Guest Reviews
- Deymah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cristina (9/5): Hidden Gem in the Middle of Al Balad - Very unique property with a lovely heritage feel to it, right in the middle of Al Balad. They have currently three different buildings, I stayed at the Beit Jokhdar. The suite is very spacious and extremely clean, with a super comfortable bed. The breakfast is great, a lot of traditional food served (foul, bread, falafel etc). The service is impeccable, specifically I would like to thank Asmath who was extremely helpful and kind. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Jeddah, a fantastic cultural experience with great comfort. The price is very high considering the lack of facilities (heritage building with limitations). Also, no lifts available and some of the suites are located on the 5th floor.
- Gasson (10/5): If you are going to Jeddah, and you want to remember it, stay at Al Balad Hospitality - The hotel is a window on history. It is in a series of restored buildings in the old city of Jeddah. It is how one imagines arabia should be. When I arrived the US Energy Secretary was there for dinner. The place was crawling with security. I can understand why. The restaurant on the top floor is so good that I invited 18 guests for dinner there on the strength of the breakfast they served me in the morning.
- Omaima (10/5): Exceptional -
- Omar (10/5): This is the superb place to stay at in Jeddah - Literally, everything Nothing
- Nada (10/5): Exceptional - I recently stayed at the hotel and was thoroughly impressed by its unique cultural vibe, elegant and luxurious interiors, and truly fantastic service. Every detail contributed to a memorable experience—from the artful décor that celebrated a rich cultural heritage to the meticulously maintained facilities that radiated sophistication. The staff was exceptionally welcoming and attentive, ensuring that every aspect of my stay was enjoyable. The warm ambiance and thoughtful touches created a perfect blend of comfort and style. Even though there were a couple of minor details, such as the occasional presence of bugs and slightly less soundproofing than expected, these were far outweighed by the many positive aspects that made my visit delightful. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for an immersive and exceptional experience.

- Taavi (9/5): Superb -
- Ehab (10/5): Living the old days in luxury - The location and the idea of renovating old houses and living the experience of residents of the past Reaching the location is so hard even with Google Maps. Also, I would prefer that the hotel staff wear the traditional customs of the past not today's customs.
Breakfast was delicious but I it would be better if bread can be fresher.
- Bruno (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miroslav (10/5): Very unique property that you simply have to see yourself to experience it and admire the full beauty of it. - Seamless experience from the booking through arranging the airport transfers and tour of the old city. Hotel staff was always responsive and made our short stay a great experience. Especially Mr Mohammed from the front desk who was always on had willing to help with anything we needed.
- Yasser (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (10/5): A really relaxing time. - Lovely building we stayed in. Loved the toiletries.
- Giuseppe (10/5): Will return - The courtesy and attitude of the staff, the atmosphere of the house, the quality of service and of the food.
- Luciana (10/5): A place for heritage lovers - The property, our bedroom, customer service, the breakfast & dinner. Basically everything. Nothing.
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional - We decided to stay in Al-Balad rather than book one of the larger hotels on the waterfront and could not have been happier with our decision. Al-Balad Hospitality is a collection of beautifully restored town houses in the heart of Jeddah old town each named after the family who owned it. From your doorstep you can wander through the pedestrianized streets soaking up the atmosphere and exploring the local crafts, cafes and culture. The hotel is a true experience of Jeddah heritage and the team embody Saudi hospitality. They organised a tour for us last minute which was a highlight of our stay. Note that the breakfast is actually a three course traditional menu and we didn't need to eat again until the evening.
- Sakina (10/5): - I had a wonderful and unique experience. They all made sure I felt the historical vibe of the area. I felt safe as a solo female traveler.
You have so much potential to be a world class tourist attraction

- Todd (10/5): Lovely historic property, in the heart of Al Balad - Very unique experience, to stay in a restored historic home in Al Balad. The staff were very kind and attentive. Breakfast was excellent. The room was very comfortable. A bit costly

