• Mark (9/5): Een comfortabel appartement met een gastvrije eigenaar die alles doet om je het naar de zin te maken - We werden door Yaya, de eigenaar, opgehaald van het vliegveld. Wij verbleven in het appartement op de begane grond, waar we twee van de, ik geloof, drie slaapkamers hebben gebruikt. Het appartement heeft een grote woonkamer met open keuken en zithoek en is modern en brandschoon. Bij aankomst stonden er drankjes en water in de koelkast en lag er fruit klaar dat we mochten gebruiken. Vanuit de voordeur van het appartement kom je op een terras met uitzicht op de tuin, waar je ’s ochtends heerlijk kunt zitten en ontbijten. Het ontbijt was uitgebreid en erg lekker, met onder andere vers brood van een lokale bakker. Yaya hielp ons tijdens ons verblijf met allerlei tips en regelde veel voor ons. Zo verzorgde hij de tickets voor de lichtshow bij de Abu Simbel-tempels, het avondeten in het restaurant van zijn broer en een boottocht bij zonsopgang op de Nijl. Ook regelde hij een tuktuk om ons op te halen bij de tempel en kwam hij zelf met zijn motor langs. Daarnaast liet hij ons zijn huis zien en vertelde hij enthousiast over zijn plannen om verder uit te bouwen. Yaya is een goedlachse, supervriendelijke gastheer die echt alles doet om je verblijf zo prettig mogelijk te maken, maar je ook alle ruimte laat om je eigen gang te gaan als je dat wilt. Het was geweldig om hier te verblijven. Mochten we ooit terugkomen in Abu Simbel, dan komen we hier zeker weer. Niets

• FREDERIC (10/5): Une maison parfaite et un hôte prévenant - Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez Yaya qui nous a dès notre arrivée accueilli chaleureusement avec un verre d’hibiscus et a été présent à tous les moments où nous avions besoin de lui. C’est un hôte qui connaît tout et tout le monde dans la région et qui donne de bons conseils pour les visites. Nous avons pu par son intermédiaire obtenir notamment les billets pour le spectacle son et lumière du temple d’Abou Simbel au prix public. Nous avons également à notre arrivée mangé dans le restaurant de son frère avant d’entreprendre une première visite du temple en fin d’après-midi. La maison est à environ 15-20 minutes de marche des temples, ce qui est parfait pour s’y rendre à pied. Elle se situe dans un quartier calme visuellement moyen habité par des familles locales (on voit les enfants avec leurs sacs d’école). Cette maison qui possède un joli jardin qui nous coupe de la rue est vraiment superbe, d’une propreté nickel, spacieuse, très confortable et avec des installations de qualité (sanitaires, électroménager, éclairages, matériaux d’ensemble, lit). Le réfrigérateur contient des petites bouteilles et des canettes de soda gratuites, ce qui est très appréciable. Du thé et du café sont à disposition. Nous aurions apprécié y passer une journée de plus ne serait-ce que pour profiter plus de ces installations confortables (baignoire et douche, petits canapés douillets). Le lit est très très confortable et c’est un élément extrêmement important pour nous afin de pouvoir récupérer et entamer des journées de marche et de visites très matinales dans de bonnes conditions. Le petit déjeuner est très conséquent et varié, on sent la générosité de Yaya pour que le visiteur de passage ait la meilleure expérience possible également dans ce moment matinal agréable (après la visite du temple à l’aube).

Almost nothing. They have 3 bedrooms with two baths and one toilet. If you have many people. One toilet may become a slight bottleneck

It exceeded our expectations by far. But what truly makes this place special is the person who welcomes you there: Yaya. From the very first moment, he receives you as if you were part of his family—always attentive, generous, offering help and conversation, and genuinely caring about your well-being. His hospitality is sincere and deeply human. After more than three weeks traveling around Egypt and having many incredible experiences, our arrival in Abu Simbel and at Karma Kono has been, without a doubt, one of the most special moments of the whole trip. • Fernando (9/5): - L'emplacement, l'accueil par Yaya, le jus de bienvenue, le petit déjeuner, le confort et les équipements de l'appartement. Yaya a été vraiment aux petits soins avec nous. Il nous a même fourni les billets pour le son et lumière. Il parle bien le français et l'anglais bien sûr. Belle rencontre et Joli appartement. On recommande. Prix un peu élevé par rapport aux autres logements de même standing que l'on a loué partout en Égypte pour 4 personnes. L'appartement est donné pour 6 personnes.
• silvia pedrotti (10/5): lusso per una notte - The house is a beautiful big villa in a quiet area of Abu Simbel, perfect to reach the temples, go for a walk along the water or go to the centre (restaurant), all reachable in a few minutes by foot. It was clean, very spacy (there are 3 rooms) and with a chilled and cozy atmosphere, fresh drinks and snacks/fruit available. Delicious breakfast on the table outside. The owner (Jeje) is super nice and available for information and help on whatsoever, we spoke spanish. We had lunch and dinner at his brother's restaurant (New Abu Simble), having very tasty fish from the lake, and also got a discount. This accomodation was a treat during our trip. The price is quite high for Egypt and compared to all the other accomodation we experienced during our trip (about 90 euros for 1 night, 2 adults and 2 children), but the cleanliness and services in return were excellent.

