• Helen (2/5): - No kettle in room (despite listing saying there was). Arrived at 7.45pm but couldn’t get any food as kitchen had closed (expected a gastro pub to serve until 8.30 on a Saturday!). Went down to the bar to have a cup of tea before bed but couldn’t get one there (despite sign outside saying pop in for tea or coffee). Very noisy, every door banged. Booked for 2 adults but only got 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel in room. Sign outside says it’s a B&B but no breakfast available - can’t even get a cup of tea or coffee in the morning - staff looked at us like we’ve got 3 heads when we asked. Stinks of weed everywhere, even in our room as chap was smoking it outside for most of the night.

• Ali (2/5): Horror show - Upon arrival at the car park, there is a car with its windows smashed, with broken glass and blood everywhere. It feels unsafe everywhere, even when you're in your own room. Rooms are located above a pub, that suddenly becomes a nightclub at around 10pm. You can hear and even feel the loud banging music and people screaming in the rooms until 2am. Then, at 8am the music starts again. We got almost no sleep and checked out after first night and ran for our lives.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Overall not very good, but a comfy bed - Bed was comfy but thats all it had going for it. Checking in staff at bar didnt seem very happy. Room was extremely basic, blood or orange stain on towel. Only 1 towel for two us. Shower door didnt close, Extremely noisy until around 2am and the smell of cigarettes poured in through the windows. Okay as a bed to sleep in if your at a concert so you get back late.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty room, unresponsive staff - The room stank of cigarettes and was not clean. There was dust everywhere, yellow-brown dripping stains on the ceiling of the room and wall of the bathroom, and I found loads of hair on the shower wall that had not been cleaned. Also, if you have an issue when the pub is closed you will not be able to reach staff. They have an emergency number and email that is on a sign in the room but nobody will pick up the phone or reply until the pub is open anyway so there is no point. My key for the main entrance didn’t work so I just had to stand in the rain and wait until another guest heard me knocking and let me in.
• Shannon (2/5): - Overall very poor. The music from the bar was far too loud until very late. Staff were poor - one staff member who checked us in was helpful but all other staff were unhelpful and quite rude. Room was very hot with no A/C. Power all went off in the night with the fire panel beeping consistently since early hours and nothing was done and no apologies/explanations from staff. This resulted in no hot water to shower in the morning and no lights. Our bathroom window was also situated directly above the smoking area which was less than ideal. All doors to get into the property were extremely difficult to use and we had to rely on other guests to help us figure out how to operate them rather than staff.

• Gordon (8/5): - This is a no-frills hotel with none of the usual things you’d normally expect like tea making facilities etc, but having said that I checked in early with no problems, the young barmaid who assisted was friendly and helpful, the room was quite a good size and the bed was comfy and the sheets clean, and the shower was as good as anywhere with a good flow and hot water. Free parking too. Our room was on the top floor and was very quiet, but since the hotel is above a lively pub i guess other rooms may not be. Short walk for transport to central London

• Deb (6/5): - The Barrington is situated in High Barnet about 10 min stroll from the tube station - northern line giving great access to London. The area surrounding was nice with lots of places to eat. The hotel was clean. The bathroom was not great, it had no privacy glass and with quite a low window any plans to have a shower or use the toilet had to be done in full view of oncoming traffic. We were only given 2 towels (1 bath towel 1hand towel) with 2 of us using the room for 4 days reusing the same towel during a heat wave was grim. We left early each day before the pub had opened so I left a note for a second towel; unfortunately nobody came to clean the room in those 4 days. A blind needs fitting in the toilet of room 8 and more than 2 towels needs providing for a 2 person room. Other than that a pleasant enough stay.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Expensive for nothing - This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Clean sure but poor service delivery. Zero value for money. Paid almost 60£ for this closet room with a tiny bed and there’s nothing in the room except a big tv. The room is so tiny I can barely stretch my arms. Nonexistent service. Internet doesn’t work. I think they are better off as a pub.
• Mark (4/5): - Check-in was easy and quick. Initial impressions were good and the room was a good size, although later having seen inside the door next door, which was empty for the duration of our stay, it was bigger, with a better layout. The room has nice blinds, but they do not block out anywhere near enough light; and being mid summer, it was light just after 4am. There’s a thermostat on the wall, but no visible signs of any heating or cooling appliances apart from a radiator. We were provided with 2 towels, one a hand towel and the other only slightly bigger - not good enough for two adults. And finally, because it was a hot night, we tried to sleep with the windows open, only to have people sitting in the smoking area talking until gone 5am. Our experience was so bad, that we ended our stay early and didn’t stay for the second night.

• Jason (6/5): Not great. - Rooms were clean and sufficient for what I needed (Bed, shower, toilet etc). But I was unable to be kept dark at night due to ineffient blinds and a green LED in the center of the ceiling that was constantly on. Was fairly noisy outside but wasn't too surprised by this. And the large firm pillows were unusable/unsuitable for me.

• Billie (4/5): Not great - Whilst the room was clean and nice our overall stay was very disappointing. We had very little interaction with check in staff, was handed the key and the lady walked away without any further communication. Had to access 3 different doors to get to the room and all locks were difficult to navigate. Our room was very public at the front entrance so very noisy when other guests were coming/going. The blind did not work so we flelt very exposed as people could see into our room when the lights were on. When checking out in the morning there were no staff available and the pub attached was not yet open so there was nowhere to safely leave the keys. We had to post them through the pub door letterbox as had no other option and no alternative was explained to us upon check in.

