Guest Reviews
- Tâm (10/5): Tuyệt vời sẽ quay lại -
- Lê (10/5): -
- Muhammad (7/5): Good -
- Shaked (1/5): Bad - The room was so bad but the thing that bothered me mostly was just the horrible attitude. I just left, wouldn't stay there even for one night.
- Bronwyn (9/5): Enjoyed our stay. Happy to recommend. - Breakfast wasn’t included, but reasonably priced. The omelette was delicious.
- Ash (6/5): Pleasant stay - We had a corner room with two windows so we had a fantastic view of the cloud.
Food was good. Hot water, motorbike rental and booking buses and excursions, Landry, water, it's got it all! (Apart from comfy beds.) The beds are really hard memory foam which I didn't find comfy at all. Our room was basically the size of our bed which was inconvenient for placing our backpacks and doing anything but sleeping.
- S (10/5): Exceptional - Very good hospitality….
- Lydia (3/5): Not great - Not much Dorms didn’t seem like they had been cleaned and beds were dirty we had booked more nights in a private room but they had over booked so we had to go elsewhere
- Urben (10/5): Good location with very comfortable dorms! Everything you need and more :) - Good location with very comfortable dorms! Everything you need and more :) N/A
- Linus (7/5): decent 👍 - Nice building, the staff were nice and the beds were comfy rooms were very cold and the shower only stayed warm for a couple of minutes
- Isaac (7/5): Decent stay with nice staff, friendly guests too. - The lady owner is really nice when you see her, the dorms had walls and provides a higher sense of privacy. Our dorm was located upstairs and outside but the bathrooms are inside. We ended up locked out one morning and had to wait for someone to walk passed to come let us in.
- Abby (5/5): Ok for needing somewhere to stay, I’m sure it could be in the summer months - 30 minute walk from centre of Sapa.
Nice courtyard/seating area outside which I’m sure would be lovely in the summer The room was incredibly damp (could smell it also), zero circulation, woke up with a sore throat due to this and my bags were damp.
Unfortunate, there is no temperature controls in the rooms so I just don’t think it’s made to handle the winters.
Room was incredibly cold at night.
Showers, sink area and toilets could do with being cleaned more frequently - not the best.
- Agustri (8/5): The woman host is friendly and flexible, I came in the morning and she let me check in early -
- Genuino (3/5): don't go here. they don't clean their beds and bathrooms - super dirty. beds has a very bad smell overall cleanliness
- Juan (7/5): Good -
- Xavier (7/5): Good - That it had a 24h front desk and could order buses from there to pick you up. The receptionist wasn't normally there or if you had reserved a bus or something, she wasn't making sure that you would get it, although she later talked to me on the phone to confirm I was getting on the bus. It is true that she was alone though, all day every day so I don't totally blame her.
- Xavier (5/5): Good stay that could be improved if cleanliness was checked and if the property was maintained better. - the property was really lovely, we spent a lot of our time outside playing cards and taking in the beautiful mountain views. the location is really good and only a short drive away from the hustle and bustle (the property is very quiet). we went on the day trekking tour with zu and it was our favourite experience in vietnam! however, you definitely get what you paid for! we had a group of 7 australians, and the mould on the ceilings, bed sheets, pillow cases and even pillows, scared us a fair bit. there were mouldy mushrooms growing from the floor in some of the bathrooms. the second night at this accomodation we watched the footy on their huge tv and then our room got infiltrated by an army of flying termites (which looked an awful lot like our australian wasps) but the lovely lady who ran the place assured us that they were harmless. we had to duct tape the gaps in the walls shut to stop them coming in! it was scary but a very funny experience.
- Ali (8/5): Very good -
- Guillermo (8/5): I’ll recommend this place for the price that is very fair for what you will got and for the views and the location. 8 - Very fair price for what you got. I’ve had the room connected to a long balcony with great views of the mountain. The staff is nice and can speak English.
They have various services for drinks, laundry… and organise tours, I haven done it but the owner helped me with good information about sapa. Not lockers in the room.