The house is beautiful, spotless, and full of Nubian charm. Our host, Yaya, was incredibly gracious and welcoming, and even treated us to a delicious traditional Nubian hibiscus drink on arrival. Breakfast was good, and the entire place felt very cozy and comfortable — we instantly felt at home. The location is unbeatable, just a few minutes from the magnificent Abu Simbel Ramses Temple. If you’re visiting Abu Simbel, don’t think twice — this place is a rare find and totally worth it! 🌟 The only small thing to keep in mind is that although the house has two washrooms, only one has a toilet. But aside from that, everything was truly top-notch.
• William (10/5): Hidden Gem near Abu Simbel - Hidden gem if you are visiting Abu Simbel. Yaya was an amazing host. He coordinated a ride from the airport, helped us get lunch upon arrival at his brother's restaurant (which was fantastic), got us tickets for the sound and light show, coordinated a tuktuk to get us around the entire stay, and organized a sunrise boat ride to Abu Simbel. He accompanied us to many of the places to ensure we got arrived and showed us where to go. Overall, Yaya made our trip to Abu Simbel memorable and easy. I would highly recommend his place and his hospitality.
• Stephen (10/5): Stay longer if you can - This is a very large property - bigger than we expected. It was very clean, well looked after, cool and comfortable. Yaya, the owner, greeted us. He was a lovely guy. We only stayed one night but we actually discussed that we should have stayed longer. The town is significantly less touristy than Luxor and Aswan and in the evening we went about our way almost ignored. This apartment and this town are a good place to rest up and take a break. We really liked this apartment and Yaya made us feel welcome. I would stay at this property again in a heartbeat. Nothing.

The bed was really comfy and being able to use a washing machine was helpful after a lot of traveling in the week before. Really enjoyed our stay, Yaya was very friendly and accomodating and even made our breakfast at 5.30 in the morning! Highly appreciated. We could not recommend this place more, the Nubian hospitality is unmatched :)

Yo venia con unos colegas de Colombia y quedamos enamorados de la casa. Estaba limpia, olía muy rico y se vive una verdadera experiencia Danubia, que son las personas de esta area. Yaya nos ayudo con las boletas al templo de Abu Simbel de día y el de noche, ademas, nos llevo en barco a ver el atardecer frente a los templos. Por ultimo, yaya me consiguió un Guia en castellano quien me explicó el templo maravillosamente. El mejor anfitrión 🙂 y el apartamento es precioso y limpio Todo es bonito

• González González (10/5): Excepcional - La verdad que es todo espectacular, la casa es muy grande y está muy limpia, camas cómodas, tienes lavadora para poder lavarte la ropa, te recibe con un zumo de hibisco que está buenisimo, y te deja varias bebidas gratis en la nevera. El desayuno es super grande y muy rico y te ayuda para todo, le puedes comprar las entradas a el ya que te cuestan lo mismo que la taquilla y así te ahorras la cola. Si te ofrece ir al restaurante de su hermano es el típico restaurante para turistas pero está muy rico y la verdad que tampoco es caro. Yaya es muy agradable y te ayuda en todo desinteresadamente, que no es habitual en el país. Un 10 de alojamiento, de persona y de pueblo en general.

• chelan (10/5): Charming and clean and well located - Very clean and cute home about a 22 minute walk from Abu Simbel with one full bath and an additional shower. Host Yaya is very organized and friendly, and welcomed us with a refreshing welcome drink and music and incense. Very nice. He also helped us organize transportation to and from Aswan. Quiet village with almost no one begging or hassling us. People actually say hi without asking for money, which is nice. Lots of visible stars. Small mini mart nearby so you can get all the water and snacks you need. I do recommend that you do what we originally intended to do- go to the temple in the afternoon when you arrive. It IS open until 6 pm and totally vacant for the last few hours. At 6 am, you can watch the sunrise with the first round of the bus convoy (2000 people) or at 8 am around 4000 people show up. Around lunch some of the people who came by the later flight may still be there. After lunch, no one. We went in the morning, which was great, but wish we had gone twice - the first time in the afternoon on arrival. Also, with the lake breeze I was surprised how much cooler abu Simbel was than Aswan. Nothing. It was very good.

