• João Filipe (6/5): - A nossa anfitriã foi muito prestável e atenciosa. O pequeno almoço foi muito bom. As recomendações e conselhos foram muito úteis. A localização fica numa zona alta de bastimento, a 15 min de Oldbank. A cama era relativamente pequena.

• Lorena (10/5): Genial!! Nos encantó!! - Lo mejor es estar en medio de la selva con la naturaleza, además la propietaria nos ayudó en todo lo posible en toda nuestra estancia allí. La cabaña era increíble súper bonita y con vistas a la selva. Nos ha encantado. Está un poco en cuesta, y hay que subir una colina pero es parte de lo especial de estar en la selva :)
• Nele (7/5): All in all I was happy with my stay - Surroundings, jungle setting, wildlife, location It is very rustic, there could be a possibility to use a fridge at least somewhere on the grounds, but then again it is quite remote, uphill in the jungle. Maybe a bit pricy for what you get
• Tiago (10/5): - This is your next dream jungle gateway! The location is amazing, not too far from Old Bank in Bastimentos, where you have everything you may need (walking distance), a nice 30 min hike to Wizard beach and you are literally in the jungle in harmony with nature. Old Bank is an experience in itself, an amazing, authentic, and vibrant community. But the highlight is the nature at your doorsteps! Slowly waking up to the sound of the jungle and then having an amazing breakfast freshly prepared by your host, Jen. Jen is also one of the reasons why we liked our stay so much. She would help and guide you before and during your stay, she is simply amazing! Really feels like she is welcoming you into her house in the jungle. On our way to Almirante our car had a flat tire and we missed the last boat. Jen was so kind and flexible to pospone our stay to one day later (no extra costs). Thanks Jen! The bungalows are cosy, simple and in harmony with the amazing environment where you are staying! We spent most of our time in the hammocks at the balcony, just contemplating nature. Don't expect luxury, expect an experience where you immerse yourself in the jungle but with modern amenities like good WiFi connection and great food and coffee in the morning overlooking the jungle and the sea. Would recommend it 100%! Nothing really. We had an amazing time. Again, don't expect luxury, you are in the jungle. Just embrace it!

• bruno (8/5): - Pure Roots est situé sur les hauteurs de l’île. Accueil très sympathique de Jen qui nous a aussi bien conseillé pendant notre séjour. Les bungalows sont situés en pleine nature avec vue sur mer. On peut entendre et voir des animaux comme ce paresseux observé sur une liane le jour de notre départ. Les petits déjeuners sont bons et variés.
• Sashidhar (9/5): Parfait pour un séjour au au calme au cœur de la jungle - Jen est adorable, a toujours été disponible pour répondre à nos questions, nous aider et organiser des excursions. La nourriture était très bonne, avec beaucoup d'options végétariennes. On n'a pas eu de chance avec la météo mais on a malgré tout adoré notre séjour! Il fait sombre dans la chambre et il n'y avait qu'un seul hamac en dehors de notre bungalow spécifiquement (d'autres en ont deux) ce qui ne nous permettait pas de profiter de la vue tous les deux confortablement.
• Carlien (9/5): Heerlijke plek om tot rust te komen - De locatie heeft echt een prachtige ligging. Tussen bomen, aan de rand van de jungle. Een mooie lodge. Heerlijk rustige omgeving, gezellig plekje om te ontbijten. En een warm onthaal.
• Roland (9/5): Perdu dans la forêt avec vue sur la mer... - A quelques centaines de mètres du village mais une sensation d'isolement total. Accueil très chaleureux, on se sent à la maison. Nous avons apprécié l'éloignement mais le chemin d'accès peut être "difficile" pour certains... Comme son nom l'indique, c'est un peu roots.
• Suzanna (7/5): Good life experience immersed in the jungle, pretty rooms - For me this stay was more of a life experience than a comfortable stay. It took me a while to get used to the room being so open air (intentional big holes in the walls), (it is in the jungle so expect critters but the fan provided does work in keeping bugs out of the room to my relief haha!). That being said it was an unforgettable experience in a beautiful place with lots of wildlife in the area ie red frogs, birds, capuchin monkeys, we also saw a possum. The room itself was well decorated, beautiful furniture and finishes. The host and other staff were very welcoming and friendly and we also fell in love with the hosts dog who was absolutely adorable. Breakfast was also very good and the breakfast room is lovely with a nice view through the trees. The guesthouses’ water comes from collected rainwater. There is a sign in the bathroom advising that if it doesn’t rain there will be no water. One night water did run out even after us only taking quick showers and it having rained quite a bit during the past 3 days. The host did move us to another room which had water the following morning. Perhaps the water collection system needs some development? The mosquito net around the bed wouldn’t pull closed around the bed and I had to peg it closed with my hair clips. With the room being open air a good mosquito net is needed. A communal area that’s open throughout the day would be a nice addition. Our room only had one comfortable seat on the balcony and the other was a hard stool, would have been nice to have two hammocks for us both to spend time on the balcony.

