Guest Reviews
- Terri (8/5): Overall I would highly recommend this property for its beauty and peacefulness. - Beautiful and quiet property, close to downtown Jaco without being too close. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfortable. Front desk staff were very nice and accommodating. Resort pets were an added plus for our family. Breakfast was good. Hot tub water was not hot. Restaurant and bar were closed at night. Showers were either hot or cold and alternated frequently while showering. Breakfast staff did not interact with guests.

- John (8/5): Very good -
- Erick (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (9/5): Highly recommend this jungle get away. - It was really nice staying back in the jungle and away from the downtown. The room was huge. They also take care of a bunch of cats here on the property, which I loved! They were so friendly and would follow us around and hang out. I got so many cat snuggles! The staff here was super friendly and welcoming. They work very hard to maintain the grounds, which are beautiful. We were here on both weekdays and the weekend. The weekdays weren’t very crowded so they made our breakfast fresh for us, which was delicious. On the weekend they had it buffet style. There wasn’t a whole lot to choose from, but everything tasted very fresh. I would definitely recommend staying here. The lights in the room were very dim. Personally, I prefer a little more brightness in a room.
Because the hotel is set back in the jungle, you have to deal with jungle things. That includes plant matter falling on your roof throughout the day and night. After living in Hawaii, we know that this is typical. For people who are not used to it, it could be disruptive. If you have PTSD or this could be a trigger, you may want to talk to them ahead of time and make sure you are in a room that does not have a roof under trees.
- Manuel (8/5): Very good -
- Caro (10/5): Exceptional -
- Everton (9/5): Perfect scape from the city, private and in the nature - In the middle of the vegetation, beautiful! Huge room, nice pool area. Breakfast was very basic, few options (rice, beans, eggs, tortillas, bread, fruits, juice, eggs)
- Marion (9/5): Superb -
- Ladybeetle (8/5): Very good - We enjoyed the pool and our moonlit swim. It is a gated compound with very lush grounds. The grounds were a little overgrown and could use more pruning. Pathways had plants hanging into them.
- Puja (5/5): Passable - The staff were friendly It is a really old property which looks really run down. It's almost like it used to be a 4 star hotel but now would hardly be 3 star
- Amanda (7/5): Good - Clean and lovely setting. Restaurant was a bit dark and less welcoming
- Moti (8/5): Very good - great pool, very big and comfortable rooms, location in the heart of the jungle , staff was nice and helpful the poorest breakfast I have ever had, large noises of falling things from the trees to the rooms roofs during all day and night. we have changed our room but still the problem stayed.
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the large rooms and the gorgeous grounds. The swimming pool was clean and relaxing. We had a wonderful 2 nights here.
- Cassandra (9/5): Surrounded by natural beauty away from the busy beach - Such a lovely property with gorgeous landscapes. I loved the view from my room and walking through the grounds. There are multiple buildings with different types of accommodations. Mine was very basic, with a large bedroom and bathroom. Although it was not necessarily an easy walk to the beach, Jaco Beach and the major tourist area was not too far from the hotel. I was also able to drive to multiple other beautiful beaches in the area from this location. Breakfast was minimal, but filling, and the pool was a good size. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and provided suggestions of ways to make my stay even better by doing excursions in the area. I really enjoyed my stay, even though the accommodations were a bit older than some of the others in the area. My only other disappointment was that the jacuzzi was not hot water, but the pool area was a great respite.
- Karen (8/5): Great location, loads of wildlife good value. - Great to relax by the lovely pool, beds were very good and nice big clean rooms. No evening restaurant or bar whilst we were there though so had to go into town in the evening to eat.
- Derek (8/5): Very good -
- Mara (9/5): Lovely stay - The landscape was beautiful! The pool is big and clean. Feels far from Jaco but it's very convenient and only a few minute easy drive. The yoga studio was a nice surprise. We had a great stay.
- Michael (10/5): A brilliant 4 star wildlife experience! - Check in and check out by Jordan was excellent
The hotel backs onto the jungle and, as a result, it was possible to see a whole host of animals and birds whilst sitting by the pool! There is room for improvement with the quality of the breakfast.
- Karla (9/5): Superb - The pool, room. not the property , but the hotel food wasnt that good.
- Marc (10/5): I highly recommend staying here. Beautiful grounds and great meals!! - Great location in the jungle but close to town. Well kept grounds and fantastic breakfast!!
- Jennifer (10/5): Great stay - Brilliant pool, incredible grounds, feels like you're really in the jungle. Saw macaws flying over the pool several times which was magic.
Room was nice and very large. Loved the sack bats that stayed in the verandah roof, so cute (outside, not in the room but could see them from the window).
Choice between continental and Tipico breakfast - really delicious.
Friendly staff. Bugs in the room but you're in the jungle so it's normal and should be expected.
