Guest Reviews
- Arnold (8/5): Beautiful venue and delicious food and drinks - Lovely location and very friendly access. The charger and WiFi Cellular connection was tricky to navigate and ensure the car was charging.
- Lucy (6/5): -
- David (8/5): -
- John (9/5): A very nice hotel with good food , the swimming pool and sauna were a nice feature - A well presented hotel , exceptionally clean the room was large and bed very comfortable The steam room wasn’t working
- Jonathan (7/5): -
- Emma (8/5): Lovely staff, beautiful food in a nice trendy setting. - Brilliant cocktails and amazing staff, nice bar area with lovely atmosphere.
Lovely breakfast, with a great selection. The pool was nice but nowhere to sit once you came out of the pool. It would be nice to sit on a lounger and relax by the pool for some of the allotted time we had there.
- Charmain (10/5): -
- Hilary (7/5): Nice but stupid prices - Lovely decor. Staff v friendly. Over priced for what it was. No info to say you have to book a time in the pool. We managed to “book” our time at 8.30 instead a sat night, ridiculous!
If you’d booked it due to the spa and pool facilities only to realise you didn’t get a slot, you’d be cross. V expensive.
- Victoria (9/5): A relaxing few days and would definitely return. - Beautiful setting and decor, with a lovely outdoor space to relax in the sun. Very handy for visiting North Norfolk and all the staff were friendly. Breakfast was delicious with the hot food cooked to order. Unfortunately the pool was not available during our stay as the spa complex looked as if it would have been good and added to the stay.
- Michael (9/5): -
- Rachael (10/5): -
- ro (8/5): Quiet, relaxed and cosy! - Staff were amazing and very helpful. Lovely and cosy! Food and wine were delicious too! The pool was freezing!! So didn’t stay in for long which was such a shame as it was an expensive treat for me and the spa was the main attraction but I got out of pool straight away. Also towel rail
Wasn’t on in bathroom but not a deal breaker!
- Clare (8/5): We’ve stated before and think some very small changes could really lift the hotel - Location is beautiful and very quiet. Great access to the coast. Fpod was amazing Cheap and thin napkins at breakfast. Surface around the sink in the bathroom very worn and shower door far too small
- Tom (10/5): Great place for a family holiday - Great restaurant game room and spa Nothing
- Luke (8/5): -
- June (8/5): - For breakfast a lovely assortment of fresh fruits and plenty of choice for cooked food.Croissants & various breads.Absolutely delicious jams!
Attractive decor & furnishings.Pleasant staff.
Nice indoor pool.Spacious bedroom, well appointed and comfortable. Tasty freshly baked cookies in bedroom.Drinks in fridge and a bag of crisps! The portions of food at dinner were very small!
Works of art in appearance and very flavourful but bigger portions please! More vegetable choices with mains would have been appreciated.
The final bill! We knew it was expensive when we booked.Enjoyed our stay but think it's a bit overpriced on the whole.
- Eleanor (6/5): -
- Naomi (10/5): -
- Glen (10/5): Wonderful Hotel - Wonderful stay for our wedding anniversary. Staff friendly and attentive, lovely room, nice little extras. Robes so soft and comfy! Food was amazing.
- Colin (10/5): - Lovely hotel and excellent parking. Food options were very good and could be taken in various areas (bar, restaurant or room)
Staff all very friendly and we really liked the pool which could be reserved for exclusive use.
Will be back
- Jean (6/5): Pleasant - Kind friendly reception and bar staff, great location, lovely courtyard, quiet overall.
Thought had gone into design and the village is charming. Slow, inconsistent breakfast service. Coffee took ages for enough for 2 people and any refill on day one. Both days staff too slow to take main order.
Day 2 identical order to that I gave on Day.1, but when it came out was quite different! Ie 1 poached egg not 2 and no toast underneath. Not important from an eating point of view, but symptomatic of kitchen.
Then today a male came out of the kitchen at the end of our meal, trying to serve another cooked breakfast! We declined but wondered about organisation and staffing.
Dinner on Day 1 was nice but to claim no cod portions were left, at 19.45 on a very small choice menu of that limited scale, was NOT good. The Menu needs to be a bit bigger given the price.
Given proximity to the sea also, the Menu should have had more fish in any case. Dinner needs a rethink.
Given price and guest age - profile is it really a good idea at breakfast to have repetitive Disco sound above guests at the volume we had? Staff might choose such but how many guests want to breakfast to that?
