Guest Reviews
- Tsukasa (10/5): - Each room was very clean and maintained like a first-class hotel. The hosts were very kind, and I truly enjoyed my stay.
- Ewa (10/5): - Very well situated, close to the bus station, around 20-30 minutes walking distance from the old town and the beach. Clean, spacious bathroom and a very nice and helpful owner who does his best so every guest feels good. The kitchen is really small and for me (I am vegan and not exactly a fan of the smell of meat) the smell was sometimes disturbing.
- Corne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Corne (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, central, price Perhaps sharing with other people, but was lucky with our room mate
- Corne (10/5): Exceptional - Location is central, near public transport, Lars made sure the place is in an immaculate condition.supermarket is across the road I do not want to say, do not like, but be aware due to the town's demographics, be aware of climbing a lot of stairs, but this is also what makes is so unique and beautiful. It would be great to open the shutters as the view is absolutely gorgeous, but do take note, it is still available by pulling the shutters horizontally. Take note, you might share the room with diff people
- Grace (1/5): Bad -
- Bailey (6/5): It's a nice hostel room, but the location is hard to get to. - The facilities were great, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was good, and the host was very nice. The location was really difficult to get to even without luggage since there were so many uneven stairs to get there, and the building didn't have an elevator. There was also no air conditioning, although they did have fans.
- Melissa (6/5): You must be fit to reach this room - Beautiful view Host didn’t want to give me a key to the room because I was ‘only staying one night so don’t really need one’ which I found odd. When I asked for one he couldn’t come up with one to give me. Not too convenient to get to but could be worse.
- Get (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (10/5): Exceptional - I really enjoyed my stay. I had some problems with my phone and my bags were heavy so someone spoke with my parents, wandered around looking for me, and then carried my bag up SEVERAL flights of stairs all while being kind. I loved the owner as well. He is so smart and knows so much about history so everyone should take time to speak with him and learn from him. There’s also an amazing nail salon nearby and had a great manicure there so that was a plus. It’s right next to a grocery store too which is great. It was great, nothing went wrong. I felt very safe and it was a perfect home base. Obviously it’s a hostel so understand that but it’s a very homey experience so it’s more like staying over at someone’s house.
- Vaidabla (3/5): Poor - There is a bizzare age limit for female guests, male owners are staying in the same flat and are being loud at night.
- Theresa (1/5): Bad - This is not a hostel, it's more like couchsurfing with all the uncomfortable undertones women might recognize — except here, you're paying for it! The host, a middle-aged man, has moved into the living room and charges €73 for two nights, plus expects small talk with young women. He applies an age limit for his female guests, which feels very suspicious. I didn’t know he sleeps right next to the offered shared room, which made me uncomfortable. He writes in the plural form, as if there’s a hostel team, but it’s his private apartment and he’s alone with the guests. He insists on handling all communication through WhatsApp instead of email or the booking platform, and then ambushed me with a message asking whether we could stay in touch, which felt very inappropriate. I didn’t feel safe and would not recommend this place to other women. He will likely respond to this review as aggressively as he has to others, but ladies, I want you to know: be aware!
- Sandra (8/5): Great base to explore Dubrovnik - The host was very helpful - I needed an doctor out of hours and he helped me figure out where to go. Cannot speak for the kitchen as we ended up eating out. Everything was very clean and well explained. It's a little bit annoying if you need the toilet and someone is having a shower
- Emily (9/5): Superb - This place had everything you needed for a couple of days stay in Dubrovnik. Rooms of 3 were also great as it wasn’t crowded. Really great location if you’re catching a bus the day you leave / transport to the airport. It was more of a homestay and the people living there were really respectful and accomodating, plus the place was super clean. It was hot in the rooms at night but with fans it was okay.
- Plančiūnaitė (9/5): Superb - Nice shower, rooms with not too many people. Host is agreeable and nice, seems to care about his clients. I felt safe. To keep the luggage for the day or use the washing machine was very expensive, better to leave the luggage at the port or bus station, they take 0,66€ for an hour.
