Very close and in view. This took away from the privacy factor for us as a family, and reduced the feeling of getting away from it all.

The house is excellently stocked with - The location is unrivaled with its views and surrounding nature. The house itself is the picture perfect farmhouse anyone could dream of. The stairs can be challenging for night time bathroom trips. Perhaps a small night light on the stairs?

• Ishan (9/5): The Farm house - Honestly everything there's nothing not to like about this place. The view from the front porch is spectacular. The house itself is a self catering dream it has everything besides a TV which I'm very happy about. There's a beautiful dam and a mountain behind the house. Take your pick. The caretakers' rondavel. It's pretty close but it's nothing a bamboo fence can't fix. Just for the added privacy.

• Chen (10/5): Exceptional - Loved staying here! The place was super clean with an amazing view right at the foot of the mountain - waking up to those epic peaks every morning was wow! Right next door is a nature reserve, and we often hear the roars of wild animals — so cool! Our favorite spot was the lakeside BBQ area - perfect for sunset grilling. Definitely a unique stay if you love nature adventures!

• Richard (9/5): Exceeded expectations - Exceptional venue. Situated on a hill overlooking the Drak Gardens valley, expansive views of the main escarpment as well as Bamboo Mountain to one side and Garden Castle to the other. Easy access to all the local attractions. We stayed in Fergies Cottage, four-bedded. I wouldn't describe it as luxurious, but it's extremely comfortable, clean and pleasant. (The adjacent Farmhouse is substantially bigger and more opulent.) The service from the hosts and the local supervisor, Cindy, is excellent; extremely efficient and all done in such a friendly fashion. Property is well-maintained and backs on to the wilderness area, and we regularly saw eland, baboons and grey rhebuck.

• Kirshnee (10/5): A slice of heaven - Located at the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains, the Bamboo Mountain Farm is a serene and incredibly beautiful location to simply relax, unwind or go on fun adventures into nature! The loved the trails nearby which afforded almost 360 degree views of the mountain ranges, the refreshing swimming hole and the comfort of the farmhouse itself. The accommodation has everything you will need for a great stay and is cosy enough that it feels like home away from home. I really enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend. That I could not stay longer!

• Sue (10/5): Exceptional - Wow this cottage is so nice. Very clean and comfortable. The kitchen is also well equipped. Location is the middle of the mountains :) Note that since it's a farm in the mountains, to arrive to it, one needs about 20 minutes driving without seeing a shop.

The house was well appointed and had everything we needed and more for the most relaxing and comfortable weekend away. The property manager Cindy was extremely rude and unwelcoming. She seemed preoccupied and not wanting to have to deal with guests. The place wasn't clean. All the crockery had to be washed before use as there were dead flies and insects everywhere. The windows were dirty, and we couldn't use the Weber BBQ as it obviously hadn't been cleaned for a long time.

A superb farmhouse with everything you need and more to make your stay feel like a home away from home. Cindy was available to help us with anything we needed whenever we needed it. Just fantastic. We would have stayed longer if we could have. There is nowhere else we would want to stay in the Underberg... There wasn't anything i would or could complain about.

• Raath (9/5): A perfect place to truly unwind and relax. - The property is a good size, large garden area, very spacious with breathtaking views. A secluded lake is literally a stones throw away. The interior is very homely and welcoming. The owners have kitted it out with plenty of cookware, kitchen appliance’s, games and seating inside and out. We were provided with enough firewood to last the whole week. There was even free WiFi in the unit. Cindy was a great host and always made sure we were taken care of. I can’t really say there was anything we didn’t like.
