- Zamuxolo (9/5): Relaxing glamping with lovely add-ons! - Sleeping and waking up on the banks of the Sabie river was to die for. The added services that you could add were great, I managed to get a Spa treatment for my mom and I. I also appreciated the availbility of the hosts for speedy responses on WhatsApp. I think they should consider doing maintanence on the road down, because some parts are not tarred and so if it has been raining, it is rather scary for smaller vehicles.
- Vanessa (8/5): It is a very peaceful beautiful environment but the accomodation needs a little more TlC - Location and nature The tents etc are a bit aged and need some tlc.
- Angeline (10/5): -
- Chantelle (8/5): - The access road

- user (1/5): Horrible experience - Nothing was nice about this stay the owner was horrible The shower was extremely hot and extremely cold , no inbetween and probably the worst africamps experience iv ever had
The zips on the tents where broken and stuck in several places
The towels smelled used and old
The access to property was not mentioned on property accommodation advert and no description of access based on bad roads warning was given to me as guest of tent 8
My safety was not assured by the owner of africamps mackers mp
Due to the high rainfall my car being a polo, had several slips coming down the extended path way made by Mackers which did not ensure safety of their guests. None of the staff members where accessible at this time either.
The owner was negligent in providing safety by disrespecting my enquiry of contingency plans for exit of property under these extreme weather conditions
She cut me off several occasions undermining my concerns expressed for exiting the property
Note the following , the pathway created from the entrance at the top of the mountain was a steep decline containing several muddy roads with small pieces of paving slipping under my tires in rain due to the unstable nature of placing these pieces over gushing water and mud inbetween
The wall on the side was an embankment with no supportive infrastructure resulting in clear collapsing being seen on the side and the other a drop off the edge with bush
Based on the fearful experience expressed to the owner
Her response was evading and invalidating our experience and fear of safety as clients
She responded by saying that the other guests at the property did not complain so she couldn't perceive any sort of compassion or understanding for the experience at hand by us as her guests at the time.

- Conor (4/5): - The river environment is beautiful. Owls around camp at night teaching their baby to hunt. Chalet floor and kitchen ware was not spotless unlike other Afri Camps. Mold on bathroom ceiling.

- Natasha (10/5): - Peace and Serenity We were so comfortable, we had to such a wonderful time as a family.
- Matolo (8/5): Such a beautiful and peaceful place. Great and timeous service from staff -

- Njabu (6/5): Great - The river is an excellent feature right outside the tent. The place needs more ventilation in the bathrooms, it’s musky. If you have sinuses you won’t sleep. Fumigation of household roaches aswell.
Niets eigenlijk

- Daniel (9/5): Peaceful, quiet and relaxing. - Right by the Sabie river. Quiet and private location. Only 10 tents so not many people.
Honesty shop was great. Pool also lovely.
Enjoyed the breakfast and braai baskets.
- launel (10/5): - The ambience. Very peaceful
- Mabandla (9/5): -
- Sophie (8/5): - Camp in sehr ruhiger Lage am Fluss mit allem was man so benötigt.
- Sifiso (10/5): -
- Tenele (10/5): Highly recommended location ❤️ - Words cannot express how beautiful this place is. One of the most transformative experiences of my life ❤️ Everything was amazing
- Jacques (8/5): Pleasant experience. - Location and close to beautiful nature.
Layout / concept of the tents.
Camping on another level. Intermittent warm water supply during showers (no bath).
Pots were not cleaned thoroughly; with fatty and rusty deposits.
- Andrew (10/5): Love ❤️. FEAE. - Alles!

