Guest Reviews
- Raistrick (8/5): A great couple of days in a wonderful location - Location is great and parking next door. Room 3 was large and had plenty of room.
Fridge Bathroom had a bad smell
- MARCUS (8/5): Excellent place, and great value. - Excellent location. Modern bathroom, balcony, and very decent price, even for March. It was a little bit difficult to find, the streets are very narrow, but that is no faulty of the property.
- Michael (10/5): - Good location, clean room, lovely balcony, easy access Maybe a full length mirror and a few wall hooks to hang clothes, but nothing major really...
- Paula (10/5): Perfect overnight in centre of town - Perfect location in centre of town. Felt very safe and perfect for an overnight stay No mugs
- Kevin (10/5): - Immaculate room, comfortable beds. Although en-suite is small the shower was powerful &enclosed in a roomy cubicle. Carpark right next to the apartments too. Nothing to dislike.
- Clare (8/5): - Good central location, next to a car park which had very cheap overnight rate.
- Andy (10/5): -
- Lewis (1/5): Avoid at all costs. - The location. Room was dirty and the shower smelled heavily of urine.
The shower head was disgusting and looked like it had never been cleaned.
The shower controller was actually in the bedroom area so there was no way to control the shower from within the shower cubicle.
When we complained about the smell we were told to run the shower for 10 minutes and if it still smells they would bring us an air freshener.
Not good enough.
Would definitely not recommend the place and would never go again.
My daughter’s Uni accommodation is loads nicer and cleaner.
- Glen (8/5): -
- Shelley (7/5): Very Good - Excellent value for money and comfy bed Over looking car park
- Agnieszka (3/5): - Location was ok, but I had to pay extra £11.5 for parking as you can't park on the promises No parking
Dirty cups, mirrors etc
Dodgy people around and loud, long knocking on door of a room where blooded man was staying... not sure if it was incident or usual user of the rooms
- patricia (5/5): I think I have written all I have to say - It was central to the town The facility was very poorly equipped, in the bathroom there was nothing to hang your towels on no shelves to put your toiletries on the bathroom was big enough to have built in sink and toilet units, the pillows were so thin 2 together never made them thick enough, the duvet was one of the cheapest you could purchase, I appreciate that they don’t want any cooking done in there but a sink would be nice to wash the cups up. Also some bedside tables It was supposed to be a deluxe apartment wouldn’t want a basic one
- Louise (9/5): - Property was nice and central for everywhere and comfortable
- Anna (10/5): -
- Sheryl (9/5): Got exactly what we paid for - would book again. - For the price we paid for 2 nights i was happy with the room.
The location is great, close to the centre, reasonable easy to find and parking available in the pay & display car park right next door or onstreet parking (if you've booked a permit) not much further away.
The building and decor in the communal areas is interesting.
The bed was comfy and the view was spectacular.
We didn't have cause to contact the staff during our stay but the contact we had from them before hand was great, and the parking permit we booked was in our room when we arrived. I booked a deluxe room so was slightly amused by the small size (but it was the size it was advertised as, I just hadn't read that bit).
The bathroom, though clean, didn't have anywhere to hang towels, and the shelf directly above the sink made brushing our teeth interesting.
The main issue was the entrance to the shower being only about 50cm wide, probably would be a big problem in the event of an emergency but it gave us a giggle.
- louise (10/5): - The view from the room was beautiful, room was lovely and clean. Need bigger pillows as they were really flat but that's just my opinion
- teresa (8/5): - Location, price was reasonable, room was clean but looked like it needed a deep clean. Needed non slip Mat in shower, possibly mini fridge and some cutlery
- Yvonne (10/5): -
- Sally (8/5): Excellent location and parking next door - Location and car park next door Damp smell and the bathroom needed a deep clean
- Stephanie (6/5): Good value, but limited facilities - Shower was good Television didn't work at all, room wasn't cleaned and supplies replenished after arrival, but was rejected by the price. Thought a seperately sitting area would be a sofa, not a dining table and chairs.
- aimee (4/5): Don’t bother - Its location Green light by tv on all night meaning you cannot sleep. Pillows were useless and actually hurt me
- andrew (7/5): Value for money - The cost and size of the property were excellent for the money. It was very warm at night and could do with a fan in the room.
