Guest Reviews
Super consigliata
- Mano (10/5): Great homestay with amazing views of Mt Batur. - I had a very pleasant stay at this accommodation. I felt very comfortable and safe in Komang's accommodation. The view from the homestay of Mt Batur was amazing! Drinking tea/coffee sitting on the bench felt surreal. Komang provided transport to places I wanted to go, along with providing some great recommendations. The food options were great aswell and well priced. I had a great time in the homestay and getting to know Komang and the culture of Bali, particularly Kintamini. Everyone is so friendly. Everything was to my liking. A fan was provided promptly when requested. The owner went out of his way to make sure my stay was great. I highly recommend this homestay.
- Mark (10/5): - Very friendly family and owner, superb breakfast, we were greeted with a welcome coffee. The accommodation was very good indeed for the price, comfy bed, large bathroom and a very nice terrace. We had a motorbike so access to the local village was easy Nothing
- Lucie (9/5): - Superbe homestay.
- Barbara (10/5): Perfect stay with very kind and supportive host family. - It was such a perfect stay. Host Family so kind and supportive. I loved it having my breakfast in rhe small Restaurant and looking at Mt Batur.
The backyard was perfect for doing my Yoga. The host organised the best hiking guide to Mt Batur. We went in the afternoon for the sunset and cooked bananas and eggs in the volcano hot steam. I’ll definitely come back when I’m again in Bali.
- Julia (5/5): - The hosts were kind and helped us book a trip up the volcano. The food they cooked for us was simple but delicious. The location was remote, far down a dirt road. It should be called a farm-stay. There are fields all around and many flies due to the farming.
- Justus (10/5): -
- Jarkko (10/5): - Host is nice. Location on countryside.
- Nona (10/5): An off the beaten track pleasure and treasure! - I stayed at Mount Batur homestay in February 2026 and Komang and his wife, Sarcina were wonderful. The room was lovely and the bathroom was new and clean. I enjoyed sitting on the little patio when it rained and had a great view of Mt Batur. Komang went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and could go around as needed (he brought me to a nice restaurant the overlooked the volcano from a different angle) as I had no transportation. He arranged a great ATV ride through the black lava rocks, mud and jungle which was a thrill! Sarcina brought me cooked bananas as a snack and his sister Made brought me to the hot springs and was my driver for the trip back to Sanur. All of them were wonderful! The surrounding farm land is a very nice, peaceful and an interesting place to walk around despite the harmless flies (an annoyance but don’t bite and all over Kintamani area). All of the locals in the area were very friendly and although it is off the beaten track, I had access to everything I needed including laundry at the local shop. Staying here for three nights with this lovely family was the highlight of my time in Bali! Nothing
- Yiğit (9/5): - Komang is a great guy. He greeted us like a family. He and his family helped us with everything. Room was clean and comfortable. This is farm area. So there are lots of flies around. And they are everywhere. Other than that, everything is perfect. Also if you don’t ride a motorcycle, the place is little far from center.
- emily (10/5): Caring, comfy and WHAT AN EXPERIENCE - The kindest family you will ever meet. We came to Mount Batur home stay for 2 nights as we wanted to hike Mount Batur. Sukrada (our host) was most welcoming helping us organise our hike up the volcano, he gave us a good price and showed us many different options of the hike. He woke up with us at 3 am and drove us to the starting point. We came in rainy season so we’re prepared for the worst but the views were still insane and beautiful ! Don’t let the rainy season put you off as it meant there were less tourists and more space for us to enjoy the views. As for our home stay the room was comfortable, clean and warm shower with hairdryer and a fan ! A lot better than a few of the places we stayed in Bali. Obviously you have come to Kintamani to Hike Mount Batur so the surrounding area is all farm land so expect flies and little things to do around other than hike Mount Batur and the Hot springs afterwards which was amazing to relax in. We stayed for 2 nights and that was perfect for us to do our activities. Sukrada’s wife cooked very yummy breakfasts of omelet and banana pancakes as well as dinner when we needed it of friend rice and fried noodles. Having the comfort of home cooked food when we needed it was lovely ! Overall our stay was relaxing, playing cards in the evening and coffee and tea provided when we wanted :) Two very happy travellers who for the price and caring attitude of this family couldn’t ask for more. For us there was nothing we didn’t like as we understood we were in somewhat of a rural town surrounded by farm lands so the flies weren’t an issue for us. If you want a 5 star hotel then maybe hiking Mount Batur isn’t for you but if you are like us who love to be in the countryside and enjoy the hikes and enjoy chatting to a lovely kind family then this is 100% for you ! Best home stay in Kintamani ❤️❤️
- Sharon (10/5): A memorable experience - We had such a wonderful stay at Mt Batur Homestay. The room was clean and comfortable, but what made the experience so special was the incredible hospitality. We felt like part of the family from the moment we arrived.
