Guest Reviews
- Mia (10/5): - Wow, what a wonderful place, we had a complete rest and are still talking about how special it was to open the curtains in the morning to be greeted with the most beautiful and calming view.
The owner was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, she went over and beyond! Delicious breakfast and great ideas of where to visit in the neighbourhood. Our room was so spacious and so was the bathroom with everything you may need provided for. Nothing
- Michelle (10/5): Fabulous find in - The hosts were friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and the views outstanding. Breakfast cooked by Daniele was tasty and plentiful. Lovely pool too. Nothing
- John (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Nice relaxing couple of days. - Lovely location and superb views. Nothing
- Cathy (10/5): The Gees - Everything, it was perfect. The only thing we didn't have in our room was a TV, but the owner remedied that and brought in the TV from next door.
- Sharon (10/5): Just a perfect stay with a fabulous host nothing was too much trouble - Location was beautiful
Room lovely with a fabulous view
Breakfast was yummy Nothing to dislike what so ever
- Gina (10/5): -
- Geoff (9/5): A really enjoyable and relaxing stay. - Lovely cooked breakfast with plenty of choice. Host very informative when asked the area in general. nothing
- Amanda (10/5): - Both Daniele and Peter are amazing hosts. The whole ambience of the house is great 👍 the room was nice and clean, comfy bed and a really big en suite. The most amazing aspect of the room was the view. We sat and looked at that view all evening, watching the sunset when it wasn't raining but still amazing no matter what the weather. Breakfast was really nice, and Daniele is a fantastic cook. The pool is an added bonus which we took advantage of. A very enjoyable stay. Although the house is in an amazing location, be aware the roads are very narrow.
- Antony (10/5): Great spot - Lovely with great views Clean and tidy
- Rachel (10/5): Idyllic weekend by the river - Daniele was the perfect hostess, friendly and welcoming and an excellent chef. She was happy for us to check in earlier than planned and went out of her way to make us feel at home. There was a variety of tasty items available for breakfast and everything was freshly cooked. Our room was very large and comfortable and had a beautiful view of the river Dart. We didn't use the indoor pool (lack of time) but were offered use during our stay. Dittisham is a lovely village with great views and excellent walks in the area. Access is via narrow roads and a steep hill so care needs to be taken when driving in the area. I would advise visitors to ignore the sat nav and stay on main roads where possible!
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was excellent. Parking was possible.Danielle was a gem Having to leave was a downer
- Tracy (9/5): Very enjoyable. Great host. Very clean and comfortable. - Fantastic location
- Nigel (10/5): A wonderful place to stay! - Stunning views in a wonderful location. Beautifully furnished. Very comfortable beds.
We didn’t get a chance to use the swimming pool but it looked lovely!
Daniele was the perfect host and cooked us some delicious breakfasts. The tea, chilled milk and chocolate brownies left in the room for us were much appreciated.
We would definitely recommend Water Edge to anyone visiting South Devon.
- Robert (9/5): An excellent stay at Water edge with lovely views of the Dart estuary - The breakfast was very tasty and cooked to order and the room was lovely with great views across the Dart estuary. The hosts Daniele and Peter are very friendly, helpful and give advice on things to do and places to visit. The narrow streets in Dittisham are a bit of a challenge and parking is a bit tricky
- Susan (10/5): Ticked all my wished for boxes. - Wow! What a find! From the warmest welcome from Daniele and Peter to the incredible river view from my bedroom, the flood of light and a huge, but practical bathroom. Extensive breakfast with great choice from fruit, to cooked, to smoked salmon - a treat. It was my birthday and Daniele offered to cook a scrumptius supper, hugely enjoyed, complete with surprise birthday cake. Thank you for a relaxing, super comfortable and welcoming stay. Absolutely nothing.
- David (9/5): We very much enjoyed our short stay and would do it again. - Breakfasts which were excellent were served in the kitchen/diner which was light and inviting. The views are magnificent and Peter and Daniele were warm and friendly, with advice on where to visit.
- Jeremy (10/5): Beautiful location and friendly hosts. - Beautiful views of the estuary. Friendly hosts who made us feel at home. Daniele also cooked us a delicious Sri Lankan curry - thoroughly recommended!
- John (10/5): Beautiful House and location. - Breakfast was freshly cooked each morning with good and varied options. The bed room & en-suite were both large and well equipped and a nice comfortable bed. Lovely view looking out across Dart Estuary. Our hosts Daniele & Peter couldn't do any more for us. The property is reached by a steep and narrow lane/s. If your thinking of bringing your Humvee; then think again! These are Devon roads.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location, v friendly and welcoming owners. Would defo go again. Nothing.
- Misti (9/5): Lovely relaxing stay with great room, delicious breakfast, waterfront location, super hosts - Not a dislike but important for guests to be aware of steep and narrow road access to the property and Dittisham generally. Just need to take care.
- David (1/5): Avoid. Wouldn’t wish them on your worst enemy. - This is tricky. The view was nice. Awful place and worse ‘hosts’
On arrival we weren’t shown around the property, it felt like we were ushered to our room, we had no idea what time or where breakfast was served so we had to travel to Dartmouth for breakfast. There is nothing in Dittisham.
We could see the pool from our room but had no idea wow to get to it.
We had to disturb the other guests to move cars.
The final straw was getting to the room, boiling the kettle to find we had no milk.
A total disaster.
So much of a disaster that we left after one night rather than the three we’d paid for.
When we said we were leaving it, no one asked why. Surely it’s strange for folk to leave two days early? We felt they were please were leaving
All in all a very stage experience and one I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
- Malpass (9/5): A peaceful idyllic stay with great hosts and an amazing view! - Both Danielle and Peter were most welcoming and good hosts. The room had an amazing view across the water - a breathtaking vision. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and had everything you could need.