- Vanessa (6/5): - Cleanliness was good, but pool very cold and half an hour in pool not long enough especially if want to enjoy hot tub and steam room too. Menus had limited choice for both evening and lunch / snacks in bar area. Fish undercooked and not very hot on our evening mel. No bath or any toiletries available. Ice machine available but not working.
- David (10/5): - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel and spa were great. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
- Jane (10/5): - Beautiful small hotel with courtyard garden, spa & pool (which we didn’t make use of as the weather was stunning and we wanted to explore the area) the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful with booking taxis to local restaurants etc.
- Angela (10/5): - Staff very nice. Good decor, good breakfast, good location, comfortable.
- Alba (6/5): Expensive, other places are WAY better. - Good concept, execution needs a lot of work. - Overpriced for what you get
- VERY limited food options both at the bar and the Menu at Stanley, the "fine" dinner restaurant were not good enough. The breakfast was also okay but nothing else.
- The service at lunch/dinner/breakfast was slow. Waiting for breakfast +30 minutes to be served.
- The staff wasn’t very friendly or trying to help and make the stay nice.
- The spa can only be enjoyed once in a session of half an hour.
Overall, not worth the money, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and definitely wouldn’t go back.
- Dan (10/5): - Friendly staff, nothing was to much trouble they were very accommodating, lovely well kept hotel with plenty of character. We had the beef tenderloin in the restaurant and it was sublime, lots of nice lounging areas and a beautiful little courtyard area as well. We enjoyed the complimentary private use of the spa and opted to have back massages which was so relaxing.
Overall experience was 10/10
- Susan (9/5): Superb -
- Ivan (10/5): - Fantastic hotel with great rooms, facilities and incredible staff. Highly recommended.
- Brian (10/5): - In a quiet part of Norfolk but close to the coast, Holt and Blakeney. Very friendly and efficient staff and food very good
- Paula (10/5): Incredible 😁 - Everything and everyone was amazing. We will definitely return as this was one of the most nicest stays and we have gone to really nice places before but this is 5 ⭐️ Nothing
- Mark (10/5): 100/10 - Amazing place & staff. - This place is truly amazing.
From the minute we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. The hotel is beautifully appointed with some very eclectic touches of funriture and decoration.
The staff deliver superb service. They even made a big fuss of Dizzi our Staffy.
The food was amazing.
I'de definitely recommend the venison.
We will definitely be back and soon.
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful hotel, great spa facilities, breakfast was nice
- Jenny (10/5): The perfect blend of luxury and independence - Fabulous from start to finish, a truly unique from design and decor, to the scent they chose for their reed diffusers. Everything was just gorgeous. We highly recommend booking a spot in the leisure facilities, swimming pool, and sauna etc. Sadly the steam room was out of action, but the jacuzzi was fab. The spa treatments are not to be missed, robes and flip flops are provided in your room, plenty of big fluffy towels and lockers available in the changing rooms though. The food in Ivy's was delicious, as was breakfast the next morning.
Our only minor complaint is that the hotel and rooms are VERY hot, so if you run hot you will want your aircon on/ the windows open, but it's minor.
10/10 for the bed comfort though - great nights sleep, we'll be back!
- Maureen (9/5): Enjoyable but with current menu options probably won’t return - Beautiful building. Excellent facilities
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Was very difficult to find in the dark. There was no lighted sign.
Limited menu both evening meal and breakfast.
Although staff knowledgeable about gluten free options the choice on menu was extremely poor considering rest of hotel facilities.
- Derrick (9/5): Great location and hotel , would return . - Stylish rooms and friendly staff, nothing to much trouble. Full English Breakfast with a belly pork slice was unusual ! Would have preferred cured bacon . And a hand rail in the shower for safety .
- Elizabeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (10/5): - Stunning hotel and facilities with wonderful staff! Really enjoyed that you really don’t need to leave the hotel if you don’t want to, the den and snug great additions. Sauna/pool/hot tub and spa also lovely and enjoy that you can book these privately (although appreciate some people may want more than 30 mins a day). Food great and also very generous free drinks/snacks in the room!
Only negative was the wine dispenser out of action in the snug which was a shame but really not a criticism as that’s me being very picky as the hotel is such a high standard!! Will gladly come again!!
- Ivor (7/5): Good -
- Oliver (10/5): - Visited the Harper for my anniversary and found the whole experience very enjoyable.
