He's warm, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and made our stay a wonderful experience. Our room was comfortable and beautifully appointed - it respected its heritage while adding modern touches for added convenience. • Cynthia (8/5): Great stay - Fred was an excellent host! Always welcoming with a lovely smile. Great location...easy walk to the famous church and to main Street with all the shops and restaurants. Parking was ok and no charge although we weren't there in the high season. Free parking across the street if needed. Would stay here again! We were aware the room didn't have any bathroom amenities (from other posts) but we were slightly surprised by the lack of towels... only 1 towel (of any size) per person for a 3 night stay. Only other issue was one of the 2 lights in the bathroom was out (mentioned it to management but nothing helped).

We were 2 floors up without an elevator which was a chore for 80 and 85 year olders. Fred helped us get luggage up but it took me 3 trips to get it down because we had to leave early.
• Goodwin (9/5): - On arrival, we received a very warm welcome from Fred. We were in France to visit the D-day beaches and the location of the guest house was ideal for this. Then in the evening it was a short walk into Bayeux to enjoy the bars and restaurants. We enjoyed our breakfast of cereal and fresh croissants. We would definitely recommend this guest house. On one of our days we returned back to the room after a day out and it hadn't cleaned i.e bed not made up, bin not emptied and coffee not replenished.

We were a large party of 7 so it was wonderful to all be able to stay at the same place. Breakfast was delicious. Pillows were a little flat.

Arrived 4 pm to locked front door with no one to receive us until 5pm. Radiant heater in room didn’t work and it was needed due to cool weather. Numerous small ants found among breakfast food items.

• michael (7/5): Good for a night or two to be in central Bayeux. - The property is very close to the centre yet also a short walk to a nature park for a morning stroll. It's an attractive 30's style property that retains a period charm. Breakfast is standard continental but perfectly good. Despite offering free parking nearby I was pleased to find there is on-site parking after all although I thought it was a bit pricey at 9 Euro a night. Whilst the en-suite was generously large the bedroom was quite small and the bed was recessed between two doors such that there were no proper bedside tables. There is no additional desk or seating either so it's not a room to spend time in and not great to read or have tea in bed. I'm sure there were better rooms and as we seemed to be the only guest staying 4 nights rather than 1, I don't know why we didn't get one. Avoid room 5 is my advice. There was satellite TV but no English channels at all (I really did search hard). Now i don't go on holiday to watch TV but I do like to catch the news a bit so a channel of BBC world or CNN (barely news I know) wouldn't have gone amiss. One odd thing. The tea facilities were on a small tray and I had to move it into the bathroom to find a plug. In doing so a mug fell off and broke. When I asked for another I was told there were no more and got a paper cup. It was never replaced from day one. I find it hard to believe there are no spares of these obviously cheap plain mugs and to be honest I felt I was being punished like a naughty schoolboy. It might be a language thing but perhaps this is something the hosts need to reflect on?

• Marleen (9/5): Zeker een aanrader. - Locatie in het oude centrum van Bayeux met restaurants en bezienswaardigheden op loop afstand. Ontvangst door Fred was uiterst vriendelijk en gastvrij met duidelijke uitleg en tips. Ontbijt prima verzorgd. Kamer en badkamer zagen er schoon en netjes uit in de stijl van het historische pand. Prima locatie om Bayeux en omgeving te verkennen. Eigenlijk niets. Dat er geen lift is wordt duidelijk vermeld bij de boeking. Wel iets om rekening mee te houden! Onze kamers lagen op de 2e verdieping. Dat zijn 4 trappen op!

We even washed our car on the property. Our room was comfortable and had a city view. We had a lovely breakfast in a breakfast room with fresh orange juice, croissants, coffee, cheese , meat and pastries. Very convenient for city walks. Nothing at all

Nothing. Just a suggestion, not a criticism, we are not all skinny so we would welcome the towels being a bit bigger.

Les espaces commun sont très beaux et joliment décorés. Nous reviendrons avec plaisir La salle de bain de notre chambre (au demeurant très belle) aurait besoin d'un rafraichissement. Les chambres sont peu insonorisées mais durant notre séjour cela n'a pas été gênant.