- Benjamin (5/5): - Clean apartment, nice location. The parking situation. I paid £10 for parking but never received the parking coupon thing. I had emailed prior to booking the parking to ask how it worked but heard nothing back. I booked the parking for my night's stay with no difficulties for the date that I was staying (naturally). When I phoned to ask where the parking was they told me that I couldn't use my booked parking as it was booked less than. 24 hours before my stay. If that is the case then I should not be allowed to go ahead and book the parking. There were no issues in booking for the date I booked. Happy to take the money but not provide the service. I have requested a refund but have not received anything. It was very stressful to arrive after a long drive to then spend an hour speaking with someone about parking I'm not allowed on use and to then look for and pay for (twice) parking. Very disappointed
- darren (10/5): Great place to stay. Would highly recommend. - Easy to find. Easy to get in. Very clean and was close to everything ie pubs, shops, harbour. Nothing
- Pam Gibson (10/5): Great stay in Whitby - Brilliant location, close to the town but quiet. Car park was next door so couldn't be handier. Clean and comfortable and lovely views from the balcony. Nothing.
- Jemma (1/5): Will not be coming back. - The outside and door handles Outdated rooms, badly stained carpets and fusty smell. Rooms were not clean and cold in the night. Location was difficult to find. Room code was not accurate so had to call also was not given the main door code to get to the second room at night.
- Jeffrey (1/5): Very disappointing - The view Very small, dirty old furniture dirty old table and chairs on balcony, bathroom a joke, booked for two nights but went home the next day
- Katrina (8/5): - The rainfall shower was gorgeous, the room was clean and great value. The mattress is a bit too thin, the duvet is too small and the pillows are not very comfortable. I did book a deluxe suite again and again i was given a normal room.
- Kallam (1/5): Rubbish and very disappointed - Nothing this time Everything, payed for deluxe room expected one more a less the same as the last one we stayed in which was perfect. But this was not the case , the room was not the size it was advertised as and was very dirty . The sheets had pubic hair all over them and the long brown hairs . There was dirt all over the skirting boards and walls . I don’t have any hair as Im bald and my partner is blonde . We had to wait nearly two hours to be moved so had to sit the car as it was raining . When we were finally moved to another room it was a down grade to a smaller room and no mention of the getting back the difference we had payed . Iv lodged a complaint. This really spoiled our only day off work this week and it really put a negative on the palace which is more disappointing as we enjoyed our stay the so much the previous month so that’s why we’d booked again expecting to have the same experience.
- Julie (10/5): -
- Kallam (10/5): Perfect shame it was repeated on our next stay . - Everything Our next stay two weeks later has let the whole palace down for us both
- Lesley (9/5): Loved it! - Central to all of Whitby. Easy checking in and everything as advertised. Absolutely excellent value for money. We will be back! Everything fine for us.
- Debbie (6/5): - Great location No WiFi for first day, disgusting stain on bed base so I didn't want to sleep in it. . Bathroom sink was tiny with glass shelf directly over it meant brushing teeth difficult. Don't think anyone overweight would fit in shower, tiny opening. Very soft mattress,
- Rita (8/5): Very pleasant - Location Nothing
- Paul (9/5): I would have rated it 10 but dirty shower sealant let it down - Location, room size Nothing really
- Lucy (8/5): Would use this accommodation again, bed so comfortable view 100%. -
- Paul (5/5): - Good location No fridge or microwave in room 5 ?
- Paulette (10/5): - Great location No chair in room 7 for some reason. A table but no chair
- Kay Percy (8/5): - Clean and spacious There was a smell in the en suite like the drains and could not connect to WiFi
Didn't like the number codes on the locks
- Paul (5/5): - Good location No fridge or microwave in room 5 ?
- Julie (10/5): -
- kay (5/5): - Location was good, The room had several issues, shower cubicle entrance tight and awkward to adjust shower control s due to location .
Lack of hangers for clothing (2 per person) and awkward to use as can not be removed from rail.
Lack of shelving in bathroom and shower cubicle.
A mini fridge would be beneficial
Bed feels like a 3/4 and pillows are small and too soft.
If your light sensitive take a eye mask as the area where the TV is placed has 6 led lights that keep flashing and illuminated the room.