- Chong (9/5): Superb - Clean and quiet.Surrounded by forest and great views.Reasonable price and nice staff. Highly recommended. Nothing
- Andriy (9/5): Superb -
- Nikolas (10/5): Exceptional - Good Hostel and very good tourist service.
Had an amazing ha giang loop tour.
- Jakub (5/5): Beware of this cash grab - The staff was generally friendly and helped us i.e. when we needed to clean our dirty shoes or ask for directions around Sa Pa. Given the climate and location, the building was clean. There is a nice shared area inside and outside the Bungalow where many people can hang out together. There were no lockers to hide valuable items which makes no sense in a hostel where you share rooms with random people.
The major issue is that the stay isn't actually cheap ws advertised on Booking -- being a group of 9 people, we picked a "10-bed mixed dormitory room", reserving that whole space. Upon arrival, to our surprise, the host wanted us to pay 9x the price which was shown on the reservation. For reasons he couldn't explain, the room option name of our choice did not reflect the fact that we booked one BED not ROOM and that it's my fault for not choosing 9 " dormitory rooms" to be booked.
Guess what, it's the host's role to make sure the booking info is correct and not misleading, they can actually change the rented room type to reflect reality. How could anyone guess that reserving 9 ROOMS is the correct way to go? Smells like a cash grab. For this price, there were much better options to choose from in Sa Pa and we wouldn't stay in Garden Bungalow, Card payments were not accepted.
Side note, the owner was visibly infuriated that I didn't buy his overnight transport to our next destination and even told me so? We had this thing already figured out before booking the stay at ur place🤦🏻
- Mariano (8/5): Very good -
- Alec (4/5): Overall if you need to stay somewhere for one night it’s just about passable. Any longer and I’d look for another accomo - The staff are great, helpful and friendly. I was able to buy a book and be helped me booking a bus back out of sapa! The room was mouldy with spores all over the ceiling. It was very damp and warm, partially because other people had hung up wet clothes but also because the room was not well ventilated.
The bed was not particularly comfortable and it was very warm at night. There are ventilators but they only reach the bottom beds.
The showers were clean but tiny, and again not ventilated so were mouldy and if you have a bit shower it becomes a steam room.
We also had people checking in at 3am and just turning the lights in the room on and unpacking and making loads of noise.
Finally you are able to order breakfast but it’s not great, you only have one option which is two eggs with bread. We were doing the sapa trekking that day so we’re looking for a little more food but it wasn’t possible.
- Jaroslav (10/5): Exceptional -
- Judith (9/5): Recommend to everyone traveling to Sapa - I loved the amazing view of the mountains. There is a restaurant. Service was excellent. WIFI was ok 2 km from town. I totally recommend. Would stay again. Happy customer. nil
- Swanny (7/5): Good - The house is beautiful
The menu is cheap
The staff is friendly and knows what they are doing staff not available when needed
property very far from Sapa (40min walk) and only cars available on grab
- Johnston (1/5): Bad - The mattresses were hard and had bed bugs. We were supposed to stay for a couple of nights but cut it short after one night as it was that bad. Even though I had bed bug bites all over myself the reception tried to get us to pay for three nights and the woman there threatened to walk away with my passport if we didn’t pay three nights. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT THIS PLACE
- Tom (9/5): Superb - Staff where super helpful with the late check in even though I couldn’t tell them our bus was delayed due to lack of phone sim . Managed to get in contact over Wi-Fi at the place and they told us to goto the room and will sort out in the morning. Super great breakfast and nice coffee would stay again when in sapa . Comfy beds and pillows and good Wi-Fi connection.
- Tuan (10/5): Exceptional - Atmosphere Small share toilet
- Jaroslav (10/5): Best place to stay and eat in Sapa. - The personal, beds were comfortable. Great cheap food.
- Kelly (8/5): Nice stay but weird staff members - The bed had a curtain so there is privacy. Downstairs there is a big common area and you can order food. It was pretty quiet. The main staff member was always high, there was a lot of confusion about which bed I needed to stay in, he was a little bit erratic...
