Guest Reviews
- FloodyDez (9/5): Cosy seaside cottage a real treat - Lovely cottage with great location next to the beach and coastal path. Great communication from the hosts Mike & Keith. Lovely touches like sweets and treats for the dog. Views from the attic room over the beach and Southern Scotland. Lots of stairs up and down so older people would struggle. WiFi poor.
- rod (10/5): - The cottage was quirky had downstairs kitchen had everything we needed even with our dog nice touch for dog bags etc treat squash for us living room treats we had on table was nice touch WiFi great sofa comfortable.first upstairs bedroom perfect blinds block sun out.even had own bathroom.next floor had wooden steps was ok had work out how to walk up carefully only time see sea view was from attic bedroom window which not sea view cottage but did have own shower and toilet which was great sea was just across road.the beds was too comfortable we didn't want to leave the bed .I would happily stay at this cottage again thank you. Nothing not to like.
- Donna (10/5): Fantastic seaside stay - Fantastic location. Beautiful cottage, really well equipped and exceptionally clean. Comfortable living area and bedrooms. View from the attic window is superb. Nothing!
- emily (10/5): Our stay was lovely. The hosts are nice and helpful. The cottage is close to everything we need. The beach was a 2 minut - The cottage was really pretty, spacious and well presented. We liked everything about it and will be going back
- Ann (8/5): - Great location and lovely little cottage.
- sarah Unwin (10/5): - A lovely little cottage by the sea..Very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you might possibly need, bathroom was spotless and the beds were little clouds of heaven!
The property is situated minutes from the beach and there is a pub and shop in walking distance. The hosts were fantastic, so helpful and really accommodating I would highly recommend this property!!
- Rob (8/5): I came with my son for a couple of day away. We did some walking, experienced the local pub and food - Quirky liitle house in alovely location virtually on the beach
- Andreas (10/5): -
- James (9/5): Brilliant beach side cottage - Everything was to a high standard and Mike and Keith were very helpful throughout. All in all, great value for money and great service. The views once you got on the beach 2 minutes away were spectacular. The second suite was in the attic and I am quite tall so I banged my head a few times and from inside the house there wasn't much great scenery. Once you step outside though it was brilliant. Other than that a great experience.
- lynne (10/5): Great cottage at a fantastic price, Allonby is a fabulous place to visit, the beach is exceptional. There are two pubs w - The property was very nicely furnished and comfortable, it had everything you needed for a great holiday, it was a stones throw to the beautiful beach too. The owners kept in touch throughout our stay which was lovely. There’s nothing to dislike about the property.
- Mowanapot (10/5): My stay was beautiful, value for our money 😍 - Location, cleanness, the rooms The Internet was a struggle
- Amy (8/5): - Great location, beds were comfy, everything clean. Not much but the fridge/freezer wasn't very cold.
- Crossley (9/5): Lovely cottage NEAR the sea - Comfortable cottage - lovely decoration- felt very homey - great to come back to after long walks by the sea Description mentions private beach area which is not correct
There is only one attic window that faces the sea so I wouldn’t even describe it as a seafront cottage
BUT it is very close to the sea and just a few minutes walk - so we didn’t really have a problem but felt the description was misleading
- Potter (8/5): - Lovely village location with quick beach access for morning walks and the lake district on the door step. Cottage was cosy. Shame there was no sea view. My knees did not like all the stairs
- Alexandra (1/5): -
- Jana (9/5): Great location, unique property - We have spent 4 nights in the Criffel cottage on a family holidays.
The location is fabulous, close to Lake district, local walks and right next to the beach.
We also enjoyed the quirky layout of the property which has absolutely everything you might need during your short break.
Owners are friendly, helpful and communication with them was polite. I was a little disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the kitchen. In my opinion, it needs a deep clean.
- Rachel (10/5): Lovely chilled weekend away. - Location was great for dogs the locals were friendly and welcoming. Cottage had everything needed and more and was very cosy and comfortable. The dog station was a lovely touch by the hosts. The beds were so comfortable. Nothing since the weather isn’t something anybody can help!’
- stuart (7/5): -
- Gail (10/5): A lovely, welcoming, cosy place with all amenities close by. - It was warm and comfortable, right by the beach which our dog loved. It was easy walking distance to the Ship Inn, a very dog friendly pub with excellent roast dinners. Nothing.
- SGLes (10/5): I could happily live there... - The location is great, the beach & sea are behind the cottage.
The cottage decor with all the art & nik naks were homely.
Good amount of space.