If you like sharing with local people, talking with them, walking around and saying hi to local kids and families, this is a lovely stay. Yaya was so helpful and nice and organised everything so our stay would be perfect. The house is really well equipped and even though the living room in the summer is a bit too hot we just lounged on the terrace all day. Yaya organised a morning trip to see the sunrise from the lake at Abu Simbel, incredible experience. Hopefully ill come back some day. The living room is hot, maybe a fan would be helpful if anyone wants to be inside.

• Stefan (10/5): - Yaya ist ein sehr guter Gastgeber und hat uns den Aufenthalt angenehm gestaltet. Der Tempel von Abu Simpel ist auch nicht weit entfernt. Mir hat besonders gefallen das man hier das echte Ägypten sieht und auch eine Chance bekommt die netten Menschen, insbesondere die Nachbarn kennenzulernen. Gerne wieder und kann ich nur wärmstens weiterempfehlen. Alles bestens.

La casa es muy linda y amplia. Cerca del centro (7 cuadras) y de los templos (15 cuadras). Puedes hacer todo caminando Todo Excelente.

• Ndeye Maty (10/5): Un excellent séjour avec un excellent hôte! - Le petit-déjeuner, l'accueil, les activités, l'ambiance, la qualité du logement: tout a été parfait! Yahya est un hôte parfait, qui connait parfaitement l'histoire nubienne et est aux petits soins. Nous avons tellement adoré notre séjour que nous avons prolongé d'une nuit. Nous nous sommes sentis très bien accueillis et nos enfants étaient heureux. L'hôte parle plusieurs langues et est très arrangeant, en plus d'être honnête et sincère. Rien, tout a été parfait.
• aude (10/5): Le meilleur séjour à Abou Simbel - Localisation au top, tout se fait à pied. 15-20 à pied pour le temple, des tuktuk sont dispo partout. La maison est exceptionnelle, grande, propre. Clim efficace dans les chambres. Terrasse très agréable où le petit dej est servi par le propriétaire. Impossible de cuisiner mais il y a plein de petits restaurants à proximité dans lesquels on peut emporter. Nous avons déjeuné dans le restaurant du frère du propriétaire : très bon choix. Repas copieux pour 10$ par personne. Le propriétaire est adorable, il nous a guidés discrètement et très gentiment tout le long du séjour. On peut tout lui demander : repas, tickets pour le show, taxi …. On a communiqué par WhatsApp à l’avance et tout était organisé à notre arrivée. Et tout est très honnête. Rien

• Fabienne (10/5): - We voelden ons gelijk thuis! De host stelt je op je gemak en regelt alles wat zijn gasten nodig hebben. Het eten van het restaurant van zijn broer is VOORTREFFELIJK! Je wordt heen en terug gebracht. We hadden het ook kunnen laten leveren. Niets is deze ondernemende familie teveel! De accommodatie ligt dichtbij Aboe Simbel, wat zeer gunstig was. Er viel ons niets tegen, alleen had het fijn geweest om in de woonvertrekken en badkamer ventilators te hebben. In de slaapkamers was het aangenaam koel daarentegen. De douche staat niet helemaal goed afgesteld waardoor de badkamervloer nat en dus glad wordt. Maar deze punten zijn niet doorslaggevend!

• Cheryl (10/5): Welcomed like family at Karma Kono - Host was exceptional with his warm hospitality, greeted us with freshly made welcome drinks, setup dinner at a family restaurant & packed a delicious boxed breakfast for our early morning departure. We felt like family! Thank you!! Villa was modern, comfortable and in a quiet neighborhood. A/C was only in bedroom. However, we had a short stay and didn’t spend a lot of time in the villa during the daytime, so this wasn’t a big issue but worth noting for others staying in warmer months.

Very welcoming host and family, lovely clean house with a beautiful garden, and a delicious breakfast in the morning. • Sanne (10/5): Absolutely lovely - Karma Kono is one of the nicest and welcoming b&b’s we ever visited. This beautifully decorated and very clean place soothes the mind and body after the long journey to get to Abu Simbel. Yahya is the perfect host, he really understands how to make his guests feel comfortable and at home: homemade lemonade upon arrival, cold water in the fridge, crispy white sheets, lovely Nubian music, delicious breakfast. He is very helpful and knowledgeable about the temple. We wholeheartedly recommend Karma Kono. Nothing, it was perfect!

He makes such a wonderful breakfast and truly cares about his guests. The welcome drink was so fresh too. Comfortable rooms and everything was clean. • Guillermo (10/5): Best place to stay in Abu Simbel - Simply the best place to stay in Abu Simbel! My family and I stayed for one night and the house is really beautiful, confortable, spacious and clean. The location is great if your are visiting the Rameses Temple (only 10 min by car). The best part was Yaya's hospitality. He was really kind from the beginning and really made us feel like home and part of his family. He gave us the best suggestions for restaurants and souvenir shops and always was caring for our needs. Totally recommended!

The decoration in the house is wonderful and full of local style. It also includes a very good breakfast. The house owner is very nice, he prepared everything for us.