Everything was organised for us through the hosts - from the Mt Batur hike, sunset on Mt Batur in a Jeep, a hot springs massage to a visit to the local coffee plantation. We never had to worry about a thing… or go hungry! The home-cooked meals were delicious and plentiful, and they even packed us picnics for our outings.
If you’re looking for an authentic, peaceful stay with genuinely kind people, this is it. Highly recommend. 💛
- Miroslava (10/5): Very lovely place - The best service, family is super nice and hospitable. We tasted Arak together. This place is more than expectations. Is in the middle of onion fields. We did also Batur trek with Senny. Rooms are clean.
- Charles (4/5): - Nice owner It's too hard to reach by car without scratching it, road too narrow for car. One of the room lot of leech at the bathroom door and ceiling
- Manuera (10/5): - a very pleasant stay with Komang, the friendly and humorous owner, he invited us to explore Mount Batur to see the incredibly beautiful sunrise, thank you, we will definitely come again Nothing
- vr (1/5): - Location was near Mount batur Toilets were dirty. The host did not gave us a kind of an expereicne when the owner tried to suck money out and gave very poor service in return. He assured the hike arrnagement but never gave exact details when asked. He charged more money upon arrival. They kept the toilet dirty. Extremely disappointed. We had also made booking for his cab service to go places. He and his cousin both kept on adding money for every single movement. Be careful and prefer not to stay with this owner.
- Marina (7/5): Good enough - Komang is a really nice owner and willing to help! The breakfast is good and they also offer dinner for a very good price - which is great since the homestay is in a remote area. The room is good and comfortable, only has a fan and no A/C but it wasn't a problem since in that area is more chill. Bathroom is shared and outside, but it was good as I was the only person using the shared bathroom. View to Mt. Batur is great, really nice to sit down in the afternoon or during breakfast and just enjoy it.
I booked my hiking to Mt. Batur with Komang and turned out that he was the one guiding me, which was nice cause he really knows the area. I had a bottle of water, a walking stick, and breakfast included. He was not in a rush at all and just let me enjoy the top of Mt. Batur for as long as I wanted, not rushing back after the sunrise as all the other tours It's very remote, in the middle of the rural area, not in town. I had my own motorbike, so it wasn't a problem
I didn't really check other options to the hiking tour and booked direclty with the homestay, but I felt it was a bit pricey, still really convenient as I didn't have any effort
Recomendable 100% Todo genial!
- NARASIMHARAGHAV (10/5): - great host ! great stay - became really good friends!
- HSIAOSZU (10/5): -
- Ines (10/5): 10/10 - I really recommend this Homestay! A gorgeous setting between the fields away from tourism! The lake is very nearby and the views are stunning! This family is so sweet, welcoming and helpful! You can book the sunrise hike with them! They cook delicious food and everything really cheap! My two boys, 9 and 10 loved the place and the mount Batur hike which is very easy! The hotsprings are the cherry on the cake! The clean and comfortable rooms with hot showers are beautiful! This was such an awesome local experience and they all speak english very well! I would definitely stay there again!!!💚💚💚 We adored everything!!!!
- Colin (10/5): -
- Flora (10/5): A truly heartwarming stay with unforgettable experiences — highly recommended! - I had such an unforgettable stay here! Mr. Komang and his family are so warm and welcoming — they even invited me to join a Balinese birthday ceremony of his, which was such a special experience. 🤙🏻 The trekking with Mr. Komang’s wife was also awesome! At first, I thought it would be a group tour, but it turned out to be a one-on-one guided trek so could provide the best service and take care of me the whole time. You can also enjoy their homemade special food menu with big portion after the trekking experience! ☺️ Honestly, this stay deserves more than 5 stars — if possible, I would give 10!
- Tarannum (10/5): I’m coming back, you guys haven’t been hosts, you’ve become my family. Thank you for everything. - The staff, management, villa, location, everything was so great that i really don’t have any words to explain. Direct view of mount Batur from the bed. Their hospitality, professionalism, support , kindness - everything was a 100 on a scale of 10. Best place in Kintamni. The fact that I loved it so much, I wanted to extend but the rooms were booked out :) and the hosts cared for me so much, I just felt like it was my home away from home. This property has really nothing NOT to love. One of the Best experiences so far in my solo trip in Bali.
