Guest Reviews
- Jane (8/5): Handy location for visiting the area. Great place to stay with lots of information provided. -
- Charles (10/5): -
- harrison (9/5): - A lovely cosy cottage, nice walks for the dog, loved the log fire. Convient location, everything we needed, a lovely large bath. Got a little chilly, without the log fire, could only use Internet in lounge, signal poor.
- Jillian (9/5): We stayed there because we were attending a WEDDING. - We didn’t have breakfast It was a bit cold as we couldn’t work out the heating. We weren’t in much as met up with our family.
- Caroline (9/5): Excellent - Cottage super cozy and beautiful.
Warm and inviting.
Location walking distance to town
Logs available to light fire on cold evening. Only criticism was that bath had not been cleaned. Green around plug hole and hairs in bath. Aware this was mentioned in previous reviews and obviously not addressed.
- Vicky (10/5): Beautiful Garden Cottage - We loved the cottage and the history behind it is fantastic. The area is beautiful and scenic I loved looking at all the old books on the shelves outside the bedroom door and in the second bedroom. The scenery out of the windows is lovely and we could see the sunset. We were very close to the town that had plenty of great little shops and takeaways. We would love to return again to stay in the same cottage if our health issues don't get any worse There is nothing we didn't like but, we are both oldies and have disabilities and found the staircase a bit daunting, but managed ok.
- Catherine (10/5): Gorgeous traditional cottage in mid Wales - My grown-up daughter and I came with our little dog. We absolutely loved the feel of the property, the space, the lovely old wooden furniture upstairs, the garden and woods behind. Both the bedrooms are very spacious. It’s a really good location for Cenarth Falls, Aberporth, Aberaeron etc. We had a really happy few hours looking round the town itself as well, and did the castle walk and the riverside walk, ate in Harrison’s riverside brasserie, went to the plant stall / little garden centre, and had a really good look around all the charity shops. The night skies are incredible, you can see the stars so clearly. We found the property very quiet and loved the views from the garden over the hills, with the ancient oak tree in the garden. The property is exceptionally well equipped we thought, with a hand soap provided at every sink, silver foil, and even doggy bowls under the sink in the kitchen. The bed linen is fantastic quality and the beds are very comfortable, we both slept very well. My daughter enjoyed having a sink in her bedroom (the twin room). Really cute little mini garden room at the back with a couple of chairs and a table. There’s also a garden table and four chairs - I had a lovely cup of tea and read of my book in the garden relaxing for a couple of hours one afternoon while my daughter and dog had a couple of hours of Siesta. I would say if you appreciate a 150 year-old cottage with character, you will love this place. There are some things to watch out for with the property. The stairs to the first floor are quite bit tricky with a couple of bins and some quite narrow steps almost triangular, and the outside front and back has some drops, so I would say the property is unsuitable for children or the elderly/infirm. We initially found the parking a bit difficult but got used to it. Take care reversing onto the main road. Some minor maintenance issues - the tap in the kitchen was dripping, there is dripping coming from a drain pipe at the back of the house, the bath could have done with a clean which was surprising as the rest of the property was spotless.
- Natalie (10/5): Stunning cottage with a spectacular garden - The garden is surrounded by woods creating a perfectly private space within nature. We loved it, our child loved it and our dog loved it! In the evenings we listened to the crows nesting in the trees and settling down for the night.
A lovely porch at the back of the property was ideal for drying towels after a beach trip and storing footballs etc. The weather was beautiful when we visited, but I imagine on a stormy day the porch would be a lovely spot to drink tea and watch the weather.
A very short walk into town to explore the castle and river, several places to eat, take aways, a co-op and some lovely little shops.
A perfect base for visiting New Quay, Cenarth and other nearby beaches and towns.
The large double bed was comfortable and big enough to fit the whole family.
The cottage is equipped with everything you could need and there was even fresh milk tea coffee sugar and some lovely Welsh cakes on our arrival. It's spacious and provided plenty of space for our family of 3 and a dog.
We will definitely be back to stay in this cottage again! The front door opens right next to the road, which I thought might be a concern with a child and a dog, but the back entrance is easy to access and use so actually this was not a problem at all so don't let it put you off!
The front door also had bolts on the inside, which we didn't need to use but if you have an escape artist or sleepwalker in your family this would be reassuring!
The stairs are uneven, again this didn't cause us any issues and kind of added to the charm of the place, but may be difficult for someone with limited mobility.
- jon (6/5): The property was clean, well equipped and pleasant but spoilt by being on the edge of a busy road - The house is on the side of a busy road. The windows in the bedrooms are not very sound proof so take earplugs if you are a light sleeper
- Hilary (8/5): Cosy cottage - Open ,spacious, great views, comfortable beds, really appreciated the heating coming in in the morning (Wales wet and cold)
Good location for Newcastle Emlyn. Cottage on steep hill, a challenge on bicycles!
- Fee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (8/5): Comfortable, plenty of room, nearby the town. -
- Vicki (10/5): My daughter and I stayed to visit family a home from home experience - Beautifully situated on a hill over looking Newcastle Emlyn to the side and a garden full of forest - nice quiet and relaxing with all amenities in house - Amazing Nothing
- Jayne (8/5): Lovely, comfort space to get away - The location being walking distance to the town centre and the back garden was more than enough for our little furbaby. The WiFi didn't quite reach the living space for streaming video services but we worked around this by tethering our phones.
- Dean (10/5): Can’t wait to go back - The cottage is beautiful very cosy and clean highly recommended Nothing
- Craig (5/5): Passable - The property is well located, seconds away from the town. The shower was powerful and warm. The property feels very basic with no sense of luxury or comfort. It feels quite empty and not very homely. The stairs is pretty dangerous to negotiate with uneven steps - I’m not sure it would meet modern safety standards. As a regular traveller, I didn’t this this cottage very good value for money.
- Tracey (7/5): Garden Cottage - The cottage is very old but comfortable and has all that you need. The stairs are very steep and could be difficult for someone with mobility problems. This was not mentioned in the booking.com description.
- Jeannie (8/5): Lovely stay. Would certainly return. - Very cosy and comfortable cottage. Nice open fire and plenty of space for coats, boots etc. Lovely big bed and nice bathroom with large bath. Close to town which is very useful. Good off road parking. We managed o.k. but the stairs can be a bit tricky if you have knee problems, big feet or both, The treads get quite narrow as the stairs twist round.
- Lynn (10/5): Exceptional - Tge cottage is just beautiful. In a good location. Nothing
- Anna (10/5): Amazing family time with great food at local restaurants - Great place to stay. We had an amazing time. The town is very nice with a lot of places to eat tasty food. Good distance to local beaches.
- Julie (10/5): Quality Country Cottage - Lovely country cottage, great location, very relaxing, and very clean. We would definitely come back again. Worth every penny.
