Guest Reviews

- Jeremy (10/5): Great staff, good breakfast, fun location in the Medina. - Extremely friendly and helpful staff (Hassan and Said) that not only welcomed us warmly with tea and maps with potential places to see, but also helped us sort out getting to and from the airport and the train station. They also offered to help with many other things like trips, dinners, etc.
Breakfast was great, and it was very clean with good overall vibes. Not much to complain about!
- Federica (9/5): - Struttura pulita, comoda e accogliente. Staff gentile e disponibile. Buona colazione.
- Ivana (10/5): Top 😍 - strongly recommend this hotel. great deco, great service, a wonderful breakfast, great location. the hotel owner gave us the most tasty mint tea. i fall in love with this riad at the first sight 😊
- Miguel (9/5): Excelente trato - Hospitalidad proximidad atencion y las excursiones contratadas Nada

- Mignonb (9/5): I'd stay again - Spotlessly clean, super friendly staff The breakfast was good, but the coffee was awful, and occasionally we got day old pastries. Improve these and I would give them 10 out of 10.
- Nizam (3/5): - Very difficult to find it, wrong location in Google maps, No cars will reach
- Visnakovs (9/5): Calm and friendly place - Very friendly staff. Imrane keep going this way. Big bathroom. Breakfast could be more healthy :)
- Julia (8/5): - The first day we arrived and they told us that there was a problem with the water and had to move to another Riad for one night. I suspect that it was nothing to do with the water, but that they were over booked. This actually helped us get our bearings, although was a rather chaotic start.
Be aware that the Riad is not called Ma Bandra Spa, it is in fact called Riad Iklil, although there is no external signage to say either of these names. Be aware it can be a bit tricky to find and navigate through the alleyways at the beginning, and the taxi drops you about a 5 minute walk away. It's only a short walk from the Riad to good restaurants and taxis.
The staff are brilliant, and give a great introduction when you arrive on things to do, where to go and advice on how to handle yourself. Tariq and Imran were always on hand and very warm and welcoming. The place is very clean and well maintained.
- Irache (10/5): Really nice people - Moises He was super hospitable, always helping you with everything. He was a very good person. The poor guy barely slept because he was serving the Riad's clients at any time. He was super attentive and the experience was very good. I am very happy to have come here. To be honest I had a great experience in the riad you’ll definitely live morroco in depth
- Reno (10/5): Exceptional - The welcoming receptionist was super super helpful and nice. They even explain to you the map of the medina when they're checking you in. They alse welcome you with some (very delicious) tea and biscuits. Then they show you around the riad and they get you to your room. Which just smells beautiful and is super clean too! The riad is super quiet and the vibe is so soothing. It's a very good place to go home to and relax after a long day in the busy streets of Medina. The breakfast was very good too and the terrace is super cosy and well kept, i suggest to do excursions with Riad, we had very wonderful expérience with them 😍
- Joyce (10/5): It was all we imagined and more! - The host of Riad Iklil was wonderful, along with all the staff. They treated us like family. The host arranged tours for us, walked us to the transport point, and made sure we had all we needed. We had breakfast and dinner there every night, the food was excellent, and made with love. We met some lovely folks during our stay, and I would recommend you to stay here if you want to have a "home away from home". A very BIG THANKS to Mohsine and all the wonderful staff that run the place! Would definitely stay here again, it would be our first choice. Just needed brighter lamps in the rooms.
- Christina (7/5): Good -
- Jaroslav (10/5): Excellent customer service, fantastic food, live like locals experience - All was clean and very nice. Room was spacious and also was bathroom -
- Stanislas (10/5): Incredible staff in a great location. - The two guys (Anas and another whose name I can’t remember) working the reception were incredibly nice and helpful, showing us around way beyond the local area, giving us recommendations and tips ans being overall awesome. The rest of the staff were also beyond nice and helpful! A true gem. It is located in the old town and surrounded by great spots and restaurants. Nothing to say
- Michele (10/5): Good Hospitality. Clean. Kind staff. - Mohassin, the guy who took care of us was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and lovely. Not easy to reach the first time.
- Manuel (10/5): Comfort and excellence - Excelent experience, Mo the reception guy is extraordinary! Location can be a bit tricky, but if you first speak with Riad guys everything is going to be fine.
- Onyons (10/5): Brilliant - Host was amazing, showed up a map of the city and good spots to go. Provided us with a sim for our phones to work out there. Room was just what you need and breakfast was good.