Danielle is a very good chef and provided a great breakfast - fresh apple juice from her own trees, eggs, avocado and smoked salmon! Nothing. All was great!
- Mike (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (9/5): Superb -
- Joss (9/5): Brilliant hosts and a very relaxed stay - Peter and Daniele were very welcoming and friendly. The room was warm, spacious, clean and had a stunning view of the river. The bed was very comfy, memory foam. Breakfast was lovely, freshly cooked and we even got pressed apples from the garden too!
Beautiful area, near to Dartmouth or Totnes by car. A ferry runs to dartmouth from outside the local pub, although we didn't use it during our stay.
- Jeff (10/5): Exceptional - A great find. Peter and Daniele were very friendly, we were made to feel at home as soon as we arrived. The location is beautiful with lovely views of the river from our spacious room. Breakfasts and dinners were delicious and excellently prepared by Daniele. Thanks for letting us stay, we look forward to returning in the summer.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mangan (10/5): The perfect break. Thank you! - Beautiful setting. Super-friendly hosts. Breathtaking scenery. Delicious breakfast. Spacious accommodation. Nothing.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely breakfast. Beautiful big room with an amazing view.
- Andrew (10/5): Wonderful hosts and location - Wonderful hosts Peter and Daniele. Beautiful property and room with fantastic views of the river Dart. Exceptional food provided by Daniele. We didn’t want to leave and would love to come back soon.
- Jordan (8/5): Very good - Loved the peaceful view from my room (Dittsum Creek) and the big bathroom with a lovely hot shower. Friendly hosts. There was an issue with the heating in the room, and other guests staying didn't move their car as asked and I needed to get my car out in order to catch a boat!
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful location and hosts. Very peaceful.
- Birch (8/5): Very good - hosts and view
- Leonora (9/5): Shhh keep this a secret - Despite the weather the location was just fab. The home cooked food was most enjoyable, as was the company of the hosts.
- Anita (10/5): Would love to have another stay here. - Beautiful peaceful location overlooking the River Dart.
Ferry boats available from Dittisham to Dartmouth. 5min ferry over the river to the National Trust property, Greenway House.
Two pubs in the village in walking distance. Water Edge has a indoor swimming pool which was an extra treat. Owner were very friendly and helpful. Nothing.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional - What a gem of a place that is hosted so well by Peter and Gabrielle. Can wait to return
- Camilla (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful weekend in Dittisham staying at Water Edge. Peter and Daniele were fantastic hosts - so welcoming and easy to talk to and breakfast was SUPERB. We were down for a wedding and the property was the perfect base. Nothing!
- Vincent (10/5): Would definitely recommend, and hope to return. - Excellent location. Wonderful, welcoming hosts. Beautiful comfortable impeccably clean room with superb view. Very varied and delicious breakfasts.
- Caroline (10/5): We booked it to attend a family celebration nearby and it exceeded our expectations. - The property, riverside location, breakfast and our host were all excellent. The price reflects the superior property. Not really a negative but more of a learning experience: The property is located in a very tiny lane which itself is typical/normal in Devon and Cornwall. However if you have a larger than ‘small compact’ car you may find the lane & gateway manoeuvres a bit tricky.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful position, outstanding place, a perfect host. Somewhere to completely relax
- Robert (10/5): Excellent. - The location, on the water front, was breathtaking along with the view from our room. The breakfast and hospitality was first class and we would not hesitate to return. Nothing!
- Suzanne (10/5): Lovely accommodation, outstanding location, idyllic views, all topped off by Danielle the host. - A wide choice of options to suit everyone. The fried English breakfast was cooked to order, and contained excellent products.
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, fantastic view from bedroom. Lovely easy going hostess. Short walk to Dittersham. Comfortable, peaceful, hospitality, lovely breakfast, very comfortable bedroom, large bathroom. Swimming pool. Nothing
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Location was superb, breakfast was very good. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. There was nothing to complain about.
- Paul (8/5): Very peaceful and enjoyable break. - Location room with views of river peaceful and outstanding breakfast
- Margaret (10/5): we'll stay there again if ever thenopportunity arises. - We loved the Water Edge and would thoroughly recommend it for a b and b stay. We were looked after beautifully. Our host and hostess were interesting to talk to, treated us like family members and Danielle provided marvellous food. The breakfasts consisted of almost anything you could think of! The bedroom had lovely views of the water leading up to the River Dart. The room was spacious and provided all the amenities that one might need.
- Caroline (10/5): Lovely hosts, lovely property and lovely area! - Waking up to the view of the River Dart from the bedroom was awesome. Peter and Daniele were extremely welcoming and Daniele cooks a wonderful breakfast. The property was also very clean.
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Stuart (10/5): To be repeated. - The breakfast that we had was delicious a light continental with scrumptious fruit pastries and coffee. The offer of salmon and eggs was made by our lovely hostess but we had to decline due to our planned trip out to Sharpham Trust The stay could have been longer. We could have borrowed a kayak and gone for a paddle and we could have made use of the swimming pool. We did frequent the excellent Ferry Boat Inn
- Kira (10/5): Beautiful room, flawless location and wonderful hosts! - The breakfast was delicious and very beautifully laid out for us. The coffee, tea and homemade brownies displayed in the room also felt like a real treat. The river view from our bed was incredibly peaceful, so was the view from every window! The bathroom ginormous and light. Peter and Daniele were very relaxed and accommodating hosts, we could have sat chatting at breakfast until lunch (I think we almost did!) We will definitely stay again... That we couldn't stay another night ;-)
