Guest Reviews
- Mads (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful place with lovely staff - Located in a ceramic shop square, the hotel was the perfect place to stay during our long weekend of exploring Arita. The room was simple but had everything we needed and every morning started with a delicious breakfast and the staff did everything they could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Sometimes it was a little difficult communicating in English, but Google translate always came to the rescue :)
- Oksana (10/5): - It was excellent stay. The personal is very nice and giving great service. The 2 floor room was nice, the breakfast was outstanding!
- Susannah (10/5): - Lovely and comfortable and clean. Staff were so nice. On beautiful porcelain shop street away from the town centre.
- Angelos (1/5): don’t waste your money - - completely unprofessional. tried to contact them weeks prior to the booking, with frequent reminders, and to this day no reply via the online platform. I was left helpless and without any assistance to my issue after all.
- Wisteria (10/5): -
- Micki (10/5): - The breakfast is off the charts. They are so accommodating and warm and friendly. Loved our time here. Loved the friendly kind staff
- Jun (8/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): - Absolutely one of my favorite stays in Japan. Wow! Beautiful, comfy, high-end minimal design space that made me feel so good. That little loft bed, fantastic! And make sure to get the full meal plan with breakfast and dinner. The best I ever had. And the service was so great. A really friendly receptionist who was also the waiter - made my stay so comfortable. And hats off to the great chef - yummy good!
- liudmila (10/5): Magnifique !
- Bee (10/5): Super love the place. - Very quaint, minimalistic, quiet, calm and peaceful. Nothing really. Location - a bit off from everywhere but that’s where you get the peace, quiet and calm.
- Gabriel (8/5): Top marks on amenities and breakfast, but loosing points in other areas - The hotel (at the back of the restaurant) is very stylish and modern, with amazing amenities inside the room (I've never had a hotel put out delicate porcelain cups and glasses for guests to use). The aircon was really great, as the room(s) get quite hot. The breakfast was definitely the best I had on my whole trip through Japan - by far. I wish I new before booking just how far away the hotel is from 'civilisation' (definitely not a town to visit without renting a car). The options for lunch within close walking distance is very few, and for dinner, you're even more stuck if you're not willing to walk 20+ minutes to the closest restaurant. Definitely a town I wish I planned to rent a car, and could drive around easier to more places, but that was my own fault. For people without cars, the location is not ideal. I also expected the hotel to have a coin-operated laundry for guests to use, so please note that there is none. There is also no vending machine for those late-night drinks you might crave, but there is one just up the road from the hotel.
- Claire (10/5): Super comfortable bed, clean room and kind staff! - The bed was so comfortable!! By far the best sleep I've had!! People are correct the wifi signal isn't great in the loft but it's not the worse. The design of the loft room is so beautiful and very comfortable. The location is nice surrounded with beautiful pottery stores and a yum bakery! But if your walking it can be quite challenging as it's 35 minutes walk uphill which can be tough with luggage. Overall loved my stay th staff were very nice too!!
- Katherin (9/5): The dinner was amazing and the stay was just right for us! - The hotel was clean and the staffs are very friendly and polite. The loft room was just nice for us. We love the space and amenities that come with the room. The heater serve us well after long day out in the cold. The location was 25 minutes walk from Arita station and taxi ride is about 1000 yen.
- Annie (7/5): A nice experience but probably wouldn't stay here again - I liked being near all the ceramic stores. The staff and breakfast were excellent! I really like the design of the space Required either a 30 min walk from the main part of Arita or a 5min taxi ride since there are no bus routes.
The downstairs part of the room is small and cold. Upstairs was too warm and the WiFi wouldn't work.
- Patrick (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Teresa (8/5): Nice and a quiet place to stay - They used the very nice coffee maker, coffee, and tea cups, and the facilties were very clean. If you like shopping for ceramics, this is a perfect location. On the same street, there is a lot of shop for sale porcelain. If they provide standard chair instead of wooden stools, there will be more comfort for those people who have back problem. Also, the other problem is no wifi reception on the second level ( my room has two levels).
Until it's to the dinner time and I find out they don't provide dinner except you reserve it ahead of time, and the nearest supermarket has to walk 20mins, there is no Restaurant will open for dinner time close by. I recommend people should rent a car to stay at this hotel.