- Rebecca (10/5): Fabulous host with nothing too much trouble. - Komang and his family are amazing hosts. Their place is basic, a room, a bed (very fresh sheets), bathroom was private but separate. But they make sure you are looked after. His wife cooks great basic food. He can organise drivers and your trekking/hot springs experience with ease at reasonable price - considering what you’re saving on hotel, it’s a great deal! A bit remote, but that’s part of the charm.
Many flies, but tbh, there were more in town.
- Emilie (9/5): -
- Nicholson (10/5): Great views and better people - Our stay was perfect, Komang and his whole family were amazing. They looked after us making sure we were happy helping us with anything we needed. He helped us with organising our trip doing the long route up Mount Batur with our guide Seni who worked very hard looking after the whole group and made it one of our best experiences in Bali. Hopefully will get to come back and stay again!
- Cheryl (10/5): Wonderful immersive stay with a lovely family - Our stay at Mount Batur Homestay was one of the highlights of our trip to Bali. It was a totally immersive experience in a warm family home amongst a farming community. We were welcomed so warmly and treated like part of the family. Originally chose this location to be closer to Mount Batur in order to do the sunrise hike up the mountain. The homestay is nestled in farm land in the shadow of the mountain. Komang, our host, drove us to the start point of the trail with a local guide that he had organised for us. As you leave around 3:30am, Komang offered you a head torch (which you need in the dark) and bamboo walking pole which I recommend using. There are three routes down which you can choose depending on how difficult the path is. Recommend hiking boots or a good pair of sneakers. Price varies according to the route you choose. Komang showed us the day before on a map what to expect.
We are an older couple and do not ride motorcycle, so Komang, in his own time, offered to drive us in his car around the area. The viewpoints of the lake and Mountain Abung that he took us to, were amazing, as was the temple on the lake that we visited. We too were taken to the Volcano museum and watched a 20 minute documentary on the history of the volcanic activity. It was really interesting especially after climbing the mountain itself. Put everything in perspective.
We appreciated the breakfasts and dinners that Sartina made us 🙏
Walking through the farm lanes and the local village really gave us a feel of the real Bali . Komang also organised us travel on to our next destination.
Suksma Sartina and Komang for your warm hospitality and for going above and beyond. We loved our stay at your place and will definitely be back . 🙏 Loved every moment.
- Tim (10/5): From check-in to check-out, the owner was thoughtful, attentive, and always ready to assist. - I had a wonderful stay thanks to the incredibly kind and helpful owner. From a warm welcome with tea to arranging a great guide for the Mount Batur sunrise trek, he went above and beyond. His genuine care, local knowledge, and thoughtful support made my visit truly memorable.
- Anne (10/5): Amazing - Close to mt. batur. Amazing family. They can arrange everything for you for a good price. We will recommend arranging your mt batur hiking through the host. Also go to the hot springs. The food at the homestay is great too and very affordable!!
Probably the best stay we had here in Bali!
- Marlando (10/5): Bli Komang, the owner is so friendly and helpful. -
- Tania (8/5): Very enjoyable and friendly - The host was exceptional. He went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. He organised our hike up Mt Batur and transported us to the hot springs several times and arranged our transfer to our next stop. The food was nice and fresh. Flies which are synonymous for the area.
- Darren (10/5): owner brought me all over the place and took good care of me during my stay - wonderful people owning the place. very friendly and caring.
- Jarika (10/5): life changing - the best thing was the family i loved the food and everything they had it was a great experience wasn't much to walk in that area
- Florence (9/5): Great place for sunrise Mt Batur hike - Great place to start your Mount Batur exploration from (and avoid the middle of the night pick up). The room was comfortable with hot shower and breakfast included. The owner organized the sunrise hike for myself and another guest at a competitive rate and allowed us plenty of time to relax at the hotsprings after. I would stay here again to explore Kintamani further :)
- Dave (9/5): Superb -
- Katrina (9/5): Truly wonderful homestay! - Truly wonderful stay! We were met with the warmest welcome. The family was so generous and couldn't do enough for us. My partner and I opted to book this spot given we wanted somewhere a little quieter/farther from town but still accessible and this spot was it! You walk down a little farm road off of the main road to get there and all you can hear at night is the sound of crickets. Very, very peaceful. There is also a wonderful little warung a few minutes walk away with the most lovely staff. Hot shower, amazing views of Mount Batur and walking distance to the climbing crag (Bali Climbing Crag). Stay here! The smallest thing but I don't drink caffeine so I would have loved to see some sort of herbal tea on the menu :)
- Tus1a (10/5): Cozy local homestay with outstanding volcano view - Such a gem in Kintamani! Highly recommended. Very local and traditional homestay with outstanding volcano views
- Clare (8/5): Very good -
- Andrey (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly owner. All with care and love
- Siao (10/5): Amazing host and homestay - I had a lovely stay here. You can see Mt Batur from the homestay. It is close to the starting point of Mt Batur hike so I didn't need to wake up too early for the hike.