• Josephine (10/5): - The house decor is quite interesting. It has recently been remodeled, and it is quite cozy. The breakfast is lovely and it’s small enough to feel the intimacy of a home. The 5 PM check-in time is very difficult and not necessary. Check in at 5 PM and check out at 11 is not convenient. I believe there should be somebody to check in guest between 3 and 5 PM.

• James (10/5): See above - Our newly re-furbished room was delightful, including a small semi-circled sitting area with a beautiful unobstructed view of the Cathedral. The staff was very helpful and made a wonderful suggestion for dinner at a lovely small restaurant near the Cathedral where we enjoyed one of our best meals during our 1 day trip to France. We also enjoyed exploring this beautiful village. My wife and I very highly recommend a stop at Bayeux on a trip through Normandy and a stay at Le Castel. Nothing

• Mariska (10/5): Le Castel zouden we opnieuw boeken! - Het ontbijt was heerlijk en rustig, de locatie is perfect. Binnen 5 minuten ben je in het centrum! De bedden waar een klein beetje aan de harde kant voor ons doen, verder geen opmerkingen.
• Gennady (7/5): Es ist ok für eine Nacht, aber nicht unbedingt wiederholen - Liebevoller Empfang, nette ältere Villa. Großes Badezimmer. Das Zimmer war echt klein, keine Nachttische, steile Treppe. Das Frühstück war ziemlich mager, gerade ausreichend. Der kleine Parkplatz sollte beim stolzen Zimmerpreis schon nicht extra kosten.

• Maarten (1/5): Teleurstellend en het gevoel van opgelicht zijn. - Eigenlijk niets wij zijn nooit in de geboekte accommodatie geweest. Wijj kregen een slecht appartement Au Loup. omdat men aan het renoveren was. Communicatie en eerlijkheid. We voelde ons als klant niet serieus genomen. Het is deze man niet om kwaliteit te doen maar om het innen van zoveel mogelijk geld.

Een heerlijk ontbijt (ik mistte alleen wel een eitje 🤭) Ligging was perfect, 3 minuten lopen en je bent zo in het centrum. Parkeren kan of betaald bij het pand of gratis 5 minuten verderop. Eigenlijk niets 😀
• Peter (1/5): A total disaster, small smelly room and food mean and awful, I would never recommend it to anyone. - Breakfast was very mean, limited to one tiny croissant and a single piece of bread, when asked for more told that that was all we would get, same with jam for the bread. A very mean place to stay, also room smelt and was small and cramped. I would not recommend it to anyone. Breakfast very limited, also tiny mean portions, had to go out for a decent breakfast, croissants were small,mean with the jam a total disaster. Told basically what you see is what you get, don’t ask for more because you will not get it.
• Lou Carol (10/5): Excellent and charming hotel! - Breakfast was wonderful and filling with many choices of food to eat. Included fresh local produce. Room was very clean and perhaps freshly painted, with windows and view of the cathedral. Enjoyed using the fan to keep cool on these hot summer days and nights. Location was excellent with good access to downtown and many restaurants. Good walking distance to the Bayeux Tapestry museum. Staff was very helpful in finding a place to park my car.

We were told early service would be available at 7:15. When we arrived we were told 7:50 instead. We had to beg for a croissant and a a banana. Better accommodation of our needs.

While there was parking on site, we were told it was an 'extra' charge and we parked accross the way in a public parking. • Charles (7/5): Great location and quaint period residence. - Location was excellent...near all the sights and restaurants. The room was a tad outdated but comfortable. Great Parking! Standard breakfast but no HOT food was offered. The rooms bathroom could us a retro-fit....very outdated.
• Diane (6/5): Not what I expected. - The location was excellent. Easily within walking distance to the church and to the village where there are shops and restaurants Musty smell. Small room but large bathroom. Shower did not drain properly and no shampoo or hand soap at wash basin. Bed ok. No one lives in the facility. No way to check in before 5, even to leave your bags.
• pascal (10/5): Ambiance château féerique - L'ambiance petit chateau dans une très belle demeure, avait un petit côté Cendrillon. Proximité du centre historique. La chambre était placé au dernier étage, calme. En basse saison, il est facile de trouver une place de stationnement.
