• HERNAN (10/5): - Excelente hotel en lugar envidiable a la bahía que es lo más valora le ademas de la atención de Vicky. La vista espectacular. Problemático es el acceso pero es el precio a pagar. Si llegas en auto, hay que pedir permiso a la seguridad para poder bajar casi a nivel del mar por pocos minutos para dejar el equipaje y luego dejar vehículo en parking en la parte superior. A partir de ahí llevarás el equipaje 2 a 4 pisos de altura a tu habitación a pie. Una vez instalado para subir al centro de Oía tenes una escalera amplia de 220 escalones a pie o en burro. Toda esta incomodidad se paga ampliamente cuando disfrutes en la terraza del movimiento portuario y la bahía . Muy disfrutable.
• lynn (8/5): - The place was nice and was in a very cool location on the water however it was not clear where to go when dropped by the taxi and there were at least 50 stairs (no elevator) that had to be maneuvered with luggage. The stairs are not all the same sizes and woupd be terrible for elderly Transfers from the airport or port are expenses. This location is at the bottom of Oia. And it’s f yiu need to go tot he top yiu have to take the cobblestone stairs that are in ver 200 stairs going one way. I’m r walk on the street for about 20-30 min We did like the catamaran tour of the black red and white sand beach although it did say you got to sit in the hot springs there was no time for that The host was very helpful

• marcelo d da cruz da (2/5): - Please check carefully before renting this property, as there are some things they didn't tell us about. They say they have parking outside, but they don't mention that it's about four blocks up the mountain, where you can only park at the bottom to unload your bags, walk one block, and climb three flights of stairs. Additionally, they have no one to help you. They have a free shuttle service to the parking lot, but it doesn't run in the morning or at night. Also, please take good care of your belongings on the property. It was a very bad experience; I don't recommend it.

Lo único poco cómodo es el hecho de tener que subir aprox 250 escalones para ir al pueblo de Oia donde se encuentra la mayoría de tiendas, restaurantes, transporte público, etc. Vicki fue súper amable y me ayudó muchísimo organizando mis traslados desde y hacia el aeropuerto, 100% recomiendo hacerlo.

• Nadine (10/5): - We had a wonderful one night stay at Lava Stone. We chose Ammoudi Bay over the main town Oia for the quiet setting and beautiful view, away from the overrun main town. All catamarans etc come into this bay for the sunset and we were able to watch it from the privacy of our own terrace. The hike up the big cobblestone steps to the main town is a bit exhausting - you can ride a mule up the hill instead if you wish… Do take advantage of them organizing a pick up for you from the port / airport. Not cheap, but very pleasant ride. Be aware that the car cannot reach the property and you have to carry your luggage up several flights of stairs. We only had a backpack, so that was no issue for us.

• Meghan (8/5): - Beautiful water views. We loved sitting outside on the patio and we even saw a cruise ship leaving one evening. The rooms were beautiful and cleaned every day with great AC in each room. The downside of this location is that you’ll need to pay for transportation up to Oia every time you want to go somewhere. Spent hundreds of Euros in just three days and never went further south than the ferry port. We did the stairs twice, but you’re not going to want to do that climb every time you want to go somewhere. Walking down is easier and you can also walk along in the street which we did. But there is no car parking down in Ammoudi Bay. There are four restaurants. We ate at one for lunch and it was over 130€ for 3 drinks, bread, hummus and two salads. Other than those four restaurants there is a small shop that has a limited amount of ice cream, coffee, and a few deli sandwiches. Also there are 20-30 steps up to the rooms. They will help you with your luggage. It’s a nice place to stay. It’s just not convenient to exploring Santorini.
• Carmen (10/5): - Even though we had to lug our luggage up the steps to the hotel, we loved it! No complaints here. Vicky in reception reached out to me a week before to arrange transportation from the airport to the hotel as well as our transfer to the ferry. She also arrange to have our luggage brought down to the shuttle on our departure. The restaurants below the hotel were wonderful. Wish we had more time to spend at Lava Stone to enjoy the sunrise. Walking the 250 steps up to take pictures by the blue domes were well worth it. Loved everything about Greece. Recommendation, do your shopping in Athens because it’s so much cheaper than the islands.

• Jennifer (10/5): - This apartment situated over Amoudi bay on Santorini, was a perfect location to people watch and see the many kinds of boats come and go including the impressive cruise ships when all lit up at night. The 270+ steps up to Oia is a good workout but you can always ride a donkey or take a taxi. Very close to restaurants, smoothies, ice cream and coffee shops. As well a short walk along the cliffs to a swimming spot. This apartment was incredibly clean and was equipped with hair dryer, slippers, soaps and extra blankets for cooler evenings. The deck had a swing making a nice spot to watch the sea. Vickie was so helpful with check in letting us know about the area and things to do. She booked us drivers when needed and had our bags handled for us on checkout. Thank you Vickie for being so kind and helpful! A charming spot! We loved being there.