Vast kitchen comfy bed.
The view & seeing the sunset, outstanding.
Easy to find. N/A
- Scott (10/5): Perfect little cottage in a great location - Everything was perfect. Well equipped with everything we needed, super comfortable bed and fantastic location, just a couple of minutes walk to the beach, pub cafe and walks. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming. Couldn't fault anything at all. Would highly recommend and will certainly be returning, if we're able to get a reservation as it must be very popular. Nothing.
- Suzanne (9/5): Relax Walk and gave fun at this beautiful cottage - Lots of attention to detail in this delightful cottage directly on the beach.
Both bedrooms have own bathroom.
The Ship Inn is easy walking distance with great food. Football on TV too. The stairs into the loft room are very quirky and delightful but take care as they are steep. Lots of warnings about them though so there were no mishaps.
- Michal (10/5): -
- Alex (8/5): -
- Chris (9/5): - Location and welcoming messages No light in the attic bathroom
- Ducksbury (10/5): -
- Ben (8/5): -
- Leigh (10/5): Great accommodation, would recommend to all. - Location was perfect - we’d been to the town before so we were aware how close it was to the beach. The cottage itself was very clean and well maintained and the owners provided little treats for us which was a a nice touch. We were also allowed an early check in from 12 which again was very much appreciated. No negatives to report. Would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a break away.
- Karen (8/5): -
- Jean (9/5): - Great location, perfect for a relaxing break away! Well equipped cottage by the sea.
- Martyna (9/5): Lovely tranquil place, perfect for a short gateway. - The place is super cozy, perfect for a beach stroll and beautiful views from top bedroom. Perfect for 2 couples and a dog. Kitchen big, having all you need to prep meals. Contact with owners great and enough space for 2 cars. 2 bathrooms also make it easy with 4 adults. We will come back! The kitchen was a bit dirty, but this has been addressed with the owners. The upstairs bedroom not suited for people with mobility issues due to the duck steps staircase but its not something that puts us off, just to be mindful.
- Ben (10/5): -
- Rachael (7/5): -
- Trevor (9/5): - Great cottage, everything you need. Perfect walking area for the dogs with cracking views along the Solway. Lovely food at the nearby Ship hotel, beautiful pub inside. Great base to explore Cumbria from. The way the building was originally constructed is like a back to back property so the only outside space is at the front below ground level accessed via the basement kitchen and/or steps from the front and was the only downside to our visit. Even though we never sat out as it was December! we would not choose the property for a summer stay as we like an outside space to sit with a view in the evening to look out to which unfortunately this cottage doesn't have . It's the limitation of how the building was constructed originally and there's nothing the owner's could do to make it better so while it is a great winter staycation spot for us,we wouldn't choose it for a summer stay.
- Alens (10/5): -
- Toni (10/5): Loved, loved, loved this. Can’t describe enough how much we enjoyed our stay. Have already been looking to see when we - It was absolutely beautiful. A real home from home and so warm and comfortable. It was located so close to the beach so really easy to get to. Absolutely immaculate inside and out. It made me very jealous that it’s not my house 😂
- Paul (10/5): -
- Butler (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- melanie (9/5): -
- Mark (10/5): Our happy place - The house is beautiful and located right next to the beach. Inside, you will find everything you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable. If you need any help, the owners are available to assist you as required. This is our perfect getaway from normal life, and we can't wait to return. Nothing.
- beverley (9/5): - Cosy cottage good location, locals very helpful and even gave us a lift to Maryport and got her husband to look after antique shop so nice , local pub everyone very welcoming.
There were 4 levels to cottage and well designed.
Hosts were very helpful and extended our checking out time an extra 1 hour. Down stairs window unable to shut property.
Hoover was blocked unable to hoover.
- Fiona (10/5): Great stay! - Everything we needed was there. It was clean, tidy & in a great location.
- Rebecca (9/5): - Very clean and tidy house. Lots of space for our needs. Excellent communication from hosts.
- Pauline (10/5): -
- kathleen (9/5): Large cottage in a perfect spot for the beach - Spacious cottage Steep stairs to top floor
- Kevin (9/5): -
- Victoria (9/5): It's a dream to find a holiday property so high spec, located on the beach. Hosts are lovely! - Location and quirkiness of the cottage were excellent. I hope to return and stay again. Everything was excellent. No complaints.
- Michelle (10/5): Lovely break away in a lovely cottage. - My husband and i have thoroughly enjoyed a 2 night stay in this cosy cottage,
Its in a great location as it is literally right on the beach.