- Scarlett (8/5): Very good -
- Maciej (10/5): Exceptional - Best place I ever been. So beautiful ❤️
- Holly (8/5): Very good -
- Eleni (6/5): Rustic, pretty, just don’t expect luxury. - The property is in a lovely location, it’s very cute and peaceful. I really loved the feel of it, it was so pretty. The staff let me check out of the room late as I had a later bus booked, which was really nice of them. The laundry also smelled very nice and was cheap. It’s a 20 minute walk out of town, 5 minute taxi, not a bad spot, it’s peaceful and quiet. Staff did do whatever they could to help you, armed with google translate there’s nothing you can’t do. Food was limited but tasty and cheap. Looked like they had a big tv and other reviews say Netflix, but I didn’t use this so I’m not 100%. I wouldn’t say it’s necessarily a huge deal as long as you don’t expect luxury. The place is rustic, we had a heatwave and there was no air conditioning, there was a fan though which was appreciated, it just doesn’t really help in the little cubby beds. But it’s just one of those things. Due to the location being garden based we had a bit of an infestation of flying beetles every night particularly if you had the lights on past 10. The window wouldn’t close properly, so there wasn’t much we could do other than hide in bed with the lights off. But again this is kind of part of the charm of the place, it’s rustic and a cabin in a garden, nature has bugs, it’s not a modern hotel, but that’s what you sign up for. So if you don’t mind bugs and being a bit hot or cold if it’s winter, I think you’d enjoy. Also the fridge with drinks in wasn’t on so the drinks weren’t cold which was always a bit sad when you’ve been boiling hot all day.
- Kristijonas (8/5): Very good -
- Jack (9/5): 100% recommend this place, all the positives above plus it is a beautiful building. Incredibly peaceful. - Good water pressure in the showers, great hair dryers, friendly staff, close to the town but far away enough to be quiet, cheap motorbikes to rent, cheap meals (and plentiful) to buy, comfortable beds, decent privacy, good price. Only negative I can think of is that the moped they rented us was pretty awful, but still did the job.
- Gregory (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marketa (8/5): Very good - Good quality for the price. It was little bit cold.
- Clarie (9/5): Wonderful Stay - My room was cozy. The host is very helpful in every way, they're all very friendly as well and speak good english. Food was fantastic! The bathroom and toilet are downstairs, which was a little annoying.
- Elena (9/5): Good value for money - Very nice common area, cheap price and comfortable beds. Nice staff, they provide laundry service and hot showers. Very far from the city center and restaurants.
- Joker (10/5): Good choice is priority - beautiful local, comfortable space. Friendly employee. The meal is simple but not rich
- Daphne (8/5): Very good - Booked this as a place to sleep after arriving in the middle of the night. Basic, but everything we needed! Note that it's a little outside of the city center. If you rent a motorbike, you'll be there in 5 minutes.
- Jordan (1/5): Bad - Location was okay and the beds were comfy. The staff were very rude and some were unhelpful. We arrived late in the evening after a long bus ride and were told they had food. When we asked for items on the menu (menu given was a breakfast menu)the staff member told us they weren't available. The staff member went back and forth to the kitchen 5 seperate occasions to see if the had the food items available making this much longer process than it needed to be. One item that was asked for was bread, butter and jam and this wasn't even available. My partner was ignored at the front desk when asking a question. There was no where to put our large bags so we had to sleep with them. All the staff seemed clueless and we wouldn't stay here again.
- Enya (2/5): Don't book the tours there, beware of the owner !! - Room was quite clean, and they had a hair dryer According to the stay, the room was not isolated at all so it was very cold.
But the actual horrible thing is the owner who harrased me with phone calls after the stay when I gave him my number in trust he will use it properly, he trys to sell overpriced tours and is not reliable at all !!
- Aakanksha (8/5): Great stay! Clean but little far from center!! - The room is amazing, facilities are good, bathroom neat and clean.
Except for location it is a perfect stay.