- Scholz (8/5): Very good - The restaurant and bar and pool. The location is great We were last year, we enjoyed the restaurant and bar, and the pool. The grounds are beautiful. The monkeys visited and Toucans. But this year the bar was closed for one of our nights. So that was disappointing for us. But other then that it is a very nice hotel

- Larry (10/5): Doce Lunas is a hidden gem, a real retreat. - This hotel is tucked away in a lush tropical setting that makes it easy to forget the outside world. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well appointed. The pool is huge and has lots of poolside seating in lounges or at tables. The staff is exceptional in their friendliness and service. We have stayed in 10 different places in our 30-day vacation in Costa Rica, some fancier and some plainer, and Doce Lunas has been the most enjoyable. I wish it could have been on the beach, but then it wouldn’t be in a tropical garden.
- Chanttel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lukasz (10/5): Exceptional - Great big pool. Silent place. Breakfast is rather Basic at this standard
- Linda (10/5): Beautiful grounds, comfy bed, great pool, good meals, lots of wildlife, and enjoyable walks to beach - Delicious breakfasts with rice and beans my favorite and tasty fresh fruit California Yoga group were loud in the evenings but did not continue too late to disturb sleep
- Jose (9/5): Superb -
- Sandra (10/5): Book It! - Being a little out of downtown was not a problem as Uber is under $3. The gorgeous grounds & pool were a welcome haven after being in the busy tourist strip.
The open-air restaurant was delicious and very reasonable. Staff friendly & helpful. Big room with hugh bathroom. The double sink had plenty of space for electronics and cosmetics. The hugh bathtub needs 2 grab bars.
- Nigel (9/5): Wonderful - Wonderfull staff and pool.
- Joann (8/5): Very good -
- Philippe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yves (9/5): Superb - Excellent
Swimming pool top Rooms 11-12 under a Big waterapple tree—> a safety net should be install because dangerous fall on the sidewalk and top of the rooms
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful grounds, pool, etc. Room was huge
- Aartimoore (9/5): We enjoyed our stay and recoomend - Our room was very spacious and comfortable - with a patio outside, an office like desk in a side-niche, a large bathroom - all very clean. Air-conditioning was excellent. Facilities were nice (although we did not use most of them).
Breakfast was very good with a nice selection of foods. The hotel is a few km outside of town - this was fine for us because we had a car. Not much was happening around the area.
- Sven (8/5): Good value for money and location - Good location to visit the western side of Costa Rica. Spacious rooms Bathroom could be slightly cleaner and whole breakfast was tasteful, it was every day very similar and rather limited in choices.
- James (10/5): Marvelous place, great value, wonderful people! - Breakfast was fine Would have been nice to have coffee available in early morning instead of expresso.
- Johannes (9/5): Superb -
- Shallop (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable, great rotation There’s really nothing to find all around great
- Td (9/5): Lovely stay - Was only here for a day while passing through but could've stayed here for a couple of days more:) Grounds were beautiful. Pool was very nice. Overall accommodations were great. It was quiet with only the sounds of bugs and birds. Would definitely return. Nothing
- Larry (9/5): Superb - Beautiful grounds and pool. Room was very spacious and comfortable.
- Mary (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - We had a very large room with a nice view of the beautiful pool art and jungle and the bathroom had a tub and double sinks, much less common for hotels in CR. The AC worked well. The property is deep and sits you well away from the noise of Jaco or the highway and it feels like you are in a jungle lodge. The included breakfast was tasty and the staff we encountered were very friendly. The beds were quite a bit firmer than typical hotel beds but we still slept well.
There were not many channels (7 on ours) on the TV and it was not easy to use. No option to change to English audio either. But there are lots of other things to do in Costa Rica other than watch TV!.
- Sajid (9/5): Comfortable hotel at a great value - Quiet property set amidst a beautiful tropical preserve. Far from the crowds of JACO, but close enough for a drive.
- Anna (5/5): There could Be better options - * beautiful garden * Hot water not working
* forgot to change towels the second day
* breakfast on Jan 1st open till 9am - too early
* the room was unbearably humid
* outside the city center
- Kate (10/5): Fantastic! - I loved this place, it is gorgeous! The staff are wonderful, the food is delicious and the rooms are great, super clean.
Lovely pool and gorgeous garden. Daniela and Frank took amazing care of us in the restaurant.
- Diego (6/5): Pleasant - Good space The location, the lack of maintenance and remodeling
Poor restaurant and food quality
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Np (8/5): A lovely hotel, a relatively short walk from Jáco, with great helpful staff - I loved the pool, and the tranquil gardens.
It was also down a quiet residential street. The property was perfect. The only thing that would have been a bit better was if the mattresses were a bit softer.
