- Eric (10/5): Vue incroyable et personnel à l'écoute. - Emplacement, vue et gentillesse du personnel. Un frigo dans la chambre
- Ana (10/5): Excellent! - The location N/a
- Angela (5/5): Very run down - Nice view from hotel
Decent shower Very run down, not shabby chic just shabby. Very poor quality breakfast, dreadful coffee. Room small and large balcony really dirty with old dirty furniture and blown glass in door. No privacy on balcony, next door could see into our room and their smoking made us keep the windows shut.
- Michel (6/5): -

- Maggie (8/5): Very pleasant, good position, would stay again - Great position. We had a sea view room which was lovely. Very friendly staff. The whole place feels a bit tired. Could do with a freshening up. No room service the days we stayed
- Alison (9/5): Very enjoyable, in lovely surroundings. - Plenty of choice. Very good. Bed a little too soft.
Toast machine unreliable.
- Jeff (8/5): - My room was on the 3rd floor, how did you know I was able to take the stairs?

- kenneth (10/5): A super stay in the best location on Torquay - Super hotel very helpful staff and the location on babacome downs is just superb It was a bit to hot for me , not sure
who I would complain to about that
- Susan (7/5): The staff were friendly and helpful - I didn’t have a sea view but that was alright because I didn’t, spend much time at the hotel
Breakfast was fine I had a good table by the sea view window
I would have liked a safe in my room There was no sitting area inside during the day except the coffee area with hard chairs
- caroline (10/5): Lovely hotel, friendly staff good food and the most beautiful location - Beautiful, peaceful location No full length mirror in bedroom
- Michael (10/5): -
- Lysette (8/5): Really enjoyable break - fab breakfast and helpful staff. - On the front with parking if booked early enough which is important to us as we don’t use the car once we reach a destination. So need it to be safe and secure while we explore. Feel it needs updating quite old fashioned and needs a good freshen up. Just felt a bit dated but we had a good time and the staff were lovely all of them. Also great there was a Costa attached to the hotel.
- Lewis (7/5): -
- Ian (10/5): RELAXING - good breakfast
room small but clean
view amazing
- Yana (8/5): -
- Brian (10/5): Relaxing, comfortable Hotel with excellent staff and sea views - Excellent stay, hotel has stunning views across Babbacombe Bay, evening meal was very enjoyable and tasty. Very wide choice of Breakfast from traditional full English to Gluten free options & fruit. Very relaxing enjoyable atmosphere, spot on. All perfect.
- hazel (9/5): Wonderful stay, great staff, clean rooms, and great food. - Breakfast was superb, lots of choice, well presented , staff were very attentive, tables were well set, very enjoyable. Everything was perfect, my only one ask, would be a net curtain at windows leading on to balcony, just for privacy.
- Lynne (10/5): Local to my needs - Local to my needs Nothing
- Colin (8/5): Very nice place to stay - I like the location and the staff were very friendly property could do with some renovation I think 🤔 Nothing
- George (10/5): Friendly staff . Lovely food . Quiet location in late evening. Clean and comfy room . - View amazing . Breakfast really good and dinner exceptional.Room nice and cosy bed . Maybe a bit of updateting in the furniture. ie wardrobe and cupboards.
- algar (10/5): Overall excellent would recommend - Great food great view and location
- jennifer anne (8/5): very pleasant stay at the babbacombe hotel - We were able to reserve a parking space for a fee, breakfast & evening meal were self serve which suited us as we hate hanging around to be served in the morning. we were solo travellers but the main clientele were from coach trips but this made no difference to our stay, especially pleased with the choice of menu in the dining room, the chef was excellent and catering for a large number of people at the same time.We had a sea view room and the view was marvellous, we were pre warned that our room was over the concert hall and was noisy but music stopped at 10-30 so that was ok,we would use the hotel again if visiting Babbacombe not much to complain about. the bathroom sink was cracked & the toilet difficult to flush, there was however a big problem in our room with condensation and we did feel cold at times, we didn't feel the need to complain at the time as it didn't affect our enjoyment but pointed it out to the manager on departure so it could be rectified for the next occupant
- Gloria (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): Lovely location and the staff were just brilliant. - Right on the cliff overlooking the sea Nothing really. Except no mushrooms for the breakfast
- John (10/5): - Great location and value
- Mrs May (10/5): -
- Grzegorz (6/5): Pleasant, nice location, standard could be better for money. - The location. A little bit old fashion. Require refurb in places.
- Martin (9/5): Very pleased would definitely stay again - Location Room could have been warm when we arrived
- Dudley (10/5): - Breakfast, room and view was excellent. Better sized bath towels, need updating and preferably to bath sheets.
- Maurice (8/5): Overall a good stay. - Service very good, staff very good and chatty nothing seemed too much trouble. Sea view from our balcony was superb. Problem parking at the hotel and surrounding area even though it was mid October. We could only pay £10 per night on site for two out of four night stay. The last day we were allowed to park in a free bay to load the car and have a good Sunday lunch before setting off.
