• Veronica (9/5): Esperienza in hanok da non perdere! - L’hanok Sohwa è una piccola gemma immersa nel silenzio di stradine tradizionali di Gyeongju. L’hanok è perfetto per ospitare 4 persone e relativamente vicino al centro storico e ai luoghi di interesse (15-20 minuti a piedi). Sohwa è molto gentile e disponibile. La casa offre molto comfort con stoviglie per la colazione e prodotti da bagno.

• Nicole (9/5): Absolutely lovely little house - It’s as beautiful as the pictures. The style is hanok meets Scandinavian meets mid-century modern. Everything is new. The hot tub was a HUGE bonus in the winter. The host was lovely — warm and friendly. Having breakfast and tea/coffee waiting in the fridge was great since there isn’t anywhere to get food in less than a 15-20 minute walk. (But once you get to that area there are a million restaurants, cafes, and shops.) It’s a little small — we had to leave suitcases in the living room. But it was great for 2 nights.

La cucina è dotata di ogni utensile necessario, abbiamo apprezzato tantissimo i prodotti per la colazione gentilmente lasciati in frigorifero. La piscina interna ha l’acqua riscaldata per essere utilizzata anche nei mesi non estivi. I prodotti messi a disposizione per igiene personale sono di ottima qualità. Abbiamo apprezzato veramente ogni dettaglio, e anche la gentilezza dell’host, sempre disponibile e raggiungibile tramite messaggio. Anche la posizione della struttura è ottima per visitare Gyeongju, una vera perla della Corea del Sud.

• Heather (10/5): Beautiful property; excellent hosts; a gem - The owners/hosts were extremely kind and very attentive with messaging before our stay; they allowed us to drop off our luggage ahead of check-in (around 11:30am). They greeted us warmly, gave us a tour of the home, and showed us how to use the door code. The property was absolutely stunning and spotless with amazing design and architectural details, and the beds were so comfortable! The soaking pool was a relaxing treat. The host left fresh/delicious breads, jam, juice and milk for breakfast and arranged for our early taxis to the Gyeongju train station. We only stayed for one night and only had the day to explore, so we took taxis to the various sights to maximize our time (though we did walk home after a nice dinner in the downtown area). I'd say it would be perfect for a group of 4; we had 5 adult travelers and one had to sleep on a mat in the living area, but that did not detract from a lovely stay. We'd recommend it to anyone who visits Gyeongju! This has nothing to do with the property or hosts but we came to Gyeongju from the Busan intercity bus terminal. We had hoped that there would be a place to store our luggage at the bus terminal or in town before we were able to drop our bags at the property, but there wasn't. Though we would've liked to have gotten an earlier start in exploring more of Gyeongju that day, it was fine; we just killed some time strolling the downtown in the morning and had lunch before heading to the property to safely store our luggage.

• Massimiliano (10/5): Wonderful home and caring hosts - Extremely friendly and caring hosts, very modern and super clean property which was refurbished almost entirely only a few years ago. It included every possible amenity one could need, and more. The pool was a wonderful addition. Breakfast was left in the fridge which was also a very welcome addition. The hosts were extremely responsive and available to help with anything (e.g. booking a taxi on the day of departure). I would certainly recommend Sohwa and I wouldn’t consider any other option if I planned to be back in Gyeongju. I’ve travelled far and wide and this property definitely ranks among the very best I’ve experienced.

• brian (4/5): worst welcome ever received - - The hanok has been recently renovated with attention to detail. - The garden is very nice and well kept and the open air bath tub is a nice plus. - Upon our arrival the host has been very unfriendly to us, I’m sure there’s been some linguistic barriers but the result is that we really didn’t felt welcome in the place. The bad attitude of the host has left us a bad memory of our stay. - The house is located in a residential area, the nearest bars and restaurants are located at more than 20 minutes walk. - The instructions provided to open the door were not clear enough, guided steps with pictures would have been useful. - The breakfast is too poor, for the type of venue I expected to receive fresh local products instead of packaged bread and 3 single-serve sachets of jam. - At the check out it’s not possible to store the luggage, on the day of departure we had to reach a baggage storage loosing time.