- Mirelle (6/5): Pleasant - I like that the dorm is girls only, it's not always easy to find - it's the reason I chose it. It's not too far from the bus station though old town is quite far. It's quite peaceful and clean. It's on the cheaper side for accommodation for Dubrovnik so not bad for a budget traveller. I know that Croatia is madly expensive nowadays, but I feel that the value for money is not the best as I stayed in hotels and whole apartments in other places for half the price. It's basically couch surfing as the host lives there himself too so not the typical social hostel. There are a lot of stairs to walk up so be aware if you have heavy luggage or not the best health.
- Lara (3/5): It a worthy just for 1 night, more than that don’t - It was clean Your not allowed to stay in the room from 10am to 1 pm, you have to pay for 15 euros to use the laundry machine, it takes 3 hours and they don’t have a dryer, can’t use the oven, they don’t have microwave
- Fang-yi (9/5): Superb - Amazing window view
- Kagirwa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joana (8/5): Very good -
- Nasiha (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel was very clean, close to a bus station and had a great view on Dubrovnik. The host was being helpful and a very kind-hearted person! The price is fair and not overpriced like other accommodations in Dubrovnik.
- Joana (9/5): Simple but good value for money - Very clean. There's no bunk beds which I hate because I don't like climbing them. The dorms only had 3 people and all female. Residential area so very calm. There's a fan and window at the room. We can use kitchen and drink water from the tap. Free towels and sheets. The kitchen is not super big but it has the essentials.
I had read the reviews so I knew this was the house of the male host, so I was not shocked. As a solo female traveller safety and cleaniness are a concern to me but I decided to give it a try because it had a good cleaniness rating, was close to the bus/port and no bunk beds. Lars was very friendly and I didn't feel unsafe. It allowed me to visit Dubrovnik while not spending a lot of money. Ofc its always better when its all females, but the other options were 10-20€ more expensive in mixed dorms with more people (8 or 12 people) so overall this was a good value for money. The stairs! But not much to do here, you'll definetely get a lot of cardio. There was only one bathroom which can be tricky but then again nothing to be done here its how the house is built.
As an improvement suggestion I'd say a marker to label the food would be a good idea and a mirror in the rooms so we can prepare ourselves without using the bathroom this way it could be freed for other guests. Also AC in the rooms would be a good idea. It was not unbearable hot (window + fan) but with AC it would be more confortable.
I would also prefer to pay by card as I don't like to carry cash and this was not possible through Booking.
- Ellen (2/5): Very poor -
- Olesia (8/5): Good for 1 night. - Good for 1 night. Close to the bus station. Warning: it is a regular apartment with 2 separate rooms for rent, a host sleeping in the common area.
- Daniela (9/5): Superb - The owner was the best! And the view from bathroom was 10/10 You have to call befor your arrival, which is not mentioned in the instructions
- Andreia (9/5): Perfect affordable place to spend the night in Dubrovnik - I really like how cosy the space is, and the view is amazing!!! The bathroom is huge and very well equipped with hangers for each person as well as space to put our stuff. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe there, and the host (he is a male) treated me like I was family. He helped me cook dinner and let me leave my luggage for the day and shower after I checked out. I also needed to do some laundry, and there was everything needed there to do it. In the kitchen, I had everything I needed, and despite being a small fridge, there was plenty of space for everyone. Be aware that the kitchen is only for light meals. The location was very near the bus station and port, which was helpful. There are also lots of supermarkets and restaurants near by. There was nothing I particularly didn't like. Just be aware it's around a 40-minute walk to the old town (you also have public transportation), and you have to go up lots of stairs (like everywhere in the city) to reach the house. This is not a social hostel, it's perfect if you are looking for a place to sleep. There is only 1 bathroom and no mirrors outside, which can be messy if there are lots of girls there, but it didn't give me any trouble during my stay.
- Franc10 (4/5): Disappointing - the place is cleaned • In the description they say it's a female dormitory and, yes, you sleep in a room with 2 girls but it's an apartment where there are 2 men living. There is no privacy at all.
• There are too many stairs, not only to arrive to the house but also it is at the fourth floor with no lift.
• I needed to pay card but he wanted only cash and I never got a receipt.
- Andrea (9/5): Great place! - Lars was an amazing host. He made me feel really welcomed. The appartment has a great view. The bed and pillow were really comfy and clean. The bathroom has a lot of space. Overall, is a great place to stay. You have to walk quite some stairs but the city is all like that so maybe just have it mind to pack light.
