kind, she immediately told me that if I didn’t like it, I could leave. No discussion, no attempt to help, just complete indifference.
When I decided not to stay because I felt uncomfortable and unsafe, the situation became even worse. There was zero professionalism and absolutely no assistance.
The homestay is located about 5 minutes away from the main road, down a muddy path with no proper lighting. There were dogs roaming freely, and I clearly explained that I was scared and did not know the way. When I arrived, her husband helped with my luggage, but when I was leaving, he refused to accompany me back.
I explained that my driver was waiting, that I had no internet, and that I could be left stranded. Despite this, they refused to help and told me that since I hadn’t paid, they would not assist me.
I was forced to walk alone, in the dark, through mud, carrying heavy luggage, feeling completely unsafe and abandoned. When I reached the road, I had no signal, no way to contact my driver, and I genuinely thought I was stranded. I was so distressed that I started crying until a stranger finally helped me with internet access.
This experience was not only unprofessional, it was deeply upsetting and honestly traumatic. I will remember this for a very long time.
I strongly DO NOT recommend this place, especially if you are traveling alone. This is not hospitality. This is complete disregard for guests’ safety and well-being
- Nicola (10/5): Il vero vietnam - Famiglia davvero accogliente e ospitale.
Rien
- Ben.R (6/5): Nice place - The general atmosphere was good, we had trouble finding the place, there are no signs, we just walked around again and again until we realized that there was no road leading to the place and we had to walk. The owner of the property came with a motorbike and took our luggage for us. It was comforting. The food there is delicious. The selection is relatively limited. The room itself looks nice but not comfortable. The floor is very cold, the outside light makes it difficult to sleep because there are no blackout curtains, little things like a place to put your luggage or a towel rack. After a shower there is nowhere to put your towel. This is a comment I have seen repeated several times, it may seem small, but in reality it is very annoying there is no clean place to put it. We felt that this was a lovely couple who had set up a place but the maintenance had worn them down.
- Julien (10/5): -

- Ramirez (10/5): Home - My experience at Madame Homestay was absolutely unforgettable. What truly makes this place special is the incredible hospitality of the hosts—they welcome you with genuine warmth and make you feel like part of their home from the very first moment. It’s not just accommodation, it’s a human, close, and authentic experience that is hard to find elsewhere.
The homestay is surrounded by rice fields, creating a truly magical landscape. Waking up to that view is priceless: peace, nature, and a real connection with local life. It’s the perfect place to disconnect and experience something different, away from mass tourism.
The food is delicious, prepared with love and full of authentic local flavors that are absolutely worth it. To get there, you need to walk about 5 minutes, but honestly, that’s part of the beauty of the experience. That short walk through nature makes everything feel even more special and immersive.
This is not just a place to stay—it’s a place to truly experience local life. I would come back without hesitation and highly recommend it to anyone looking for something genuine, peaceful, and full of charm. ✨ Nothing
- Mariela (9/5): Amazing view and great hosts - Chan and her family are amazing hosts!
I did the trek with them and it was a great experience, the food you have cooked by them is really tasty and done at the moment.
The pool is a great highlight to the guesthouse but overall the view is incredible
- Karen (10/5): Good to not be in Sapa town - Friendliest host you’ll find Everything was great . It is basic but clean friendly and great food
- Shiang Jiun (8/5): - Very nice pool, good value of money. Staffs are super friendly. Sound proof is bad but guess they can’t help as it’s a traditional wooden house.
- Baptiste (10/5): - Everything was perfect thank you for everything i highly recommand this homestay 🙏
- MacKenzie (10/5): Responsive host, beautiful views, cozy stay! - Host was super responsive to all questions prior to arrival, arranged taxi to pick us up in Sapa, shared bathroom facilities are super clean, great views and the trekking arranged by the host was fantastic! Food options available at the homestay or great options a short walk away!
Goede prijskwaliteit. Een aanrader voor iedereen!
- Borash (10/5): Best stay in Sapa, can’t wait to come back - Best stay in Sapa
- Borders (9/5): Home away from home in a stunning location with a great family! - Beautiful quiet location with incredible views, the food and staff were amazing - would highly recommend the trek The only thing was the lack of hot water and lack info around WiFi (which is available)
- David (10/5): - Accueil super. Repas excellent et cadre incroyable Rien
- Borash (10/5): Best stay in the north of Vietnam 💯❤️ - This is the best home stay I’ve ever stayed in my life. The owner is unbelievable, kind, funny and really nice. Everyone who wants a truly authentic experience it’s a MUST.💯💯💯❤️ Loved everything ❤️
Rien

- Gray (10/5): We had a wonderful trekking experience with Sung. Food was great - The location close to Sapa town and it was on the rice terraces Wished we could have stayed longer
- Sarah (10/5): - One of my favourite places we stayed in Vietnam!! The room was big, had electric blankets as it was a cold time of year, and the staff were so helpful and friendly! Really good value for money and breakfast was included. Everything was good!
Jederzeit wieder. - Tolle Aussicht, sehr nette Gastfamilie. Essen war auch sehr lecker.
- Ines (10/5): Great experience - Views are amazing and the family is lovely, they help you with everything they can and you can book the trekking through the rice fields with them, which I highly recommend I had such a good experience and learned so much about their culture and traditions, I had a really good time staying with them It’s not that I didn’t like it but think it’s important to know that It’s half an hour away from Sa Pa so once you get there if you want to go to Sapa you’ll need taxi or grab, but there are restaurants nearby and you can have every meal at the accommodation
- matteo (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at this homestay and truly enjoyed every moment. The place was beautiful, comfortable, and very welcoming. The atmosphere was peaceful and the hospitality was exceptional.
A special thank you to Chan, who took us on a fantastic trekking experience. She was incredibly kind and thoughtful, and she shared so many interesting insights along the way about the area, the culture, and local life. It made the experience much more meaningful and memorable.
Overall, it was a lovely stay and we would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and warm experience in Vietnam.
- Francesco (10/5): Consigliato.

On recommande !
- Jacques (9/5): Authentic cultural experience, our host is now a friend! - My group of five booked a trek and 2 nights. I've booked hundreds of Airbnbs, and Chan and her husband were my favorite hosts! They accommodated all our special diet requests, made us laugh all the time, and were professional and caring. The rooms were basic, but amazing for the value! Great mattresses, quiet bedrooms, beautiful views. The food was healthy and awesome.
If you want an authentic cultural (and peaceful) experience, this is the spot for you. You'll get to meet the hosts and their children. We highly recommend doing a trek with Chan too. She taught us so much about life! Chan adjusted the distance of the treks to our physical ability levels! She was so accommodating!
I will be returning with a larger group to this homestay and booking another private trek with Chan, for sure! Hopefully she can come visit my group in Canada eventually! Water pressure could be higher, but showers are clean! Rooms are cool at night, but they have heated mattresses!
- Nina (10/5): - Don't hesitate, go there if you want to visit Sapa. The family who owns the place is incredible, the place is Beautiful and clean, and the Trek they organize for us was perfect !
Comsigliatissimo Niente
