- Aggie (1/5): Bad - Location was OK but I wouldn't return. View from lounge room ok when staff not hanging items. A room in a shared apartment with dirty bedding, mouldy ceiling in bedroom, no towels or soap. Had to request towels which took awhile.
I booked 2 rooms with private bathrooms, only one had a bathroom.
Cockroachs in the kitchen and the couch was filthy.
Very poorly maintained and I wouldn't return.

- Peter (3/5): Poor - Impossible to find - no signs - no one there was welcoming or gave an explanation that I had arrived - I walked away and looked around for ten minutes before being told it was actually here - then turns out I was sharing the ‘Luxury’ apartment with three other families - food brought in from afar - no decent facilities - very unfriendly atmosphere - the woman making breakfast was really unfriendly and breakfast consisted of an egg and dry bread

The receptionist claimed that they were forwarding the requests to management and responsible centres but the requests were never answered. We requested to talk to Management of the facility but the receptionist would not allow
There were no towels, The room did not have wifi/hotspot apparently due to running out of credit. Accordingly also the TV wasn't working due to absence of hot spot. Several please were made with no success
- Ronald (4/5): Very very disappointing, I felt cheated - There was no breakfast!! On the date of arrival, the front desk would not understand my booking despite me showing the booking reference and details on my phone. They claimed the booking was made by an agent. I spent a whole hour explaining At the end I made full payment, but there was no receipt given. After complaining they wrote in a very old exercise book but never gave me any acknowledgement of the payment. The breakfast was not provided although was included at the time of booking. When asked we were told the workers stay away and if breakfast was to be provided it would be after 9am !!
No towels in the rooms, no wifi in the room as was promised in the booking, TV doesn't work apparently the device in the room meant to provide hot spot and also to connect TV had run out of credit. We Complained thought without success and the front desk would not let us talk to the manager.
Complaints were made repeatedly but to no avail
The front desk staff needs serious training and also to know that certain matters need to be escalated to the Manager. (We never saw neither talk to the manager despite our pleas)
There is a lot more bad experience at that facility, writing all would be a book!!

3. Entrance had a big dust bin leading to bad smell in all area and lift.

- Namwaka (1/5): I was so uncomfortable because there is no privacy and there is no security. A refund was rejected. - What is advertised and the Reality is different. It is an apartment but they make it a guest house or some sort of a lodge. So it is a very low class accommodation There is no privacy at all. They like collect different customers and put them in a single appartement without notice. It means there is no privacy at all. Sharing a house with someone you dont know can be very dangerous. What if there other person you are sharing the appartement with is a drug dealer, or criminal like a killer, wouldn't those living in the same appartment be in trouble? We were even scared to leave some drinking water and food staff in the kitchen because we once did so and someone took them without our concern. The money we pay is not worth the stay.
They trick customers by creating urgency so that customers can pay in advance and when customers pay in advance they don't refund if you are unhappy with their service. I paid in advance because I have always had comfortable accommodation from booking.com but with this one, it was a mistake. My trust for booking. Com is reducing now

There was no room service number provided, so if I needed anything, I had to go all the way downstairs to get it.
The mattresses had an unpleasant smell, and I had to use my perfume just to be able to sleep comfortably.
Electric cables are not working.

- Bridgett (1/5): Horrible it’s a Scam DO NOT BOOK HERE - The name ocean bay is not even on google map making it hard to find the place, the breakfast was given half eaten chapati 🤣what a mess no privacy , cleaners coming in and out they could not even give me the key to my room because they couldn’t find it .dirty bed shits Everything , the staff needs a lot of training. The host was so hard to communicate with doesn’t reply to messages.Staff feels like they are being forced to work there.

I said you are not exchange currency office to set your own. I will pay according to the exchange ratevf the day.
The room is large but not confortable, no plug no light next to the bed. The sink around too moldy.
I asked for breakfast time she said between 8.30 to 9.00 am. I was chocked that they serve the breakfast so late. I said I am traveling and 9 I have already to be at the port. She wrote on the paper that they will serve me the breakfast at 8.00 am. But that was only on the paper, I left at 8.20 there were no race of breakfast. I will never be back to that place. Quiet location and hotel.
Shared kitchen with refrigerator and washing machine.
We slept well in the bed.
Maintenance higher than Tanzanian average,
If anything didn't work, mechanic appears within 1 hour.
One worker was very carrying. Some workers slept for hours on couch of shared sitting room. I stood in total 6 weeks.

Included breakfast was every day the same. Almost late after 10 am. With exception of one worker who was very carrying.

Gym room has 4 equipments out of which 1 was usable.
I haven't seen any filter bed nor chlorine to keep swimming pool clean.

- Titus (1/5): I would not recommend the stay to anyone, unless the management rectifies the problems - I loved the location The reception staff are incompetent, they kept reducing number of days booked and demand for extra money.

Breakfast is personally prepared in the kitchen just for you. Despite a minor incident with another guest, the management responded very professionally and resolved my case efficiently. I recommend this accommodation if you are looking for a mix of comfort and a local experience.

The room shown in photos is a shared guest room, with additional separate 6 super small rooms inside the apartment. 5% surcharge for visa/mastercard payment or a bad currency exchange rate (around 3% markup) if you want to pay in local currency. Also listed as Blessie Homes, Arrabella Homes, Hakuna Matata Ocean View Home and here on Booking-com also as "The Bay View Home- Msasani Beach". The actual small rooms aren't kept in good condition, broken (heavily used and worn) bed sheets, no shower gel (but at least soap is given), one towel even if 2 adults are staying, I think it was cold water only.

I returned early between 12:00 AM to 12:15 AM, but there was no attendant to provide me with the room key. I had to find another place to sleep. I advise other customers to be cautious when deciding to stay here, as the owner does not understand the concept of "check-in time," which shouldn't apply to long-term guests.

Breakfast was very basic, was only provided with bread with jam, egg and black tea. They didn't offer choices for breakfast considering I had a diabetic mother. Also, they should have rooms with shower instead of jacuzzi in all rooms, this would serve more for elder persons.

4. The swimming pool was a hit with the whole family. There are several reasons why I will not be returning:
1. Poor Communication and lack of privacy: The principle that "the customer is king" was blatantly disregarded during our stay. Supervisors and cleaners possessed spare keys and repeatedly entered the apartment without prior notice, despite our having paid for exclusive use of the entire unit. This behavior was both intrusive and disruptive. Furthermore, the owner's response to our legitimate concerns was unsatisfactory, marked by a condescending attitude.
2. Inconsistent Cleaning Services:
The housekeepers did not have a set cleaning schedule, and they were not proactive in their duties. For the first three days, the housekeeper named Agness did an excellent job, but she was then replaced, and the new housekeeper did as she pleased. Our rooms went four days without being cleaned, and we had to ask several times for the bedsheets and towels to be replaced.
3. Cockroach Infestation:
Our biggest concern was the apartment's cockroach infestation, which can transmit various diseases. The provided aerosol sprays did not effectively address the issue, likely due to the poor hygiene of the apartment and lack of regular fumigation.
The entry area of the apartment had a foul odor too.
4. Leakage in the Bathrooms and Sewage Odor:
The partition between the shower and toilet was poorly maintained, causing water to flood the entire toilet area after showering. This issue was present in all the rooms.
There was a sewage odor coming from the sinks in the kitchen and the showers.