- Keith (8/5): Very good value for money and comfortable - Location and cleanliness plus value for money Sparce decoration
- Kelly (10/5): -
- Kay (10/5): With every penny - Clean and tidy Nothing
- Lucy (7/5): Improvements being made - The improvement of cleaning. We have previously stayed here and our last stay was shocking. This time the carpet was clean, bedding, cups and kettle. For £50 for 1 night this is all we expect so this time it was spot on.
I didn't use the shower as this still looked a bit dingy but I appreciate they are making improvements and it's a work in progress.
We were unfortunately woken at 8am by talking outside the bedroom window by owners? Workers? Bit of a shame as I was looking forward to a lie in. Bathroom, small tv.
- Emma (10/5): Great stay - We had a very nice stay at this hotel and would happily return. The room was immaculate, beautifully decorated, and had two single beds, which was perfect for our stay. The bathroom was stunning, and the shower was both powerful and consistently hot.
The hotel is located in a very quiet area, making it easy to relax and enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. We also loved the balcony, which was a lovely place to sit and unwind.
Overall, the hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, with great attention to detail throughout. Highly recommended. Could of done with blackout blinds
- Naomi (10/5): Brilliant, clean and calm would stay again! - Amazing location, clean, calm room!
Ironwork outside and in the lobby is beautiful, rooms are well maintained, great appliances and very peaceful. Pay and display car park right next to hotel, reasonably priced. A little tricky to get to but part & parcel of such a central accommodation.
- David (9/5): -
- GRAHAM (9/5): - Great location and great value .
- dtnich (8/5): -
- Carol (9/5): - Location and view Shower controls outside shower made getting temp right faffy
- Anne-marie (7/5): - Brilliant location;- very close to the city centre, attractions, harbour, amenities, all there on your doorstep ❤️ The only thing that was lacking is there was nowhere to hang towels or clothes.
- Gary (10/5): Good location, good price, can’t grumble. - Location was excellent, just a short walk into town. Parking was a problem but it was the school half term so only to be expected really.
- Eadington (8/5): -
- Nathalie (1/5): Awful / Avoid at any costs - Nothing
Booked the room through Booking.com all went well. Got my booking confirmation etc… but after 7 hours driving arriving on premises we were told that they cannot find our booking?
Had to be on the phone for 4 hours to sort this with booking.com
This hotel couldn’t care less & left us stranded No one care & left us stranded … got our booking confirmed by booking.com but hotel couldn’t find it …
Left us in a right mess !
Thanks for nothing
- Susan (9/5): One nights stay in Whitby Central accommodation easy access - Central Could do with a little decorating, and cleaning of carpets
- mark (10/5): -
- Ann (1/5): Shocking company, I couldn’t get a refund 250% I so wish I’d read the reviews first. We didn’t use the rooms the review - Not a thing Take note of the reviews - check them before booking
- Harrison (7/5): Great location - Excellent location, next to car park.
Great shower. Key code system works well. Clean. Every thing you need for a short stay. Very cheap. Room 15 was dark and hot - fan would have been very useful in the recent weather. Bed was fine but cheap sheets.
- Morris (8/5): -
- Ivanna (5/5): Cheap stay, basic but adequate - Easy location to get too and close to a lot of attractions etc Everything was really loud, kept awake by the noise of the keypads as people were coming and going, people talking in the street etc, could do with something to help with the sound levels
- Jo (8/5): - Great location
Balcony view
Felt secure
- Jo (8/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): -
- Anthony (8/5): -
- Rodger (5/5): Average Silver Street Suites - Location On arrival the door to our room was unlocked, the rooms smelt musty/damp, also the bathroom. Wall plug for bedside light nearest the heater not working.
The sheets on the bed were stained badly, see photos below, disgusting!
- shaun (9/5): - Excellent place and amazing value. Difficult to find parking, but it was bank holiday
The owners couldn't be more helpful though.
- Jayne (10/5): Great weekend we always stay here - Location is fantastic
- Paul (10/5): Overjoyed and would love to stay in room 16 again! - The accomodation was well located for all amenities we had 2 balconies one with an outdoor table and chairs and with a view and a long bathroom with a big shower! Beds were comfortable and clean Tea and coffee was great! The design of everything and adornments was superbly put together to give you a real by the sea feel! Could of done with an oscillating fan on a stand we had to leave the doors open to get some air movement and need to close the blinds in the sunny weather so its cooler when first entering!