The owners was very friendly and made sure we was happy & had everything we needed.
Very comfy beds, with lovely bedding & modern decor, 2 TVs plus netflix, prime tv & everything needed to cook meals.
Perfect location for our 2 18yr old jack russell's who struggle to walk far until they see a beach and instantly turn into puppies again 🐶🐶💞
We will definately be returning next spring but next time we will book longer than 2 nights 🥰
- sue (10/5): really enjoyed it, stunning views and scenery - location is fabulous, the beach is just at the back of the cottage. dogs absolutely loved it. nothing
- dan joe (10/5): -
- Dianne (10/5): Fantastic cosy cottage. - The cottage is beautiful. Well appointed, tastefully decorated and well equipped. Beds were comfy and shower pressure was great! A great little house right on the beach. It was lovely to lie in the cosy attic and listen to the rain (unfortunately weather was not our friend) on the windows and the seagulls pattering their way across the rooftop! The soft drink honesty bar and the dog treats were very welcome and great additions to the booking. We have stayed in the area many times over the years and this is by far our favourite place. We were sorry to have to go home. Will definitely return! Nothing, everything was exceptional and hosts were responsive to any queries we had.
- Michelle (10/5): Great property, location and facilities - Perfect hosts with friendly communications. The cottage was immaculate with easy access to the beach, coastal path and local facilities. We had everything we needed for a home from home. The local pub and cafe were fantastic too Nothing, it was perfect
- Leanne (10/5): Absolutely fantastic - Gorgeous cottage, always lovely and clean. Perfect for a little family
- Mark (10/5): Lovely house - The house was spotless. The location is superb with quick access onto the wonderful beach. Loved it so much, we've re booked for later this year. Road outside was quite noisy, but that's not a fault of the house.
- Neill (10/5): - This cottage is fantastic, is really comfortable and has everything you need in it, we had brilliant stay and can't wait to return
- Ruth (8/5): Great stay, lovely location - Great location Lots of stairs. Kitchen in basement.
- Barry (10/5): Excellent perfect beach side location - Excellent location 4 floors to explore great kitchen comfy beds just perfect ! The size and layout great shower and bath !perfect location
- Susanne (10/5): Perfect place to give
your dog a proper beach vacation - Lovely place, cozy, furnished and decorated with love. So close to an amazing beach that my pup loved. The kitchen has everything you need and more. Parking in front of the house. The road can be a tad noisy, but it's very quiet at night.
If you get up early enough, you'll see the bunnies outside the house. Low tide means massive stretches of sandy beach, perfect for letting your dog just run.
The owners are super nice and helpful. Neighbors are quiet. And so many dogs with respectful owners. Everything was great
- Fran (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay 👌 the hosts were very helpful 👍 spot on. Cottage well equipped Nothing
- Sue (9/5): A lovely couple of days and nothing too much trouble to the lovely hosts. Very recommended - Spotlessly clean N/A
- Amanda (10/5): Fabulous time in a lovely seaside village.Mime and Keith were brilliant. - Lovely place to stay and the Cosy Cottage had lots of character.
- Victoria (9/5): Wonderful - Lovely spot perfect to walk the dogs and gain access to the beach.
- R (10/5): Cosy stay - It is exactly what it says on the tin.'Cosy Seaside Cottage' delightful
- Emma (9/5): Great comfy, cosy cottage in a brilliant location if you like peace and quiet and great views. - The location was great, on the sea front, easy to find in a very quiet area. The cottage was clean and very well equipped, had everything we needed. Nothing, can’t think of anything negative to say. There was a slight damp smell in the kitchen but this was probably due to the fact that it can sometimes flood, once the kitchen was being used the smell seemed to evaporate.
- Karen (7/5): Fantastic location - The location was excellent a stone’s throw from the beach and also able to walk along the English Coastal Path. Fantastic views from the loft bedroom of the sea and beach. The owners were very quick at responding to enquiries before the stay. The sofa and bed were comfy. Parking was directly outside. There are 2 pubs and cafe style eateries within walking distance but not open on Mondays and one only serving food Friday and Saturday so eating out was limited. The accommodation was on 3 levels. The kitchen was in what was previously the basement and there was a weird musty smell if the door or window was left closed.
- Julie (10/5): Lovely cosy cottage in great spot. - Comfortable and clean, friendky and helpful owners,, great location, lovely village. Could do with some scissors and sharp knives in the kitchen but a minor detail.
