Guest Reviews
- Stephanie (9/5): - The view from the apartment was lovely, and the garden was beautiful. The set up was comfortable and well sufficient for our needs. I was keen to take the walk from the apartment to Russell but we did not have time this trip. The Host was very friendly and helpful. The driveway was a bit of a surprise, especially as we arrived well after dark. There was not a great deal of turning room at the bottom for our car.
- Gerdien (10/5): - Wat een plek! Zo mooi! Prachtig uitzicht en heerlijk appartement. Super vriendelijke en behulpzame eigenaresse.
- Nicola (10/5): - An absolute amazing location in bush. We all wished we could have stayed longer.

- Irina (10/5): Like everything about the stay. - Unique place, excellent host, quiet, beautiful.

- Sharon (10/5): A comfortable apartment with a gorgeous view of the bay - Beautiful views, even in the torrential rain storm we experienced while staying there! Paula was a gracious and engaging host. We very much enjoyed the two nights we spent in her place.
- Gina (10/5): -
- Anne-Louise (9/5): - Location great. Good views, close to Opua ferry.
Comfy beds.
Well-equipped. Good shower.
Can walk down through garden to start of track to Kororāreka. It was winter when we visited so it was a bit chilly. Fan heaters available for rooms but a bit noisy.
- Beeby (5/5): Very nice but could use a bit of an update - The view Heating
- Grahame (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable apartment with a beautiful view and a lovely deck to sit out.
The kitchen had everything you needed for a stay plus plenty towels in the bathroom/laundry. The lounge was lovely and the bedroom very cosy with a super comfy bed. Paula's home baked muffins were delicious. We would definitely stay here again. The property is so handy for the Opua car ferry and Russell. We liked everything.
- Sarah (9/5): A restful place that had nature all around. - Location was stunning. The view of the Harbour with boats, sea and bush was wonderful. At night kiwi were calling all around. Mangrove groves on the beach. Also a wonderful garden to walk around
- Blake (10/5): There were dolphins swimming in the bay 10 mins away from the house. - Great spot, beautiful location, lovely host, spacious and well equipped. We would love to come back for longer next time.
- Michelle (9/5): Superb - Very accomodating host who was prompt to reply to messages and who organised a late checkout without any bother. The apartment contained everything that was needed and the complimentary muffins were appreciated. If you are looking for budget friendly apartment accomodation, this is a great, private location. The bottom carpark was very difficult to turn around in - would recommend using the top carpark!
- Don (9/5): Wonderful location with great amenities and a welcoming host, though the double bed was uncomfortabl - Excellent location in a quiet area, with a beautiful deck, garden, and scenic views. Well-equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge and bedroom, and charming artwork and decor throughout. The host was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The double bed was uncomfortable due to loose springs.
- Brigitte (9/5): Lovely location with good value accommodation - Location, convenience, ambiance
- Glenda (6/5): Overall it was good - The view from the balcony is amazing
- Nohmi (10/5): Beautiful experience - The view was absolutely spectacular. The accommodation was very clean & private. The host Paula was absolutely amazing. We were greeted with a yummy treat. And the whole experience was wonderful. Definitely recommend.
- Leanne (10/5): Perfectly located and the Russell village was only down the road. Hospitable host. - Location was perfect and quiet . Great to see the sunset and sunrise changing the outlook of the water view. A large and magical garden leading to the waters edge was lovely. Great and adequate facilities and kitchen . A well earned hot shower was perfect following our hiking. An extra bed was required at short notice so we used the couch which seemed comfortable, Thankyou very much to the Host (Paula) who was very communicative, flexible and available. Four square was only 8 mins down the road so we considered that to be handy. Tried out the local fish and chips in Russell. We loved that it had off road parking however it was a little tricky for the bottom carpark. We kept to the top car park for the duration which was no problem. We appreciated the muffins on arrival along with the cold water. We made an effort to conserve water . We considered there to be ample room for a group of 4. Nice to chill on the deck and also to see the birds and hear the birdsong.
- Cingolani (9/5): Value for money - The view Nice location nest and tidy