The balcony which we paid extra for was in need of a good clean and repaint, the table was covered in green algae, wasn’t really a pleasant place to sit and have a drink and enjoy the view.
- Laura (10/5): Our stay was lovely, thank you! - A very warm welcome, even when arriving late in the day. Everything was explained well and the staff were very helpful and kind. Rooms were nice, with amazing views and very comfy beds. Large Balcony in room 27 was lovely. Breakfast was delicious, with helpful and attentive staff. Only slight downside, was rather a small shower in room 29, difficult for a large man to comfortable shower in.
- DAVID (10/5): Happy days - Lovely hotel good food good entertainment friendly staff. What more could you ask for. All good
- Neil (8/5): -
- thomas (8/5): Would def go again - All was great The property was great and the staff but was a little disappointed with the evening buffet
- Stacey (6/5): -
- Pat (5/5): Wouldn’t stay again as too many trips up and downstairs. Tired looking decor and furniture old fashi - Beautiful view from room which had very old fashioned furniture. No table on balcony as shown on hotel description. Towels old and thin. Despite catering for many elderly and disabled people there was only one tiny lift which was difficult to get to. Luckily I am able to use stairs. As above apart from view. Felt like a school canteen in dining room but food ok except breakfast where fried eggs looked dry with skin on top.
- Vivienne (10/5): Retaining its old-fashioned, slightly refined, quiet charm - I came to stay here to see where my Mum and Dad stayed for their honeymoon in 1955! Previously The Sefton and popular. It retains a slightly old-fashioned style but tasteful. Nice ambience and pleasant clientele. Staff excellent. Breakfast cooked just as I like it. Nice views. Pleasant quiet area. Pleasant, spacious, light communal spaces, including coffee lounge, overlooking sea; background music not intrusive. Other hotels adjacent and main street not far away and attractions. In short, just the kind of place I like! The folded case rack fell out of the wardrobe onto me. Would be better if it was stored just in front of, methinks. Creaky floorboards above me and loud speaking gentleman on phone late. Solved by my trusty earplugs.
- Emma (10/5): -
- Jenny (8/5): -
- JULIAN (10/5): A very enjoyable stay with friendly staff. - Step out of the hotel straight onto the downs.
Lovely room and view from room 17 including a nice modern bathroom with a powerful refreshing bar shower.
Buffet breakfast all freshly cooked and warm,. We also had two excellent 3 course evening meals in the hotel.
Enjoyed the hotel entertainment and we even won a prize on the "Bingo".
Hope to return for a longer stay sometime soon. Very little to be critical of really perhaps the decoration could do with a touch up in places, however it is a busy hotel with a lot of footfall so to be expected really.
Oh, we could have done without the fire alarm going off in the early hours on the 2nd night!
- Glenn (10/5): I stayed with my bike for 1 night on a bike packing trip along the south coast of England. I had been camping, but the w - The staff were absolutely amazing. What a wonderful friendly bunch of individuals creating a happy atmosphere Nothing
- ASA (6/5): - Although very clean and tidy the hotel is dated and definitely needs an upgrade especially with making the rooms more soundproof.
During our stay the fire alarm kept going off during the night. We had to call reception to clarify if we needed to evacuate or not which we found poor as the majority of guests appeared to be quite elderly. There was no explanation or apology from staff the next day. This is a moderately expensive hotel and we expected better.
- David (4/5): - The location was okay with views of the shoreline but no practical access to the beach and the surrounding facilities were also a bit basic
- KEITH (9/5): -
- lorraine (8/5): Wonderful stay - The hotel was very clean. In a lovely location and the staff were very friendly. Close to m9del railway and a short walk to the venicular that takes uou to the beach.pp perfect if you want a few days doing nothing The queues for entry to the dining room. The hotel itself is dated. It's a hotel for the more senior guest. Would not recommend for families.
- Joanne (10/5): Perfect hotel for a relaxing break by the sea. - Excellent location. Sea view rooms with balconies are worth the upgrade. Good choice of breakfast and evening meal. Friendly staff. Nothing.
- Paula (10/5): Excellent and comfortable stay - Quiet
Food excellent
Lovely bar
Good experience Nothing
- Robert (4/5): -
- Margaret (10/5): Our stay at the Babbacombe hotel July 2025 - Our room was very nice, with a balcony. lovely step in shower.
The staff were always very courteous, friendly, and helpful. Meals were self service, lovely food, carvery every day. All running like clockwork. There was nothing we didn't like
- Karen (4/5): Didn’t like you have to pay extra for parking banking of doors breakfast was cold - Notting Needs painting in places
- Jill (8/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Keith (10/5): Fantastic break - I had a large double room and the buffet breakfast was excellent
- Andrea (9/5): -
- Robert (9/5): Great last minute weekend away in great and safe location - Great staff. Great location. A very good 3*
Breakfast good. A bit tired in places. Our balcony could have done with a good clean. Beds too soft for us but that’s just choice.