- Albert (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (9/5): Amazing grounds, lovely breakfast, and friendly staff. - Amazing grounds and outstanding breakfast. The staff went above and beyond when we left an item in the hotel. It is a little far from Jaco (30 min walk to town center) if that is your destination. On the other hand this means that it is quiet.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Inese (10/5): Beautiful place - Beautiful gardens. Very relaxing area. Quiet. Excellent food. N/a
- Carrie (9/5): Amazing location, helpful & friendly staff, clean, safe, and affordable. - Beautiful location, amazingly helpful staff. Very fast and reliable WiFi. A/C was solid. Close to the city and restaurants, yet tucked away and secluded. The on-site cats & dog were an amazing plus as we love animals. Restaurant offered good food at reasonable prices. Our shower head kept falling off. Overall, kind of funny, but yeah. While the restaurant had good food at good prices, the hours of operation were all over the place. Breakfast often started late, and most nights we stayed, the restaurant closed early. Plenty of other options nearby, yet it was a challenge to know if they'd be open or not.
- Anita (2/5): Never again ! - Desayuno terrible -es una broma ( jogurt con fruta)
- Ety (4/5): No value for money 😔! Outside the main beach area in street across the road. - Helpful person in the front desk. AC very very noisy, very poor breakfast. We got a room with awful smell that we couldn’t stay in - we asked for replacement and moved to another room.
- Migel (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great 👍
- Karynco (9/5): Very pleasant. Would recommend - HUGE, gorgeous property. Our room was very private We rented a suite. It was pleasant, but not as modern, high end as the picture we bought into when booking.
- Rachel (5/5): Passable - Safe location and nice staff. We arrived 30 min before reception closed after driving all day and felt safe getting there in the dark.
Room was okay- heavy cleaning chemical smell and ants in the bathroom. Shower did not work properly and tub filled with inches of water.
Outdoor breakfast area was lovely. Did not get to use the pool but it was big and clean. Room was okay- heavy cleaning chemical smell and ants in the bathroom. Shower did not work properly and tub filled with inches of water.
- Claire (7/5): Good for a night’s stay after or before SJO. Very nice staff - The pool is great. Staff really friendly. Nice gardens Rooms smell like very strong cleaning products and the light bulbs are fluorescente white and too bright. The decor and furnishings need updating.
- Alexandra (9/5): Superb -
- Gregory (4/5): Not good, would not go back!! - Larger room, but of course we had to pay more for the 3 large rooms. Not at all accommodating to a late check out request, even though we only wanted 1 of the 3 rooms we paid for to be a late check out room!
Hot tube was not heated.
Staff was not very attentive.
- Gregory (4/5): Disappointing - Close to town, large room (but more expensive so it should be larger). Issues with the hot water. Staff not willing to work with us for a late check out. Hot tub not heated. Only able to use room WiFi in the room. Arrived about 20 min. before the hotel restaurant was scheduled to close. We had been driving most of the day with kids so we were very tired and just wanted a quick meal. The restaurant said the would not allow us in since they were closing in 20 min! Missed breakfast the 1st morning because we were off to an outing. The second morning we tried breakfast at the hotel, not much of an offering. The staff at the breakfast were very unfriendly. When we walked in (about 5 min. before the opening time) the man setting things up said we would have to come back in 5 min. We said we just wanted a cup of coffee. He begrudgingly agreed to let us get coffee.
- Nicolas (9/5): Superb -
- Prashant (5/5): Decent stay - The size of the room was decent. The property is surrounded by greens. We did not have breakfast since we had early morning tours. The room needs to be upgraded and a proper restaurant or bar is required. The swimming pool also needs an uplift.
- Kyle (7/5): Lush with Foliage & Nature.. - Nature setting was great, and big breakfast on the house, Pool is huge, colored lights, good atmosphere. The dogs, I believe on a different property, but able to get some sleep in the late hours...
- Allan (9/5): Superb -
- Laurel (10/5): A lovely and quiet location in Jaco - The pool was lovely and the grounds were well maintained. We saw monkeys playing in the trees when we checked in. It’s an older property so the rooms are a bit dated but still comfortable and clean.
- Rohith (8/5): Very good -
- Colleen (10/5): Staff was wonderful… going that extra yard - Great location with an abundance of wildlife - nice mix of city and rain forest Perfection!
- Colleen (10/5): Best experience ever / staff was so helpful in recommending activities and places to eat - grounds were beautiful an - Awesome location- staff very attentive- beautiful pool and lots of animals- super close to town and activities… can’t wait to return💕 Not one thing - so much more then we expected 💕
- Katarzyna (10/5): Unexpected nature Paradise - Beautiful garden, it smell like flowers everywhere, quite beautiful, monkeys and birds. Grate for nature lovers. Away from city we love quiet but you need car if you would like to go to restaurant or beach. Room has beautiful wooden furnitures. Bed was very firm. WiFi not available ( they said it was network issue). So maybe it was just our night problem.