- Julie (10/5): Had a lovely stay only 2 nights but great 👍 - The location very central we visited Maryport and Silloth, lovely place to take our 2 dogs, dog walks and beach walks fab. Only downside maybe no garden for dogs but Beach just over the road. Everything else stop on.
- Andrea (10/5): wish it could have been longer. - very cosy. homely touches. loved the smart tv. the lamps and throws were thoughtful additions . Allonby is a lovely little village. Mike and Keith were very helpful and responsive. nothing!
- Paul (9/5): Will book again when next in the area. - Great location, comfortable, would book again. N/A
- Debra (10/5): Fantastic stay - Everything Nothing
- Louise (9/5): Lovely cottage - Lovely cottage, right on the sea front. The town was very quiet, not much there other than the ice cream shop. But it was easy driving distance to lots of fantastic walks and family days out. Would definitely stay again!
- Megi (9/5): Superb -
- Vaidya (9/5): Superb - The location was fabulous.
Bedrooms and lounge were cozy and comfortable.
Kitchen and dinning at the same level would have been more convenient. Kitchen in the basement was slightly hard to manage.
The outside area of the basement and the steps leading to it could be pressure cleaned and a few nice pots of flowers and plants could be great.😊
However, overall it was very good value foroney and the hosts were very responsive and helpful and also extended our check out time .
- Gail (8/5): A lovely few days away, cosy and comfortable. - Very comfortable and close to the beach and amenities. Stale smell in the kitchen. No wine glasses.
- Carole (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (8/5): We had a great stay in a peaceful location by the sea - It's a lovely little back to back cottage right on the shore, with lovely views out to sea from an attic skylight It's a shame the only view is from the attic skylight
- Ali (10/5): Very good stay but the taxi situation is awful - Everything Property was very good. Taxis are a nightmare
- Kate (10/5): Perfect for a disconnect - Lovely cottage, with everything you need.
There was absolutely nothing to do in Allonby which was perfect for us and what we wanted.
Couldn't get enough of the view. Have booked for next year.
- Kerry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olivia (10/5): Amazing cottage, great location! - The location was amazing! Could sea the sea front from the top bedroom window.
It also had all the facilities you’d require such as an air fryer, microwave, oven, washing machine etc.
it is a really lovely place in a lovely location ! Everything was perfect so there is nothing I’d put that I dislike but more of a heads up: there’s lots of stairs so keep that in mind when booking.
- Damian (9/5): Absolutely lovely. Will definitely come again. - The only quibble is the kitchen could maybe do with a couple of wooden spoons for cooking, a milk jug, a robust casserole dish and a couple of extra tea towels. Other than that, the house is extremely well furnished in all departments.
- Sharon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): I had a fabulous time. Ended up going alone as my partners work prevented her coming too. I found Allonby delightfully f - It was indeed a cozy cottage, great value for money, well equipped and in a great location. Mike was so incredibly helpful. Very little to criticise. A bedside table and light would have been good.
- Victoria (10/5): The perfect coastal getaway, we will be back - It had everything you could need in the cottage, it was so comfortable and home from home . The location was perfect, we were able to walk the dogs on the beach all the time. Nothing to dislike.
- Danny (10/5): A lovely day, great hosts. Perfect for a little stop off or a longer trip. Will certainly return. - Great location, lovely and cosy. Nothing.

- Karl (10/5): Very happy with the cottage and we really enjoyed our stay. Thank you to you both. - Lovely cosy cottage, well laid out with everything we needed for our stay. Great coastal area which we enjoyed with a walk along the beach. Would definitely visit again. Noisy neighbours sat night but nothing to complain about.
- Mark (8/5): Great place to stay for exploring the area - Cottage was warm and cosy and comfortable. Really close to the beach for morning stroll with our dog. It had everything needed for our stay exploring the area. Big thanks to Mike and Keith for being great hosts and we’d happily stay again if we were next visiting that area 😀 Can’t think of much at all
- Cmjb (10/5): Lovely cottage next to sea. Perfect for beach walking. - Clean, comfortable and cosy. Great communication from owners. We liked everything.
- Skeegs (10/5): Perfect coastal break - We loved everything about this property, cosy, clean and fully equipped with everything you need. The cottage is in a perfect location and their is parking outside. Two days wasn't enough. We absolutely loved our time here.
- Natalie (8/5): Lovely, quirky little cottage. Enjoyed long beach walks and cosy nights. - Cottage pretty much on the beach, which it what we wanted!! We weren’t aware Allonby is such a quiet place, would’ve preferred a little more on our doorstep.