The room was large and comfortable, the staff were friendly and accommodating & the amenities and cleansiness of the hotel were both of a high standard.
I would recommend if you are considering.
- Lee (4/5): - Very dissatisfied as booked to use spa facilities only to find we could only use by appointment
- Mrs Tessa Jane (10/5): Beautiful hotel - A lovely overnight stay with friend to celebrate a big birthday ….. great ambiance and excellent staff
- Rachael (10/5): Beautiful hotel with lovely staff - Gorgeous hotel in the perfect location for exploring the coastline
- Rodney (10/5): - We had a lovely night at the Harper. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The room was excellent and our evening meal fabulous. Overall it was well worth the money.
- Sharon (10/5): - Beautiful hotel, with amazing facilities definitely worth a visit
- Cheryl (10/5): Experience exceeded expectations because of such amazing staff working at the hotel. - The facilities and room were fantastic and the extras included in the room such a drinks and popcorn were amazing. The best part of the hotel was the staff. From reception staff, to housekeeping and dining room staff - all were exceptionally friendly, helpful and professional. It really made our stay extra special. Thank you. I would suggest staff have name badges - just a simple first name in clear lettering. It would really help to know - especially when wanting to thank staff for their amazing service.
- Tina (9/5): Superb -
- Thorbjorg (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bjorn (8/5): Very good - Great Hotel. Quiet location. A special mention to the front desk staff who were fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble for them! The only let down at this hotel was the breakfast. The cooked breakfast was very underwhelming.
- Katarzyna (8/5): Very good - Fabulous facilities with big rooms and a spa was added bonus! Very accommodating for the families and dogs. Very friendly staff and nothing was ever a problem. The food was ok but definitely too expensive for the quality and quantity. It would have been nice to have room hovering included in the daily dog fee as towards the end of our stay we felt like everything was covered in our dogs hair.
- Wesley (10/5): Exceptional -
- China (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robin (8/5): Very good -
- Hilary (8/5): Very pleasant stay - Service, staff attitude, cleanliness, comfort, decor Property was fine but the range of food on offer was too small. A wider range would have been much better.
- Jane (7/5): We mostly enjoyed our stay, and felt very welcomed on our arrival and all through our stay. Complim - I liked the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff.
The swimming/sauna was great .
The bedroom was clean, quiet and comfortable. The food was poor. When we arrived we ordered a soup and gf bread - it was a small portion of soup, but tasty. The gf bread was not good quality.
- Miranda (5/5): Was hoping I would be very well looked after for my 60th but sadly it was slightly disappointing…. - Good location and attractive hotel with some fun places to sit. Charming waitresses both at dinner and breakfast. The room was rather ordinary.
The dinner menu wasn’t inspiring and the actual food was underwhelming.
Poor communication re the Spa and pool which was a shame.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice but… - The hotel is in the beautiful setting and location wise it is great. Staff were friendly and the hotel was clean/modern.
My main criticism of the hotel is the fact that you have to book a swim session and you only get 30mins per day. That was a real disappointment . Being there with a young family, we would have appreciated the flexibility and freely available use of the pool.
One other point to note was that the plugs in the room were not placed thoughtfully. Only plugs on one side of one of the two beds, none near mirrors (useful for hair drying/styling).
It was a nice hotel but sadly I wasn’t blown away.
- Vanessa (8/5): Fabulous! - Everything 😁
Everyone who worked at the hotel were super friendly, very helpful, and always welcomed us with a smile 😁
Super clean bedroom and great decor throughout the hotel! Lovely pool and loved that you got 30 minutes to enjoy the pool to yourself! The only disappointment were the menu’s which were not to our taste apart from the fries which were perfection aswell as the desserts 😁 Oh and not forgetting the Amaretto sour cocktail 😉
- Monica (4/5): Not worth the price tag - The location Unable to use spa / pool facilities which required pre booking and we were not warned of this/ no communications.
Breakfast was slow and portions were very small
Rooms were basic
No where near standard would expect for a “boutique” hotel of this pricing
- Lila (2/5): - No
- Lesley (9/5): Perfect for a relaxing break with the dog - Very comfortable, casual, and easy for guests, including dogs! 5 star decor and good service, but relaxing and not over the top. The bathroom was a bit small, and the food was good, but the menu was limited.
- Anne (10/5): Relaxing stay - The rooms are very comfortable. We were grateful for the water and facilities in the room.