The only problem is that the property is about 2.5 kms away from the center of Sapa.
If you can rent a bike, then no problem.
I had to walk to center to get cabs and for food.
Also, the bike taxis or apps don't work in sapa.
The only way to get a taxi is from sapa centre so staying there makes sense. The location
- John (9/5): Manager Mike is the best to count on! Nice Alpine feel to this inn - Reception, travel agent, hotel manager, head waiter all wrapped in one person, Mike took excellent care of me from getting me several cups of hot tea to loaning me his extra jacket to warm up on the very frigid winter's day when I arrived at this very nice alpine-theme like inn. Mike proved to me his skills set immediately: he arranged very efficiently and quickly the way I wanted, as well as at the price I wanted to pay while I was in Sapa. I usually do trip planning on my own as a solo traveler, but Mike listened to me carefully and then executed an excellent plan from being sure my hostel stay was pleasant and then with his taking the time to coordinate seamlessly a wonderful 2-day trekking trip, a luxury van transfer to Lao Cai, then two rail tickets from Lao Cai to Hanoi, then on to Hue. What a nice guy to top of his efficiency, one of the best people I met in Vietnam working in the travel industry! Thanks a lot, Mike! You are the best!! The hostel needs room heating in winter; otherwise, room is too cold, even with the two comforters I used. Inasmuch, the hot showers, unlimited hot tea and real fireplace burning firewood compensated.
- Lecuna (10/5): Exceptional - Very accommodating and funny receptionist. The place is cool, same for the room a bit cold sometimes, beside that I would definitely recommend especially at this price.
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Horňáček (5/5): Passable - I only stayed for couple of days but my friend stayed longer:
cheap, quit place, Netflix so you can have movie night, at least one english speaking person in the staff, nice view they have to be better on hygiene. The kitchen is to dirrty, the cutlery and the drinking glasses where often cleary not cleaned with anough hot water and soap and washed again. Too little warm wather in shower and if you go there when it’s cold make sure to bring with you plenty of warm clothes because it is not isolated, space between the walls and not a heating system so it is so cold that it will come fogg out of your mouth. Do they wash the bedding between different guests? My friend stayed there for weeks and she never once saw them doing that, only made the bed look pretty and sprayed with parfume… She allso got food poisoning and where so ill that she had to go to hospital after eating only food from there so please, step on the hygiene.
- Yeboah (9/5): Superb -
- Pierre-louis (8/5): Very good -
- Engel (9/5): You won't believe you will get so much for such a small price - Mike and the staff is just amazing!
Got upgraded to a private room for free and it was very helpful as i was sick. Overall the place was pretty clean and with great vibes. Mike gave me earplugs when i checked in so the noise from people walking around wouldn't bother me (there was no noise btw). The staff was super helpful and did everything to help me out. Great showers! The location is pretty outside the city center so you should rent a bike. If you are 2 people with luggage the private room might be a bit too small for you...
But overall amazing place for ridiculous price!
- Luca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (6/5): Pleasant -
- Eilidh (5/5): Good value but freezing cold. - Very good value for money. Mike is very friendly and helps everyone. Free towels. The property is still undergoing maintenance however it’s really cool. Two hairdryers. The temperature, it’s freezing. There’s no soap to wash your hands or towels to dry them. The atmosphere is a bit cold. The food situation isn’t very straight forward - not everything available and dinner items for breakfast, no coffee when ordered.
- Despoina (8/5): Very good -
- Luc (8/5): Very good -
- Tessa (10/5): Exceptional - This hostel was located at a good location, not inside of the city but walking distance.
We had some nice view and they organized many different tours and can help you find a bus to your next destination. The staff was nice, spoke good English and was helpful !
- Kristina (9/5): Superb - Great value, comfortable beds, beautiful view from the terrace. They set the fire place for the guests to warm up when it’s cold outside. They also have hot water and delicious food available throughout the day. It’s 20min walk to the city. I would stay there again! The staff were lovely! Hot water runs out fast
- Dhaval (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was wonderful about the stay. Mike is an excellent host who let me check in at 5 in the morning without any extra charge and also helped me in every possible way to enjoy SAPA in the best way possible. Total recommend
- Britt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Celestina (10/5): Very cool experience in Sa Pa. Beautiful view and yummy breakfast and dinner if you need. Staff really helpful the guy a - Really pretty and nicely curated place. Bathrooms and communal areas really clean.