- Jane (9/5): It was great - the amazing garden and animal life could have done with a bedside light
- Isaac (9/5): Superb - Pretty much eerything was great The gallo pinto beens were not cooked completly, coffee was not ready at the time of arrival to the restaurant, but it was not along wait.
- Christina (10/5): It was a great facility, great location, great food! -
- Julian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sergio (9/5): Superb - Value for the money Breakfast can be better, but nevertheless it was good
- Theodore (10/5): The service staff made you feel like you were family. Hotel campus setting was exceptional. - Breakfast was exceptional. Staff's attention to service was excellent. Fresh fruit was perfectly ripe everyday.
- Felix (8/5): It was a nice hotel and we loved the pool. - The Pool was perfect! Nothing
- Florence (4/5): Not a four star hotel - more like a holiday camp. Very disappointing experience - The superior rooms are a good size Requested quiet rooms but got two nearest the pool - this probably wouldn’t have been a problem had the pool not been open till 10pm. The noise right up to that time was ridiculous for those who had a long day and wanted some rest! Children were unruly and noisy.
As for the pool - good size etc but not enough loungers and selfish people ‘reserve’ them all day long whether they need them or not. On our arrival day just wanted a swim and couple hours in sun after long drive but discovered every bed/chair etc had towels etc on them but less than a third actually occupied! On last morning when we were leaving- there were already ‘reserved’ loungers etc and not a person to be seen. Need more options and less selfish guests!
The food was well below par for a hotel of this alleged standard. We had the driest unpalatable burgers of our holiday for dinner and breakfast was bland and boring with people taking copious amounts of food and then wasting it. Tea bags were available but not sure how old they were and having had to request hot water, waited 10 minutes for a kettle to be plonked on the buffet table. The restaurant staff were not skilled in customer service skills generally.
- Bjorn (10/5): Excellent vacation location! - The nature surrounding and the the tranquillity hotel vibes! Big rooms! Nothing
- Dave (9/5): A bit dated; but clean, comfortable with great staff - Staff was fantastic. Restaurant was great.
- Daniela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Szilvia (10/5): DoceLunes is a real gem in Jaco - DoceLunes is a real gem. We booked it for the the first two nights of our vacation and we could not have made a better choice for a start! We landed in San Jose at 20:00 but could easily check in at around 23:00 (night security colleague gave us the keys). It is a bit out of the city center, so you better have your own transportation, but there are also taxis around and they even have bicycles to use. The first positive impression was the smell of the many flowers; which are beautiful in daylight. Staff is extraordinarily helpful. Breakfast was from a choice of some options (not buffet), but it was adequate. Rooms and bathroom really spacy; comfortable, with good aircon (well positioned, not flowing the cold air on you), beds super comfortable, the room even had a small fridge, the toiletries of good quality (with conditioner, but no body lotion). The hotel garden is full of life: monkies (paying in the afternoon) and a lot of birds. The pool is so inviting, super warm and clean. There is a really great beach nearby (Playa Blanca / Punta Leona); one of the best on the south Pacific Coast (if you are not a surfer and would like to enjoy white sand and gentle waves). Easy access to different excursions (Crocodile Bridge, Jaco Street Art Tour) on your own or from the reception, many restaurants and shops in Jaco. Price - value ratio was excellent. I would return here any time! Nothing, everything was perfect.
The rooms' furniture is a little bit oldish, but absolutely OK, the whole place has a magical atmosphere.
- Lauren (8/5): Very good -
- Chad (7/5): Good - Hotel was fine a little older but was in decent shape and cared for. Great pool The property was a downgrade for me due to the food quality at the hotel. Breakfast ate 1 times and never again. Ordered food for room service. Nachos ok, Chicken wrap decent and hamburger wouldn’t touch it; something was off on the taste of the beef. Hire a new chef they are ruining your resort. It’s that bad
- Wayner (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melanie (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): Revoew - Nice pool. Needed more sweeping of the common areas.
- Lisa (9/5): Great stay. I would definitely return and recommend to anyone looking for a jungle stay. - The wildlife and jungle around the property were amazing. The staff were great. The shower was great. The yoga class we attended was fantastic! The restaurant closed with no warning and we didn't have a car. The distance is an issue only if you don't have a car. Otherwise it's great being away from town but there is no walkable backup restaurant.
- Witold (10/5): Great relax, big swimming pool, tasty and filling breakfast and tidy and nice space around - Very comfortable hotel and space. The biggest swimming pool from all the hotels we visited in Costa Rica. Good airconditioning in our rooms. We had a great time with our children there. Everything was perfect :-)
- Ivan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Douglas (9/5): Good hotel, with excellent pool and a tasty breakfast in the morning. - The pool is lovely, and the accomodation is spacious. Breakfast was really good. The restaurant tended to be a bit souless.
- Helja (10/5): Exceptional -
