Guest Reviews
- Fiedler (10/5): Fantastic Place - Great People - Lots of Fun - We've had such a great time at Gayan's place. He and Sahan offered exceptional service. We've had a lot of fun, the breakfast was great and we highly recommend to book tours with Gayan and Sahan. Thank you so much!
- lorena (10/5): Thanks to all the staff for an amazing experience! - Very in the jungle ... off the road!
- Charuka (9/5): -
- Alafi (10/5): - Extremely helpful and attentive staff, were able to help us with parking and also book us a very last minute rafting trip. Located next to a beautiful river and in the wilderness. The dinner was delicious.
- Jarek (10/5): jungle experience in safe conditions - if you want to taste the night in the jungle in controlled conditions - this is your place. eco cabins are remote, small guesthouse with super friendly staff who will lead you from the road, along small winding path with huge trees on both sides and small wooden bridge at the end. and don’t worry for your luggage - they will help you 💪
once you’re inside, you’ll have a splendod view of the jungle and it sounds will accompany you to sleep
cabins are a great starting place for kitulgala rafting and canyoning, so of you want to experience kitulgala - be sure no to miss it that we couldn’t stay longer because of our plans
- hilde (8/5): Connect to nature in this beautiful eco-cabin - Quite comfortable rooms with WiFi, electricity and mosquito nets;
Good rain protection although open windows (it rained a lot the whole night);
Contact with nature;
Bathroom painted in nice dark green;
Very nice dinner;
Very nice rafting and canyoning-experience. The double beds are small and short;
The wooden walls are not really isolating (in our case another family arrived quite late and made quite some noise, so we had a short night sleep).
- Sivachandran (1/5): Bad -
- Bood (9/5): Really eco cabin and wonderful staff! - Exotic place, almost off grid
- Victoria (10/5): Right by the rive, very rustic brilliant - Very basic but very cool place Nothing
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - It was right in the middle of the rain forest and and Gayan and his team were very attentive and couldn’t do enough to assist! Food was also amazing and they organised canyoning and rafting for us and our kids It was open to the elements so take your bug spray!
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional - Everything!
- Raquel (1/5): Bad - we booked the rafting with them for 4pm, we did a 4h
trip and change our schedule , skip some attractions to arrive on time and they canceled when we arrive. we don’t even stay there after this lie
- Eliza (10/5): One of the absolute best places I have ever stayed in my entire 20+ years of travelling. - I loved absolutely everything about this place. The owner, Gayan, is an absolute delight. He was soooooo helpful to us with everything we needed. The property is located in the woods, you have to hike there. These guys put our three suitcases on their heads, and carried them to our room, then back out when we were leaving. The place was clean. Gayan made our vreakfast, lunch and dinner. The food tasted incredible. Don’t book any activities in advance, because they have so much to offer for a better price than you would find online. I am so deeply thankful for the owner, Gayan, he made our stat, with a torn ligament on the foot, in the middle of the forest, a delight.
- Ahmed (8/5): Very good - If you're looking for an extremely raw experience in the middle of the nature, by the river, I recommend these cabins. I was on a road trip, so I stayed for 1 night. Gayan and Poul are great hosts, offered rafting activities, and helped me find a car. The coffee.
- Thilina (10/5): Exceptional - I recently stayed at this charming property in Kitulgala, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the serene surroundings and warm hospitality. The rustic yet cozy setup of the rooms offered a perfect blend of comfort and nature. The wooden interiors and thoughtful touches gave the space a unique, homely vibe, making it an ideal retreat for relaxation.
The highlight of the stay was undoubtedly the dining experience. The breakfast spread was delightful, with freshly prepared dishes like omelets, sausages, toast, and jam served with tea. The attention to detail in presentation and the freshness of the ingredients were truly impressive. Dining amidst the natural greenery added a special charm to every meal.
The property itself is well-maintained, with a focus on eco-friendliness. I loved how the open design allowed me to feel connected to the surrounding forest while still enjoying modern comforts. The mosquito net over the bed ensured a peaceful night’s sleep, which is a thoughtful addition considering the tropical environment.
Overall, this was more than just a stay—it was an experience. Whether you’re looking to unwind, explore nature, or simply enjoy a cozy getaway, this place in Kitulgala is highly recommended. I’ll definitely be returning and encourage others to experience this hidden gem. Thank you for making my visit so memorable!
- Thilina (10/5): Exceptional - The location is unbeatable! The hotel sits right along the river, offering stunning views from the rooms and the outdoor spaces. the natural beauty surrounding the hotel is simply breathtaking.The rooms were clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated.The staff were friendly, accommodating, and always ready to assist with any requests. I appreciated their attention to detail, whether it was providing local recommendations for dining or making sure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Their service really made me feel welcome.Overall, If you're looking for a beautiful riverside getaway that doesn’t break the bank, this hotel is an excellent choice. It offers great amenities, a peaceful location, and top-notch service at an affordable price. Highly recommended for those seeking value for money without compromising comfort or quality! There is nothing that i could say wrong about this Place
- Tony (1/5): Bad - Unfortunately I couldn't stay at this place. After I made the reservation I called them, they said they're fully occupied. But it was available on booking.com.
After they said fully booked I checked on booking.com and some rooms were still available. But they said full. How is it possible ? I really want to show this to other customers who want to stay at this place in the future. Becareful guys. They are not well maintained with online bookings. If you book and go there you will not get the place to stay here .
- Dissanayakage (3/5): Overpriced ! - Great food , great location, calm and quiet place to relax As they mentioned no hairdryer, no slippers and we had a big communication problem
- Dries (10/5): Stay in Nature with the best Host you can imagine! - For us it was the best stay on pur trip in Sri Lanka, the eco lodge is located next to the river and you wake up with the beautiful sounds of nature. Accommodation is basic but the location is absolute Beautifull, Gaian is an absolute top hoste and helped out with everything of providing food and looking for some nice activities. Cannot recommend a place more like this. /
- Akila (9/5): Superb -
- Georgia (8/5): Very good - The house is located in the middle of the rainforest, just some meters away from the river! The host, Dayan, was very friendly and helpful. He came to pick us up from the main street and offered us some hot tea and coffee as a welcome gesture. Our rooms were clean and minimal, with a nice design. In the morning we had rafting in the Kelani river, held by the owner of the place which was a cool experience! The breakfast was also adequately served! Dayan, in general was super kind! There are no shielded windows neither mosquito nets in some beds, so if you’re scared of the bugs simply use a lot of repellent! During the journey the leeches are also a problem, as usually in the forests around the country. We had no blankets during the night and it got quite cold:(
- Dananjaya (10/5): Exceptional - Clam & Quite Environment. Rooms are clean. Food was delicious. Friendly staff. Everything is ok. Wifi little bit slow. May be heavy rain effect to signal.
- Chinthaka (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly and helpfull staff. Amazing Breakfast and Dinner. Lovely river in swim. Superb
