Guest Reviews
- Sanford (3/5): Poor -
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Ella (5/5): Passable - The house was a good size for our family of four and the kitchen was well equipped. We appreciated the washing machine and dryer in the laundry. The house is damp and smells mouldy/musty. I would suggest that owners buy a dehumidifier and do some renovations (replacing gib board etc) to address the cause of the damp/mould issue.
- Nadja (6/5): Considering prices in Te Anau good value - A big house with everything you need. Quick walk to town. Nice host who cared and showed up immediately after a complaint about cleaning The whole house is old and could do with a renovation. Door handle loose, chairs in the kitchen used and uncomfortable, whole furniture a little bit off
- Colin (5/5): We had a pleasant stay in beautiful Te Anau. House and interior are rather dated. - Basic accommodation which was all we really needed for a couple of nights. No email was sent before our arrival to indicate key lock code. We had to email and phone the owner to be told of code after arriving we arrived at the property. We noticed a musky smell when we first entered the house.
- Janice (4/5): Disappointing - Needed modernised. Coat of paint & new living room carpet as it was dirty & stained. Photos on booking.com showed it better than it was. Was clean & location good. Just disappointing.
- Alan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Susan (8/5): Dated property. Deep clean would enhance ( light shades covered with insects ) , cobwebs . -
- Cassandra (7/5): Basic but was okay for our trip - Bed were comfortable, but overall could do with a little maintenance.
- Jane (8/5): Very good -
- Sands (6/5): Pleasant - The comfort of home
- Kay (7/5): Good -
- Bernard (6/5): Pleasant - Short walk to centre of town. Good for a 1 or 2 night stay.
- Noel (7/5): We were very comfortable in this large space - Large 3 b/r , lounge - full house. The property is old and dated - could do with some TLC and/or modernisation of fittings etc
- Hervé (6/5): Good base at Te Anau - Good and quiet location to visit Te Anau surroundings and Milford Sound. Walking distance to downtown. Washing machine and dryer. Fully functional equipment. The whole place needs thorough refreshment.
- Patricia (8/5): Very good - The house was very clean with very good amenities. Location was great. One worrying thing more for the owner is that the house outside the kitchen has a very obvious leaking problem, made the place smell musty. (The water supply for the garden hose). The floor is already warped. Otherwise all good
- Adam (8/5): Very good - Really comfortable and spacious home, perfect for a stop off as part of a long trip, able to catch up on laundry etc. A little out of town, but not too far
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- Narasimha (8/5): Very good -
- Valerie (3/5): This property was clean and comfortable but needs some TLC -
- Isaiah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hc (10/5): Perfect vacation home. -
- Katherine (6/5): Overall it was a comfortable enough base for a two night stay but fairly basic - The beds were comfortable and the location was only a five minute walk away from the shops, restaurants and lake front. The area was extremely quiet The decor and condition of the property is rather tired looking and could be much improved. Bedside lights in all bedrooms would be nice - there was only a bedside light in one of the three bedrooms.
- Ryan (6/5): Pleasant - Good location Could be cleaner
- Bev (7/5): Enjoyable - It could do with hooks in the bathroom and on the back of the door in the bedrooms.
- Katherine (5/5): Basic house met our needs. - Location was convenient. It suited our needs as we were out during the day and ate out. Was clean. The set out was fairly basic. Would not be able to fit 5 around the kitchen table. An ironing board would have been helpful.
- Rex (8/5): Very good - Close to everything
- Owen (8/5): Very good -
- Rashmi (1/5): Disappointing and a rip off - Nice garden This was such a disappointment. The house is atleast 50 years old and has not been maintained. Everything is old and coming apart. The sofas had stains and faded and coming apart. The carpets are very old and
unclean. The house had a weird smell and made me sneeze constantly. In one of the bedrooms they have stacked two mattresses and there was no bed. The mattresses were very uncomfortable and we woke with sore backs. The wardrobes in the bedrooms were locked and we didn’t have any room to hang our clothes. There were no bed side tables to keep your stuff.
The bathroom sink didn’t have mixers - two separate taps for hot and cold. The shower design is horrible and no pressure at all for hot water. The toiletries provided were very cheap and unusable. The toilet flush was leaking.
The location is ok. Close to town but Te Anau is a very small town and everything is walkable.
It was totally not worth $500+ per night. We felt it was rip off.
- Melody (10/5): Exceptional - great location and facilities.
- Irina (7/5): Good location - Property is in a good location, walking distance to the town center, restaurants and lake. Kitchen is well equipped with kitchen ware. Good washing machine and dryer. House has everything necessary for a short stay, but is very outdated.
- Joanne (8/5): Very comfortable and enjoyable - Nice roomy house for four people. Beds were comfortable and it is a nice quiet area
- Dan (5/5): Passable -
- Anna-maria (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and very comfortable
- Michael (5/5): Large accommodation but in need of updating. - The house was of good size with three bedrooms.
Good location close to the center of town
Good wifi
Washer/dryer and bbq were handy. The house had not been cleaned when we arrived. While the host apologized and had it cleaned within an hour, it was still inconvenient and annoying.
There was no central heat or AC in the house. Had to rely on space heaters. Alternatively, there was a wood burning stove that looked older than the house. Didn't want to use for fear of fire. I only hope the one (1) smoke detector worked!!!
The toilet leaked constantly and had to be shut off at night.
The kitchen and bathrooms were very old and could benefit from a reno.
- Catherine (8/5): Very good -
- Siu (7/5): Good -
- Amy (9/5): Great base camp for our adventure to Milford Sound. Te Anau is a cute little town. - Great location. Property was clean. Toilet ran constantly. We had to turn off the water to the toilet at night so we could sleep.
- Dian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yanghao (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jose (9/5): Superb - Website
- Amy (7/5): Good - Good communication from the hosts, and good location. The house is feeling a bit tired and rundown - in particular the bathroom and toilet could do with a bit of a revamp.
- Wai (5/5): Passable -
- Chantell (8/5): Very good - Perfect location
- Mishal (8/5): Great property for a Family seeking a quiet place to stay in Te Anau. - It had all the essential amenities for a family on holiday. Panel heaters were a hazard for us having a toddler.
- Barry (9/5): Superb - Complete home with 3 bedrooms- very well equipped- starting to look a little tired - but that no problem for us as served it’s purpose- enjoyed our stay !!
- Kenneth (8/5): Milford sound trip - Nostalgic, older 70s style we were very familiar with. No issues, close to town, bonus was washing machine and dryer. wifi and even some board games that we enjoyed. Good stay. Hot shower pressure a bit low, but usable.