- Sarah (8/5): - The room was lovely and clean, the bathroom was spotless. The bed was comfy and the room was really quiet.
The internet access was awful in our room but improved in the main area of the hotel.
We felt the food options were very limited. The roast carvery needed a better variety of vegetables in my opinion. Breakfast was tasty although basic. Parking in the area is very tricky. The hotel is situated in the perfect place for visiting the local area on foot. We would visit again but eat elsewhere for the evening meal.
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carole (10/5): Parking. - large problem with parking we were fortunate not to have any damage. Two couples we spoke to had wing mirrors
damaged.
- Chris (7/5): Great few days away with family - Great room with teariest. Bed nice and comfortable. Lovely breakfast plenty to choice from. Our room had a wet room, the problem was when we had a shower it would flood the wet room and run under the door into the bedroom. Housekeeping said not to worry as it always happens. Room 2 & 3.
- Lee (8/5): Very good -
- Charles (9/5): Fantastic location, with great staff. - The staff were friendly and helpful, the food basic but good. The room was comfortable. No fridge in the room.
- Philip (6/5): Brilliant location - The location/views - exceptional. This hotel seems to mainly cater for coach parties so choose your time in the dining room carefully. Food choices are limited so we found it best for us to eat out for dinner. The decor is in need of updating. During our stay the staff were all very pleasant. Parking is very limited on site but we had no problem with street parking within 5 minutes or so walk.
- Gail (8/5): Very good - Great location. No on site parking available.
Our room was overlooked by a very large terrace belonging to the room next door, some sort of voile at the window would be helpful
- John (7/5): Good - Breakfast very good. View from lounge is beautiful. Staff helpful. Parking at the hotel is very limited and on street parking was very difficult when I was looking. I had to park in a pay and display several streets away. £ 11.00.
- Mandy (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent hotel with friendly helpful staff. Good base to explore other destinations. Room 22 fantastic view and patio. Very comfortable bed. This is our 2nd visit and are booking again.
- Philip (6/5): - The hotel is generally ok, I've just had 2 nights there and to be honest it was generally clean and tidy, the staff were excellent all round and the entertainment on the night time was reasonably, However the room, (and i had one with a balcony) was so small would would not want to spendca week in it, and the bed was awful. It was like sleeping on a rock. The hotel is what we would call tired and needs quite a bit of money spending on it to get it up to a first class hotel. Still i have a good time there.
- Janet (6/5): Staff make the place so friendly so that made our stay enjoyable - Sea view and its position Needs major refit carpets chairs decor particularly downstairs in lounges and bars.
Feel bit young at heart for the entertainment. That’s not to say others won’t enjoy it.
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (9/5): lovely going back soon - breakfast was excellent drinks were pricy
- Paul (8/5): Convenient - Convenient
- Susan (7/5): Good - We were upgraded to room with balcony lovely view. Fire alarm at 1 in morning couldn't sleep after that
- Lucy (7/5): Good - Close to beaches Nothing
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast were fantastic,as was the hotel Parking
- Gareth (2/5): Very poor -
- Fiona (6/5): Pleasant - View and location Loud music under room and very small balcony
Funky smell coming from bathroom
Not good value for money
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Tina (6/5): - First words of greeting were, 'your card was declined' ... not very tactful! In fact the booking site had a pay at hotel policy so although i used my card, got confirmation of booking, and ref number, i had to actually pay when i got there. The card hadnt been declined at all. My friend and i were told to come through to the office, where we were shown the words 'card declined' on the screen. I was not happy as i knew it wouldnt be, but offered cash instead.. then i was told 'we dont take cash'. So after nearly deciding to go elsewhere, i offered the card again. It went through fine. I was then told that id ' probably put my number in wrong, we all do it'. I was going to argue that the booking wouldnt have been confirmed if id done so, but was so upset by the whole initial impression, that i took my receipt and key and went to room. He did add 'it was nothing personal' but we both thought it was handled unprofessionally and abuptly. Room was clean and comfortable. Nice view. Breakfast was good although, having checked in for a table we then had someone come up to us during our meal to ask our room number again. Check out was easy. No other problems.
- colin (8/5): - Parking facilities are not good
- Andrew (9/5): Great Stay, I felt young! - Sea View room was really good but will be looking for a balcony room next time, certainly worth the paying extra. I know there were coach trips in, so I would be interested to see if the age group is younger on a stay without the coaches,
Couple of other issues but not adding them to the review.
- Cook (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): A 3 star hotel with 5 star staff - had a lovely time - The staff were very welcoming and professional throughout our stay. A busy hotel but no at all overbearing, just lots of happy customers. Our room was a large double with balcony and sea view (which was amazing). A clean room welcomed us. The guest Bar opened at 5PM after a public use bar and Costa Coffee closes a 5;30pm, both areas were lovely. We had one evening meal / carvery which was very good, and breakfast was excellent daily, We had such a nice time, very relaxing.
We did pay £10 a day for parking which is very limited (around 8 places), oterwise it is on street parking a few hundred yards or more away. N/A
