Guest Reviews
- Cherry (10/5): Amazing! - Incredible location. Very beautiful property. Had everything and more than we needed. Gifts on arrival. Just perfect. Nothing ! That we had to leave to go home !
- mark (9/5): Calm, peaceful and a great location to enjoy this beautiful part of Scotland. - Location very tranquil and quiet. Beautiful surrounding with a lovely bubbling brook a few feet away. Accommodation was warm and very well equipped with excellent kitchen facilities. Bathroom a good size. It is an old highland cottage and so the windows are relatively small making the views to the beautiful gardens a little more restricted.
- Matt (10/5): Very comfortable accommodation in a great part of Scotland with lots walking, wildlife & sightseeing - Great accommodation, great location. N/a
- Grant (8/5): A tremendous location - The fireplace in the bedroom and the cosy vibes it produces. The modern kitchen and underfloor heating are also wonderful. The remoteness of the location with peaceful walks to nearby beaches. No baking trays and other kitchen essentials not provided like ladles, wooden spoons. A list of what's provided before staying would be nice.
- Kirsty (10/5): A Tranquil Place - EVERYTHING!!! It's in a stunning location & the property itself has been beautifully decorated - high-end whilst staying true to the rustic charm of the place. Totally spotless & welcome pack put together by the hosts was outstanding. There's a lovely wee burn that runs next to the house & following it takes you on an amazing woodland walk to a gorgeous beach with spectacular views. Our trip was for 3 nights & would have happily stayed for the week - its very special xx
Hosts Siggy & Tim are great - approachable & so helpful. Thanks for making our stay amazing 🌟 There was nothing i did not like. I cannot fault anything about the place.
- Geoffrey (10/5): - The remoteness and prettiness were just what we wanted, and the cottage and grounds were clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The lengthy power cut across the region meant we returned home for a day and a half mid-term, but the whole of the area was very badly hit by Storm Amy. We were offered an extra day's stay, but it wasn't remotely the owner 's fault. Everyone in the region we met were stoic about the struggles, some without power for 4 or 5 days.
- Jennie Fishwick (10/5): Lovely cosy and luxurious cottage - The location was lovely and quiet, the Smiddy was small and cosy but plenty big enough for two Not a dislike as such, but a freezer would have been helpful, but we managed fine.
- Jill (10/5): -
- Susan (4/5): not enjoyable - location, and view, beach close by. the Bed was very hard and did not get a lot of sleep. Went home a day earlier. Host went on holiday so it was difficult to ask for a bed change. upon arriving after travelling for many Hours, I felt like I was told what and what not to do with Dogs. Although I had booked and paid for 2 dogs, the host was surprised that we arrived with 2 dogs and not 1 dog. This did feel feel like a cottage and the seating which is in the same room as bed was not comfortable. My partner and I felt restricted and did not feel we had much privacy and the hosts live next to our place. I felt that I could not relax. when the Host was away, the gardener stayed a few days to keep check on the property. He was very friendly but he was not able to support our grievance. I found the host not to be very welcoming but came across quiet controlling on tone of voice. This was upon arrival. The kitchen did have everything you need but the stay was not enjoyable at all giving we had no sleep. My partner and I are 60 years old and not children. always left a place clean and took extra covers which we place on the floor to protect any property. Would not stay here again. some changes are required.
- Susanne (8/5): - High standard of accommodation in excellent location. Appreciated welcome pack with milk, eggs and treats.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (10/5): Amazing location and hosts would recommend to anyone. -
- Mark (10/5): A beautiful peaceful place for those who love to explore nature - It was cosy clean and the owners have added so many features and facilities and thoughtful touches that make it feel special. Perfect for couples who love nature. Romantic homely getaway There wasn’t anything to dislike about the property. Midge season may be a challenge so come prepared.
- Alec (9/5): Superb -
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional - The Smiddy is very tastefully done with everything you could need. The food items were very well received and added to the value of the stay. A morning coffee in bed next to the wood burner while the snow was coming down outside was lovely 😊 The location is great, and there is plenty to do and see nearby. Siggy and Tim were very welcoming and helpful. We look forward to returning in the future. Absolutely nothing not to like!
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- Gordon (10/5): Gordon and Ann Mair - Everything Nothing
- Neil (10/5): Excellent -
- Wieteke (10/5): Exceptional - It was so cosy and in a beautiful environment. Nothing
- Hannah (10/5): Makes you feel at home - Siggy was extremely attentive to everything we needed. Great, calm location, comfy bed and all in all the Cottage is just so welcoming. The place was clean, the shower is great. We would've never left!! Definitely would love to go back for a longer stay and enjoy even more of the Cottage and the surrounding walking distance areas. This isn't a negative point to the Cottage, just for other guests to know to be prepared for midges in the summer!! (the Cottage has nets so you can open the windows regardless ☺️)
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - From the moment we drove down the driveway we knew we was going to love The Smiddy .The whole grounds it was surrounded with was beautiful and the accommodation was everything you would want .
The little food hamper was delicious.
There is nothing I can say bad about the smiddy, only that we had to leave 🥲
Thank you, Tim, and ziggy for allowing us to share your beautiful place, and we will definitely be returning