- Dana (9/5): It’s a bit overpriced as riad has no facilities and rooms are very small but staff of this riad makes you feel very welc - Staff was so great, very helpful. Thanks a lot to Imran and Hasan, they were assisting us during whole stay, very friendly always smiling. Also housekeeping was very good, the room was cleaned daily. The location is good Room amenities very poor, not enough lighting, it’s a bit dark inside. Mattress was thin and a bit hard
- Di (6/5): Pleasant - We were two girls travellign marrakesh and the position was great, room very cute and big terrace to have breakfast. I think for the price they offer it's a bit too much tho, when we were coming back to the riad we would not get the keys (this happens in every riad/hostel) and many times we had to wait outside in a dark alley by ourselves which is a bit scary. Overall it was nice, the celaning service is impeccable and breakfast was yummy.
- Patricia (5/5): Accommodation was basic but clean. Staff were very friendly. - Price was reasonable, breakfast in the sunshine. Access - down several lanes ( not mentioned on the booking site) which was scary in the dark. Shower system - could not be used without removing the shower head which I couldn't even reach. Bed was lumpy. No robes, kettle, safe or iron as described on the booking website. Having to pay cash on arrival although it clearly says cards are accepted on the booking website. No gluten free option for breakfast although requested before arrival (was provided on the last morning). Restaurant non-existent as it is just the roof terrace and meal has to be ordered in advance. Swimming pool is just a plunge pool which was freezing so unusable.
- Amie (6/5): Friendly and helpful but isolated and limited - Hassan and Imran were brilliant hosts, they couldn’t do any more for you.
Always happy to chat (in their 3rd language!!). Breakfast was tasty and substantial- perfect fuel to explore Marrakech. The location was less than ideal for us. It was too far down the quiet alley, and although nobody bothered us it was enough to make us feel nervous and avoid coming back late at night which is a shame. There’s nothing really close by so you have no option but to venture out every evening for food and entertainment. You also don’t get a key to the front door (not sure if this is normal in Riads) so you have to wait to be let in - usually not long but not ideal if you’re not 100% comfortable in the alleyways of the medina.
They serve food and drink in the Riad but there is no menu so you don’t know what is on offer but I think it was quite limited.
At night the Riad is perfectly peaceful but the Riad itself is kind of echoey so you can hear conversations people have outside their rooms and the sound of scraping chairs on the (lovely) terrace is not the nicest alarm when you’re on holiday.
The pool is misleadingly small and literally in the foyer of the Riad so not conducive to a chill afternoon by the pool.
- Paul (9/5): Nice Riad location near to Souks beware motorbikes they are everywhere - Stayed in Riad it was clean and had dipping pool good size room and roof terrace with shaded areas Location is down narrow streets locals are always loitering than can be concerning but we had no trouble whatsoever
- Iwona (4/5): Did not meet expectations but staff work hard and very friendly/helpful - Location was fine. Breakfast not great Coffee, bread.
- Ed (10/5): The staff and owner could not have been more helpful. -
- Nina (9/5): Superb - It was very very clean and the rooms although small very aesthetic. The Riad was calm and very central.
The staff was extraordinary nice and friendly. The information Booking.com said that the Riad is going to remove the money from my bank account. We spent the night there and in the morning they told me that they don’t charge my account and I have to pay cash or by card. We didn’t have any cash with us anymore so I was forced to pay by card which cost 6% more. We weren’t informed about that in advance and left confused.
- Susan (10/5): Attentive staff. Good communication for booking, airport transfer and food. - The room was perfectly set up for us. Dinner was served hot and fresh at 2:00am. We flew in from USA. Leaving!! Haha
- Martin (8/5): Very good -
- Kate (8/5): Great experience of traditional Riad. Staff were brilliant, very helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. - Very clean and well maintained property with a very authentic feel. No safe in room
- Unyoung (8/5): Very good - Friendly and helpful staff. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. Spacious and clean room.
- Higino (9/5): Superb - The Riad Iklil was amazing. I want to thank Anas, the employee all the time available to help. Clean, calm, well located and the food was really good. we had dinner the day we arrived. Nothing I didn't like.
