A very small / simple request (for a teabag) was refused and yet their website says they are ‘effortlessly luxurious’.
- Helen (7/5): This is a nice hotel but will not stay again for reasons listed above. - Comfortable, nice rooms,historic building Breakfast was out of many things every day. Whiskey bar was closed (Sun, Mon, Private party) every night we were there. There is a smell of chlorine from the pool in the lobby. We had stayed there before with some problems and were promised a $200 rebate, which was not honored. The hotel did not respond to reminders of this.

- Sarah (9/5): Iconic hotel in a great location. - The decor was lovely, the location was great, near the restaurants and shops of Foggy Bottom. A 10 minute walk to Georgetown for more food, shopping, and river cruises. A 15 minute walk to the Lincoln Memorial. The rooms were quiet and the staff friendly and helpful. The Spa was OK but we found the salt water pool difficult to swim in and the spa wasn’t very easy to sit in.

Loved the area and great hospitality Did not like spa front desk , was not acknowledged when I arrived to spa . Receptionist did not explain what was included , how I could get a massage did not tell me about anything and it was my birthday weekend . When walking away from desk her and another lady started talking about how I did not belong there. I felt so uncomfortable in that area.

Overpriced for nothing! Disgusting! 5. There was never staff available 6. Valet is not $45 like booking says; it’s freaking $65! Then the valet is never there when needed with YOUR car. 7. Any respect you make will be denied. 8. Check in is extremely late with an estate check out. They’re just trying trying to take your money. Very over priced and not worth it. The worse hotel experience! I will never go back. It was 5 stars but I wouldn’t even give it 1.

- Koilor (7/5): Meh. - Heated pool We were told we got an upgrade but we got a room that had missing numbers so we had to ask where the room was, one of the sink faucets wouldn’t stay on (we’d lift the handle all the way up and it would slowly fall down turning off the sink water), the toilet was extremely loud after flushing, the heater was loud and rumbling when it turned on, and the curtain was broken off one of its clips at the top so it wouldn’t fully close. Just thrown off by how that was an upgrade.
- Amanda (4/5): it was fine. Would not stay there again - Valet went well when I arrived. Check in was fine. Room was clean-did have a faint smell of mold, but not overwhelming. Bed was clean as was the bathroom. We had cocktails at the bar and we sat outside. The patio area was littered with cigarette butts, the tables were chipped and dirty, and the chairs seemed unstable. We went up to the rooftop bar area, we were told we could have dinner up there and we did not need reservations. Turns out you can only have appetizers, and we needed to make a reservation. The staff was friendly and made room. I met a co-worker there so it was just the two of us. Drinks were fine (absolutely astonished at the price of a singe drink and a charcuterie board). The staff was friendly, but the chairs are worn out. Little to no cushioning in the seat cushions and all very low to the ground. My room was at the end of a hall near a stairwell. All night long there were people in and out of that stairwell. The door would shut so hard that it rattled the door to my room as well as the glassware on the table. No instructions on how to use in room coffee maker. Went to breakfast was a bit early so I waited in the lobby. I did enjoy the coffee that was being offered. While I waited for breakfast I noticed how dirty the waiting area is, and how absolutely filthy the furniture was. I got discussed to be sitting there so I waited, standing, for breakfast. Breakfast was not good at all. Service was just mediocre at best. Charging people $38 for an omelet and no toast- crazy!!! Toast was cold. Also the coffee, just a regular cup of coffee was $7, or $10 for a pot, or I could walk to the lobby and get a free cup. Overall I do not understand the draw to this hotel. Totally overpriced and did not meet my expectations.

Room was spotlessly refreshed each day by housekeeping. View was great from room. Our hotel room and bathroom were large and pleasant. Coffee was available every morning in lobby. Hotel pool was delightful. Hotel is a very short walk from Kennedy Center. It was easy to use public transportion to access airport and museums and major sights Food was very expensive in dining room.

They sometimes have bike you can borrow to ride, nice to go to Georgetown, the National Monument, Lincoln center, which are not far. - very easy to hear all noise in room next door where there are connecting doors - promised river view room and only could see garden from room (not river view) - air conditioner did not work and had to have engineering come twice to fix, once at 11 pm - Engineering left floor soaking wet when they came to fix A/C. not tidy. - there was no coffee in the coffee containers in the lobby in the morning - there were no wipes to wipe down equipment in the gym; both containers empty. - overall left impression of old, not well maintained building with poor management.

The location is not great, no nearby bus station, and walking distance feels like walking through a high way (although not really a high way). Housekeeping is also not great. I made comments to the front desk about the quality of cleaning and it wasn’t improved. The staff was very slow in responding to requests. Sometimes I had to call three times to get an answer and then follow up again for the request. I probably wouldn’t stay there again mainly for location and services offered; they do not match the price.

- Linda (10/5): Wonderful vacation - Staff were so attentive and pleasant. The food was delicious. So good having the pool to unwind in after a busy day sightseeing. I would definitely recommend to anyone thinking of visiting Washington. So close to the waterfront where you will find lots of restaurants. Hotel was situated about an hours walk f rom most sights we had to get a taxi everywhere. That being said, it didn't bother us but just so others are aware.