Having individual access to the spa area is a good idea. The treatment was excellent. All the staff were helpful. We would have liked more choice of food.
We visited in the week and unfortunately the pub was not serving food.
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (8/5): Enjoyed our stay beautiful place lovely pool just the breakfast let it down - The room staff and location were brilliant but the breakfast was ok but not great. Cold option minimal and the same every day. The full English was very small bacon over cooked and tiff every day and portions not constant some mornings two bacon then one. Toast missing on two mornings had to ask twice and food not very hot! The price of evening meal to expensive not enough cheaper options
- Joyce (10/5): Exceptional - Everything apart from choice of food at dinner.
No snacks at the bar Breakfast was very good. Dinner menu not varied enough
- Livsey (10/5): Not cheap but worth every penny - My only criticism would be that the sausage at breakfast was warm and not hot Only a hotter sausage otherwise it was perfect break
- Jamie (10/5): - Lovely hotel and great staff
- Allyson (9/5): Very nice stay. Lovely staff. Need more gluten free food options - Where is was situated
- David (8/5): Very good - only 30 mins for spa- not advised in advance. so late booking times . Staff were amazing and very helpful
- Denise (9/5): Comfortable, well designed and friendly - Location, spacious, interesting decor, lovely spa Restaurant service a little slow
- Sean (7/5): Good - The hotel is lovely Only got half hour in spa allocated never had this before wouldn’t go again because of this
- Samantha (5/5): Passable - The spa wasn't working. It's quite far from the sea. The room was lovely. The restaurant was quite expensive for what it was.
- Beata (10/5): Beautiful ; cosy; very clean boutique hotel in gorgeous location! - We liked almost everything : beautiful hotel; lovely interior design; very clean; beds very comfortable!! We loved the swimming pool & sauna & the system of booking the pool! Excellent idea! Garden was gorgeous too! Everyone working at the hotel ( especially John) was very polite; making guests feel at ease !!! The restaurant served very nice breakfast! However we were not too impressed by dinner menu. We ate twice; we ordered the same food twice ( fish) and both evenings food came as slightly different dishes. It was bizarre. .
- Olden (7/5): Nice hotel and lovely staff - Decor and comfortable bed
Breakfast was good Had to ask a couple of times for things that should have been standard just need to be a bit more attentive, especially for the price they charge
- Diane (10/5): - Loved everything about this unique property
Luxurious with a great vibe
friendly but still professional team
Great food for dinner & great quality breakfast
dog friendly meant we could have our two miniature schnauzers with us
We were sorry to leave !
- Donna (7/5): Fabulous hotel but downside was food and service slow - Spa service amazing, lady really good
Hotel is decorated beautifully Food wasn’t great. Would expect better quality for the price of a nights stay
Bacon very crispy at breakfast, scrambled egg over cooked
Service a bit slow.
- E (8/5): Comfy, friendly and clean. A little over priced perhaps. - Food and staff were great. For a newish hotel it already looks rough around the edges in places but it is clean. Room wasn’t as plush as the price leads you to expect. But it had everything you need including plenty of wardrobe space and portable mirror for doing makeup which many hotels fail to provide. Value of room. Bedding didn’t feel particularly luxurious. Bathroom was clean but not enough shelf space for toiletries and no vanity kit provided.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Lesley (8/5): Very good - New some of done staff were excellent John on reception and Anna at breakfast service When we arrived none of the outdoor cushions were outside. The weather was good another guest had to ask for them to be brought out. Friday night there were 3 groups sitting in the garden we asked for the outdoor fires to be put on. The manager came out and said he couldn’t put them on in case smoke went into the bedrooms. What is the point of having outdoor fires if you can’t use them. We felt he was fobbing us off and didn’t want to put them on.
- Patricia (9/5): Excellent short break destination with great staff. - Staff on reception/bar/restaurant/housekeeping excellent & a major asset .Therapist really good would recommend treatments. Swimming pool & facilities great . Meals in restaurant really good. Room large beds comfortable. Environment great lovely terrace & everywhere very clean & tidy. Nothing to be critical about
- Estelle (9/5): Superb hotel and facilities! - The secluded location meant it was quiet. The facilities were great for us as a small group so we would get up and have a swim or run, and in the evening entertain ourselves in the games room. The property itself is beautiful with lots of light and the garden is very chilled. There wasn’t much we didn’t love!
