Guest Reviews
- Belinda (9/5): A well serviced cottage in a beautiful location! - Gorgeous location and cozy cottage A little cold on the first night
- Barbara (8/5): Very good - Lovely setting and home full of character. Property has real historic interest though I only discovered some of this later, by an online search. Owner, Julian, was very obliging in supplying our needs, when asked. Effective cosy wood fire. Beautiful grounds for walks with interesting features to explore. Did I overlook info when booking? I hadn't noticed that one bedroom can only be accessed via the other. Or perhaps in summer via a trek across the verandah. I didn't check whether key was available for that door as a) it was winter and b) it would have required climbing over the bed to exit and enter. Not really a viable option I think. Maximum limit of two oil heaters at a time meant we struggled to warm parts of the cottage, given layout
. [STILL well worth discovering and visiting we agreed.]
- Glenda (8/5): Very pleasant stay - The cottage has everything you need, including a dishwasher and washing machine. It was clean, comfortable, and cosy. The host was very friendly and helpful.
When we first arrived, some electrical items weren't connected, but the host helped to rectify that.
It would have been nice to be able to open a window or two, as the cottage was a little musty, but there were no fly wire screens.
There's obviously been additional rooms added for space. Because of that, there are several steps. Small ones into the kitchen/dining area and bathroom, and two up into the bedrooms. The bottom step into the bedroom is quite large and a little difficult to negotiate with arthriticy knees.
- Sylvana (3/5): not the quality we were expecting. Photos were deceiving/ not current. House was smelly and dirty. - keys were in the front door when we arrived. Everything.
The house was dirty, dusty and dead flies everywhere,
linen was old and need a revamp.
Garden was unkept for such a beautiful heritage cottage.
Fridge had one shelf. and hair was in the fridge.
no top sheets were on the bed.
kitchen was dirty and wifi didn't work well.
bathroom was dirty and the whole cottage smelt musty.
- Belinda (8/5): Fabulous gardens and walks, and really nice hosts. It was like being in a tree wonderland. - Breakfast was not included, but hostess gave us a lovely pot of jam she had just made, and some fresh eggs No fly wires on windows, and had forgotten to take aeroguard. Got badly bitten.
Kitchen and bathroom facilities were very clean and fresh, but there were dead and alive insects in house, which needed to be aired.
- Richard (7/5): Good -
- Thomas (9/5): The cottage was very nice and cosy and clean. We had a great stay and would definatly recommend it! - Location and garden surrounding the property, the warmth of the house and relaxed atmosphere.
- Ella (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judith (10/5): A place of great beauty and tranquility. - It was very special to be able to enjoy without tourists, the second oldest My Macedon Heritage-listed garden.
I loved the open fire and views from the cottage. A memorable stay. The beds in the second bedroom needed sheets. But still comfortable.
- Gary (7/5): Beautiful property. Magical location. - Beautiful property, magical location. Minutes to mountain lookouts and Hanging Rock. Hosts were very welcoming. A bit pricey. No milk or toiletries. Otherwise all good.
- Diana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emc2scotia (9/5): Excellent stay, beautiful location and cottage. Hosts were awesome, highly recommended. - Location, cottage, surroundings, hosts communicative Some supplies such as bread, butter etc. would've been nice
- Andrew (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed the welcoming and picturesque location of this property. - Gorgeous location. Accommodation filled with character. The road up to the property unsealed.
- Peter (10/5): A memorable, happy and very comfortable stay at the wonderful, historic, Ard Choille. - The Stables accommodation was just wonderful. We had lovely wood fires which warmed up all the rooms and made us feel comfortable and cosy. The bed/mattress was perfect, as good as it gets, had great sleeps. Very quiet at night, and day, and terrific outlook from the windows. But the best thing of all was that we could access and stroll about and explore the magnificent 12 acres of historic gardens. This was such a treat! Susie and Julian, our hosts, were most hospitable and friendly, and we thank them sincerely for a memorable couple of days stay. There was nothing not to like.
- Robbie (9/5): Stunning location, very well renovated cottage which was warm and comfortable. Great hosts! - Stunning location and very well renovated country cottage, that lived up to the charm and history of the property and its surroundings. It has been well renovated and is warm and comfortable. The hosts were very kind and lit the fire for us (we were arriving back late into the evening from an event), so the cottage was very inviting on arrival.
The hosts are delightful and really care about their guests and the quality of the property. It is lovely and good value for money. Superb location too. Not many things to not like - maybe a mirror for the bathroom would be useful.