- Lisa (9/5): - Location, phone answered quickly if we needed anything. Mattress was lumpy, pillows were flat and torn
- Sharon (6/5): - great location shower head wasnt detacable
- Victoria (6/5): If the room was in the main building away from the main entrance - Location Suite 4 very hot no fans in the room and could hear people coming and going
- Doug (10/5): Fantastic. No negatives at all . When we walked into the room and saw the view through the patio doors it just had that - The view was amazing.clean .straight forward getting in and this place will be the first place I will look at when returning to Whitby Nothing
- Richard (9/5): Nice place - Loved the balcony with views of the abbey WiFi password didn't work and the shower controls were on the outside of the shower for some bizarre reason
- Alison (8/5): Fantastic - Comfortable clean property very spacious
- David (8/5): -
- Carpenter (10/5): - Clean tidy tidy accommodation.
The staff that clean the property do a good job.
In a good location and perfect with a car park right next door. Would have preferred to book a room with a balcony. Which i will do next time.
- Kay (9/5): Lovely apartments, cost great, position great. Would recommend a comfy pillow each and some hanging rails. - The price, clean and the position The pillows were very uncomfortable and no hanging space.
- Robson (9/5): Good -
- Mark (7/5): Budget ++, Location +, Facilities - - Great location, comfortable affordable property, excellent shower. Good value for money balancing plus and minus No toaster, kettle didn’t fit under the tap, lack of a towel rail in the bathroom
- Granville (1/5): -
- Salwa (4/5): -
- whalley (10/5): Our stay was wonderful. We use this property whenever we stay in Whitby. - The property is well placed on the West Clff. Easy access to all of Whitby. Close to some really good eating places on Skinner Street. Either for breakfast, lunch or evening meal. No lift access
- Lorraine (9/5): - The view and location The staff member let herself into my room without knocking to ask me if I ordered something, I understand it was a mistake but just wished she would've knocked before waltzing in.
- Madin (10/5): - Easy and clear access and communication, location and comfy beds Pillows, wasnt keen on the pillows
- Michelle (10/5): - Fantastic cozy room , really comfy bed and really clean. Good size room with private balcony and good size bathroom. Great location. Would definitely stay again.
- John (10/5): -
- Tom (10/5): -
- Janet (10/5): - ABSOLUTELY LOVED OUR STAY HERE: REALLY CENTRAL - BUDGET PRICE WITH LOTS OF LOVELY TOUCHES: FREE WIFI, TEA/COFFEE ETC, BALCONY WITH FAB VIEWS, CLEAN, WARM, COMFY 👍 Nothing.
- Tracey (8/5): Excellent value for money and great location. - Location was great, central for everything, and value for money excellent. Our room was a great size had a fridge which I would recommend you check out as I believe not all rooms do. Car park next to Silver Street Suites is decent and reasonably priced and I believe you can pre book. Would book a south facing room with balcony next time. Room was a little too warm. Wish I’d taken my own pillow. Did take my sleep eye mask as no curtains only blinds so room got light early and would recommend taking. Bathroom could have done with somewhere to put towels and visitors toiletries.
- Charlton (9/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Lovley - Deluxe room is better
- Lee (10/5): Excellent again. - Clean. Good location. Parking nearby. Have stayed many times before and will again. Nothing
- Simon (10/5): Value for money, clean and comfortable - Very clean, private and safe, balcony views excellent Nothing
- Paul (8/5): Nice but maybe just needs a little tweak! - Location was perfect.....
Value for money was pretty good as it wasn't expensive.
Parking was convenient though it is a separate carpark and nothing to do with the accommodation I don't think £10.70 for 24 hours. I booked it as a Deluxe room.... and for all it was fine there was nothing deluxe about it. There was a kettle and 2 coffee cups and tea and coffee and that was it. In my opinion it should at least have a fridge to keep milk and drinks in!
There are no wardrobes or drawers just a clothes stand!
- Mckie (8/5): -
- Fox (5/5): - The room was clean and bed was comfortable. Location was fantastic We paid for a deluxe room. It is advertised as having a terrace and seating area. We didn't have either of these. No toilet roll holder or toilet brush. No drawers to put anything in.
- Claire (10/5): - Good location, comfortable bed, great shower All good
- Claire (9/5): -