- brita (9/5): -
- Riaan (9/5): We will be back - Loved the location We wanted to have a hot tub like the previous Africamps we have visted
- Sharon (9/5): Excellent property, facilities and stay. -
- Tshiamo (9/5): We had a great family time. - We were out of the place before the sunrise. We never had breakfast in the vicinity. Nothing to think about right now.
- Thanduxolo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lameze (9/5): A Dream in Nature - The site was absolutely breathtaking right next to the river that lulled one to sleep at night. The honesty shop a great idea, as well as the peace and quiet
- Kabelo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ukuthula (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mariette (5/5): Disappointing stay - The location is pretty. I loved the visit from Pig the resident dog. The unit itself requires a good clean. The entire area where people will touch walls or the tent is stained or dirty. Even the ladder to the bunk bed.
Although self check in is great etc it would be great to say hello to someone who is present. When the water flows from the kitchen sink area it links up with the shower flow out, which smells really bad and after a shower. We stayed in Tent 1.
The braai seating area is not comfortable.
My comparison is purely based on my experience at Africamps Hoedspruit, which received a 10/10 for my visit in March this year. It was a warm welcome, location perfect and tent canvas as well as all other areas sparkling clean. Braai area was comfortable and cozy.
My stay was moved from March to April so this review relates to our stay on 14 and 15th April.
- Shaun (10/5): - What a fantastic stay at Africamps Mackers in Hazyview. Not only is the location breathtaking, but the accommodation is perfectly crafted for a glamping experience. It had everything we needed. We had the best time and are definitely Africamp fans.
- Nomuzi (10/5): Words cannot describe our overall stay. It was home away from home. Definitely coming back for a longer stay🌸 - Loved everything about the property, it had all the necessities. We felt at home.
- Kea (8/5): Relaxing and peaceful - I think if possible to have toilet bleach available the smell of the toilet gets to you after a day or 2 being a sceptic tank system or at least mention that you should bring some. Everything else was great.
- Tshepang (10/5): Tranquility at it's best
. - The sabie River View. With calming sound. The tent had everything, and it's very clean. Nothing
- Nixieweebs (10/5): Exceptional - The location is so beautiful and quiet and the surroundings of the Sabie river and trees feel like a hideaway spot. The tent's facilities are excellent with air conditioner, soft bedding, a great shower and wonderful kitchen appliances. Truly a trip worth taking. None
- Massah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Van (9/5): Superb -
- Hlekani (7/5): Good - The honest shop, tent
No network and wifi
- Johann (10/5): This was relaxing, everything was in place and smooth, clean , quality staying. Will definitely return. - Really nice and clean.
- Alison (5/5): Beautiful location, however, unfortunately, not all the tents are located near the fast stream. I had booked our tent 8 - The tent was exactly as expected as we had stayed in the Africamps in Hoedspruit. However, the bench around the fire pit was extremely uncomfortable and also positioned around the side of the tent (not in front as show in the pictures. And there was no lighting near the fire. Our tent was also further up the stream, where the water is almost stagnant, so there were an unbearable amount of bugs crawling around you, unfortunately.
- Nkosana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandile (4/5): They run an honesty shop which is a self service by so you take items and you communicate on WhatsApp as to what you too - I love the fact that you have a view of the river and it’s like you staying in a forest. Service and if you forget anything there forget about getting it back
- Barnard (10/5): Exceptional - Views and the hike was great The little entrance road is a bit rough
- Hoffmann (8/5): Overall, it was a lovely stay, and we will definitely consider an Africamp stay again. - We looked out over a beautiful river, with tall trees in the distance swaying in the wind. The camp dog, Pig, visited us a few times, and he was absolutely lovely—usually just sitting beside us while we admired the view. The aircon was also very nice with the very hot weather we had. The road to the camp was in poor condition, with very steep climbs. We arrived in a Jeep, which handled it fine, but we got stuck behind a neighbor with a low-clearance car that struggled on the way up. More warnings about the road conditions when booking would have been helpful.
Additionally, the camp is quite remote, with most attractions about an hour’s drive in either direction. However, if you're looking to simply relax in nature with a book, the location is perfect.
- Nomsa (10/5): Loved it! We even stayed an extra night - Stunning location, perfect spot to soak up in nature!
- Abraham (8/5): Very good -
- Lu-rae (10/5): Stay at Africamps Hazy - Everything from tent to river. Host fantastic. Pig the dog a real host! Na
- Engelbrecht (9/5): Best place to relax and unwind! - Amazing place to relax and unwind. The views of the river from the tent is beautiful. The swimming pool also has an amazing view!
- Tatenda (9/5): Superb -
- Uhone (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (8/5): AfriCamps at Mackers is a delightful and rejuvenating escape into nature for the entire family. - My family and I have been visiting AfriCamps at Mackers for the past 2-3 years, and we plan to keep coming back. This place offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The Sabie River, just outside the tents, makes you feel truly connected with nature.
The tents are well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The honesty shop is a great convenience for those small items you might have forgotten. Our kids absolutely love the infinity pool, which adds to the overall enjoyment of our stay.
AfriCamps at Mackers is a wonderful destination for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature. We highly recommend it! While we enjoyed our stay at AfriCamps at Mackers, there were a few issues that could be improved. Although WiFi was advertised, it did not work during our visit. This meant we had to drive up to the main road to get reception or head into Hazyview to do some work. It would be maybe be helpful to inform visitors that only MTN works in the area, not Vodacom.
Additionally, the wood available at the honesty shop was wet, making it very difficult to get our evening fire going. We eventually had to buy a bag of wood from Hazyview. We also found a pot in our tent that had a strong smell of curry. Despite washing it several times, the smell persisted, and we couldn’t use the pot.
These issues aside, we still had a pleasant stay and hope these suggestions help improve the experience for future guests.
- Willaims (5/5): Passable - Nice .Location Definitely not.value.for.money as they are quite expensive and.you still have to pay.seperatly for cleaning.g.services. . I think they rip.south africans and foreigners off
- Sarah (10/5): Therapeutic - Self catering, we did not order breakfast There was load shedding and limited network coverage
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- Bayly (8/5): Well maintained and clean, peaceful and lovely pool - Tranquility and comfortable tents Water leak under kitchen sink. Dustbin was cleared only once in 5 days attacking a lot of flies
- Lethabo (8/5): Very good -
- Forbes (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mamoji (8/5): Very good - Location of the tents next to the river the hiking trail must be maintained especially next to the river, we did feel safe therefore didn't complete the hike
- Sizwe (10/5): The best experience ever, tranquility was the order of outthe day. We will definitely come back. - On check in our tent was super clean and the furniture exceeded our expectations. The serenity and tranquility of this place is unmatched. Our booking was for three nights and on checking in, only 3 toilet papers were provided for a family of five. It would be great to be notified that we can receive additional toilet paper should a need arise.
- Gert (10/5): We really enjoyed every moment of our stay - Close to the water N/a

- Unterslak (10/5): Exceptional - Fabulous stay however the condition of the road is unsuitable unless you have a high vehicle. This should be mentioned before booking…we had two flat tyres and undercarriage scraped
- Caroline (10/5): Great place, an adventure for the kids. We look forward to our next Africamps holiday! - Fun to stay in a tent but with all amenities. Great birdwatching from the terrace in the morning. Also loved the pool and one year old loved the kids play house! We enjoyed sitting around the fire and being able to get marshmallows (sticks included) at the honesty bar.