- Keiko (10/5): Excellent - Modern & clean
- Ailsa (10/5): Exceptional - Situated in the pottery precinct
Dinner was great especially the risotto, but let them know in advance if you can’t eat shellfish or squid
- Fabian (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The rooms were excellent and clean and the hotel's overall aesthetic was just fabulous.
- Amrit (9/5): Compact style hotel with quite location and well design. - This place is quite and compact Japanese style. I booked two types of room ie. compact double bed room and maisonette comapct double bed room. It is located beside the porcelain shop and far from the resturant. I recomended to have the breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast is set menu with few item.
- Cascada194 (10/5): Exceptional - Everything looks great, exceptional service by the hotel staff and the room was awesome. Be prepared to eat at the hotel for dinner or travel outside of Arita especially if it is late at night
- Samantha (10/5): very nice place to stay! - i had a wonderful time at aria huis! the staff were lovely, the room was exactly what i expected from the pictures (very nice), the bed was super comfy, the shampoo and soap smelled really good. summer in arita was extremely hot but i was very happy in my air-conditioned hotel room.
i was travelling alone on a trip focusing on pottery and the hotel was wonderfully placed within two rows of shops, one of which also had a bakery i enjoyed breakfast at. i didn't get to eat at arita huis itself this trip but i look forward to returning and trying their food when i do.
i will say that the location is a bit inconvenient - far from the train station and food options - but there are often cabs around and i suspect other pottery-related things around arita sera that i didn't get to visit this time around. if you're driving this is a really good option, if you're relying on public transport i'd say think about if you're willing to take a cab to and fro. walking the 24 minutes might be fine in other seasons but in summer it was a lil intense.
also, in general i'd recommend doing research and checking on/making reservations at places you want to eat bc opening times aren't super consistent!
- Karl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thai (8/5): Very good - One good design hotel. I booked a duplex loft room. Love the design and space arrangement. However, I was there during the rainy season. The water dripped in during the heavy rain. That wasn't expected. The hotel was very far from the sight-seeing area. It will cost you around 1300 JPY to get into town by taxi. There is a bus route but it doesn't come very often. So it's a long walk if you want to explore the city.
- Liang (10/5): I love the nature surroundings, and the room is nice and clean. - The staff is friendly, and they used iPad to communicate with me. They do their best for good service. The room is big and very clean than many hotels in Japan.
The room is modern, and I like the coffee machine in the room with cute ceramic cup. The ceramic cup is clean, so I feel comfortable to use it. The bed is comfortable, and it is good size for me.
The hotel is on a block with many ceramic stores. There are few cafes inside some of the ceramic stores. I had a latte and it was very good and pretty with latte art. The area has nice views of trees and mountains.
You can walk to Arita station in 25 minutes, and there restaurants and cafes near the hotel. Also you can make ceramic ware, and I went Norito Ceramic to make ceramic ware. Also the pottery experiences come with soba. I had a lot fun with my friend making ceramic ware, and we also paint on the ceramic ware.
I will stay here again :) I wish some of the restaurants near by stay open later, but it is good to eat early dinner.
- Vivian (8/5): A nice accommodation for porcelain shoppers - Very conveniently located among lots of porcelain stores.
- Pei (8/5): Cute accommodation in a unique area, especially convenient if you intend to shop heaps! - Hotel is in a special part of Arita with many specialty ceramic ware shops! It's a convenient place to do all your shopping. I noted many carpark lots, so I bet this gets busy during Golden Week when everyone descends on the town. If you do not book the hotel dinner, there is almost nowhere nearby to eat. You may have to take a taxi to the town center to find food.
- Cheung (9/5): Superb -
- Vinciane (9/5): Superb -
- Suhrewng (7/5): Good -
- Monica (10/5): Funky accommodation in beautifully designed hotel. - Location was great if you are into ceramics as public transport was intermittent. Breakfast was great; a traditional Japanese breakfast. If you stay on the days the restaurant is open, book the dinner as part of your accommodation package. Better food/restaurant options when hotel restaurant is closed.