- Onos (7/5): Good -
- Mitchell (9/5): Superb -
- Sabrina (9/5): Very very good! - Very nice and friendly staff, gave good recommendations and we felt very comfortable to ask questions. Cute little hotel with a nice terrace on the roof. Breakfast was very good! The mattress and pillows were a bit uncomfortable and there was no door to the toilet
- Oxana (8/5): Very good -
- Mel (8/5): Very good - Staff were lovely The noise from the other guests on terrace
- James (5/5): The owners are a bit pushy for your cash, apart from that it was great. - It was in the heart of Marrakesh N/A
- Peter (10/5): Great staff, amazing location, good value. - The breakfast is Moroccan, and good. Having it on the rooftop terrace is great! Nice opportunity to meet other guests and chat with staff. I can see how the casbah might be intimidating -- I can't imagine it in the U.S. without being dangerous; but here it just DOESN'T feel that way. Except for the motorbikes in the narrow alleys ... just keep situational awareness. If you get lost in the Casbah, no sweat - just ask anyone, inquiringly, "Sidi bin Sliman?" and they will helpfully point you in the right direction. Don't accept the many offers to guide you - or if you do, accept that no matter what you may hear initially, they will expect a tip.
This is not a fact about Riad Iklil, just about the Casbah.
- Mike (7/5): Good -
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - It had a real homely feel to it
- Ruth (9/5): Superb -
- Ricky (8/5): Our stay at the Riad was great when they open the front door it has the wow factor - The food was very excellent, the staff were exceptional. They always went the extra mile to help whether it be organising cabs or escorting you around places. The Riad was quite difficult to find as it is situated in a side street luckily the owner met us from the taxi.
- Olaide (9/5): Superb - It felt homely and the staff were amazing. Nothing
- Jocelyn (10/5): love this place! - not a 5 star hotel but we experienced a 5 star treatment. indeed superb.
service was the best. we were super troublesome hotel guests but we didn't feel like it at all because they were so nice about it. we reached at 11pm because of the delay in our Sahara desert tour but were received warmly. we were hungry, and wanted to order delivery. the receptionist (hamza) gladly let us use his number to order it instead - and was so nice to collect it for us and deal with the deliveryman since we didn't understand Arab. Hamza also helped us print our boarding passes. and guess what? they also clean the room every single day! (thats so unexpected!!!) they also borrowed us 10 EUR when we were out of cash!
when we first came, we were pestered by the locals to give them cash for a 5 seconds direction (please beware of them and not accept their directions if you are reaching the hotel at night since they tend to loiter around there). we were quite scared afterwards and Mariam offered to ask hamza to pick us up everytime we go out at night. superb! and she replies so fast - I am so wowed.
it's located in the heart of the medina! though it seems like it's in the alleyways, that's how all riads in Marrakech work!
the room was super clean and the toilet was HUGE. Hot water was abundant - which was something we didn't get in our 2 other riads.
love this place. highly recommend. felt like I got more than what I paid.
(P.S. if the next day you feel like your items went missing, no they aren't. The service staff were just so cute to put it inside the wardrobe and drawers for you to prevent it from being dirty! So just check there!)
Love this place. :) not the riad's fault of course, but there are some locals loitering outside, waiting for you to fall into their trap and get money out of you! that's something to be careful of!
- Claire (10/5): Cute and clean and helpful staff - The staff were so helpful, friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to try and cater to our needs and questions. They made sure we were comfortable and happy. The rooms are so cute, nice large bathroom and good shower. The breakfast was so good and very big! The bed was perhaps slightly hard. But the other positives outweigh this
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diete (9/5): We had a really great stay in a beautifull riad with great staff! - First of all the location of the Riad is pretty good. It's not easy to find it, but therefore it is in a calm neighborhood and you can't hear any noise from the streets. It is a beautiful place, very neat, and we enjoyed the rooftop the most as it is so cozy and pretty! The breakfast was also really nice, and sometimes we had an early activity planned but the staff was so nice to make sure we could have breakfast earlier. The staff was always really helpfull, but we like to thank Hamza who was very nice. He answered our questions, he showed us the way to the riad and the atm, he brought us to the taxi AND he makes the best tea!! Everything was great, the only comments I have are the beds. I woke up every day with a stiff and sore body because the mattress was very hard.
- Erik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (9/5): Quirky with lovely staff - The staff were wonderful, very helpful, kind, friendly and professional. The rooftop restaurant was very picturesque, no views, but lovely. The courtyard was charming. The location, it was close to everything in the media, however the approach was quite daunting at first, through the dusty back alleys and tunnels, however we got used to it and found our way around, so don't let it put you off. The plunge pool is not a swimming pool as expected and was extremely cold but very pretty.
- Tina (9/5): Friendly warm understanding - The staff were amazing,Miriam and her team could not do enough to help you navigate your Marrakesh experience. In Marrakesh you need guidance and they were always there to assist you along the way. Breakfast was superb and set you up for the day. Even if you had an early start the staff would be up and prepare some food the escort you to to the meeting point for your day trip. The staff made the difference between a good and excellent holiday. Well done.
