Guest Reviews
- Tabares (8/5): Very good -
- Brad (3/5): Not worth it - The apartment is close to Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal. Lots to do in the area. It was very clean. One of the beds was very comfortable. There was no AC so you needed to use the fans (that’s a plus, they were provided) and needed windows open to cool down at night. Unfortunately, there are no screens on windows so I was eaten alive by mosquitos. Plus everyone who visits the bar downstairs smokes right outside the windows so it’s loud and smokey with the windows open. One of our family had a couple minutes of hot water our first night but every shower after that for two days was ice cold. The WiFi did not work at all (to be fair, we did not message them for it to be fixed).
- Anurag (1/5): Bad - !!!THE PLACE IS A SCAM!!!
Do not book here!
Most inhumane experience that you can get out of a hotel booking.
- Anonymous (1/5): DO NOT BOOK THIS AWFUL PLACE! - DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE! DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE – Complete Scam and Unsafe!
We had a confirmed reservation at Ca Rialto Apartments from July 23 to 25. When we arrived, we couldn’t even find the entrance — the place is completely hidden with no signage or doorbell indicating the property name. We sat in front of the supposed location for over 20 minutes until someone randomly opened the door.
Inside, there were no clear instructions — just a handwritten note directing us upstairs. When we got there, a man who clearly didn’t know what was going on answered the door. We explained we had a Booking.com reservation and showed him our messages and name. He barely spoke English, kept trying to shut the door on us, and told us to call the number on the reservation — which was unavailable. He called someone else, I heard my name mentioned, and then he just said, “No, no reservation” and slammed the door in our face.
We had no choice but to leave. They never canceled our reservation, and within 10 minutes, I received bank notifications that they were trying to charge me anyway!
This is completely unacceptable and feels like a scam. I urge Booking.com and other travelers to take this seriously. Just check Google reviews — other people are reporting similar shady experiences. For your own safety and peace of mind, do NOT book this place.
- Koval (9/5): Perfect location, 24h check-in (it’s really good and comfortable option). We’re absolutely satisfied! -
- Rodolfo (1/5): Bad - They cancelled my stay a couple of hours before. I have been claiming the refund and they avoid my messages.
Pure Scam ! They cancelled my stay a couple of hours before. I have been claiming the refund and they avoid my messages.
Pure Scam !
- Sophie (1/5): They need to sort themselves out. - We didn’t even step foot on to the property because 1 hour prior to our confirmed check in time I received a text saying that we are actually unable to stay at the apartment due to a 2 month ongoing plumbing issue. Not only was this extremely inconvenient and inconsiderate to tell us the day of if they knew about the issue for 2 months but they haven’t cancelled our pre payed booking so I am still charged for the booking which they have quite frankly been terrible at refunding me for and I still haven’t received any refund receipt of confirmation.
- Adrian (1/5): PATHETIC AND APPALLING MANAGEMENT - Absolutely nothing. This property will seriously have a negative impact upon Booking.com's credibility as a booking agent if you persist with it Everything. HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE !! No staff to meet us, rang doorbell, phoned several times but no answer. After an hour or so I finally spoke to someone who called himself Hugo (fictional) and gave a lame excuse there was a water leak and we were to move to another hotel, in fact where we had just come from at the other side of the city. Promised us reimbursement of taxi boat fare of €50 but that didn't happen. Moving did us a favour though. Will never ever book Ca Rialto again and would advise any Booking.com patrons not to do so either.
- Aurimas (1/5): Scammers! - SCAM! Avoid it. 20 minutes before arrival we received a message that there was a water leak in the apartment. They suggested we find a new place to stay. We were lucky that we managed to find a place to live. However, it took a lot of nerves and energy.
- Eliana (3/5): Poor - Not the apartment we booked!!! As many other reviews have mentioned, they notified us on the day of our booking that there was a “water leak” at the apartment we booked and that they made a reservation for us at a 3-star hotel near the train station. However, it turned out to be only a 2-star hotel, and it was really inconvenient to have a different location when we paid to be closer to the city center. As it appears they have been doing this with everyone for the last few weeks (all recent reviews mention this), I think it is a scam.
- Stella (7/5): Good - As others have mentioned, we were moved on a different hotel near St Lucia station, hotel Airone, after communicating with the hotel contact. My review is for the hotel Airone since we didnt stay in "Ca Rialto". Hotel Airone had clean rooms, the aesthetic was also cute and vintage, good wifi, helpful stuff and satisfactory breakfast (included for us even though it wasnt in our original booking). Very convenient location for us, super close to the station, since we needed to relax after our trip. They also kept our luggage for us after check out without a charge. Note, if you need them better contact directly in whatsapp. We had no warm water for the night we stayed, we saw no control for the tv/air condition but to be honest we didnt need them. The room had a good temperature when we stayed. The difference on the location can be very stressful as seen by other reviews but luckily we had a good communication with the host and we didnt struggle finding a solution.