The staff is super friendly and helpful. Everything was really nice.
- Dury23 (10/5): Top - Clean, hot water showers, polite, cheap. Top
- Andrzej (10/5): Nice stay - Nice place, with great surroundings. fantastic host, easy to deal with. It is around 5 min drive from the city center. During the night taxi is 100K
- Chialuen (8/5): Very good - The bed is comfortable. A bit far from city center.
- Laura (7/5): Good -
- Mithil (9/5): Superb -
- Miya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miya (10/5): Great hostel in Sapa! - It's lovely place! I stayed much longer than I expected and had great time! Staff is really friendly and helpful and food is great too! Great place to meet other travelers! I was during New year and been invited for the dinner by vietnamese people. Amazing experience, I can only highly recommend this hostel!
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- Javier (8/5): Super cheap and good facilities - Comfy beds, clean and nice breakfast Too far from the town
It was a little cold in every part of the hostel
- Charline (10/5): Great experience at Mike’s Garden Bungalow! - Great stay in Sapa! The place is charming, wooden-made and there is a lot of backpackers passing by. We enjoyed a room as Mike upgraded us on our late arrival in the night and were meant to stay in the dorms, it was really confortable and the shared bathrooms were cleaned and fine. Breakfast and menu for lunch/dinner are basic but really good. Finally, Mike was great to get any recommendations on tours or transportation, he knows everyone everywhere so he will certainly be able to book you a trip or any activities you’re looking for. We actually booked the Ha Giang Loop with him and it was an incredible experience with a small group!!
- Henrysson (7/5): Good - The manager is really helpful with organazing tours, bikes, taxi and everything.
Beds are comfortable!
Definitely worth to stay here! When it's cold outside it gets damp/wet inside, even in the beds.
- Hobie (10/5): Nice friendly place - The staff were really friendly! Also just a beautiful place to stay
- David (9/5): Great hostel. Super staff! - Mike at the front desk is super helpful and friendly.
They give you a cup of tea when you check in too.
Beautiful old building that has been recently converted to a hostel.
The dorms are very comfortable. They are capsule-style. Each unit has two reading lamps and plenty of electrical outlets, and a privacy curtain of course. The price is amazing!
They can arrange all your travels at the front desk and they have a restaurant too.
Showers are clean and spacious. The only downside is that this hostel is not more centrally located. It's a very easy Grab or taxi ride from the centre or a 30-45 minute walk.
- Nguyen (10/5): great hotel - calm, good view
- Julia (9/5): Very recommendable! - Very beautiful place, clean and comfortable rooms and common spaces (indoor and outdoor), very helpful host and nice staff, easy to book tours and buses, etc. (Mike has all the offers ;) ), Nice location (away from busy center, but still within walking distance), vegetarian option in the restaurant, nice atmosphere in common spaces! The walls are thin and the floor shakes with every step, so it can be noisy. The night-bus we booked through the Sapa Garden Bungalow was very chaotic and we didn't get good information about it, when booking it. But all in all we had a very nice time in this place!
- An.na_na (10/5): Perfect - Mike the owner is amazing. I arrived, he checked me in, showed me the room and gave me a lot of tips for my motorbike route. He even saved the good points in my google maps. I stayed in the dormitory. The beds are all pod beds and have curtains, so you have privacy. The shower is hot and super good preasure and you even get a toothbrush if you don't have. So it's perfect for the price you pay.
- Alek (10/5): Excellent value hostel with a super helpful owner! - With Genius discounts, this was probably the least expensive hostels I've ever stayed at, but also one of the best. It's an incredible value. The rooms have great little cubicles for privacy and the beds are comfortable. The food and coffee are delicious, and the whole place has the feel of a hotel in a completely different tax bracket. The water pressure in the shower is perfect and there's plenty of hot water.