- Overall (9/5): Modern cozy riad - Clean well maintained riad with a spa size pool. Staff were very friendly and willing to help. Modern decor, so presents as much a hotel as a traditional riad in Marrakech. Breakfasts are quite good and the one dinner we got was exceptional. Still one of the best meals we got in Morocco. Terrace is very comfy and secluded, no view. Overall safe, hospitable, clean. Staff were very willing to help, but things fell thru the cracks a few times; train station pick up, pre-arranged early breakfast (to accommodate tour that day). Riad is down a lengthy, kind of stinky, dead end alley, but it seems most riads are.
- Chicas (10/5): Amazing Marrakesh experience - The property is very cozy, very clean and it feels like you are living the real Marrakesh experience We love the terrace but also all the place itself is wonderful very clean and open to see the stars in the evening
- Margaret (8/5): Overall, a very welcoming place, friendly hosts where no request was too much, would stay again! - The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much, they helped by sourcing a charger for our phones as ours did not work with the adaptor, booked an evening meal and arranged our transportation.
We were made to feel very welcome and to treat our property as our home, and it was a home from home.
The food at the Riad was exceptional and the friendly atmosphere certainly left a positive impact. Would certainly stay here again. Was a little suprised by the lack of privacy between the bedroom and the bathroom, which can leave you a little more familiar with your travelling partner than would have liked, however with a little negotiation this did not have a huge impact on the overall experience.
I was slightly disappointed that we were unable to get refreshments or anything to eat while waiting to leave for the airport. We did not want to risk getting lost in the Medina and then missing our flights, so decided not to venture out on the last day, but assumed that we could get refreshments and food at the Riad, If we had known, then we would have pre-arranged, but was not aware, and was a last minute decision.
- Duga (10/5): Exceptional - Everything ! Nothing..
- Thiago (10/5): Exceptional - Great hosting. quick check in, comfortable, clean room, helpful, charismatic staff, tasty breakfast, punctual transfer. I would definitely stay again
- Courtney (10/5): My stay was fun, relaxed, quiet and pleasant. I absolutely enjoyed Riad Iklil an its staff. - The food was excellent, workers were friendly and always offered help willingly. Manager is a very accommodating and helpful person. The location is homely and safe. It felt like a home away from my home. Very nicely selected furniture, huge shower area, nice windows and overall pleasant and safe. I particularly enjoyed sitting in the lobby and on the roof. I had no problems.
- Safiya (9/5): Anas hospitality made the trip. - Anas made my whole trip. His friendly personality and great energy made my whole stay enjoyable. His ability to go above and beyond was incredible. His tips and advances made Morocco easy to navigate. I would return to this riat only for Anas's hospitality. Thank you again Anas, I really enjoyed my time in Marrakesh. I didn't like the walk to and from the Raid. I wish someone would have told us about it. Google Maps didn't work well. When the taxi drops you off you have to walk about 5-10 mins (depends on how fast you walk) to get to your riad. I didnt feel safe at first because we were not given a heads up about this. The walk felt like you were walking throgh a alley way but Marrakesh version.I got use to the walk but I didnt enjoy that part at all. It also made the city center a little more farther than I plan on being for my trip.I Enjoy stay inside the city and being in a 1-3 mins walking distance from everything. With this I was about 7 min walk from a few shops then about 5 min taxi from everything. Again google maps did not help.
- Cristophe (10/5): Perfect place to stay 👍 - The Riad was amazing! We had breakfast every morning on the rooftop with a beautiful view over the city. And the staff was sooo helpful and always asking if everything was alright or how our days have been. Can recommend the place for 100% 😍😍😍
- Natasha (10/5): Great stay :) - Communication and help from host we're amazing, food felt like mum was cooking for her family, and the staff (Hamza) was so helpful
- Doug (10/5): Stunning Moroccan style in the heart of the Medina. - The riad is super beautiful and comfortable. the terrace is perfect to enjoy breakfast or even a romantic dinner (the food is made by a great chef). The room was big and beautifully decorated. The staff was the highlight of the stay. Everyone is willing to help you to make your stay memorable. We did the hammam and it was also a great experience. I completely recommend this riad, you won't regret it, I advice you to book the airport transfer with Riad.
- Valls (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the riad. It was very clean and beautiful. The dinners and breakfasts on the terrace were delicious and the service was very friendly; they made us feel at home. We would recommend it and would go back again.