• Fabio (10/5): Einzigartige Unterkunft mitten in der Natur Bastimentos’ - Die Unterkunft liegt mitten in der Natur und mit einem direkten Blick auf das karibische Meer. Es ist perfekt zum zur Ruhe kommen und einfach, um die Natur zu genießen. Die Hütte war wunderbar und auch mit Insektenschutz, Ventilator und es gibt sogar Warmwasser. Die Gastgeberin ist super bemüht und macht einen tollen Job. Ihr Frühstück ist abwechslungsreich und richtig lecker! Nachts lief an manchen Tagen ein Generator in der Nähe, der alle 50 Sekunden ein Rattern abgegeben hat. Das hat etwas die Atmosphäre gestört (leicht). Kein Mängel, nur eine Info: Der Weg zur Unterkunft ist eine ca. 15 minütige Wanderung bergauf, die ein gewisses Maß an körperlicher Fitness erfordert. Auch um zum Strand oder Restaurants zu kommen, müsst ihr jedes Mal wieder runter und hoch. Dafür eben der klarer Vorteil, so abgelegen ruhig zu sein.

• Karine (10/5): - L'accueil de Jen était formidable: bons conseils, belles discussions et le cours de yoga dans la jungle était parfait. Le petit déjeuner était différent et délicieux tous les matins. Le lieu est sauvage, isolé mais en marchant un peu on découvre les plages merveilleuses de Basti!

• Ellen (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful time at this place. You are surrounded by jungle. The huts are very cozy and they have everything you need. Jen is the host of this accommodation and she lovingly takes care of her guests. There is a delicious breakfast and she helps you organize any activities you want to do. We will remember this accommodation for a long time.
• Francis (9/5): A cool place to stay in Bocas Del Toro - Great breakfast, informed and interesting host, characterful room and, most of all, the hilltop location catches the breeze so that nights are bearable without using the fan. My special diet was catered for and I found the ambience of the place the best I experienced in fifty two days of travelling through Latin America and Scotland. Only quibble would be cash preferred to credit card but I had come out to the island prepared for that so no issue really.
• Nicole (8/5): Pure roots is a prestine and lovely place in the jungle - The surroundings, the jungle vibe. Good breakfast with local ingredients. Red frogs in front of your door. There is no place other than your accomodation to hang out. Would be nice to sit on the deck where you have breakfast in the evening for a drink.
• Grace (10/5): Beautiful natural space. - Pure Roots is a magical place! You are in the jungle and see all kinds of birds and wildlife, but you still have all of your comforts, like a nice bed, a beautiful relaxing space with a deck and hammock, a clean bathroom and hot shower. Jen cooks amazing dishes and always has the coffee on when you arrive for breakfast. She accommodates your dietary needs and the food includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. You can even watch her machete a fresh coconut for you to drink from, to get an electrolyte boost! I stayed for 5 nights. Pure Roots is located up a hill so it is a good 15 minute walk from when you get off the boat on Bastimentos island. Lots of steps, gravel path, potential mud. Make sure you can walk easily and steadily.

• Fathma (9/5): Welcome to the Jungle, chill and share the good vibe - Jen is an amazing host. The place is far up a hill and the jungle is the jungle. You can't fight the weather but believe me that the place worth it. With Jen and her dog you will feel at home and in balance with nature. Chill music, hot shower, good vibes, great deco, good food & a place to do some yoga. Great place to connect with nature & relax, good walks and wine. Weather was not amazing bring raincoats and boots!