- Brigitta (1/5): Bad -
- Svarccc (8/5): Very good -
- Ilvi (1/5): Do not Book here, it is a SCAM - Nothing, it is a SCAM I had a reservation for July 5th, but the host contacted me only on the same day, saying there was a water leak and I would be moved to another hotel. No address or clear information was provided, and despite waiting at the property from 11:00 AM for over two hours, no one ever showed up to help or check me in.
I had also tried contacting the host multiple times during June, asking about early check-in, and received no response at all.
The host said I could cancel for free, but in the end, they charged me and marked me as a no-show — even though I was there and they were the ones who failed to deliver the service.
Very poor communication, unreliable experience, and clearly a recurring issue as I later saw similar reviews from other guests. I do not recommend this place — it caused me stress, wasted time, and extra costs during my trip to Venice.
- Caroline (1/5): AVOID!!!! - We received a message on the morning of our stay to say there were sanitary issues and we could not stay there and they were arranging alternative accommodation.
When we got to the alternative accommodation (Hotel Airone) it was only 2* not 3*, and was awful. Door in from street had entry code but could have been opened with a firm push. All the power points were hanging out of the wall and did not look safe. The air conditioning unit leaked water all over the floor.
Had a sleepless night due to bed bugs that mean I am covered in bites today including not being able to open one eye.
I see from recent reviews this has happened before so I doubt I will hear back from the owner who I complained to. AVOID.
- Zirui (1/5): Don’t believe the host, just a liar. - Nothing The host gave us a “better” place due to the water leakage. We originally booked a room with private bathroom but the new room only has shared bathroom. It was extremely warm without ac (like an oven) and there are bugs on the bed. This is really a bad experience. Just imagine how rubbish the apartment is if the new one is the “better” room.
- Kelaj (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (1/5): The property holder didn't show up. Forced to search for another placce!! - The host did not show up to check in. I was forced to to find another accommodation elsewhere. It seems the apartment was overbooked. So do not rely that you will be accommodate here when you go on vacation.
- Marcelle (1/5): This is a SCAM. DO NOT BOOK - DO NOT BOOK HERE - it is a complete scam!!!! Booked here and was told there was a leak with the hotel and was moved somewhere else. As a single traveller I felt completely unsafe and when you look at the other reviews, it's exactly the same. The hotel I was moved to was even worse! Not even worth a one star rating!!! Will be reporting to Booking.com! Nothing! It's a scam!
- Swastee (8/5): Comfortable stay for a few days - It is a 3 min walk from Rialto which is quite possibly the best part if you are on time crunch. Big spacious room, high ceilings, bed is also good. And it's close to good food joints. I liked it's kind of quiet and generally comfortable. It's a good stay for a few days, anything over 3 days I'd be hesitant to recommend. The accomodation does not have an equipped kitchen, but there is a fridge. So, keep that in mind. The check in process is not that of a hotel, so be sure to inform them as soon as you reach Venice. Make sure to call them as the person takes 10-15 mins to arrive.
- Anastasia (2/5): Very poor - Property wasn’t available due to a water leakage so we were sent to a hotel near the trains station. Not ideal being moved and we can see this has happened before.
- Rene (1/5): This location is a scam. - Nothing The property owner was not available. When we went to check in there was no one at the address of this apartment. When we inquired about checking in the property owner was very difficult to reach. They did not respond to messages from booking or calls to their phone number. I was able to reach them via WhatsApp. The property owner made a last minute reservation to a different location under my name in booking.com. That location did not have the same amenities or check in time as the one I booked. The check in time was later however the original property owner told me it was okay to check in early. When we got to the new location they have a strict check in policy so we were not cleared to check in early.
- Charlene (8/5): Very good -
- Fabienne (1/5): Bad - Nothing It is a scam
- Dinara (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (1/5): 1/5 - Never stayed! Illegally denied check-in within confirmed 14:00-23:00 window - 1/5 - Never actually stayed due to being illegally denied check-in despite arriving within the confirmed 14:00-23:00 window. Fraudulent behavior to mark this as a completed booking. Warning to all travelers: this property scams guests with false policies.