- Gabrielle (9/5): The perfect rest-stop on our hiking adventure, lovely laid-back hostess and great kitchen facilities - Spacious, well appointed, comfy beds, beautiful views and amazing breakfast! Would be great to have window screens to prevent bugs in room on a hot night
- Inge-ann (10/5): Lovely little getaway destination to unwind with loads to do in the area! - It was the best view from a comfy couch! It was exceptional in every way- no bad comments
- David (9/5): Beautiful views, great place to stay, deep clean would make the stay outstanding - Views, garden, host amenities etc all good The property was great but needs a thorough clean.
Spiders in every corner of the rooms, I was bitten by something each night and we were visited by a few cockroaches.
But overall it was great and we would def be back 😊
- Honorei (8/5): Beautiful stay - Perfect location. Beautiful views. Well equiped. Very nice host Beds were noisy, mattress a bit uncomfortable. Could hear footsteps above during night.
- Joanne (7/5): Good - The views were amazing.
The host was very helpful and friendly.
The apartment that we had was a decent size. You have to drive everywhere.
The driveway down to apartment is very tight.
The double bed , whilst comfortable was the squeakiest , noisiest bed ever.
And the main one , it was advertised as a 2 bedroom apartment. When we arrived it had a single bed in the living area.
We spoke to the host immediately who explained as we were only 3 of us ( 19 yr old daughter) she had left it like that , if there were 4 people she would open up the other room for which there usually is a charge? She did offer it to us for free but it is the other side of a staircase which is actually in her own house? And the door between needs to be shut? My daughter stayed in the single bed as didn't feel comfortable. This really wouldn't work with young children? I feel it really shouldn't be sold as a 2 bedroom?
It worked really well for us as it was set up.
- Chris (7/5): Good -
- Kay (9/5): Would recommend this small apartment for any short term visit. - Did not have breakfast, location was great, view was lovely, lots of bird life. everything suited us well.
- Martyn (8/5): Very good -
- Warwick (10/5): Worth a return trip sometime. Beautiful. - Beautiful garden and view. Very comfortable and had everything we needed. Quiet surroundings.
- Riannon (9/5): Superb - The view from the balcony is spectacular the hostess is kind and helpful, even leaving us home cooked muffins and helping us with recommendations for a bay of islands cruise!
As 3 adults the 2nd separate single bed in the living space/kitchen lacked a little privacy, but our hostess offered to open up the 2nd bedroom for a small extra fee before we even raised this as an option so we're then very comfortable. The washer worked well but the drier did not. Thankfully an airer and portable fan heater were on hand and sufficient.
- Grant (8/5): Fantastic view, quiet location, lovely host, very enjoyable -
- Christine (8/5): Very good -

- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Julian (9/5): Superb - A very pleasant place to go and stay. Nice garden and close by a walking track that takes you through the forest. The local community are doing a great job at eradicating pests and invasive plants there. You would need your own transportation to stay there.
- Katrina (5/5): Disappointing - Great view from the deck. Close to ferry. Very tired, damp smell in cupboards and bathroom. Very uncomfortable couch. Cobwebs and spiders all over. Bed was noisy and uncomfortable and linen very tired. Would have been good to know that the property is in tank water so that you can factor this in your decision making when booking. host is lovely but dog barks a lot which isn’t great when they are upstairs.
- Chris (9/5): Superb -

We loved sitting on the wooden terrace, listening to the birdsong and enjoying the beautiful view. We would have loved to stay longer.
The car ferry is just around the corner.
- Susan (8/5): Incredible view - Truly amazing view and had all the things we needed.
- Andrea (10/5): AMAZING VIEWS - Lovely large property, really comfortable. Owner was brilliant and so friendly. The views were AMAZING. It's a most definite place to stay. Nothing
- Kathy (9/5): Superb - Lovely outlook, stunning garden
- Jacquie (7/5): Pipiroa Bay Homestay - The scenery was absolutely stunning. The garden and its many trails were fabulous, and once down to the beach, it was such a lovely contemplative place.
Paula was so friendly and helpful and provided useful information in her information pack that was left for us to read. It was easy to check in, too. The accommodation is functional with all amenities readily available. It is basic compared to our previous accommodation in Milford. The only feedback for improvement I could give to Paula would be to check the cleanliness of the inside of the oven after previous guests had used it.