- Paul (10/5): A truly unique experience that blends the rich cultural history of Al-Balad’s architecture with the modern conveniences - We stayed in the Jokhdar property which has been beautifully recovered to capture the history of the past while providing the luxury and comfort expected of a high end boutique hotel. From the warm phone call the day before arrival to confirm details; to the welcoming greeting on our arrival from the staff including the General Manager Milica who shared the wonderful history of the home and its renovation, we realized it would be a truly unique experience. Over the 3 days we experienced two different suite styles including one of the bedrooms in the Jokhdar Royal Suite and then the Jokhdar Deluxe Suite. Both were breathtaking rooms with high attention to details capturing the history while decorated in extremely tasteful furnishings. The thought to assuring comfort and modern conveniences was also appreciated (eg power recharges for iPhones/ipads, Bose audio speaker), the air conditioning was perfectly controlled, very comfortable beds and the breakfast was delicious and provided an experience in itself. We were assigned a “butler” named Zak who was very pleasant and fully attentive to our needs. Yet the whole team from the delightful Wissel who showed us the other homes (highly recommend touring the other 2 homes) and assured our dinner reservations at an outside restaurant, to the wait staff who served us breakfast, to the kind gentlemen who welcomed each entrance and drove us around on the golf cart, collectively demonstrated the strong team focus on assuring a quality experience unique to each guest. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a luxury retreat in an amazing boutique hotel that captures the history and cultural beauty that made the area a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There was some confusion on the exact room we had booked on booking.com versus what the hotel thought we had reserved. Not sure if this was booking.com as the rooms they showed did not seem to fully match the rooms in hotel. But the staff was very responsive and assured we had exactly the type of room we had hoped for (ie a sitting area for reading and relaxing) and, in fact, upgraded us to assure this. It was a perfect recovery and demonstrated the staffs focus on our experience and needs.
- Junko (10/5): A wonderful experience like being a princess! - I was impressed by the hospitality of the staff.
I went out to tell them that the pastries they served me at check-in were delicious.
When I returned, they had left them in my room.
All the food at the hotel was delicious.
They also gave us all sorts of advice to make our stay and after check out pleasant.
All of the hotel's facilities were lovely and made for a wonderful stay.

From the moment I walked in, the staff welcomed me with genuine warmth and kindness, immediately easing the stress I had been carrying. The check-in process was quick and efficient, which was such a blessing after my previous ordeal. Walking into my room felt like a huge sigh of relief—everything was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described.
This hotel not only provided me with a safe and cozy place to stay but also restored my faith in both hospitality and Booking.com. After feeling lost and frustrated, my experience here reminded me that there are still places that truly care about their guests.
I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for a reliable and welcoming place to stay. Thank you for being a true lifesaver and for restoring my trust in the hotel experience!
- Rana (8/5): Very good - late breakfast. had to miss it to catch my flight
- Fauzan (10/5): Magestic stay in an historic area. - Where to start. Every touch point like other guests mentioned. They really go out of their way. Definitely it’s been in my top 5 stays world wide.
Met 2 great humans Mohamad and Farman.
This area in balad is upcoming and the ministry is putting their best foot forward by revitalising these historic areas. OLD IS GOLD.

The serenity of the place, combined with the outstanding hos - The warm welcome we received from the staff, particularly ahlam , Wasal, and Mohammed, was heartwarming and truly exceptional. Their impeccable service and attention to detail made us feel valued and cared for. They worked together seamlessly as a complete team, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect.
Thanks to their efforts. You won't encounter any issues.
- Mohammed (10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful property, well renovated. Service and breakfast is excellent. The breakfast was Creative, building on original authentic dishes. One of the rooms toilet did have bad smell.
Stairs can be challenging if you have old people or kids
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helene (8/5): Wonderful property. Need to ensure guests are kept properly informed regarding alternative dining - The building and rooms are beautiful. The restoration has been carried out with great attention to detail. The food and beverages are excellent. We were not informed that the restaurant was closed for a private event on our first day. This information should have been shared with us at check in. We ended up having hunger station which was disappointing