Shown to entrance door of accommodations and left to find room by myself after brief description of where room could be found. Although room has been refurbished, paint was on floor and furniture. 2 seater settee dirty with cup rings and other stains. No kettle provided, so unable to make a hot drink, which for a very early riser was not good. Had to go to local garage for coffee and food. No breakfast served. Ingress of cigarette smoke from patio smoking area not nice. Only redeeming feature was the bed which was very comfortable.

Not very clean, very very dusty on top of wardrobe, no hot water on first night, in shower. Bit intimidating having a bouncer looking me over and not initially wanting to let me in with my suitcase despite saying I was checking in

• Richard (8/5): - My room was large, clean with a comfortable bed. As expected, it's a b&b service attached to a large busy pub in a busy area. There was a lot of noise from the pub. I assumed there would be. It stopped around 11pm. Calling the pub a gastro pub is pushing it otherwise all good. Nice staff. There are negative reviews floating around that I consider unfair. There are no other options nearby. If you have sensible expectations this place is decent.

• Lawrence (8/5): Great place - I booked the room Saturday evening, three hours before I arrived. The bar was busy and it took a little while to get my keys and find my room, but overall I can't fault the cleanliness and comfort of the place and the friendliness of the staff.
• Verified traveler (8/5): No hairdryer - The offering said it included hair dryer and my order explicitly stated the need of hairdryer. But it couldn’t provide any hairdryer! The rest are value for money
• Graham (4/5): - Was shown to an inferior room to the one i had booked and then after insisting on a better one, was given an alternative that was an improvement but not as clean as would be expected and there were some old blood stains on the towels.
• Addison (4/5): - This location was quite expensive for the poor condition it was in. The beds were made, but the floor wasn't clean, there was no kettle and no liner in the bin. The bathroom stunk so badly and there were open holes around the pipes. We didn't try the shower because it was so difficult to even be in the bathroom with how badly it smelled. While we were there, another resident showering set off the fire alarm at 6:30am and after spending 30 minutes contacting the phone numbers provided by the hotel and receiving no response, we had to call the police and the fire brigade to turn it off. The fire brigade was annoyed that the zone maps and other things were not up to code. There is no lift and a lot of thin stairwells. The only things we liked about it was that there was a small car park behind the building and that the tube was a 15 minute walk up the road. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't stay here again, especially not at this price.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty, poor service - We had 3 rooms and all Rooms were dirty: - bedding stained and dirty - towels stained and dirty - floor dirty - window sills covered in dust and dead bugs Requested clean bedding at check in and didn’t receive it until gone 10pm after chasing 4 times and still had to change it ourselves. Only one towel and a hand towel per room despite being double rooms. Very noisy as pub played music until 1am. Number listed goes to an ex employees mobile. No glasses or kettle or anything in the room. No irons or hair dryers. Old stained sofa bed in room. Stained chair in room. Bathroom had been cleaned but cleaning product left all over the toilet seat. Awful lime scale.

• Sudhakar (2/5): Not suitable for Family - worst experiance - My self and my 10 years old son stayed this hotel, My son has exam at QE boys on 19th hence I booked this hotel, as this is near by hotel. Room bed covers and pillow are not cleaned, bit dirty and main thing was there was one stranger walking on balcony and he is keep knocking the door at 4 AM. This was really disturbed our sleep and my son was bit worried. We don't recommend this for family.
• Shamma (4/5): - I booked a luxury king size room with a sofa bed, I was given a double bed room, no toiletries, stained towels, very noisy, no tea & coffee facility in the room & is still given 3 star!!! The rating should no exceed 1-2 star! It’s inappropriate to walk through the pub to check in, however the lady was nice.
• Sushil (2/5): - Stench that doesn’t go away, caused severe headache in the morning. Not really hotel since no phone in the room to call for any issues. Not suitable for travelling with family/children. Only spent the night here rather than moving to another hotel because I didn’t want to disturb my son’s mood who was travelling with me and appearing for a very imp exam on the next morning.

• David Chand (2/5): A lot of work needed - Stayed 5 nights, but only had hot water for one day! Heating only worked for two days out of the five. New build and they where still working on new rooms, very loud and distincting! Last night the front gate was locked and i was lead up fire escape to my room. Refund would have been nice!
• Anthony (8/5): Some small fixes to be perfect - We have a 7 week old so specifically booked the "Superior Double Room, Ensuite" as on info says "1 King Bed, 1 Double Sofa Bed and 1 Single Sofa Bed". Excellent enough space to admin baby, for me to bail to the sofa bed if wife and baby needed the king to settle. On arrival were shown Room 7, a fairly compact room, insufficient space for us, not what I believed I had booked. I mentioned this to the check in lady, she had twins available, but not the one with King and two sofa beds I had booked. Fortunately another guest was asked if would swop his king with sofa bed room (13) with us, and kindly he agreed. Other than that we would have had to bail to relatives an hour away. Now on the receipt the "1 King Bed, 1 Double Sofa Bed and 1 Single Sofa Bed" element is referenced as a request, and notes that requests may not be met. This is not at all clear from the hotels.com process, and should be clarified. Aside from this issue, the room was clean, the shower was hot, bed very comfortable. At 25DegC overnight also very hot, provision of fans would be a nice touch, none were available. Entry could be difficult, as 4 doors from street to bed, with narrowish/steepish stairs. Bar staff were amazing, esp the brunette with tattoed wrists, she offered a cushion to assist the holding of baby. No noise issue from Room 13 but some smoke smells even at 7am from below. Street Parking was easy. Would probably stay again, if I could be certain of what I was booking, which atm I wouldnt be.
