Guest Reviews
- Pasquale (8/5): Many potential and great qualities, need to read carefully - From the outside, the house is absolutely beautiful – a standalone building split into two levels, with private parking inside the gated property, and even shaded parking spots. We stayed upstairs, and the moment we arrived we were impressed. The highlight was definitely the large private terrace – well-equipped with a washing machine, sink, clothes rack, dining table, chairs, and shade. We had all our meals outside, including lunch, and even in the afternoon it didn’t feel too hot. Watching the sunset from the terrace was a real treat – peaceful and beautiful.
The apartment itself has been renovated and feels fresh and airy. The kitchen is spacious with plenty of counter space for preparing food, and there’s also a dining table inside in case you don’t want to eat outside. The bedroom and bathroom are also spacious. The furniture is a bit older, but has been nicely restored, and when you open all the windows, the entire place becomes wonderfully bright and full of natural light.
The location is also excellent – less than 100 meters to the coast, where there’s a rocky beach, clean water, and very few people. You can even see a bit of the sea from the terrace. There’s a supermarket less than a 3-minute drive away, though we recommend not going after 6PM – it gets very crowded. Several good restaurants are within walking distance, and it’s also a great base to explore nearby beaches and towns, all of which are lovely.
The check-in and check-out agent was very friendly and helpful, and gave us great local tips. While the house is spacious and bright, some of the “software” and small details need improvement. First, the TV is placed on top of the bedroom vanity, making that space unusable for getting ready, and not ideal if you want to watch TV during meals or from the living area. A better location would be in the lounge or dining space.
Another issue is the lack of mosquito screens. While we wanted to enjoy the breeze, we couldn’t open the outer windows during the day due to mosquitoes, which made the rooms feel stuffy and dark at times. Installing simple window screens would make a big difference.
The bathroom, while clean and newly tiled, has outdated fittings. The faucets and shower head are old and covered in limescale, and the holder for the shower head is loose. There’s also no shelf for shampoo or soap, so we had to leave everything on the floor. A couple of times when bending down to grab shampoo, the shower head fell – once even hitting me on the head. We mentioned this to the agent at check-out because it’s potentially unsafe, especially for children. Honestly, just a few low-cost updates in the bathroom would go a long way.
Similarly, the kitchen equipment could use some attention – we found plastic mugs that didn’t seem suitable for hot drinks like milk or tea. These small things detracted from an otherwise high-quality stay. It’s clear the host put a lot of care into the major features, but overlooked a few important details that impact the overall experience.
Also worth noting:
• Cleanliness was good – the place was tidy and well-maintained.
• Check-in time starts at 5 PM, which is quite late. In fact, it’s the latest check-in time we’ve encountered during our world travels.
• The apartment doesn’t provide any basic consumables (like toiletries, dish soap, or paper towels), so make sure to check the listing carefully. We missed that detail and had to pack an extra bag of supplies. You can pay extra for these items, but it’s something to be aware of.