I also want to personally give a shout-out to the owner, Mike. Mike has been nothing but helpful, especially during a recent situation with a wrong visa. He is incredibly patient and helped me out in a big way when my dumb @$ made a huge mistake. Honestly, for the money, I couldn't ask for more.
- Surendar (9/5): Superb - That place is beautiful and peace
- Isti (10/5): Exceptional - The place is realy good, best price and have any recomendation place. I took hiking to Fansiapan and it was so amazing. Check the weather before you come to Fansipan.
- Jenny (10/5): 10/10 well-deserved stars ♡ - Beautiful view, comfortable beds, clean, friendly and helpful hosts. Spent a whole week here and it was a lovely stay all around. Adorable and playful puppies at the neighbour’s was a fun bonus :) Incredible value in a peaceful, quiet location a bit out of the main town. Highly recommend a stay here. Thank you everyone!
- Mathilde (10/5): Mike, the one-man-band - Mike is the "one man band" making night check-in, breakfast, scooter rental and tours. He organised everything in the best way possible and always knew in advance what we needed.
The room was nice and clean and breakfast good for the price we have paid.
I really suggest this beautiful place!
- Chau (10/5): Worth every penny! - One of the best place to stay in Sapa for sure. Highly recommended. Rooms are lovely and cozy, with nice view to nature. Staffs are nice, friendly and so helpful, make me feel like we're family. Definitely return and stay for more! Cannot find anything to complain
- Janne (8/5): Very good -
- Anika (10/5): Exceptional - The stuff was very friendly. The beds are super cozy and clean, giving you some privacy with the curtains. The place is quite with a nice backyard. There was also a nice restaurant/sitting area downstairs where you could just chill and get drinks and good food. I liked it so much that I extended my stay.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Overlingas (10/5): Exceptional - The staff is helpful, the shower and toilet are very neatly equipped, I lived in a shared room, the mattress is comfortable, you have privacy even though it is a shared room. Very good price. Far from the center.
- Carlito (10/5): Exceptional - The hostel is very nice and clean, the emplacement is outside city so very peaceful and easy to visit different places around the city !
Mike and the staff are so nice and welcoming, he will help you for everything ! He’s a really good person and I really enjoyed staying in his place ! You can trust him for activities and other advices 🙏
- Antonia (9/5): Superb - The owner is really nice I arrived late he didn’t want that the others in the dorm get disturbed and also he wanted me to get a good sleep so he upgraded me into a single room which was really nice.
The garden and the atmosphere is really nice too.
Definitely value the money A little far out of town and breakfast options could be a little more but it was definitely worth the money (50000 including breakfast and tee/koffee)
- Ehret (7/5): Good -
- Yara (10/5): An amazing stay! - The staff, including Mike, were very kind and helped you with everything (tours, buses, etc.). The breakfast and dinner are very good, the rooms are very clean and cozy and the location is at walking distance from the centre. Would definitely come back here. /
- Clara (9/5): It was an amazing stay! I would highly recommend! - The food was great. The staff were lovely.
- Nicholls (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - The bungalow is in really nice place. We booked double bed room for a very good price. For an additional small price we got a very good breakfast. The host was very helpful, booked for us the cable car to Fansipan and gave as good advises for Sapa trips. He helped us with bus booking back to Hanoi as well. The atmosphere was friendly. In Vietnam is not allowed to throw toilet paper to the toilet. It is fine, but in this case the trash should be emptied more often due to a hygienic reasons.
- Chloé (5/5): Passable - Staff was really helpful and caring, room was small but the bed comfortable and nice view on the nature Shared bathroom, even with a private room, quite dirty and the water evacuation was blocked so all the water would spread in the next bathrooms...
Walls are too thin, and the floor is cracking a lot so quite noisy at night ...
- Erik (10/5): Very nice little homestay that really makes you feel at home. It’s newly opened and very clean. Mike who runs it with hi -