The host and his family were very kind and helpful. They organised the sunrise hiking tour. It was a great experience and the view was amazing. The hike wasn't too hard but it'll be much easier with proper hiking boots. The host also took me to the Kopi plantation and the lake. They are definitely must-do when you are here.
The room was spacious and clean and has everything I need. I saw a lot of reviews about the flies. Yeah they were everywhere but I don't think they were that annoying. They certainly did not affect my experience at all. And you gotta try the omelette the host prepares ! They were so good that I had them everyday. They plant their own vegetables so they were so fresh. They also make me coffee everyday :)
I'll definitely stay here again next time and I would recommend anyone who is planning to hike Mt Batur to stay at this lovely place. The road to the homestay is narrow and not in good condition. However, they put a sign at the entrance so you can't miss it. Once you see the sign, just follow the track even though you are not able to see the end and wonder if its a dead end :) just follow the track anyway
Host and his family are kind to offer transport in and out of the homestay.
- Sheena (9/5): Superb - Clean stay, lovely host family and peaceful atmosphere
- Junes (10/5): Very good stay, super friendly family, always happy to return!!! - Absolutely beautiful homestay right by the volcano — everything you need and more. The highlight, however, is the incredibly kind and welcoming family who run the place. I had an amazing experience booking a volcano tour with the owner — such a genuine and warm-hearted person. This stay was unforgettable, and I can wholeheartedly recommend booking here.
- Monika (9/5): Superb - The place has a good view, the family is super nice.
Drinking water station available. Hot water in the shower both on shared and private bathroom. Possibility to order local food.
Our room smelled cigarettes so they immediately upgraded us because the room with private bathroom was available.
Tasty breakfast with a view. We even got a snow fruit to try. The path to reach the property is not easy. Especially when it's dark and raining.
- Danny (10/5): Exceptional - I had such a lovely stay here. The food is great. The hospitality is brilliant. I went on the Mt Batur sunrise trek and it was amazing. Can’t wait to come back.
- Kay (7/5): Quiet place full of flies. Tiny room with little space - ROOM ~~ I liked the purple color of the bedding, comfy bed
STAFF ~~ helpful and friendly. Offers guided tours
LOCATION ~~ far enough away from the road, mostly quiet except for a few farmers in the morning ROOM ~~ Very very small! A couple with suitcases could have problems moving in the room. There is no wardrobe or anything to leave your stuff. Also you have to take your shoes inside the room.
I have my doubts whether the bedding was actually washed; I think I could still smell the guests before me. At least (!) one pillow stank.
Curtain pole set up badly so closing the curtains was a mess. I also felt sligthly exposed because there are windows on 2 sides of the room and the curtains are not 100% sight-proof. The ceilings are unfinished. The room has 4 holes in the wall without mosquito nets which makes you a) hear more from the outside and makes b) all the insects able to get in
STAFF ~~ did not reply in time often and then how do I find him when he doesn't? He was rather talking than listening. The taxi he ordered me arrived 45min late (not his fault, but he should have a better contact)
WIFI ~~ just so-so
LOCATION ~~ THIS IS A HELLHOLE FULL OF FLIES! I've never seen anything like that (not only here but half the village). No grab. To get to the main road is ~7min walk and at night you'll need a light
- Sarah (10/5): Thank you for the most wonderful experience - Absolutely loved staying with this adorable family. Komang and his wife run an impeccably clean homestay, with 4 cozy rooms. We were welcomed with tea and homemade biscuits. Komang organised our Mt Batur climb. His prices are excellent (he could definitely charge more!) and he gave us 3 options for our hike. We chose the longest, because why not, and we were treated to an incredible sunrise, eggs cooked in volcano steam and the friendliest guide we could have asked for. Komang woke with us at 3:30 and provided all our transport. Truly the kindest man we have met in Bali, and we've been many times. Thank you for everything 🙏 Not a bad thing, but be mindful that the track to the house is quite tricky to navigate if you haven't driven it before.