- Nancy (10/5): I hope I can return & stay much longer. - Gracious staff. I was made to feel at home. To step into Iklil Riad offers stepping out of busy ally ways into an oasis. I want to thank them for their kindness. I can not think of anything. We Americans tend to like our coffee at the beginning of breakfast, but travel asks that we step away from our habits.
- Philippe (10/5): Very hospitable & helpful staff, highly recommendable! -
- Jonas (9/5): Amazing stay, greatly recommend it - My girlfriend and i had the best stay imaginable. The staff are very friendly and hospitable, and they helped us get the absolute best out of our stay. The service is top class, and it is impossible to not feel in good hands when staying at Riad Iklil.
Riad Iklil truly lets you experience the traditional Morocco, everything from the delicious breakfast to the Moroccan furniture and design. The place is still very much for tourist though, as the staff is fluent in English, and it is possible to book exciting excursions through the Riad. It is a great place to experience what the traditional Morocco feels, looks and tastes like.
The Riad is located in the old city, which gives it a unique atmosphere. In the narrow streets it was a little difficult to navigate(if you don’t have free data), but luckily the staff of the Riad was prepared to walk us the 5 minutes to a public road, where we could get a taxi. Furthermore, the Riad offered great support when going to/from the airport (we highly recommend buying this option). It must be added that even though we got lost in the narrow streets one night, the locals were very kind and helpful, and insisted on walking us to the riad and they then refused to receive a payment. It is simply a wonderful city, which must be experienced from this riad.
- Beth (10/5): Beautiful, clean and wonderful management - This Riad and my room were beautiful and set in a excellent location to walk into the bustle of the Medina. But most importantly I have to express how wonderful Mariam the manager was. She went above and beyond during my very short stay, and even came in to guide me to the bus station when she wasn’t yet starting work (and I stupidly misread her message and set off without her thereby wasting her time 😩) Anas also made me an early breakfast which I am very grateful for.
Thank you again.
I am so sorry I wasted your time in the morning Mariam. I will remember your kindness.

- Clare (9/5): Great location, lovely helpful staff, good value - Lovely helpful and friendly staff, quiet terrace, lovely room There was a problem with other guests during the night on two occasions talking loudly outside our room
- Sarah (9/5): A superb Riad - The staff were utterly charming and nothing could be too much trouble. Service with a smile. Our room/ bathroom was spotlessly clean. Breakfast full of local honey, nut butters and breads. Something different every day . The local neighbourhood was safe and friendly . A great find tucked away in the atmospheric maze of Marrakech . The soft bar drinks over priced but hopefully the staff can have a little extra! They deserve it .
- Costanza (10/5): Great experience! - Warm welcoming and amazing break
- Eloy (10/5): Lovely stay, would definetly reccomend others to come here. - Everything was perfect! Service was great, breakfast was great. We got help when we needed. The bed was comfortable, air conditioner was working well, cleaning service was great. The tiny pool was also very goid and with changing lights. We felt safe all the time. The internet was a little bad in the bedroom
- Keith (8/5): The riad is very lovely, and the staff was super helpful and accommodating. They were wonderful. - The staff, location and breakfast. The bathroom.
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful, immaculately clean Riad with a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
Kind and helpful staff who made it a holiday to remember for all the right reasons.
- Joanne (9/5): Tranquil and beautifully decorated riad, nestled away from the main areas. Great - The tranquility of the riad, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the souks. The riad was spotlessly clean, looked quite new, everything freshly painted, bed was comfy, the air conditioning was great, the shower was good. The plunge pool was refreshing after a busy day walking around. The breakfast was slightly different every day, different types of pancakes/breakfast breads , with jam, nut butter, honey, butter, olives and cheese and always plenty of bread, fresh juice and tea or coffee. You can order other meals which are good value and very tasty. We got a bit lost getting to the riad when we first arrived, but after you had been once you could find your way back.
- Emiola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ammon (9/5): Great place to stay! - Travelling from Canada. Room was clean. Pool was nice. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Room had good AC. Would recommend this place and would stay here again!
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (10/5): A gem in the centre of Marrakesh - We stayed at Riad Iklil just before the earthquake, and again 2 days afterwards. Thankfully the building was unaffected and we received a really warm welcome.
The rooms are comfortable and there is a lovely patio with plunge pool, and a rooftop terrace for relaxing, taking tea or having meals. The wifi works well.
Mariam was wonderful, and did everything she could to make our stay perfect, as did Ayoub and Sulemon.
We would definitely recommend Riad Ilkil, and would love to return.