- Garry (9/5): Go on, Spoil yourself. - The contact I had on the telephone prior to the visit was very positive and was even better on arrival. I had spoken to John on the phone, answering the questions I had regarding extending my visit, his welcome and manner on arrival was exceptional.
We were shown to our room by Kay who also extended the warm welcome whilst also giving a clear yet personal introduction to all the available comforts and facilities. Thank you both.
Dinner at Stanleys was very good as was the sister pub The Bluebell at Langham.
Private Bookable Swimming.
Mini bar and In room facilities including Bathroom (Good Quality Shower AND Bath together with provided products) The number of dogs within the public areas.
- Kristina (10/5): Beautiful countryside hotel in Norfolk - Beautiful country hotel in Norfolk. The food is superb, the bar is very cosy for a drink after dinner and the location is fantastic. If you are looking for an idyllic stay in the countryside, the Harper is the one for you!
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Outstanding in every way possible - The gardens, room and staff were all AMAZING Nothing was all superb
- Gail (10/5): Lovely dog frendly hotel would definately reccommend to family and friends - Enjoyed private pool facility, shame steam room was out of order. Staff very accommodating and lovely boutique hotel. Great food with nice touches like complimentary mini bar and snacks. Pool temperature a bit too warm!
- Susan (9/5): Really enjoyable worth a visit - Staff were excellent very well trained and extremely pleasant. The facilities and too
Were very good The food was good but London prices. Too many happy dogs
- Lisa (10/5): Wow! Wow! Wow! - What a gem of a hotel. We were totally blown away as soon as we pulled up in the car park and it did not disappoint, the hotel smelt amazing, it hit's you as soon as you walk in the reception, everywhere pristine! Our room was fabulous, loved the champagne bucket, the complimentary drinks and popcorn, a very nice touch! We even had a separate dressing room with a funky retro radio, 2 lovely high back leather chairs, a four poster bed which was to die for, plush pillows and duvet, and the list goes on. There is also a beautiful spa and swimming pool and you can book a 30 minute slot which is a great idea!
We enjoyed a wonderful meal in Ivy's and it's dog friendly, such a beautiful dining room with lots of nice things to look at, and it overlooks the pretty courtyard garden. They even put the Englandf game on for us all and provided us with a free beer!
The staff were amazing, they couldn't do enough for us. The cocktails were out of this world and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast served in the garden in the sunshine, what more could we ask for.
We can't wait to come back soon, sooner rather than later. Our friends thought the same....just amazing! Nothing whatsoever....it was amazing!
- Jayne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (9/5): Wholly relaxing. - Loved the reception area - beautifully scented, calming environment. Would have liked the courtyard lights on in the evening.
- Shani (8/5): Very good - Lovely bar area and room was really lovely The waiting time for breakfast wasn’t great.
Taster menu was not great either but everything was lovely
- Sarah (10/5): A wonderful relaxing comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings - The hotel was in an excellent location, the hotel was beautiful and sympathetically renovated, very clean & peaceful - dog friendly and caters really well for dogs - excellent facilities and the staff were lovely and went above and beyond - superb food and service - would definitely go again .. Nothing - I could not fault it
- Glyn (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely everything. Loved the relaxed, unfussy style of the hotel. High end, but certainly not stuffy. Great staff. Bedroom was very comfortable. Nothing.
- Aidan (9/5): Lovely hotel with nice garden to sit in, very helpful and friendly staff, restaurant was great too! -
- Lisa (10/5): Relaxing and stress free - Rooms were spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, lovely extras in the room including a coffee machine. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Loved that it was dog friendly too!
- Linda (9/5): A lovely stay at the seaside! - It’s location is excellent
Lovely conversion of an old site
Breakfasts excellent
Very clean Slight problem with dogs in next room but only when the owners had left them
- Matthew (8/5): Very good - Lovely room lovely staff The half hour private swimming, sauna, jacuzzi slots felt like the COVID years.
Restaurant was more cafe style than restaurant which we didn’t expect based on the high quality everywhere else.
Food was between above average & good.
- Nicholas (9/5): It’s a shame that it’s not nearer to us or we would visit more often. - Beautifully appointed property. Nothing.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beales (9/5): Great stay - Room was very comfortable, staff were great loved the pool Tv in room wasn't working properly in both the rooms we have. Whilst all the staff were lovely we felt the staff at breakfast could do with a little extra training