• Ingrun (10/5): A Historic Oasis of Beauty and Calm - This gorgeous property is located in a very quiet street about a 10-min walk from the historic part of town. Everything, from the beautiful architecture to the modern bathrooms, has been done to the very highest standards. You can tell that the owners put their heart and soul into this house. We really appreciated the little extra touches like the fridge filled with goodies upon our arrival.

Proche du centre et de beaucoup de sites de visite. Restos et cafés tout proche. C est calme. Les propriétaires sont très gentils et nous ont accueillis avec beaucoup de gentillesse. Nous avons même reçu un cadeau, une poterie artisanale de Gyeongju, c est la première fois que je vois ça, c était trop gentil. Je conseille fortement.

Es muy bonito y está bien situado, a unos 10-15 minutos caminando de las calles comerciales y de restaurantes. Está todo muy limpio y no falta nada ni en la cocina ni en los baños. La piscina de agua caliente es un extra que se aprecia cuando llegas cansado. Los propietarios son muy amables y atentos. Por decir algo, el desayuno podría ser un poco más completo.

• Ralph (10/5): Super und sehr empfehlenswert! - Hanok Sohwa war traumhaft schön. Sehr sauber und üppig ausgestattet, sogar mit Garten und einem kleinen Whirlpool auf der rückwärtigen Terrasse. Wir kamen mit Mietwagen und konnten diesen auf dem Hanok-Gelände parken. Bei Ankunft wurden wir bereits von den sehr netten privaten Eigentümern erwartet. Gegenüber befindet sich ein Kulturzentrum, zu dem auch ein gutes koreanisches Restaurant gehört. Viele Sehenswürdigkeiten kann man zu Fuß erreichen (wobei Hanok Sohwa ruhig etwa ein bis zwei Kilometer vom touristischen Zentrum von Gyeongju entfernt liegt). Als erster Ausflug in nächster Nähe bieten sich die nur 5 Minuten entfernten Oreung Royal Tombs an. Ich hatte das Glück, neben den Gräbern dort tatsächlich auch eine Schlange (ungiftig!!!) und kleine Hirsche zu sehen. Auch die bekannte Woljeonggyo Bridge ist nur 10 Minuten entfernt (unbedingt nach Sonnenuntergang besuchen). Wenn überhaupt (jammern auf sehr hohem Niveau) sollte man nicht zu große Erwartungen in das Frühstück stecken. Frühstück besteht aus der etwas spartanischen Erstausstattung des Kühlschranks, nachgefüllt wurde später nichts mehr.

We were welcomed by the couple that owns it and they gave us a tour of the house and explained where everything was - they were so incredibly sweet and welcoming. The house is gorgeous, the photos don’t do it justice. The architecture is so beautiful and the house was very clean, well organised and so spacious, honestly the best place I have ever stayed at. If we ever come back, we will definitely stay here again, 10/10 for sure. Absolutely nothing, everything was perfect

Clean, spacious and nice with the small “pool” outside in the backyard. Our hostels helped us with what ever we needed help for. No place to unpack, so suitcases had to stay on the floor.

La cocina muy completa y nos dejó un pack de bienvenida en la nevera. La host muy amable vino a recibirnos y explicarnos todo. El hot tub espectacular y se agradece después de estar todo el día andando. Fueron tan amables que incluso rompimos una copa de vino y no nos lo cobró. Súper recomendable. Una experiencia inolvidable en una tradicional casa japonesa pero con la máxima comodidad! Que no esta en el centro. Si te gusta andar genial. A unos 20 minutos de la entrada a la zona comercial. Pero es una ventaja dado que no hay ruido.

The host was very friendly, met us on arrival, showed us around the house and is very responsive. There was food for breakfast and the small pool/soaking tub was heated for us to use. It is about a 20min walk to Hwangnidan-gil.

The outdoor hot bath was wonderful. Everything is so beautifully done. We loved the attention to detail in the building. All around a beautiful experience,a very happy stay. The master bedroom is stunning with the exposed wooden ceiling and the paper screened windows. The light in the morning as you wake is so soft and gentle. I loved sitting on the front step in the morning sun with my first cup of tea.

She had prepared everything meticulously, making the stay extra perfect. It was serene staying there. I would totally recommend to families of 4, or 2 couples for a quiet, warm and comforting stay. The sofa bed was more suited as a simple sofa. But, the host was very accommodating to provide an extra bed with linens and pillows.
