• Christopher (10/5): For a weekend city break, you couldn’t choose a better hotel or location - You’re in the old town, and it’s a short walk to the centre of town, you’re never more than five minutes away from one of the best glasses of white wine and Tapas you’ve ever had in your entire life. The rooms are spectacular, the beds are unbelievably comfortable, the showers are incredible (especially for someone who shower at home is broken). The staff were first class, incredibly helpful and kind. This might be my new favourite hotel in Bilbao. Nothing comes to mind..

Staff were exceptionally hospitable, helpful and friendly. Comfortable bed, lovely breakfast. Room was a little compact and as we were travelling for two weeks we had two large cases so struggled for space. I guess the room was perfect for single traveller or two travelling light.

• Evert (9/5): The friendliest hotel in the most beautiful city centre. - The location is superb. It's in the historic city centre and very much near a tram stop with great connections. Besides the staff is super friendly and helpful. And there is always staff present! The room was a little small and missed a real chair. I don't want to watch tv only from the bed. On the other side the quality of the room was very good and all rooms are near the elevator.

From check-in to departure, the staff truly made it a warm and very welcoming experience. Everyone is so friendly, polite and helpful, the team genuinely couldn't do enough for us and we were never made to feel as if we were a bother to them. Wonderful rooms, spotlessly clean, fabulous breakfast and great location...Perfect in every way and most certainly helped to make our holiday one to remember. There wasn't anything to dislike about our stay at the Goien Hotel, everything was just perfect.

First of all, I really liked the breakfast because the main dish — eggs Benedict — was prepared right in front of me and served warm. The attentiveness and kindness of the waitress left me speechless. Thank you, and I will definitely stay again next time.

• Catherine (10/5): A great little hotel in the heart of the old town. - Goien Boutique is in a great location within the old city, making all the key attractions walkable. It’s a small and very cosy place; the lounge area, with its selection of newspapers and magazines and shelves full of books, was a very comfortable place to relax at the end of the day. Every member of staff that we met was super helpful and quick to respond to any request. Breakfast was included and was very tasty. The bar in the lounge was a great bonus for an evening drink. There was nothing I disliked about the Goien Hotel.

• Rita (10/5): Una pequeña joya a las afueras del casco viejo - Queremos expresar nuestro agradecimiento a todo el personal del Goien Boutique Hotel! Das kleine Hotel ist wirklich ein Juwel am Rande des casco viejo. Wir hätten es nicht besser treffen können. Zunächst ein herzlicher Empfang mit viel Infos zur Stadt und Umgebung und am nächsten Morgen ein wunderbares Frühstücksbuffet. Es gab von allem etwas und man fragte im Voraus auch an, ob wir besondere Wünsche hätten. Wir essen nur Vegetarisches und waren äußerst zufrieden mit der Auswahl. Vor allem, dass alles frisch zubereitet wurde (verschiedene Eierspeisen zum Beispiel, frischer Orangensaft) und nichts verpackt war. Da es ein kleines Hotel ist gab es zwei „Frühstücksschichten“ zur Auswahl. Bei uns gab es nie Probleme wegen Platzmangels. Alle Angestellten waren sehr höflich und äußerst nett. Eine wahre Freude. Die Fotos der Zimmer und des Hotels entsprechen zu 100% der Realität. Auch die Lage des Hotels ist wunderbar. Man bekommt nichts vom Lärm der angrenzenden Altstadt mit, allerdings blieben unsere Fenster wegen der Jahreszeit meist geschlossen. Wir haben fast alles an Sehenswürdigkeiten - innerhalb Bilbaos - zu Fuß erreicht und wenn wir mal keine Lust hatten, nahmen wir den Euskotren Haltestelle Ribera (fast vor der Tür). Wir können dieses Hotel uneingeschränkt empfehlen.

• Kate (8/5): Comfortable rooms. Very friendly staff. Very close to Ribera Market and the River. - Good location in the old town. Well equipped rooms. If you like natural light in the room ask for a room overlooking the street. The rooms at the back overlook an internal courtyard and are darker. I did not like my allocated room because it had no natural light but the staff were very helpful and moved me to a room on the opposite side of the hotel.

Die Lage in der Altstadt von Bilbao ist ebenfalls ideal. Ein kleiner Hinweis: Die Standardzimmer haben teilweise Blick auf eine Wand oder ein gegenüberliegendes Gebäude, wodurch wenig Tageslicht ins Zimmer kommt. Wer Wert auf Licht oder Aussicht legt, sollte eventuell eine höhere Zimmerkategorie wählen.

We stayed in the penthouse room on the 5th floor, which features a private terrace, a huge comfortable bed, and lovely views of the street and the church Antxon Antxon Deunaren Eliza. I'mThe room was spotless, and the bathroom was very practical, with a large shower offering excellent water pressure and a thoughtful selection of toiletries. One of the highlights of the hotel—on top of everything mentioned above—is the breakfast. It is outstanding. Without a doubt, the best eggs in town, accompanied by a great selection of cured meats, cheeses, cereals, yogurts, sweet pastries, always freshly squeezed orange juice, and much more. The location is fantastic: right in the historic city center and next to the river. It’s less than a 10-minute walk to Plaza Nueva and only 2-walk minutes from the tram station, which takes you to the Guggenheim museum along the river. Coming from the service industry myself, as the owner of a yacht charter business, I was truly impressed by the high standards and overall quality at Goien Boutique Hotel, specially all the details and the professional staff. Congratulations to the entire staff for running such a beautiful hotel