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Yen (1/5): I would like to get the refund as he break the commitment/agreement when letting me be Lost in Venice without hostin - He did not host me well, not Meet on check in date, Transfer me to another location with his personal reason that he is not available on check in time. I think that he is fake.
- Martina (8/5): Very good -
- Jarryd (1/5): AVOID AT ALL COSTS - Approx. 20mins before our scheduled check-in we were advised that there was an issue with the room and they have booked us another place nearby. At scheduled check-in time we had no further information. They sent us to two other properties - the first there was no one to let us in (as the Ca Rialto owner had just booked it themselves through booking.com), and the second we had to wait for our room to become available and then be cleaned (again due to Ca Rialto owner arranging this at the last minute). Ca Rialto owner was rude over the phone during this process. We rechecked Booking.com and Ca Rialto had a room available to be booked that night at a much higher price. We suspect there was no issue with the room and the owner just wanted a better price for it. Reading further into the reviews we see this seems to happen a lot with this property. Don’t waste your time !!!
- Marina (1/5): This place is a SCAM - ⚠️DON'T BOOK HERE⚠️
This place is a scam!!!
The day before my friend and I were supposed to stay here we contacted them asking if we could leave our backpacks there before check in time. They replied that that wasn't possible in Ca Rialto, but it was in their other hotel next to the train station, Hotel Canal. So I told them we would leave our bags there for a few hours and we would do the check in at Ca Rialto later. But when we arrived at Ca Rialto (30 minutes walking from Hotel Canal) to do so, they told us that they thought we had already done the check in at Hotel Canal and tha twe were gonna stay there for the 3 nights we had booked. We couldn't understand why they believed that, since be booked Ca Rialto through booking not Hotel Canal. After 40 minutes of waiting outside they told us that we couldn't stay that night at Ca Rialto and they made a booking in my name at another hotel nearby. We were shocked that this could even be allowed. When we googled that hotel, pictures of bed bugs and bad reviews came up, that wasn't what we had booked. We were even more surprised when we saw that the same room we had booked was available on Booking at a higher price.
After spending one night in that other hotel they assured us that this time check in at Ca Rialto would go smoothly. But even though we told them several times our preferred check in time, they made us come a few hours before, even though we had other plans visiting the city. When we got there it turned out that the place didn't have air conditioning as the ad said, so it was 30°C in the room and nothing to do about it. The "private bathroom" wasn't so private since it was outside the room and all the guests had access to it. In addition, the wc leaked every time it was flushed so the floor was always flooded. And the wifi didn't reach the room, so we couldn't use it.
- Joseph (7/5): Place i booked had an issue with the room so they’d booked me into an hotel which was fine - Great Location Communication
- Anonymous (1/5): Bad -
- Catharine (9/5): I really liked the simplicity, cleanliness and location right near the Rialto bridge. - Good pillows, clean sheets, comfortable mattress. All very clean with no frills, just what I was looking for. You need to call the host when you arrive in front of the building to get the keys. Someone comes in a few minutes. The inconvenience is that if you don't have wifi, it's hard to call when in front of the building.
- Lidia (10/5): After we got there, our stay was great. Amazing and helpful staff, clean bedrooms, great location and very good value fo - Super clean, very friendly staff We got confused about the location of the property. We used the one on booking.com but that wasn’t correct. We had to go back and forth on WhatsApp which took almost an hour.
- Daniel (2/5): Avoid avoid avoid. - The location is excellent. Absolutely appalling communication. Myself and another guest were waiting outside calling, texting and messaging on the app for two and a half hours before anyone arrived to let us in. To the point I thought it was a scam and I was going to book another hotel and do a recharge on my credit card.
The "apartment" was not that at all - it's just a room and there's shared bathrooms.
No air con, just a fan.
- Guy (9/5): Superb - Spacious suite very central to Rialto Bridge and city centre. A little difficult to locate, google maps is not very accurate in the city centre depending on your provider, however some signage indicating the premises would be helpful. Three flights of stairs to access so bear that in mind. Otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our stay
- Davies (8/5): Very good - Very close to the Rialto bridge, room was clean and exactly what you needed Only 1 pillow and situated next to a loud bar
- Giedre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Angela (5/5): Not worth the price - Nice Bangladesh guy and room Bathroom was not fully clean and kitchen had nothing to cook with. No plates or even water kettle for coffee. I regret booking this place.
- Fiona (7/5): Lovely large clean apartment in a great location. - Clean with a great location. No wine opener, shower curtain and the fridge didn’t work. WiFi was poor too.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- María (10/5): Exceptional -
