5 minutes away from tube station The host cancelled our first booking (for a 2 nights stay) while we were in the plane, rendering us unreachable. Upon our arrival, it was a shock, as we had to sit in the airport lobby and make a last-minute booking at another hotel. This wasted our valuable time, forced us into an unfavourable hotel, and disrupted our initial holiday plans.
For my second booking with this host, which occurred 8 days later (for a 6 nights stay), proved to be equally troublesome. The host consistently failed to be punctual in delivering the key, making us wait for an exasperating two hours. Additionally, the cleanliness of the room left much to be desired:
The basin was unclean, with 3 dirty sponges carelessly left inside, which was highly unhygienic and disgusting.
The shower area was adorned with stray hairs, and the toilet was in a dirty state, with the toilet basin sharing the same uncleanliness.
The room appeared as though it had not been cleaned at all after the previous guest's departure.
We were so concerned about the cleanliness of the bed that we had no choice but to remove the bed sheet, pillowcase, and duvet cover to wash them on the spot before use. We documented these issues and reported them to the host. He promised to address the problems the next day but never followed through.
The day prior to check-out, our attempts to contact the host about key return and the possibility of a late check-out went unanswered. On the day of check-out, the host still did not answer our calls, leaving us with no choice but to leave the room to avoid the risk of being charged for an additional day. We left the key at the reception counter (the establishment had a 24-hour reception). The host's only response came at 2:15 pm, stating his intention to collect the key. When we informed him that the key had already been left at the reception counter, he voiced his dissatisfaction, insisting that we should have handed it to him directly.
