Guest Reviews
- Brinkerhoff08 (6/5): Pleasant - It is a great location. We took day trips to Conwy, Betws-y-Coed, horseback riding, and the falls nearby. The outdoor garden/river area is beautiful and the view from the dining room is peaceful. I would like to give a higher review, but a combination of factors really impacted our enjoyment here.
I really didn't like the energy bill. As another posts notes, I take a vacation to get away from those stresses. I budgeted our overall trip based on the nightly costs, so to have an additional unknown was stressful. We are from outside Wales (and the UK), so I had no idea what to expect. We ended up not heating the house much because of a high bill we saw a previous person had. That left us uncomfortable for just spending time and being able to enjoy the home. I would much rather pay a nightly rate to include use of the amenities (like heat, oven, and washing machine) without have to worry about that unknown additional costs.
Also, probably because the rain and nature of an older home, the house smelled musty the whole time. We tried airing it out by opening windows, but that just made the house cold.
The bathroom needs a way to vent the steam (wood stays damp and is discolored black and may be part of the smell issue).
- Jack (9/5): Fantastic stay in a lovely old cottage - Its a lovely cottage situated right by a beautiful river scene Everything was really amazing apart from one minor thing that niggled me. I completely understand the reasons as to why we had to pay for the energy cost but as it's a getaway from the norm of day to day life (i.e. paying bills) the last thing i wanted to worry about was the gas and electric bill so felt that having to work out the cost of how much we had used a little alarming (potentially amounting to an additional £97 as per a previous guests energy costs that was shown on the form) and felt it hanging over me for the duration of the break as i was worried it would add up to a rather high additional cost for our stay. Our bill for the energy was only £22 for a 3 night break so perhaps giving guests a rough idea of the average cost per night would help .... or not showing the cost of a previous £97 bill would do the trick. Really really was a lovely stay (and we are looking forward to staying again).... just the way that that one thing could be a little better presented to the guests would be more positive
- Barry (10/5): Beautiful cottage, perfect setting. - Perfect location, less than 2 miles to Betws-y-Coed. Super handy for heading to other parts of snowdonia. Small, quaint, warm, tidy house upon arrival. Great WiFi considering location. Beautiful garden beside the river where we spent most of our evenings. Just perfect. Only one very small thing which is a tough fix in such an old house, shower pressure not super, always piping hot but not a great flow.
- Sam (8/5): Lovely cottage in a great location - The location is perfect. Quiet and beautiful. Had a fantastic three days. The shower is terrible but there is a bath.
- Michelle (9/5): Awesome - Didn’t have to disturb anyone to get keys. There was a very helpful guide to the place. Lovely little cottage on the river. Host very attentive, there a welcome snack
