• Firiael (10/5): Home away from Home. - Location - It was centrally located, just 300 mtrs from Devi Road and the market area. Our work locations were almost walking distance from the property. Host - Nirmal Ji is one of the best homestay hosts I have come across. He is kind and helpful, and meets you with a jovial expression. Upon checking in, he sat with us and informed us about traveling in Kotdwara. During a crunch, he also offered to lend his scooty for us to get around town. He was always available for any needs we might have, and resolved minor inconveniences in a speedy manner. Aunty even gave us an induction cooker so we would not go hungry while working late at night. Ashu is another star of the homestay, he helped us navigate everything and coordinate with the help. They ensured that it felt like staying in a home away from home. Food - We had to leave early for work on all days, and the host was kind enough to arrange breakfast for us at 6.30 AM. All the food was delicious, hygienic and healthy, and home cooked. Property - My first look inside the room, and I could tell some serious effort had gone into ensuring guest comfort. Equipped with an AC, adequate windows for ventilation, cupboards and even a study table with lamp, this was one of the best rooms I have stayed in. The layout of the second floor included three rooms, a separate dining area and kitchen, and even a living room with a smart TV. The common area is large, equipped with relaxed and work suitable seating. There were some fitness equipment also available. The common area comes with its own balcony. View - Our rooms were on the second floor. Two rooms have access to a shared balcony towards the front of house from which you can see the city laid out like a toy set, with a backdrop of the mountains. The common area balcony looks into a green space, and we saw fireflies in the trees at night, which was an unexpected pleasure. Feedback - Nirmal ji sat with us and personally took feedback on what could be improved. Honestly, everything exceeded expectations. There is nothing that I didn't like. Things that can be added to this exceptional stay are smaller details, like doorbells for the rooms, charging ports under the work desk in the common area, etc.