I’m truly greatful for the late check-in where reception was ready to great us and check-in after midnight, she was friendly and welcoming. You can’t ask for more for definitely worth the price!
• Francisco (8/5): - It is difficult to rate this hotel. All rooms have a big balcony/patio and provide some of the most astonishing views I've seen. The ocean, the views to the caldera and the castle, the sunsets, really beautiful. I was actually sad the day before leaving the place, couldn't get enough of that view. To me, it is the hotel with the most beautiful view I have stayed at. The staff was friendly and provided a courtesy wine to enjoy while seeing the views from the balcony. So, why not 5 stars? Some 5 sets of stairs have to be walked to reach the room, not ideal when carrying bags. Hotel is located at Ammoudi Bay, a beautiful spot, but cars are not allowed to access the bay. A van will take you from a parking lot, some 600m away from the hotel, to the bay. This works fine unless you have to leave early in the morning. We had to leave at 5am. Van services were not available and walking to the parkade from the bay carrying the bags was not a nice experience. Expect to hear sounds at night. I had to unplug the fridge as it kept waking me up and some transformer outside the room was also noisy. Windows don't have much sound insulation and the bay is windy, so you will hear wind and ocean sounds throughout the night. Anyhow, small things here and there. Just things to keep in mind and be prepared. Overall, I would say these are small details that I would gladly endure to gaze upon that view again. If you can carry bags and don’t wake up easily, you will love the experience.
• Diane (10/5): - Lava stone is a beautiful property in Ammoudi Bay. Away from the craziness of Oia, it is an oasis on the Aegean. Hearing the ocean while you drift off to sleep is a luxury in itself. The hotel staff was extremely accommodating, welcoming and kind. Would highly recommend.

Por ser em um local na baía de Ammoudi, bem abaixo de Oia, é necessário saber que ou descerá muitas escadas ou terá que ir de automóvel. Como tinha alugado um carro, minha experiência com a Lava Stone foi perfeita. Com muitos restaurantes ao redor, com um pôr do sol incrível. Voltaria com toda certeza e recomendo a experiência aos demais.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. The are A LOT of steps to get to this hotel, so if that is a problem, don’t stay here. The VIEWS and atmosphere are so worth the stairs!

Think twice before choosing this hotel. First, the pros: the room is beautifully decorated, with a large bathtub, and the bed is very big, comfortable, and clean. The staff are also very friendly, but note that they are not stationed at the hotel full-time, so there is no long-term luggage storage service. I booked this hotel to enjoy the sunset view, but the sunset was blocked by other buildings. I've attached a photo of the actual view from my room for reference. As for the hotel's location, it's a nightmare. There are only two ways to walk to the hotel from the Oia bus station: one involves nearly 20 minutes of stairs, with donkeys passing by, and the other takes a similar amount of time with cars passing along the way. Even if you drive, you have to park in a parking, then take a free shuttle to the nearby port and walk up the stairs. I highly discourage anyone with mobility issues or lots of luggage from choosing this hotel, especially under the sun.

• Stephanie (10/5): - The staff is incredibly helpful with anything you need (shout out to Vicky) and the view from the room and porch incredible. Perfect for romantics and honeymooners. Be aware that it is at sea level so convenient to swimming and taking boat day trips but you need to spend $20-$30 euros a day to get up the hill (donkey or taxi) if you want to have more food options, shop or travel to other locals and don’t want a strenuous climb. In my view, it’s worth that spend for the view alone, and being able to swim in the bay first thing in the morning.

• Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing views. Great area to visit. Early morning views and sunset/evenings are not to be missed. Genuinely think this is the best place in Santorini (ie area wise). Staff were great. Cleaning everyday. Fresh towels. Water and coffee pods provided. Few points: there is a decent number of stairs (high stairs) to get to the rooms like anywhere in Santorini. Amoudi bay is down on the edge of a mountain. Every time you have to go to Oia it’s a 20-30 euro 4 minute car drive, or a 20-30 minute street hike, or a mountain of stairs to climb (has donkeys/horses that you can ride up there for 10 euros /person). So keep that in mind too.

• Diana (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at lava stone in Ammoudi bay. The property is very nice and clean. Georgia the housekeeper was super kind and helpful. Niko’s was very kind and welcoming and they were able to accommodate us for an earlier check in since we arrived early in the morning. If you plan on going to Oia on foot be prepared to climb 250 stairs to reach there or pay for a taxi every time . It is also a bit further from the airport and a cab will cost you €55. The options near by for food are a bit limited but overall our experience was great . The view from them rooms is unbeatable and the peace and quiet as well.

We were captivated by the breathtaking views from our room. Our room was not only impeccably clean and beautifully decorated but also offered stunning views of the sunset. The hotel's location was perfect for exploring Oia. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly enjoying breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Aegean Sea, a truly magical way to start the day. Without a doubt, lava stone exceeded all our expectations, and we cannot wait to return to this slice of paradise.