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Tommaso (10/5): Exceptional - We have been to this place to hike the Batur Vulcan.
The room and the bathroom were well clean and comfortable, like the pictures show. The little garden is so beautiful and well organized.
The family is so beautiful and all the meals we tried from the menu were really really good.
Thanks for everything 🙏
- Annelies (10/5): BEST homestay in Batur area! - We loved every bit of our stay with Komang and Sartchina! Upon arrival, the strangest thing happened: a wasp flew into my boyfriend's ear and Komang had to rush him to the doctor to get it out again. This event turned us into a little family quite fast and we were taken care of so well during the rest of our stay. We were fed fruit, cookies, and many cups of coffee and tea. Komang arranged a great tour for us up to Mount Batur and they fetched us at the hot springs on another day free of charge and even drove us to the market to get some drinks and food.
We absolutely loved our stay with these kind and generous people. The homestay is also located in a rural area, a little away from the tourist area of Mount Batur which makes it a very immersive experience.
Thank you so much Komang, Sartchina, and family. We had the BEST time and wish you all the best for the future! :)
- Thomas (10/5): Fantastic comfortable Homestay with lovely staff in a beautiful and peaceful setting. - Bed in the small room is a bit soft
But this is personal preference, I prefer hard beds
- Gabriela (7/5): The staff were amazing, they cooked us a lovely meal, organised the mount Batur tour, the room was perfect, the view bea - The view, very comfy bed and the staff The road up to the property is very long.
- Kelsey (9/5): A fantastic mountain get-away! - Oman and his family were fantastic. He went out of his way to make sure we had transportation and a good time everywhere. He helped us set up our trek and hot springs and brought us to both locations. He even let us use his scooter and helped us get a ride to Lovina when we couldn’t find a taxi. The home is in a lovely onion field right at the foot of Mount Batur. It was nice to be out of the hustle and bustlin cities. The facilities are so nice, the bed was huge!! Breakfast and coffee were included each day of our stay and Oman is always keen for some karaoke! We loved our stay here and are so grateful to Oman and his fam! The flies. Prepare thy selves. The flies will make you want to never go outdoors!!! Just bring some repellent :-) Also the location was tough if you’re looking for a taxi but there are local taxis for a bit more than a grab would be. But the pros definitely out weight the cons!!
- William (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (10/5): I felt so much like at home! - The owner was like my family, he organised everything for us, took us to the hot springs, prepared food for us everyday. I couldn't be more thankful. The Internet was down but that's because they needed to come and fix it however, that wasn't a problem as they put a hotspot on their phone that worked great all day.
- Giulia (8/5): Peaceful staying in mountain surroundings - The owners are very kind and always there to help you and make you comfortable. Beds are nice and the rooms are clean The road to get to the property is in bad condition and there are many flies outside the room
- Alexandra (10/5): The best! - Everything was amazing! Komang and his family went above and beyond in absolutely every aspect imaginable. Anybody and everybody should stay here.
- Bag (10/5): Exceptional - It's an amazing place. The view overlooks Mount Batur. The host and his wife are very warm and kind people. We felt like home here. And the pancakes were delicious!
- Yulia (10/5): Amazing experience - Very welcoming hosts, they want to provide the best service out there. Delicious fried banana desert! Free coffee in the morning:) View to the mountains, far away from the road and people. So it’s very quiet. A lot of flies in the daytime but it’s just because it’s in the fields and you can’t do anything about it.
- Stephan (10/5): Exceptional - We had a really great stay here. The location is a bit of the road and super quiet and peaceful with good view on mount Batur. The hosts are super friendly and did everything they could for us to have a great time. We would definitely come back anytime.
- Nikolaj (10/5): Legendary homestay - The view was almost as incredible as the family who owns the homestay (and the view was superb). Nothing.
- Miroslava (10/5): Amazingly helpful so we felt cozy and relaxed there. - It was pleasure to stay here. Property owners are very helpfull, super nice and made amazing atmosphere for our stay and conection with other guests.
It is very quiet place with Mount Batur view. They serve tasty food and helped us with guidence to volcano. Place is cozy and clean. Perfect place for rest.
- Nathan (9/5): A LOVELY STAY! - i loved my stay here. the room was clean and spacious. i loved having coffee in the courtyard with amazing views of the surrounding mountains and veg/rice fields. there was a little chill out area to do my work and the sunsets were beautiful. i also really enjoyed the great hospitality of Komang and his family, i felt so welcome and at home. i was offered a nice coffee and breakfast each morning.
